Because he agrees it was out of line and emotions were running high, he accepted his punishment for stepping over the line with his comments and we spoke in private that he had not heard from a friend in Paris and could cannot contact him.

While validity of this is of course subjective, I preferred to take him at his face value. A reaction like that I'd expect from a lot of people if they thought their friend was killed.

He will of course be on a zero tolerance for repeated actions of this sort, though I have doubt it will occur again.

He did, his initial post was clearly directed at the terrorists/ISIS. He did however make quite a few unnecessary racial slurs which was the issue.
