Option 2:
Early on in Prince Marius' career, the idea of standing around signing autographs was torturous. he was a hockey player, not a celebrity. It isn't in the job description of a hockey player to have social skills and be somebody's hero. The pressure to excel on the ice is heavy enough, but to couple that with the responsibility to be anything more than just an athlete and someone's role model is mountainous. However, the experience of meeting with people, visiting hospitals, working with the marginalized in the community and seeing that no matter the economic status or race or gender, hockey was unifying and meant more to people than Marius initially thought. His dad Viktor was always the man of the people, for Prince to not live up to the ideals initially was difficult, but he began seeing the merit and value in signing autographs. Now, you will find Prince outside of the stadium after the game signing autographs and meeting with fans for a few minutes. He always gives back to the people and gives the 120% that the job requires from him rather than just being a hockey player, he can be a hero. Even though e didn't ask for it, its what the people need. |
