In the Season 56 SMJHL Playoffs the Nevada Battleborn will make some noise but unfortunately fail to achieve the 4 Star Cup .It not quite OUR time...But come Season 57 I believe the Battleborn will be the odds on favorite and create a dynasty for years to come.

Here's my from-start-to-finish playoff predictions. While I would love to put New England as the ultimate champions, I tried to make this somewhat reasonable.
For starters. The following teams will win their divisions and get a bye-week: Hamilton Manhattan Calgary Texas In the first round we'll see Winnipeg take on Chicago. A tough task for any team. And I honestly wouldn't see Winnipeg do much. Maybe they would succeed in taking a game. But my gut says that they would in this case get swept. 4-0 Chicago Los Angeles would also see a terrifying opponent in Buffalo. Same thing here. Buffalo would pretty easily take home this series. 4-0 Buffalo But then we have two closer series in the first round. One of them is Atlanta vs Edmonton. The teams will have many if not all games only end up being 1-goal games. They're fairly equal but Edmonton does have the advantage. 4-2 Edmonton And finally it's New England vs New Orleans. Another tight series where the home-ice advantage will mean a lot. We might not see an as even series as ATL/EDM. And there'll more than likely be some high scoring games. But New England will put up a good enough fight. 4-3 New England On to round two. First up is New England vs Calgary. While New England is a good team. This is Calgary's all or nothing season. They've performed extremely well and I think they will keep doing so through the playoffs. While there will be some close games, Calgary will ultimately be too much for NEW. 4-1 Calgary Edmonton vs Hamilton. This is gonna be tough to predict. Hamilton is a force of a team, but Edmonton is not to be counted out. Here is where we see our first upset. Edmonton will take it home in a hard-fought series. 4-3 Edmonton Buffalo is then next to play Manhattan. Manhattan is really good, but they played in a much easier division than Buffalo this season. The bye-week might give them fresh legs. But Buffalo is simply too much for any Atlantic team. 4-2 Buffalo At the end of the second round we see Chicago and Texas. Texas is similar to Manhattan. They're really good in their own division. But only NOLA was really putting up a fight. The Great Lakes division keeps showing their prowess. 4-1 Chicago Now we're getting close! Semi-finals up next. We have Edmonton vs Calgary. Another tough, tough series similar to EDM/HAM. After many ups and downs it's hard to say who would come out on top. But for some reason I feel that Edmonton might still have it. Even after some misunderstandings in the offseason. 4-3 Edmonton Buffalo vs Chicago! Buffalo has been a top contender for a long time. But Chicago is not a team you can easily push to the side. Their season has surprised some of us, given the division they ended up in. But they are way stronger than last season showed. 4-2 Chicago Oh boy! The cup final is finally here! Edmonton vs Chicago! Will Edmonton be able to repeat their previous cup win? Or will Chicago put them in their place? Well, I'm all in on Chicago this season. Last season was a fluke. They're finally getting the puck luck they deserve. Chicago wins the cup in 6 games! I feel like for the SHL the Buffalo Stampede are going to make it through round one but fall in round two. I honestly believe we will see the Hamilton Steelhawks in the finals and win agains likely Edmonton? I feel like the West is a bit of a mess so who really knows? I think Hamilton is the team to beat going into the playoffs.

I think the most important thing about this season's playoffs will be Edmonton somehow coming from behind to defeat Hamilton in the new, re-seeded SHL finals when Barrett Blackwood scores the go-ahead with 3 minutes remaining.

I think that the finals matchup I would be most excited to see is a rematch of last season's championship game. Going all the way to game 7 is always exciting for a series.

When looking at QCCs potential first matchup, the most likely scenario is that we face Colorado. When analyzing the regular-season matchups between these teams we see that each team scored 12 goals, won a game by 2 goals, and won a game by 3 goals. This means that the matchup would basically be a coin flip, but my prediction is that whoever wins will end up winning their round 2 matchup in an upset.

With expansion comes strange and intriguing matchups. It’s looking like Hamilton and Calgary would be teams to beat since they are 1st in their conferences, but let’s play it out and see what each matchup might look like this season.
All division winners get a bye, so Hamilton and Manhattan are most likely going to be those teams in the East and Calgary and while Texas is behind right now, their remaining schedule is a piece of cake so I think they win the Southwest and get a bye as well. The rest of the playoff matchups are the 5th seed in the entire league vs the 12th seed, 6th seed vs 11th seed and so on. So likely Chicago will play Winnipeg, Edmonton will play Los Angeles, New England will play Buffalo, and New Orleans would play Atlanta. I really don’t see Winnipeg or New England doing anything vs the Great Lakes powerhouses, but after New Orleans shipped out Jimmy Slothface to Los Angeles, Atlanta may sneak by the Specters. While the Panthers did improve, I don’t think it will be enough to get by the Blizzard. So I think Chicago, Edmonton, and Buffalo all advance with ease and Atlanta squeaks by in a lengthy series. For the next round, that would put the Inferno up against the top seeded Steelhawks, the defending SHL champions Stampede vs the Dragons, the Blizzard against the Rage, and the Syndicate vs the Renegades. I expect Hamilton and Chicago to get through this round with ease and Edmonton and Buffalo to get by their opponents with much more difficulty. From here it’s tough to see where we go. Hamilton would play Buffalo in this scenario and Edmonton as the last team from the west would play Chicago. It really shouldn’t surprise anyone that 3 teams from the Great Lakes could make the semi-finals and it could really play out that Hamilton and Chicago play each other for the cup. I expect both series to be lengthy and that we will have the first ever division opponents facing each other for the Challenge Cup with the Hamilton Steelhawks winning it all once again. The most interesting thing is that Calgary in this scenario wouldn't even make it to the semi-finals because of seeding, but in any season other than this one, they probably plow right through the Western Conference just as they have done all season.

Vancouver made the decision to go all in this season. I fully expect them to make a long run in the playoffs. Anything short of making the four-star final would be a failure, and not winning it would be a disappointment.

I think Nevada will get a high seed and win the first round. With the acquisitions that we have gotten through the season we are mainly trying to figure out who players best with who. Once that is figured out, I believe that the Battleborn will go deep in the playoffs. I do believe that they will at least have their first playoff series win this post season

In just the second season of existence, Nevada are in the thick of the things for contention for the Four Star Cup. Sitting fourth in the division, there isn't much separating the teams so I really believe Nevada has a chance to get to the finals. As long as they can avoid a top seed from the East in the re-seedings or Vancouver, they have a good chance.

Nevada is ready to play, it does not matter that much who we play against in the first round or even in the second or third rounds, The Battleborn is here to win the ultimate prize and I believe we have what it takes to win it.

While many are hyping up the potential EAST only semis I think Calgary as a team is good enough to challenge them and looking at how playoff seeding works I think it is more than likely they play either another West team on second rounds leading to at least one team from west making semis. That said I'm not surprised if we see Chicago vs. Hamilton finals
