2. I believe San Francisco did what the Chicago Blackhawks did with Dustin Byfuglien. They parked them in front of the net to screen the goalie, get a few rebounds and maybe just maybe a few off the backside. Since this was a novel strategy teams were unable to design a counter play which allowed Shaw to excel on the Power play. (66) 8. San Francisco does all the things, drafting, coaching, great hard working players. They also have great asset management. If you are unable to determine the value of what you have, what is available, and how to get the best value out of every transaction. With drafting it's finding the player with the highest motivation and potential. On trading, understanding the value of opponents players and picks as well as what they desire. Do they want to make a deal to extend their window, or are they looking for futures like draft picks and prospects. SFP has been able to do this and more, they are the envy of the league and I'm sure every team wants to emulate their success. (120) 10. Regular seasons success does matter but FHM is going to sim you sometimes. Being the best over the season is a large sample size, while the playoffs, especially one series. can be devastatingly small. Sometimes the sim is going to roll against you, and it does it twice. Now you're down 0-2 and wondering what changes to make, or to stay the course. What's the best path? On average the best season standing team should have the best chance however upsets can and will happen.(85) 14. San Francisco has won the S80 Challenge Cup, and it's due to stellar performances from two key players. They would be Sydney Shaw and Logan Webb. Webb with 21G just missed being at an even Goal per game and a total of 34 points, 25 of which came at even strength. Sydney Shaw finished with 25 points and a 1.14 PPG. If they would've had that PPG during the season they would've finished with an astonishing 75 points. This only highlights the skill of the San Francisco coaching staff and the tactics they employed throughout the playoffs. For Tampa Bay, losing game 4 in overtime and letting San Francisco back in the series instead of taking a commanding 3-1 lead. I'm sure their players will have the killer instinct next season.(132) |
