Lazer Gato was upcoming to the Junior Hockey League in an unconventional story that started in the streets of Tijuana Mexico. Born a city cat Gato had to scrap and fight to survive in the concrete jungle of Tijuana living off leftovers of discarded food and drinking from rain puddles. In his teenage years Gato would find a home with the local kids who played street hockey on Friday nights near Avenida Revolucion. This is where Lazer Gato's hockey journey would begin as he was able to pick up some of hockey basics just from watching the young children. One one fateful dry summer night Gato found himself drinking from an unsuspecting puddle the industrial district diseño industrial tec tijuana. Little to his knowledge radioactive industrial waste from a nearby plant had leaked into the puddle. The radioactive material caused Gato to go under a transformation where he grew to the size of a small dog, and gained lazer speed, vision, and opposable thumbs. The street cat quickly became known all through Tijuana as a street hockey star, and rapidly garnered interest from SMJHL Scouts in nearby California. Before long Gato found himself an agent, and entered the S71 SMJHL draft. An unconventional upcoming for an unconventional player, Gato has a lot to prove in the Juniors, but this cat has the kitten mittens to brawl with the best of them.

I walked down the street from my billet family's house to the practice rink. Behind me rolled my hockey bag, still bearing the logo of OSU hockey. At one point, I had wanted to play for OSU in the NCAA, and take a shot at an SHL career from there. But then, the J called. I had been selected to be entered into the S70 SMJHL Draft. It had been an amazing day. I had been in the garage shooting at the net we kept in there, when my mom came out with the house phone and handed it to me. The words "you have been selected for entry in the Season 70 SMJHL Draft" will never leave my brain.
Since then, I had been drafted to the Kelowna Knights as their first pick. Originally I had planned on being drafted in the second round by a different team, but after the initial shock, I was thrilled to wear the Green and Gold. Since then, it had been a few weeks here in Kelowna. The place was beautiful, even in the winter. I looked around at the views, and noticed an older woman walking towards me. I politely nodded at her and she smiled at me. "You're that new Winger from the States aren't you? Crystal McLeod!" I was taken aback for a second. I had always been a lower-line Enforcer. Memorable at best for punching and hitting hard. And here I was being recognized on the street by a random fan of the team I played on. "Uhh, yes, ma'am, that's me." I smiled nervously and nodded at the Ohio State logo on my bag. "I saw you make some big hits the other night dearie, keep up the good work, give them hell!" She smiled once more and continued on her way. I nodded and my smile became genuine. That day during practice I fell very easily into my groove and performed well in the games after. That random act of appreciation meant so much to a kid trying her best to adjust to wildly new circumstances. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Activity Check has a unique upcoming to the Junior Hockey League in an unconventional story that started in the streets of the online forums. He is born in online forums In his teenage years, usually found on sub-menus where people endlessly type in stupid things to earn virtual points called T P E, otherwise known as 'teeps' or TPE for short. Activity Check's journey would begin as he was able to pick up some of hockey basics just from watching the nhl, obviously. It's weird though, i feel like sometimes people just use me to get these points, but sometimes its hard to say for sure. The Activity Check, though, the myth the legend became known through Yellowknife as a street hockey star, and rapidly garnered interest from SMJHL Scouts all over the place. however Activity check refused to answer messages because Activity Check is very lazy. Backup Goalie is defintely what the role is for AC. Before long Activity Check found himself an agent, and entered the S71 SMJHL draft. An unconventional upcoming for an unconventional player, Activity Check has a lot to prove in the Juniors, and needs to prove he is more than something someone clicks on to get things - i can actually provide value.

The Simulation Hockey League draft was the most exciting time in Vancouver Whalers forwards Thomas Liebolds life. It was when his professional hockey career truly stated to begin. As one of the top earning players in his draft class, one of the nominees for SMJHL Rookie of the Year and close ties to Baltimore Platoon co general Manager Adam Liebold he was sure he would be drafted high in the first round. Everything changed once the draft started, as Liebold started to watch the SHL teams make their picks and did not see his name yet he began to worry. However he was still hopeful seeing that the Platoon had three picks coming up at the seventh ninth and fifteenth overall. With the seventh pick they selected Bellamy Blake, an obvious pick after he dropped that late in the draft, then the ninth pick came up and Liebold really began to worry when the Platoon selected Jay Bryzi. Again another great selection but that was where Liebold expected he was going. Just like that Liebold thought his SHL dreams were dying. As the draft continued he continued to worry until he saw that the Platoon traded up to get the twelfth pick in the draft and selected him. Liebold was ecstatic after getting drafted and even happier when he entered the Baltimore locker room and was greeted with a warm welcome from his new teammates.

As I've been very open about in the past, my primary inspiration for all things in life are built upon the repeated viewing and appreciation of the unquestioned 1988 Jean Claude Van Damme masterpiece Bloodsport. The clear next step in my Frank Dux esque progression is to find the two men (or women) who will take me to the next level... I need a Jackson and a Tanaka. For any uncultured swine reading this, Jackson is Dux's friend he makes at the Kumite. They play video games together, and Jackson got his ass handed to him by Chong Li to inspire my victory. Tanaka, is the wise man who trained Dux in the martial sciences (because martial arts are for liberal pansies or something) Tanaka tortured Dux's mind and body as a child in order for him to become a man who could defeat Chong Li.
My plan to acquire both these chums is as follows: Step 1: Find a Kumite in my local city and any cities in which we are the visitor. If there is no Kumite in Las Vegas, I will start one. Having said that, I don't think it will be hard to find one with so many gamblers about. Step 2: Fliers. When in doubt, just put out some fliers Step 3: Victory 218 words ![]() Registered Junior Member

In a not so recent past, the town of Conception Bay South in Newfoundland held the U18 Provincial Championships which saw the CBS Raiders taking on their rival opponent the CBN Stars in the finals. Going into the tournament, the division leading Stars had the upper hand with a record of 9-1 against the Raiders, with the Raiders only win coming in a game that saw the Stars without their All Star Goalie and ex-teammate, Rodney Dawe. All the hype going into this game surrounded Dawe and the Raiders rookie sensation Bill Taylor, who ended the year leading in scoring and was tied for 1st in the tournament. But, the headline the next day in The Shoreline was much different: RAIDERS DEFEAT STARS 2-1 ON WALSH'S EARLY OVERTIME GOAL. And thats how the Legend began.
Second year player and Assistant Captain Chris Walsh was not known as a big time scorer and flew below the radar usually setting up his linemates game in and game out, but on this day he would play the hero. In a 1-1 game late in the 3rd, Walsh was breaking out his own zone when an opposing player stripped him of the puck, stepped on Walsh's blade and went down. The ref was quick to put his arm up and called a 2 minute tripping minor with only 45 seconds left to play. With his head hung low, Walsh was in the box and could only watch as his team desperately killed off the remaining time, setting up the Local Miracle on Ice. When OT began, Walsh was overheard saying "If you guys kill this one, I'll end it". 30 seconds pass; 1 min gone. He's now standing in the box ready to go. Penalty over. Walsh sprints out of the box, finds himself all alone in the slot, picks up a rebound, he shoots.........GOAL!!!!!! The CBS Raiders have defeated the CBN Stars in OT!!!!!! Now, with his minor hockey days behind him, Chris Walsh patiently awaits to see where he will land in the SMJHL. Only time will tell if his legend will grow, or rest on that hill he had conquered in his glory days! 372 words ![]() IIHF Federation Head Not a Commissioner. Shh!
Dominik’s first season was marked by a reasonable amount of individual success but not as much team success as he would have liked. The team struggled throughout the season, and there is certainly plenty of room for growth with both the team and him as a player. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there weren’t highs this season for Dominik. As any rookie knows, some of the biggest highs were the first game, first point, and first goal in the SMJHL. Dominik’s first game was a shootout loss to Kelowna, but he didn’t really care, it was validation that he was even playing in the league. The first point? Well that was a bit of a monkey off the back kind of thing. When you’re taken in the top 3 of a draft, it’s expected you’ll hit the ground running. Dominik didn’t get a point in his first three games and the sports media started to whisper a bit. But he did get on track once he got that first point. He had 5 points in the next three games to get rolling a bit for the Scarecrows. The first goal took even longer, coming in his 15th game in the SMJHL. It wasn’t a game winner or anything fairytale like that, it was the 4th goal in a 5-0 rout of Vancouver. But it was one that Dominik would never forget.

With the first pick in the second round the Manhattan Rage select, Carolina Kraken Right Wing, Alexej Kastrba. Hearing those words over the speakers sent a flood of memories into my head. You see, my father David Kastrba had played for the Rage through out his whole SHL career. I was born in the midst of it all… so some of my earliest core memories were formed right inside the walls of Madison Square Garden, the home of the Manhattan Rage. I remember being in the hallways and locker room with my dad, getting to meet all of his teammates. I would say I fell in love with hockey right in the MSG stands, the atmosphere is quite unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced. There are an unlimited amount of picture perfect memories that I can pick out of my head and relive at any moment that I want. That place already holds a special place in my heart and it’s mind blowing to think that I can continue to make new memories there, all from a different perspective with new meaning. Following in my fathers footsteps has always been a dream of mine that I hope to make a reality. The roots are planted, now it’s just time to bring a Challenge Cup back to New York City.

During the draft, Ryan Quintana Green was pretty much only focused on hockey. But one day, everything changed. Quintana Green is also a rapper, and makes music which he posts on Soundcloud. If you know anything about Soundcloud, it is the platform on which some of the biggest artists of this generation of rap blew up from. XXXTentacion, Juice WRLD, Ski Mask the Slump God, just to name a few. This platform can launch careers, but it was not expected to launch the rap career of an up and coming hockey player. Since he got drafted to Baltimore, the rap fans in Maryland discovered his Soundcloud and it ended up going viral. Do the fans actually like the music? Or just listen to it because it was made by one of the teams newest players? The jury is still out on that one, but Ryan Quintana Green is hoping that it can be the start of something more, another avenue to pursue in addtion to hockey. Hockey will always remain his number one priority, but dont be surprised if during free skate he is doing some free styling which gliding around the ice. He could easily be the SHLs first ever player/rapper. who knows? Maybe he'll drop diss tracks on the other teams!

Sean did not take the typical path to the pros. Growing up in poverty, he didn’t even lace up a pair of ice skates until high school. However, he was no stranger to hockey.
While all his friends and family loved football, the young Sean spent countless hours playing hockey video games and he couldn’t imagine playing any other sport. Not being able to afford equipment, he found an old stick at a thrift store and hit the streets. For years, he dominated the street hockey courts of Dallas, TX. It was there that he developed his defensive prowess and tenacity. He was known for playing 1 vs 3 against anyone willing to challenge him, for a small wager of course. I can’t remember a trio ever being able to score on him. Sean saved his winnings until he was able to afford equipment and enough time in the rink to transition his skills to the ice. All came so naturally to him that he couldn’t help but to shed a tear, he had found his purpose. Senior year in high school he signed up for the hockey team, feeling confident he could step in and compete right away. Instead, he dominated! He was smarter, quicker, stronger, and incredibly more talented than anyone on the ice. There was a new prospect on everyone’s radar. ![]() Registered Member
While growing up, Sith Happens played with many different people but, one particular player stands out in his mind with absolute disgust. Trevor Lahey. In a 13U championship game, Trevor decided to take his frustrations out on Sith. He purposely jumped on Sith's stick breaking it and almost slashing his right leg pad as well. Now Sith did not come from a house of money and that stick was his precious pro stock stick from Vasilevsky. So of course Sith couldn't let that slide and tomahawked the broken shaft at Lahey thus resulting in a goalie/player fight. Bad blood formed fast between the two. A few years later, they had another run in with each other. Lahey decided to make fun of his wrinkled face that was caused by an unfortunate electric accident. The first chance Sith got, he decked Lahey with his blocker resulting in another fight and an ejection to which the team lost with their backup goalie. Now, both Lahey and Sith happen to be in the same league again, on opposing teams. Who knows what will happen when they face off again on the ice. Sith is not one to give up a grudge so easily.

When Trevor was just a young lad, playing hockey was his favorite thing to do. In Fact, he liked it so much that he was able to find a really good team and make it all the way to a championship game, a 13U championship game to be exact. He was in the running to be the league MVP, no one could stop Trevor from scoring, well that was until this game. During this game Trevor was getting open left and right, but every time he took a shot, it would be blocked/caught. Well... the oddest thing would happen when this goalie would block his shot, he would laugh... Every time, this started to frustrate Trevor. Well after a few more time of this happening, Trevor stomped his skate in anger, but what he didn't know was that this goalie had moved his stick at that exact moment, Trevor had stomped on the stick by mistake. This action caused him to lose his balance causing his stick to hit this goalie on his right leg pad. Little did he know that it was precious to this goalie. Trevor was embarrassed from this accident and started to skate away, when he felt something hit him from behind. The goalie had tackled him, which resulted in a fight. This Resulted in a heated rivalry between the two. This goalies name is Sith Happens. Years later the two players met again. Trevor was warming up with his teammates, he was laughing and having a good time when this goalie from all those years ago skated by. Trevor remembered this goalie laughing at him all those years ago decided to make a joke about this goalie face. What Trevor didn't know was that this goalie wrinkled face was the result of an electrical accident. This caused another fight to break out. Both players were ejected before the game even started. Now many years later these two players are in the same league again, both on different teams. who knows what will happen between Trevor and Sith. Hopefully the two players can be mature and become civil human beings.

In an alternate universe (TV show), Bellamy Blake has been through the ringer. In fact, he would not ever have dreamed of playing hockey, and probably didn’t even know what hockey was. That’s because he was born in space on The Ark, roughly 90 years after civilization was destroyed. Sports were not fresh in anyones mind. When Blake went on the drop ship down to the ground for the first time, he wasn’t even supposed to be on it. He came down to watch out for his sister, Octavia. When he reached the ground, he assumed a leadership role over the 100 who also made the trip. At first, his leadership style contrasted with that of Clarke Griffin, a girl who had formed her own sort of faction on Earth. But as the adventure got tougher, danger levels increased and many threats presented themselves, Bellamy and Clarke became close friends, bonded together with their shared experiences. Bellamy at times made the wrong choices, but overall he acted out of being protective of Octavia, fighting for his people, and doing what he felt was right. Most of his friends had to consistently make morally Grey choices too, so who’s to say who was right and who was wrong? Bellamy met an unfortunate end in “Season 7”, but we just like to pretend that didn’t happen. Seriously, what end? :(

Mick Mayhem's path to hockey greatness is not the traditional story, it began when he found himself lost at sea. A passionate adventurer, Mick set sail on a solo expedition, but fate had other plans. Caught in a treacherous storm, his boat was capsized, he eventually washed up on shore with nothing but his trusty Axe and a loin cloth.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months as Mick battled the unforgiving elements. But his determination and never give up attitude powered him forward. With each passing day, he became more determined to return home. Eventually Mayhem got sick of waiting to be rescued, and took to the seas to swim until he found his homeland. After a brief 15 minute swim Mayhem arrived at a familiar beach. Upon returning home, Mick's story of survival captured the attention of the hockey world. The Maine Timber, a team in the SMJHL, recognized his remarkable journey and offered him a chance to pursue his passion for the game. Mick embraced the opportunity, honing his skills and quickly making a name for himself on the ice. His relentless work ethic and intimidating presence in Maine caught the attention of scouts from the Manhattan Rage. The Rage selected Mayhem in the SHL draft and he will join them once his playing days in Maine are over. Mick Mayhem's incredible journey, from being lost at sea to becoming a celebrated player in the SMJHL and ultimately drafted by the Manhattan Rage, serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity. He also still wears his loin cloth under his uniform every game. ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Chicken was sitting there on his chair, checking the many predictions coming along that were constantly changing on which team he would join. Having some small conversations to the last few GM’s before the SHL draft. This felt a lot more exciting than the SJHML draft, where during the last weeks there weren’t that many talks with GM’s left, and Chicken was already pretty confident of getting picked up by the Yukon Malamutes, which did eventually happen. This time Furious Chicken was wanted by quite a few teams, predicted to go to the Baltimore Platoon, before the predictions changed to the Toronto North Stars wanting to pick up Furious Chicken. Eventually it was neither of these teams, as despite the Toronto North Stars moving up to 2nd overall they didn’t pick Furious Chicken, which caused the Edmonton Blizzards, which did tell Chicken they were interested, but were looking very unlikely with their 11th overall, to trade up to 3rd overall to ensure they could pick up Furious Chicken during the S71 SHL draft. This fun phenomenon did cause Furious Chicken to be picked up by a trade that happened during the draft in both the SJHML (Yukon Malamutes trading from 16th to 13th) as well as the SHL draft (Edmonton Blizzards trading from 11th to 3rd) to the dismay of the draft predictions (or in this case for some people for the good of the predictions, as the initial Toronto North Stars prediction was for Chicken to go 3rd).
