S81 PT #4: To The Last Drop of Blood Due: Sunday, March 16th @ 11:59 PM PST

Written Option 1

It's game 66 of the season, and the mechanics behind the draft order means that we desperately need a win if we want to secure 1OA in the upcoming draft. And important draft, given the size of the class, as well as the upcomig expansion.

50 minutes into the game, we are barely hanging on. We're trailing by one after the opponents just scored on a deflection and momentum is not going our way. The Monarchs need someone to shake things up, and Julian decides to step up. A few chirps, a borderline hit and a nasty slash behind play are all thats needed to pull one of the opponents top 4 defensemen into a fight.

Julian isn't the worlds best fighter, but he can handle himself. And since he went onto the ice this shift looking for it, he is prepared and ready to drop the first haymaker before the other guy had the chance to properly drop the gloves. Punches are exchanged, and after being separated by the refs, Julian fires up the crowd a bit on his way to the box.

The crowd believes in the team, momentum hadms shifted. It's now up to the rest of the team to find the net and seize the opportunity.

Ubba Lodbrok, center for the Philadelphia Forge of the Simulation Hockey league, former player for the Anchorage Armada of the SImulation Major Junior HOckey League, and current representative of the FInnish national team, is fighting yet again. This time, he actually got called for it. Seeing as there were only 13 fights in the entire league the whole season, this is a BIG DEAL, okay? When I say he got caught, I mean, he didn't actually get penalized for fighting this time, he did it after the whistle was called, and when the refs were so conveniently distracted by who knows what across the other side of the ice. The thing is, who was Ubba Lodbrok fighting? Well, first and foremost, not his teammates. He saves that for mid season practices when the team is in the dumps. No, this time he was fighting one of the concession vendors. Why? Well, they ran out of Ubba's favorite beer during the first intermission and Ubba was livid. How else is he supposed to play this late in the season?

Hockey players can be ruthless: from trash talk about your family members and friends to literally just harassing you all game (sometimes unnecessarily), there are plenty of reasons a hockey player might looks their cool. But Violet doesn't typically react to the personal attacks; the likelihood that any of those things end up being true or meaningful in any way is so low that she is able to easily tune those out. But constantly skirting the rules or specifically doing on-ice illegal things because the referee is distracted or what have you really gets Violet's blood boiling, at which point (but no earlier) she'll return the favor by doing similar stuff when the ref isn't looking. Most commonly the other player will start a fight with her (even though they're the one starting the sketchy business) by losing their cool because they can dish it out but not take personal insults. Violet usually feels justified after a fight when she's neither the one starting the physical/in-game nor verbal barbs.

She's fine with sitting in the penalty box for a few minutes - so long as the other player gets at least as long over there.

Lily would definitely get into the fighting spirit with the Manhattan Rage. Specifically, she would be going against her fellow Season 73er, Betzee Nickleback. Now, it is brave to play hockey looking like an old lady, but Betzee Nickleback would have no chance against the young and spry Lily Jin Morrow.

Lily, being the kind player she is, wouldn't be the one to start a fight. Up to this point, Lily has never gotten into a fight in the SHL, preferring to show her skill on the ice. However in  this instance, while the rest of her team was fighting, Betzee Nickelback approached Lily from behind and hit her with a steel chair from the bench! Firstly, Lily wondered why the refs didn't stop Betzee from carrying a literal chair onto the ice, guessing that they were preoccupied with the other fights nearby. After that initial thought, Lily saw red and next thing she knew the fight was over. Not only did Lily knock out Betzee, but the Rage saw themselves knocked out of the playoff race. Don't mess with the Pack!

There is only one player Greyson Willis is swinging on: Tiny Princess of the Colorado Raptors. There doesn't even need to be a good reason for it. It could be a meaningless game in the middle of the regular season, halfway through the second period, tied at zero. It does not matter. Willis is going to find him on the ice and just start whaling on him for zero reason. Of course, these two players are quite different in size; Willis is only 5 foot 11, while Tiny Princess is like 6 foot 300 or something. It would probably not be a very fair or intense fight, but Willis would be able to land quite a few shots to the kidneys, stomach, or whatever else he can reach. Even if Tiny Princess doesn't react or fight back, Willis will keep going at him, because they have a rivalry to uphold. Besides, it's what the fans want to see!

So the knights have been pretty toe to toe with Quebec City all season long. We have lost quite a few games of our series and it only is going to be more likely that we are going to have to see them in the finals or deep into playoffs if we want to make a run at the cup. So in the past game of the season, Khalfani would go to make a move. As the third line center it looks to him to get some shit going. Khalfani would look to take on the first line center and really throw some serious gear into him of the giant knights. The goal here is to win and inspire the whole team to really go out at there give QCC a good one. Khalfani would definitely start it after just about any hit to one of his wingers and would be looking for that excuse all game. Khalfani doesn't really have any fighting experience, but he does have some decent strength that he would look to showcase in this matchup. The goal would be to get that helmet off and just give a good wailing.

I would definitely get into a fight iwth John Chicken. That guy is such a nerd and I'd really want to teach him a lesson about how big boys get down. He really thnks he is all that but you know what he isn't he isn't that good and he is a mean guy as wel. I would say hey look here John Chicken get over here man and I'll teach you a thing or two about a thing or two. and he'd say uhhhh ugh come on rotti dont dude and I'd be like ok pal get ready. Then we'd go down and starting bangin like some crazed dogs. overhooks underhoods doing some crazy fighting. I would say ok john chicken you dirty dog, time for the real test here and you better be ready. Then we'd tkae out some gloves and start doing big haymakers and stuff.

Prompt 1:

Emeric Gagner is by no means known as a fighter. He prefers to beat his opponents on the scoreboard rather than in the face, but he will stand up for his teammates if he has to. That said, he has never been in a fight in his career, mainly because he knows it would only end badly for him.

The only exception to that rule might be if a game against the Pride gets particularly heated. They've been beating us on the scoreboard pretty often these days so it would be very possible that frustration gets the better of him in one of those occasions. This season will be Gagner's first shot at the playoffs, and if they end up facing the Pride at any point, he has told himself he will do anything necessary to get the win. Well, at least if not on the scoreboard then maybe in a fight. He best start training now if he is to win one of those.

There is, it has been observed by many, no I in team. That being said, it has also been observed, mostly by cocky assholes, that there is an I in win. Knowing each of these axiomatic truths, I, sole winner of the 2008 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, Paul Krugman have decided to interlace each of these forces in a manner similar to the inseparable forces of the market supply and demand! I will do so by putting the I in team! I will insert myself into the machinations of my teammates whenever possible, whether they want me to do so or not. I will be providing insight into all things! Whether it is their nutritional intake, their training regimen, or more importantly, the balancing of their investments with an understanding that supply side economics will not save their manufacturing heavy portfolios! I refuse to accept anything less than a Keynesian effort from my team (Keynes was much stronger than Hercules and a herculean effort would fall short of my demands) and I will bring them with me kicking and screaming if I must!

Jiggle E Puff tries not to fight during hockey games due to his side career in the super smash brothers franchise, in which he is definitely one of the more mid options, but has been featured in every game in the series! However sometimes he decides to let his gloves fly and throw some hands on the bad guys. It normally is when another team is playing very dirty and is taking many cheap shots at some of the less tough members of the atlanta inferno, such as Phileppe Eko-Eel or Kristen Sappanen. Jiggle will always brawl to defend his friends, so brawl he shall. When he fights, he always fights fair, as he does not need any help to dominate any skater in the league. They're not used to fighting someone of JIggle's size and are thrown off by getting beated up by a two foot tall puff of air. When puff wins he hypes up the whole team!

There's a couple of things that you can do as a player to motivate the rest of the team. Motivational speeches don't really accomplish much in my opinion; teammates want to see words come to action on the ice and in practice to really drive them into that next gear. Leading by example is the single most important way to get your team ready for the grind of the playoffs. Additionally, team-building exercises can also bring everyone together to work towards a common goal and really get on the same page - both physically and mentally, especially heading into the post season. These are common throughout the regular season but everyone knows just how important they become when you head into the final stretch before the playoffs. Finally there's something to be said about not letting off the gas in the final games & how your team heads into the post-season. If you're a forward blocking shots, or a defender on the rush - small things like those could really take the team as a whole to a higher level.
