From what I hear from Ottawa fans this is a pretty decent deal for us. I would've liked to see us land Lack, but it sounds like Lehner may be the real deal when the rest of our team is finally coming together. ![]() Appeals Committee S10 Challenge Cup Champion Quote:Originally posted by gseefeldt89@Jun 26 2015, 03:31 PM Over on HFBoards basically every Sabres fan hates it (me included), the only ones who are telling us it's a decent deal is the Sens fans who come over to visit  ![]() Registered S10, S18 Challenge Cup Champion
The complication for me with the Lehner trade is that I don't see him as significantly better than some of the UFA options that were out there. That said, you can't fault Murray for being indecisive. He targets a guy and he does what it takes to get there. Raises my hopes for Hudson Fasching even more

Didn't get to watch this live, but, damn do I have goosebumps watching this. ![]() Registered S8, S9, S35 Challenge Cup Champion
That trade wasn't bad enough to warrant a "**** you Tim Murray" IMO. Definitely not his best but he is a guy not afraid to get what he wants, and if he feels Lehner is the answer then I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt right now. The prize is definitely puzzling considering the value of netminders and the UFA options. He at least gets a young guy with RFA status and can control the contract a bit as the team grows, I do like that. Besides, nabbing RO'R out of this makes the Lehner trade easier to handle now IMO, I was a bit worried we were out of the running after it.
Overall amazing day for Sabres fans. ![]() ![]() ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ryan Jesster - HoF Goalie (S1-S14) Proud Calgary Dragon Alumni ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered bae

Solid draft all around. No "sexy" picks but I am intrigued. Stocking up the Defense pool. Atleast they realized they needed to do that. Like the kid they picked with the amazing name out of Lethbridge.
Really happy they went WHL heavy. Now i can follow better! ![]() Made by Rindiee, rum_ham & Carpy Jacob Mueller S5-S Julien Dupont S6-S13 S9 Challenge Cup - Calgary Dragons IIHF Gold - Germany Rufus Reinhart S13-S24 S14 Challenge Cup - Texas Renegades Christoffer Björnsson - S25-S35 S25 Four Stars Cup S26 Tom Corcoran Trophy - SMJHL Top Goalie Sami Owens - S36-S52 S38 IIHF Bronze - Canada S39 IIHF Gold - Canada S42 IIHF Silver - Canada S51 Challenge Cup Champion - HAM Liam Slate - S54-Present S53 WJC Bronze - British Isles S54 WJC Silver - British Isles S55 Four Star Cup Champion - Newfoundland Berserkers S57 IIHF Silver - Great Britain S58 IIHF Silver - Great Britain S60 IIHF Silver - Great Britain S61 IIIHF Gold - Great Britain S67 Challenge Cup Champion - Seattle Argonauts S68 Challenge Cup Champion - Seattle Argonauts Triple Gold Club Sad Ketchup -Present S76 Ryan Jesster Trophy Winner ![]() Registered S8, S9, S35 Challenge Cup Champion

I was a little unhappy about the Lehner trade, but looking at the weekend on the whole it's clear we came out WAY ahead of where we started.

Buffalo center core is scary, Eichel, Reinhart, Girgensons. ROR can play center as well. An ufa dman and Buffalo can fight for a wild card spot.

I don't necessarily think he's worried about how they finish.
They definitely have a chance this year with what they've done though. The way I see he just skipped a couple years in the rebuild. Trading picks for players who are 23 and 24 then drafting Eichel who obviously has a game that is matured beyond that of an 18 year old. It's good shit. I'd love to see them make the play offs this year but if they don't it's not the end of the world clearly. It's awesome seeing how different the roster they'll ice this season is already. Damn I'm excited. ![]() ![]() Registered S30, S31 and S33 Challenge Cup Champion and Wonderbolt Quote:Originally posted by Zaitsev@Jun 27 2015, 03:08 PM Agreed. For me the Kane trade was the first sign that Murray wasn't just going to sit around and wait for this rebuild to happen, but instead he wanted to move ahead as quickly as possible. This is the most excited I've been for a Sabres season since Briere and Drury left, and I can't wait to see what they pull off in the coming years. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Senior Member
Yeah dude this is an exciting time.
Just a side note too. I've heard really good things about Devante Stephens. His improvement over this past season was massive. He was projected to perhaps not even make the team and then ended up playing big minutes by the time they were in the Memorial Cup finals. Someone to watch for. ![]() |
