I think the sample size is a bit too small if you're only looking at this playoffs. Including the last one it seems like there is more work to be done, but that being said, some of the contract changes have started to hit the big teams and new regression goes in this off-season, which in theory should shorten competitive windows.

I still think a big issue here is that the RFA period is shorter than the time it takes to be a useable player at the SHL level (for the most part). In the NHL teams hold RFA rights for a good chunk of their prime, while in the SHL teams generally lose rights immediately after their rookie year or so.
