MVP is an interesting vote given the different roles players play in this league, so I'm going to offer a mildly biased look at a few contributors and reasons why they might be a viable MVP.
Robert Black - - The easiest vote to give out here as the overall points leader. The interesting part of this is that 80% of his points come from assists, meaning that he makes his team shine around him. He also is #4 on shots taken so is a constant threat to keep the goalie honest. Even though I would want a Falcon to win, this is the choice for me. The Beserkers are just playing out of their mind this year, and hes the man pulling the strings.
Kermit Murphy - - I know this is a homer pick, but it can't be overstated how important Kermit has been to keeping this team in decent form. He's constantly contributing in every facet of the game, especially in the Detroit offense. With an almost equal distribution of points (47) from assists and goals, he is a consumate team player and forward. He leads the team in points, goals, assists, SOG, and is second for blocked shots as a C (91). He does it all and leads us.
Clem Fandango - - Because Clem is a golden treasure of the gods. He leads all rookies in the most important stat, PIM. If you aint in the sin bin you aint gonna win.
It's pretty easy who to pick for this year's Ideen Fallah Trophy. Look no further than Rob Black. He's easy the best in the league leading in points whilst playing for the best team in the league in Newfoundland Berserkers. He's lead the team a solid 12 points ahead of second place in the league (with an unhealthy 27 point lead ahead of second in the conference). Rob Black has won the game for Berserkers when they needed him, made his teammates around him better, and cab but even force the team to switch to their backup after taking any self-confidence the goalie had. Rob Black for MVP
At first glance at the scoring leaders, you see two teams light up like Christmas lights on a pine tree : Newfoundland and Anchorage are dominating outrageously thanks to their relentless offensive force they both boast. In that context, it is with no surprise that I'm turning towards... Vancouver for my personal candidate for Most Valuable Player.
You see, to me, the MVP must play on both sides of the ice, must play a lot, and his impact must be felt whenever he is on the ice. The player that I'd like to highlight today is a teammate in the Swiss locker room, although he is here on sanctuary from his home world. But his efficient and gracious play, for someone with as many limbs as he possesses, as well as his unshakeable stamina to play over 23 minutes a night (a league high), and in all situations, as can be indicated by his high numbers on both the PP and PK. And as if that wasn't enough, he boasts one of the highest CF% Rel of the league at 8.1.
To me, even if a Robert Black or Gregory Goode might feel like a "solid" pick, there is only one player I'd look towards for MVP, and it is NARBOZA MANYHANDS!
While I would like to say myself because of the brilliant energy that being a world-renowned chef brings to the Newfoundland locker room, I think Robert Black (grim) will win! He has the most Zerk of the Game awards on our team (eight), which is 3 more than the second-place player. I have two, but I plan on getting more. It is not even a surprise anymore when he scores. He is definitely a big reason why we had such a long winning streak! I'm sure we will be able to get the streak going again with his skills. Honestly, I am rooting for any Berzerker to get it, but Grim is most likely to win. We will be cheering him on from the locker room and on the ice!!
But I really want it to be me and I will be much happier if I can crush everyone else.
I mean, it's hard to dispute the lead Robert Black has on the rest of the competition considering points, but then again, it comes to the argument of "is MVP the best player, or the most valuable player to his team" in which case it's hard to argue that anyone on a team that's rolling the league heavily deserves the award. It could go to Black, if there wasn't another option that I would like to point out though. Mew Two from the Citadelles is currently 11th in the overall scoring, but they are very clearly head and shoulders the biggest contributor on the Quebec team, being 10 points ahead of the 2nd highest teammate of theirs. That is impressive, and really drives home the point that without Mew Two, Quebec might have been several spots lower in the standings compared to where they are now, which makes them the most valuable player in the league pretty easily in my eyes.

I actually think that there is a good case for Olof Karsikko as the candidate to win the most valueable player award this season. Even though he is playing in one of the top 3 teams in the league standings right now he is posting the fourth highest save percentage for starting goaltenders in the league. The big statistic that caught my eye was the really high amount of shutouts of which he currently has 8 which slots him at the very top in the league.
Another obvious candidate for the most valuable player in the SMJHL this season would be Gregory Goode the defender from the Anchorage Armada. Goode currently is tied for 4th in the scoring race as a defender which is quite the rare feat in the league. One could also consider him quite unlucky so far since his shooting percentage currently only sits at 5.8% but if it were closer to 10% he would actually have 9 more goals which would slot him as the player with the most points in the league currently.
Thank you all for the amazing sigs & player cards

As things stand right now, I do not even have an idea of who is in the running for Most Valuable Player. What defines the Most Valuable Player anyway? Is it scoring the most goals? How about blocking the most shots? Or perhaps, making the most saves? All three of these examples are certainly worthy of making someone the Most Valuable Player, but the problem is that no one player can do all of that. Because no one player is capable of being the best at every position on the ice is the exact reason we have so many different positions and types of players. You can’t expect a Goalie to win every face off, or a Center to make every save at the net, or even a Defense man to be a sharp shooter when it comes time to score. So with all that in mind, I ask you again, what makes someone the Most Valuable Player? I have no idea, so I’m just going to throw a name, Spicy MacHaggis, out there for MVP because why not? 179 Words
For my one hundred and fifty words I am going to take the time to explain why most valuable player is not a valid descriptor for the most valuable asset any one simulation major junior hockey team may have to try to make a decision on the team and if they are still on the top shelf for players that would be a great win. So with my pick for the most valuable Thing and I am going to be able to make the most valuable part of the season. The MVP for the 60th season of the SMJHL should be the ice itself. For over 60+ seasons the ice surface has been the brunt of all major collision. No one ever seems to ask the ice if it is ok after it has an incident with the home or away teams that are playing the game of hockey on that evening.

its always a difficult choice to name a single mvp especially in the game of hockey. a lot of the time you see the player with the most points, or the most goals, be awarded the honor but i feel like there are so many more aspects to look at. if you look at the SMJHL you could say oh… Robert Black, most points in the league (leading by 6), up there in +/-, solid mvp pick. but to me… you have to read the rest of the leaderboard. Black is great no doubt, but he is on the same team as 4 other players who are in the top 15 for points. its fair to say Black could be the product of a great team and to me thats not exactly mvp status. so i like to look mostly for outliers, which player is on a team that doesnt show up so much in the top 15, or 30 even. someone like Mew Two, 11th in points with one other teammate to crack top 30, might be more valuable to Quebec than Black is to Newfoundland. or even someone like Jimmy Larkin-Conway who is having a solid season on a really bad Nevada team. sitting at 29th in points, Jimmy is the only Battleborn you’ll see anywhere near the top 60 players in points.
