If I could change any rule in hockey, it would probably be to change players from 5 vs 5 to 3 vs 3 at all times, not just overtime. Listen, i've been to a bunch of hockey games before, and while entertaining, 3v3 is just so much more active to watch. So much room for error, hockey scores will go way up and be a fast paced action point battle at all times.

Now to the detractors, I don't think it will change the way the game is fundamentally played all that much. I think the number of players on a team total will remain pretty much unchanged, as all players will have many more shifts that will balance out. Additionally, backup goalies become even more important, as fielding 100+ shots a game take was too much of a mental toll on just one main goalie. And then overtime would then naturally shift to only pks, making ends of games even more exciting.
