Nah long story short jigglys player was so horrible that the only way to mitigate the defensive liability they posed was to move their player to the 4th line and leave a blank spot on the third and limit their ice time further. I did not realize their was a rule against leaving a blank spot in the lines so it was cheating

And now let Hamilton also pay the draftees the salary that was bidded for them. It's sad seeing people like Jay Cue go from 6M (last i checked, maybe higher by now) to 2.5M. And if they can't pay it, take it from their budget 6 seasons from now.

Are we gonna talk about the fact that the owners didn't know about the rulebook update posted last week about the RFA draft rights rules when making their decision, as admitted by one of the owners in GM chat..

Except it was made pretty clear that the almighty owners decision is final, which im sorry, there is no situation where a group of mostly inactive users should have the final power here. I was too busy following this in all detail yesterday so my initial thoughts where "Hamilton got their signings done in private conversations and only forgot to post them in the proper place. Seems like people are overreacting a bit, this doesn't feel like something that deserves a big punishment especially if it would impact rookies who did nothing wrong". But the more I read into it, the more I read about the new rule being implemented just recently and about the Owners taking over this process from the Head Office, the more I understand the outrage.

Wtf owners, just... wtf? This is not something that should ever happen, its as close as a league like this can come to a constitutional crisis. This is such a clear abuse of power if what has been said in here is true, and it sure seems to be because it is not being contested despite Owners having posted in here.

You guys are supposed to handle appeals or step in in really league-critical situations when much is at risk. Instead you take a non-critical decision away from HO in order to shield a team AND also abolish the chance at an appeal at the same time? That is bullshit even without taking the content of ruling into account, the process is what is fucked up here and how you have hurt the integrity of the league.

And then you let the one Owner handle and/or post this who spent almost all of his time in the league as an integral member of the team whose punishment you need to decide on? Teddy is one of the more trustworthy members on this site but how can there be a more blatant conflict of interest? Even if the call he makes is completely fair and impartial, the ruling will simply never have the legitimacy it needs because of that. In situations like these, people with such an conflict of interest either recuse themselves completely or at least take on a rather quiet role only providing occasional feedback, but you make him the head of the whole operation? Again, wtf?

And yes, it is absolutely relevant to compare this to past punishments. We have seen GMs get fired or punished much more severely for similar or even much smaller oversights in recent years. Nobody protected them because "the rules are the rules", nobody gave them leeway because "the spirit of the rule is not aimed at your case". And now suddenly Hamilton gets that protection that no one else got for whatever reason?

It's especially ridiculous if you compare it to the situation at the start of the S50s, when Hamilton broke the sim with their shady tactics. Back then the (correct) conclusion was "What they did was shitty but they didn't technically break any rules, so we can't punish them". And now today the conclusion is "They did technically break the rules, but, like, that's now how the rule was meant, you know?" and they get off easy again. So apparently you can take two completely opposite lines of argumentation and can apply whichever one you deem fits, to ensure that Hamilton doesn't get punished. You don't need to believe in a big Pro-Steelhawks conspiracy to see the double-standard that many people are alleging in here.

Just wtf. This is really bad.

Even though the OP says we can't, has anyone tried to officially appeal this yet?

Either it works and we can indeed revisit this shitty decision together and maybe fix it, or we at least force the Owners to tell us to our faces they won't allow it, making the abuse of power that happened here clearly visible.
