For the Halloween promo, I’m pitching a horror-comedy called “Skate or Fright.” Picture this: I’m alone at the rink late one night when I start hearing whispers about the “Zamboni Phantom.” Legend says this ancient, haunted Zamboni appears every Halloween at midnight, challenging unlucky players to a shootout to settle some old hockey grudge. If I miss? He’ll drag me down to the underworld, no questions asked.

So, naturally, I accept. Our team’s equipment manager is playing the Phantom, and he’s got the perfect deadpan delivery for it. He glides out of the fog on the Zamboni, muttering and rolling his eyes as if the whole thing is beneath him. Every shot I take goes wrong—my stick shatters, the puck turns into a rubber chicken, my skate laces mysteriously untie. Meanwhile, he’s watching me struggle, just sighing in frustration.

I somehow win by accidentally knocking an old Gatorade bottle into the net. The Phantom, defeated, yells, “I’ll be back next year!” before vanishing in a puff of smoke. It’s goofy, a little spooky, and fans would love it!
