Joining in on the trapezoid haterism that's rampant here (for obviously Correct Reasons). The trapezoid is anti-goalie propaganda. The trapezoid is a creation of frightened little men who fear the full power of a fully kitted goalie coming at them. Free the goalies from their entrapment and just see what happens. The implementation of the trapezoid has destroyed the brains of fans insofar as their understandings of how a goalie can be involved in the play on the ice, with many losing their absolute minds if a goaltender dares to venture more than a foot or two beyond the limits of the crease. Free-roaming goaltenders should be allowed to terrorize the opposing team. It's good for their enrichment. The PWHL goaltenders are a fantastic example of this, as is the "and Fleury is looking to finish his check" incident in the middle of the NHL season. Let the goaltenders be involved in their own defense.
