S57 mPT #1 - Offseason Moves

There is one offseason moves that stood out to me: Rex Kirkby to Atlanta Inferno. Now, why does this stand out? Well, Kirkby was fined and suspended for 3 games, which means he's not available for the first 3 games of the season. Now Atlanta needs a player for 3 games, which will be a player down in the SMJHL. In fact it's Michael Withecheck, who'll be missing some games for Anchorage now. Now they need a player for one day.

This may not count, but it did technically happen in the SHL off season. Fred Wanesly (me) was added to the UK IIHF roster. In my humble opinion, this was a great move. As it turns out, the line Fred was on ended up doing waaay better than expected. I have to say,  a silver medal in my first IIHF outing is pretty satisfying.

The Atlanta Inferno signing Rex Kirkby was a big move, especially for a recent expansion team. This will help push them to a playoff spot.

Falcons Canada

Texas pretty much stood pat this offseason. They didn't add any players via the draft and it looked like they would roll into the new season with the exact same lineup. But they made a big move late with the signing of goaltender Cillian Kavanagh. Kavanagh will be sure to bolster the Texas goalie tandem, replacing a sub 600 TPE backup and likely entering a 1A and 1B situation with White Goodman. This move will give a good Texas team more flexibility when it comes to playing the hot hand or give a cold goalie a rest.

Buffalo Stampede pick Anton Mihailov at #17 pick. I'm pretty sure that will be big steal at future for sure, since Mihailov is aiming to have max TPE as long as possible.

I was really happy with some of the Inferno pickups in the offseason. In particular, Anders Christiansen has been a great player for a long time and I'm happy to have him as a teammate once again.

I think NEW trading up to 1 overall was a bold move. Even if they paid a lot, it shows a lot of confidence in the player they are picking up and that they'll be leaned on heavily in the future to contribute.

The Baltimore Platoon have done great with the limited picks they had this draft to select fantastic players and also traded for some more veteran leadership for the younger based squad that will be charging down the ice this upcoming season. The rebuild is looking very strong and the wholes that come with that process seem to be plugged for the time being.

The best move of this offseason was as expected done by Buffalo when they traded their first round pick for many future picks. These future picks will likely turn into many more great Stampede players.

The key acquisition by the Los Angeles Panthers was, clearly, the drafting of Jari Heikkinen from the Quebec City Citadelles.

... but no, in seriousness, the Panthers' most important splash this season was the signing of Poopity Scoop, who previously played with the Buffalo Stampede. The circumstances around this signing are a little strange. Probably too much to get into here. But for the Panthers, it means they pick up a much-needed defenceman still in the peak of his career. Given the Panthers are arguably one of the middling teams, any free agency signing is going to have to be viewed as a win -- but to fill in one of your key needs without giving anything up, aside from maybe a healthy chunk of your cap space, is an absolute win. They might not be competing for a Challenge Cup this year, but this puts them one step closer to the conversation... and they didn't have to compromise their prospect development to do it.

The Chicago Syndicate made a big move this off-season in calling up defensive center Jean-Uhtred Ragnarsson-Tremblay. Ragnarsson-Tremblay is the missing piece the team needs and will shut down the opponents top players with no mercy. He will also score a bunch of goals for some reason even though he doesn’t want to but that’s just an added bonus!

The Winnipeg Jets called up the man, the myth, the legend Pojo Biscuit. His dominant hockey player genes are off the charts, being part of the Biscuit dynasty. I think it's a guaranteed cup for the Jets with this man on their roster.

the atlanta inferno, aka flavourtown burny bois, managed to get in contact with the major free agent known as Rex Kirkby, but first he gotta serve a 3 game regular season suspension for some words said in a player meeting. sooo good, but like still a little woof.

This offseason the biggest move in Simulation Hockey League history was made when the Atlanta Inferno drafted Tres Sombreros. Tres will be the best Latino player to ever go out on the ice in the SHL.

The best single move was that Winnipeg didn't call Jst Maro into SHL. That way Quebec City will have strong center and Maro will have good chances in winning SMJHL league.
