S67 SMJHL PT #6 - Playoff Dreams
#31

Since Detroit was unable to finish 1st in their division due to being in the same division as Regina, Detroit had to face Kelowna in the 1st Round (or preliminary due to reseeding, dunno exact terminology) before their matchup with either Nevada or Vancouver.  While Kelowna is obviously in the same tier of SMJHL team as shown by their 2nd worst goal differential of -81 or being tied 11th in points, Detroit couldn't look past them or else they would've been completely humiliated.  The Detroit Falcons first reviewed game tape of Kelowna and their standard philosophies.  Zone entry, forechecking, special teams, etc.  The team then determined how to best counter these core play styles. The Falcons would then practice said game plan to have the ability to both execute these tactics and recall which tactics would be necessary in certain situations.  Afterwards would be standard skating and/or conditioning drills to best prepare for playoff hockey.

It was a tough season for the Whalers this year, a fall from grace, and we barely made it into the playoffs. We will have to make sure that All of the team have put in the extra time at the rink to be ready for the challenge ahead. Our top players need to continue to show up day in and day out, but the rookies need to show why they have made the team and show they are ready for the next step.
Countless hours have been spent by the team to prepare and it is time to show everyone what we are actually made of and that the streak of poor games this year was nothing but a small blip. Our team has what it takes to be the champions at the end of the season, it is time that we put it all together and prove it to the rest of the league.

Newfoundland did not make the playoffs so my player has had a lot of time to reflect on the season coming to an end. My player did not want to reflect on the season too long due to the down year we had during a rebuilding season but year one was a great learning experience to understand what is needed moving forward to be a successful player and team. Now that we have some spare time my player is going to take a vacation and go on a cruise around the Caribbean to get away from hockey. Once the cruise is over and the vacation has been enjoyed my player will get back to preparing for the upcoming season. In the spare time my player will be working out to get bigger, faster, and stronger for the next season. Along with working out my player will be working on his hockey skills including puck handling and shooting to be able to take his game to the next level to make a significant jump in year two.

We didn't make the playoffs. We finished the season in last place this season. I think in part because I've not been putting in the effort that the team deserves. It's sad really. I just enjoy vibing and drinking. I don't really care about team success right now and I want to change that. But at the moment giving effort feels just so difficult. I don't know why. I just don't care. It's sad. Anyways I'm spending my free time playing beer bong and hanging out in bars and playing a lot of video games. It's maybe not leading to much satisfaction in life but at the very least I think I'm feeling okay. I just want to hang out with my friends and tell them how much I love them. That's all. Anyways looking to get back on the ice next year and get to work!

The Colorado Raptors have now made and then been eliminated from the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League Season Sixty Seven Playoffs for the Four star cup. To prepare for the game we had a rigorous mental and physical training regiment that prepared us for our matchup. A good mix of puck drills and speed exercises to keep our team ahead of the opposition and in control of the puck. In the end our hard work wasnt enough to satiate the hockey gods and we were defeated in the first round. Now with our free time the team is going to get some very well deserved time off with some casual team bonding vacations. There are rumblings that the team is going to be able to go see the blue man group. After that it will be back to the gym and the ice to prepare for the Sixty Eighth Season of the Simulation major junior hockey league.

Despite our regular season struggles, the Great Falls Grizzlies looked toward the playoffs with high hopes and even higher expectations. Throughout the course of the regular season, we found ourselves experimenting with various lines & giving younger players opportunity for ice time. Come playoffs, the focus shifted entirely. It was go time. In the weeks leading up, we began doing additional training and film review, lines were solidifed, and we befan to form a new identity as a team. Led by Bobby Mcginnis, amongst others, we continued to push forward and to build out our team tactics. We began to polish our game, whether it was shot blocking, dump and chase, cycling the puck, special teams - you name it, the Grizzlies were working it. This enabled us to approach the playoffs with our heads held high. We could walk in knowing we were the underdogs, but could rely on our strength and resilience built through rigorous training in preparation for the playoffs.
