If I could change one rule, it would be to get rid of offsides - it’s the chaos era and we’re embracing it. What’s the use of making guys tag up when the dman fumbles it at the blue line? Just keep the pace going, keep the play moving and make sure that we’re all home in time to catch the 11 o clock news. This could create some elite goal sucking as guys hide behind the offensive zone net looking for a breakaway pass. There’s also the chance of some really creative looks (eg flying V zone entrance) that just simply would not be possible under today’s set of rules. Now is there value in the offsides rule? I absolutely think so, but hockey is becoming a stale product here and sometimes you have to try a dramatic rule change or four in order to get things going - why not move one of the rules that adds structure to the games and see what happens?
