Multiple people suggesting that new users have a place to learn more about what goes into their nation choice and the # of actives per nation has me thinking: can someone confirm if the IIHF Birthplace Guide is still included in the create a player form?
I know when it was on the site as opposed to the portal, it was a link right next to the birthplace drop down to try and help explain things from the get-go. I know it's not perfect, the suggestions here just have me a little worried that it's no longest supported in the portal. 01-10-2025, 11:45 PMCount Chocula Wrote: Change the playoff format to be like the actual IIHF. Way back in the day we did not run IIHF every season but when we did it was the Olympics and it created a lot of buzz and excitement.
I don't believe going back to once every 2 or 4 seasons is the answers but we need something different to kick start IIHF. Another thing, their is no real rivals in IIHF so it is hard to build the same locker room connections you build over months and seasons within your own SHL locker room. Maybe form set divisions and promote team rivals? ![]() Sig by Lazyeye

I for one would have more interest in the IIHF if there was a larger gap between tournaments. It would give it time to build some excitement around it rather than the tournament being "that thing" that happens between every SHL/SMJHL seasons.

That means an even more dead LR, basically just focusing on how good a player will be in 2-4 seasons, destroys the awards pov of it and the historical value of stats. ![]() Registered I'm a mess in distress ![]() SMJHL GM Posting Freak
Since the dust is settling a bit, I feel it's the right time to suggest something here .
In any justice system, punishment serves to deter, rehabilitate, or penalize. Simple suggestion would be to ensure that the IIHF HO has more tools to properly address different types of infractions. Sometimes a warning is more than enough to ensure a situation doesn't happen again. It may not appear as much in terms of suggestion but I think that a broader choice of punishments and a possible change of focus as to the intended goal for said punishments had to be mentioned. Thank you for opening this thread tho. It shows a desire to have an open dialogue with the goal to improve the league. :-)

I know I'm in the minority, but I always think we should start by making the offseason longer. And yes, I know people already complain that it's *too* long, especially if they miss the playoffs. But a lot of those people also pay no attention to or get involved in all the events that happen during the offseason. There are two international tournaments, all star festivities, awards, and two drafts. I think those events (and the relevant PTs like CW/ASW) need more time to breathe and more time to be the focal point. If you want them to feel important, you have to show people that they're important, and the easiest way to do that is to give them time in the spotlight rather than having them all be "the stuff that happens when the league isn't."

I'll preface this by saying I don't pay close attention to IIHF roster announcements and am admittedly ignorant of the IIHF rules and process. That said, one frustrating/disappointing thing I experienced with my first player was unknowingly being left off the Team USA roster and finding out once the tournament began. Between the roster announcement and the start of the tournament, I don't know if you're allowed to or have time to transfer but considering my player still had almost 1300 TPE, I imagine he could have been an asset for another team. Perhaps this is a flaw/limitation, I'm dumb, or both but maybe something that could be improved?
