There is only one true rival for the St. Louis Scarecrows. Fuck Detroit.
Before the SMJHL turned into the “blah” it is today, with “everyone makes the playoffs” and the really, really dumb “new divisions every year!” thing, the J used to be the home of some of the best rivalries. Detroit and St. Louis often found themselves competing for Division (or League!) titles, and the calls of “CAW CAW” or “SKREEEE” could be heard all over the SHL. Both teams liked seeing the other team lose, even if we weren’t the ones beating them. Beating Detroit for the Four Star Cup in S45 in my final season as Crows GM was the best possible way to go out. It was a ton of fun. Other memorable rivalries were definitely VAN vs KEL, and COL vs themselves. However, rivalries have been lost over time, and new players just don't have the same “F that team” mentality in the J like we used to have. Rivalries were okay to have, it rarely got to be too much and most of it was good natured, and it gave new players a brand new thing to join in on with their teammates. Here’s hoping we get real divisions that don’t change every season when the two new J teams join the league. (219)
