cool man - word of advice but save your next article until draft week. you'll get a 2x bonus, and if it's anything like this you'll pretty much set yourself up to be the highest $ earner in your draft class and probably be set for money for at least two seasons.

if you have any questions about what to look at, PM me. love helping with this stuff.

he gets 2x for it being his first media.

ya for sure and when he writes his next one he's going to get another 2x bonus on a 6000-8000 word article and basically gonna have enough money to buy a private island or maybe even a house in toronto

im like 90% sure it has to be draft related to get the 2x draft week media. Not all articles posted that week get it but since most are draft related it seems that way.

This is correct.

Question 1: Why did you use a metric that is directly correlated to number of goals scored and not average the assists by the number of goals scored? Would this not be a better way to look at the data if your argument is teamwork?

Question 2: Why not take a look at the passes and pass completion percentage numbers to analyze teamwork

Like you noted, assists are one indicator of teamwork, but there are other factors that can skew the analysis a bit, such as the team's overall offensive output. Better teams tend to score more goals, which creates more opportunities for assists, which may or may not say something about the quality of the team play vs. the lethality of the team's goal scorers (or in other cases, how lucky the team is getting).

One thing we have learned through recent analysis is this: more possession of the puck equals more chances to generate shots on goal, which means more chances to score goals, meaning more chances for assists. It's for this reason that puck possession has become the basis for advanced statistical analysis in hockey. We can try to infer some of the same things in our league by looking at a team's shot attempts, shots blocked, and puck control time (PC) in the offensive zone. These are all tracked in the sim - though unfortunately, individual giveaways and takeaways are not.

Here's a pretty good summary of the basics of statistical analysis in the modern game. If you're interested in data science and new to the sport, I hope you'll find it interesting:

Welcome to the league! Looking forward to your next article.

Nice article.  I recently just started learning R and I wanted some data sets to practice on.  Maybe Ill just go ahead and use SHL data.
