The trouble with Nevada's rivalries is that the team is essentially brand new. With so many new faces, there's little animosity built up with the other teams. Also being in a rebuild phase, we are likely to get dominated most games and are focusing on improving and having fun. Geographically, Anaheim is definitely our biggest rival. But the South West division feels a lot like college hockey in Colorado in the 90s and early 00s where CC and Denver were the nationally ranked teams and Air Force just existed (but still rivalries).

That being said, now that the season has gotten started, it appears that Nevada isn't the only team getting totally destroyed this season. As of right now, Nevada isn't even in last place, due to playing less games than Maine. On top of that, Nevada just beat defending SMJHL champions Kelowna Knights 7-5 in their first win of the season. It appears (based on goal differential) that there could be a 3 way race for the worst team in the league between Nevada, Kelowna, and Maine. One could argue that due to both teams being in the Western Conference that games against Kelowna become the circled ones on the calendar for Nevada.

Well as a first time create here and someone who has very very very little knowledge on the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League so I do not feel like I have any personal rival or any team rival for that matter. I think my team, Quebec City Citadelles, rival is probably the Nevada Battleborn because I believe they came into the league together or at least around the same time. I saw a pinned post in the Quebec City Locker Room that had a score, I think it was like QCC 11 Nevada 2, I was curious if this was like a game 7 of a playoff series or a decisive game to win a cup or something like that, they said “no it was just a regular season game against Nevada” I figured there could definitely be some beef but Jess and Jax are cool people so that really doesn't inspire me to dislike them. But oh well it is what is.

Ever since there was time, a tale of this rivalry was born. Dare I say Jurassic. The organization that is the Anaheim Outlaws has been our biggest beef and rival. Losing to them would be the equivalent of losing double back to back Four Star Cups in 7 in a row and then having the top 6 injured and out for a year. Ever since I joined the Raptors, there has always been this fierce and mighty culture of hating on the Outlaws. I have been instilled to hate them with the bottom of my human heart, no matter what happens in any game. We over here do not like the Outlaws because of their past suspect dealings, potential poaching and a trade that sent our guy to a so called contending team that really did not. Even though we may not be able to threaten them off-ice, we are able to with our mighty Dino strength on. With punishing hits, aggressive checks and hopeful, we will make them playing against us the hardest experience ever and an uncomfortable time, showing off our influence. So from I have learned, go Raptors!!!

I believe the Vancouver Whalers biggest rivalry within the simulation hockey league would have to be the Anchorage Armada, and the reason why is because when I asked in our discord server who our rival was I was told by three different people and I quote "Fucking boats are bad" this led me to believe they were referring to the Anchorage Armada, though they could have a very strange rivalry brewing with the Seattle Argonauts. A secondary team rival for Conner Tanner would have to be the Point Task team of the SMJHL because the prompt they gave me this week was very limiting in terms of what I could write about. Ultimately it is nearly impossible for any new to the league player to be aware of rivalries and why they formed, for myself I haven't been privy to the going ons of the SMJHL in nearly 10 seasons, so to ask me why I hate teams I have no knowledge of is very difficult to write about.

Without a doubt the biggest rival for the Colorado Raptors has to be the Detroit Falcons, just given the recent history between the 2 teams. In a recent playoff series between the 2 storied SMJHL franchises, the Detroit Falcons got absolutely goalied in the conference finals and were kept out of competing for the Four Star Cup in the following round, and since then there's been nothing but bad blood between the 2 teams even to this day! However, despite recent playoff intensity between the two teams, a budding geographical rivalry between Colorado and Nevada could be on the table as well given their geographical proximity, seeing as other teams in the SMJHL like Kelowna and Vancouver thrive on this locale based rivalry. Ultimately though the feisty playoff matchups really do make Detroit the top rival for the Colorado Raptors. Plus, you can never trust a team that fielded a bum player like Tig Murphy, you just gotta hate a team like that.

There's quite a lot of history between the Knights and the Whalers, to say the least. I mean, the Whalers were one of the original teams in the league in Season 1, and the Knights came in just a season later in S2. This was back when the league was still named the NWJHL (the NW standing for North West), and the name does make sense seeing as all of the teams, at that point, were indeed from the Northwest. So, not only is there a historical element to this rivalry, there is very much also a geographical element. Both Vancouver and Kelowna are located in southern BC about a 4 hour drive away from each other, so you best believe there are plenty of visiting fans that come around every time these two teams face off. The teams are division rivals (with Anchorage as an awkward third wheel of sorts) and have clashed dozens of times in the postseason, meeting once in the finals in Season 42 (where the Knights won 4-2!). While, sure, the rivalry isn't quite as strong now as it may have been at some point in the past, it is still very alive and the two teams and fanbases definitely still have plenty of bad blood. The atmosphere is always more tense than usual when the Knights face off against the Whalers.

I find rivalries to be dictated by the players and not necessarily team history in my eyes. So for me, as Clem Fandango's manager and the former representation for legend Bigga Foryu, I have to say that I have a personal rivalry with the Maine Timber. It's not a grudge or a mean spirited rivalry for me, there is no bad blood here, its more of a fun spirited battle where I intend for my client to come out on top. I have nothing but love for The Forest, but I want to win every game against them.

After 4 seasons of minding the net for Maine, they decided to pass on my client in the draft and even trade away the German cornerstone Hefeweizen this offseason, who is a close personal friend of mine. For that they must pay during their rebuild. Trees will be proven to be nothing more than a perch for the glorious Falcons. SKREEEEEEEE!

Oh, and obviously, heck the stinky boats. Sink them all day everyday. Go Birds.

For me, its really hard to pick a rival. In my last career I played a few seasons for Anaheim and despite them being the consensus rivals of Nevada I find it hard to route against them. I didn't create my player in time for the draft so I can't base any rivalries off of that however, it did take quite some time for me to receive any sort of contract offer after I re created. For that reason I am definitely on a mission to prove myself worthy of a shot and make all the GMs who didn't take the time to reach out regret it. One team I will be keeping my eye on as a potential team rival is the Maine Timber. As a rebuilding team we don't really have many even matchups throughout the league. However, Maine is in the midst of a heavy rebuild as well so there should be some close battles when we play each other this season.

This is my recreates first season, however I have been in the and around the league since early October of last year, and I can't really say that the Kraken really have a fierce rival. I asked around the Discord and got some mixed responses, but nothing where the guys went "Oh yeah THOSE guys suck!" The general consensus I got was that St. Louis is probably the closest thing we have to a rival. They are pretty well built this year, and they are in the same Division as we are, so we will face them a lot in the regular season i am sure. I do know that St. Louis and Carolina have run ins a lot repeatedly in the playoffs, so I'm sure that counts for something as well. All in all, I don't think that Carolina has any real huge beef with anyone, and we try put in maximum effort with anyone we play.

I don't think it's a massive surprise when I say the main Maine (kekw) rival are the Newfoundland Berserkers. A rich, even if not so long history between these two teams, a fairly interesting history between even the GMs of the teams, numerous playoffs matchups, one even in the finals, and so on and on. It's not an old rivarly, with years of history like some other J teams might have between each other, but it is still very much a big rivalry regardless and Newfoundland having the upper hand in all of the playoff matches these two played together doesn't help with the emotions at all. Obviously, Newfoundland, or previously Lethbridge, is a relatively new team (created in S46), and were looking for a stronger relationship with a team to appear, and got it with Maine (formerly Halifax), rising from their everlasting mediocrity of the Halifax curse into having a bit of a bite here and there and trying to compete for some awards. And where better this rivalry got it's start than the Maine's cinderella run in S55, where the finals were promising either a cup for a team that has never won it before, or a team that hasn't won it for 20+ seasons at that point.

For Big Newff, and the Maine Timber the biggest rivals are obviously Newfoundland not only personality for Newff as he is from there and they past up on him but for all of Maine we chose to go back and forth with them as we are huge rivals for a while. As I’m very new to the league it’s hard to pick them as one of the biggest rivalry this league has seen but I’m sure it is the biggest rivals for us this season and hopefully we can get the better of them in the long run, they may get the better of us this season but we have the young quality that will over come them in the future and show our dominance. personally being living there all my life it just fills the fire in me to want to beat them even more, mark my words Maine will get the better of them in the future.

For Rusty Remao, his biggest rival is Willie Miller. Going all the way back to the Prospect Showcase during the Pre-Season, Willie was the goalie for The San Diego Sand Lions. Through the Pre-Season, Willie was a strong player against Rusty's team, The Phoenix Screaming Cacti. Willie was one of the goalies that always proved to be a hard matchup and he liked to let Rusty know about it. Coming on to the ice and heading off of the ice during the games between these two teams, Willie would talk trash non-stop about the up coming draft and how he was going to beat Rusty and be drafted at a higher position than him. How Rusty sucked at goal tending and was never going to make it to the SHL as a goalie. and worst of all, how he should go get his mom to be the goalie because she's so fat that she fills up the whole net. Rusty will never forget these taunts and seeks out every opportunity he can to out play Willie no matter what.

When I joined this league in Season 49, the biggest rival for our franchise was the Anaheim Outlaws. Story time! You see, the Lethbridge Lions used to be an SMJHL franchise in the olden days (think Season 5-10ish). The franchise was revived, at the same time as the Outlaws were created, in Season 45, to deal with the influx of new S46 players coming in - which was a very astute decision, as the Outlaws ended up winning the Cup in S48 with mostly S46 players leading the charge.

That Cup win soured us in Lethbridge, as we had been left in shambles by bad management, and a seemingly empty Locker Room. jnh and SDCore, with the help of Carpy and I, looked to reinvigorate the franchise - and that's where the decision to rebrand to the Newfoundland Berserkers came. The transition of the Halifax Raiders to the Maine Timber happened at around the same time, so the timing was perfect for us.

Since the transition to Newfoundland, we have found ourselves an even greater rival, one that stopped us from fully establishing dominance on the Eastern Conference : the Carolina Kraken. Not only did they move out of beautiful Montréal (a shame, really), but they were always in the thick of things to compete for the Four-Star Cup - and eliminated us in back-to-back seasons, en route to their championships. When we finally beat them (and won the Four-Star Cup!) in Season 55, it was like having a 400-pound gorilla off our backs. The rivalry isn't as heated as it used to be, but in my opinion, all it'll take is one small playoff series for the hatred between those teams to reignite.
