Buffalo too good tho gotta change cap to stop us I guess Stampede

Right, and that's fine. But being able to ice that roster should come at the cost of your prospects.

Congratulations on your cup, you guys deserve it. But this isn't about Buffalo specifically, and the fact that you're trying to make it about you is silly and unproductive.
Then why did you bring us up in detail :|

You're fabricating a problem that doesnt exist. Or at the very least, hasn't existed long enough to become visible yet. If the issue is as prevalent as you're making it out to be, forcing teams to spend 4m more per season isn't going to fix anything. Another expansion or something equally as drastic would have to take place.

I can't testify that the issue has existed since before S38 because I didn't join the league until then, but it's been around since then. I thought Winnipeg was an exception but there's been at least one team like this every season. Removing HTDs doesn't fix the problem outright, but it's a start.

Respectfully, I just don’t see that there is a problem there to be fixed. The league will always have a range of team strengths heading into any season. You’ve got teams in all stages of development at any given point in time. The teams at the top don’t necessarily stay there long and when they do, it’s almost always as a result of excellent drafting, good trades and, most importantly, a good team culture that people don’t want to leave. When teams have been bad for extended periods, another rarity, it’s usually as a result of poor decisions making and a bad team environment that doesn’t invite lengthy stays.

I just can’t see any of this as an issue that would need to be addressed, especially by more restrictive regulations and diminishing people’s personal agency.

I did the exact same thing with 3 other teams. If it were just Buffalo you could say I'm singling you out but that's just not how it is.

The problem isn’t with HTDs or even the salary cap. The problem comes from superstar elite players taking the absolute minimum in contract. If more players demanded more in their contract negotiations instead of taking the minimum tier then that solves the problem you think there is. But at the end of the day this league is about having fun with your friends and people will do wjat they can to stay where they like.

League already made some changes into the right direction but just like TDZ said the league would need a mentality change for the Cap to actively restrict teams.

My old contract was nice and the tip of the iceberg Old contract

Why is parity such a focus when it comes to American leagues? I don't get it. It's supposed to be sports not communism. There's no reason for the league to try to force teams to be more equal cause there's no crowds to please, or tickets to sell.

A good locker room and potent GM's can get a good dedicated group of people to stick with each other and take favorable deals to further the chances of the team and your friends. I'd personally never take anything above minimum cause I want to increase the chances of the team I love.

Because there's no point rooting for a team that never has a chance. Nba has that problem, and it's no fun because Golden State all but has it locked up. It's fun to watch GS, but over 25 other teams have virtually 0 chance to compete.

Exactly, and therein lies the issue. It's not that it's boring to watch Golden State, once your team is out in the NBA you can still watch the finals. How many people give a damn about SHL after they've been eliminated or are even halfway through the season and see a super team running away with the lead while they're sitting at a quarter of the points of that team?

With the randomness of STHS that's a bit alleviated but just go back to my Winnipeg example to see that long lasting super teams are viable in the league's current state.

Going back through this thread I see a lot of the bias that I pointed out would happen in the original post lol

A team featuring 8 players at or above 1500 TPE, 5 players between 1000 and 1500 TPE and 2 players between 800 and 1000 TPE should not be allowed to exist, that's just a stupid amount of talent. The team got broken up not because of the salary cap, but because of the expansion draft. Meanwhile we have a couple teams with 2 or 3 players around 1000 - 1200 TPE and at this point we actually have a team without a single player over 1000 TPE.

I literally said in the original post that the S45 EDM team should never have existed.
