With opening night coming in Montreal and Chopper playing a new position, he wanted to make a statement that this was a natural transition to defense. Often times the big boys go unappreciated in the stat sheet as many intangible statistics are the ones that defensemen excel at. Chopper wanted to break through that notion by getting on the scoresheet and work hard to bring his experience as a forward into play as he established himself as a defensemen. His rifle of a slap shot shined bright as sizzling shots rained down on the tender. He was thrilled to see the pop of the net as the puck crossed the line to score. He went and slammed into the glass in order to get fans more involved in the celebrations. Chopper has always played for the benefit of the fans. He knows that without the fans being at their best that the team cannot play at its best. (157) ![]() |
