Everyone knows that MVP is typically given to the player that contributes the most on the ice. To be an MVP candidate, most people say your numbers need to be good or even flashy- this is why the award is typically dominated by forwards.

But what if a player is valuable in a different way? Shouldn’t they be recognized for that?

For that reason, I choose to argue that Net Man of the Quebec City Citadelles deserves the nod. His impact on team unity cannot be understated, as he has served as a rallying point and leader for a team with a ridiculously high number of rookies as they make a run for the Cup, in a season more successful than just about any talking head or semi-respected journalist predicted.

While his numbers may not be impressive compared to goalies around the league, let alone in comparison to any forwards whose names are being put forward (including those of his own teammates, Hunziker and Desjardins among them), he’s the most valuable in the intangibles.
