I think the trade deadline comes down to player movement as a whole, which is also a lot lower in SHL than real life. Players are often moved at the deadline IRL because they are on an expiring contract and looking at free agency. We don't see a lot of movement to free agency, especially not among highly valued players. If you found a way to encourage further movement in free agency, that would also boost the trade deadline
