AT-AT has actually been kind of upset that so far in the SHL he has not gotten into a single fight. He got into a fair number of fights in the SMJHL and had a pretty good record. He even spent probably too much time in the gym learning how to fight properly. But so far, almost 3 full seasons into his career, he hasn't found anyone willing to drop the gloves and have a donnybrook. I know there are players out there who aren't afraid to mix it up but for whatever reason, it just doesn't seem to happen. You'd think especially with the number of blowouts that happen that some teams would respond with more aggression and knock a few teeth out, rather than just rolling over and giving up without a response. AT-AT is especially annoyed because his rookie teammate already has 2 fights, which were rightfully his as the self-appointed enforcer on the team. Ah well maybe a few more dozen TPE into aggression and one day he will get his wish. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Luca is no stranger to dropping the mitts and sticking up for his teammates. While in the second half of the season, against Texas no less, Luca decided the team needed a boost right off the bat for that playoff push. The only logical thing to do is drop the gloves right off the opening face off. You have to set the tone early, and Captain Pane knows this. Texas’ Marton Diehm would be the dance partner this time around. You could see it when they lined up at center ice, these two wanted to a fight and they were about to get it. The two veterans duke it out causing the fans to go nuts, but in the end, Luca would find his way to victory after a stunner of a hook. While Luca skated off to the box, his team mates now full of fire, go out and show Texas why New Orleans is going to win the division.

Well, with Nevada being in a rebuild year, but every team in the J making the playoffs, there is a bit of a conundrum isn't there? If they win, they need to go all the way or else it would be "wasting" a prime draft pick for nothing. Claude, having a rough season himself, he wants to finish strong for the sake of his own pride, and he's naturally ended up in a leadership position on the team. He needs to both talk the talk and walk the walk for the team's many rookies. The first step would be taking it up a notch in practice. Show some intensity, and work to get consistency in himself, encouraging and pushing his teammates to finish strong. Before the playoffs, he would need to talk to the team. He needs to stress to them to be patient, that even if they get bounced early, the end goal is the Four Star Cup and they need to pick themselves up, learn from this, and come back stronger. So the key is for this series, find that next gear. Win some games if they can, but if we are one and done, we are going to make the other team sweat for their ticket to the second round. A strong future for the Battleborn starts now. ![]() Registered [title redacted] ![]() Registered Senior Member ![]() Simmer Simmer

With the playoffs coming down the pipeline, Blade Hunter knows this is when the real shiznizz begins. It ain’t just about skill anymore, it’s about who wants it more baby. Some guys try to lead by talking a big game, some by example, and Blade does both. First, he ramps up his own game by pushing harder in practices and staying after for extra drills, setting the tone that there’s no room for slacking. If he’s going full tilt, no excuses, the rest of the team better follow. But he also knows team chemistry matters, so he pulls the guys together off the ice too. Team dinners, late night strategy sessions, even just a group outing to clear their heads before the final push. Whatever it takes to make sure they’re all locked in. And if that ain't enough? He’s got one last move, a speech in the locker room before every game, reminding them why they started this climb and what’s at stake. Nobody’s backing down now. The pre-playoff traditions around Montreal don’t really exist, given that the vast majority of the group have yet to play in the SHL playoffs. Only those who have come from other teams have that wealth of experience behind them, and as such, the team would certainly look for extra leadership from those players. However, Ju-gong had plenty of trial runs with the post-season in Quebec, and not just a few games, but enough to make him the leader in team history in playoffs wins. He’s been in a Four Star Cup final as the starter, and also guarded the net in three other conference final series. Given all of that early postseason experience, along with being the Captain of the current day Patriotes, Ju-gong too would be a leader for the group heading down the stretch. That said, nothing about the practice should change at all. Championship mentality is something you practice each and every day, not something you start just before the playoffs begin. Thus, he would simply help make sure his teammates stay locked in, and down get high on the new expectations the media has been assigning them. ![]() SHL GM Quebecer trying to make goalie TPE matter in Texas

We have a history of being a good team in the last 7-8 seasons so not giving your 100% is not acceptable. As the goalie, I can see if someone is not giving enough effort and when it happens, it's mostly my job to compense and sometimes it's not enough and there is a goal against us because of that. I don't show it on the ice, but after the period I will go see the player and telling him (in a peaceful way and not as a rebuke) that the things he did is unacceptable. Sometimes the player tell it himself that what he did was not good enough and he will do better. After the deadline when we know the team we have will not change, we do a team building activity before we give our 100% focus on the playoffs race. We love doing outside activities with the team, nothing too much physical as we don't want to hurt ourself, but some light physical activities to help the moral and have a good time. |
