Written, 3 TPE, Strange Bedfellows (207 words) The Ireland squad is a big mishmash of old friends who have spread out around the SHL. There’s Minaj, Laroux, and Kove over in Minnesota. They’ve been struggling to rebuild the team over there, so I’m certainly not going to give them a hard time about it. We aren’t the closest guys in the Ireland room, but we’ve been around together in the minors so it’s good to reconnect. Tingle plays down in New Orleans, so there’s no love lost there during the regular season. But this season especially, after they missed the playoffs, I’m not going to give them too much grief. That said, there are some bigger Western Conference rivals that get together for IIHF. Hargreaves is a good friend from our early days, and he’s with Toasty over there in San Franciso now as they start to build a contender. Then of course there’s Murray and Martin coming in from Los Angeles. Marton goes way back with those guys, to our Carolina days. There’s gonna be a lot of chirping going on, but it’s all in good fun. If anything, I’ll be doing my best to keep the San Fran and LA guys on good terms, considering their tight division and electric playoff series. Quote:12. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (137 words) Unless New England can alter the course of destiny, I’m not sure that had a snowball’s chance in this matchup. They got the best of Winnipeg two seasons ago, but the fates have taken over since then. Last year, it was Buffalo being anointed by the gods to go on a holy run to the cup. But in season 72, nothing stood in the way of this Aurora team that has always fallen short in the past. At best, the Wolfpack could’ve petitioned the league for the finals to be played entirely on neutral ice, maybe on an outdoor rink at the edge of Lake Superior or something. Did Winnipeg lose a game at home this season? Seemed like Game 1 of the finals might portend the end of home-ice-advantage but that wasn’t even close to true. |
