What I particularly dislike about this relocation is that it wasn't mature/responsible but yet they didn't take it far enough for it to be "funny", not even for a 12 year old. Might as well get the Cuba Missile going.

Kinda. But it's a bit better than that.

Mexico City has a rough population of 8.5M ppl as opposed to Miami, which is hovering around let's call it 1M (if someone has a better number tell me, but the numbers only emphasize the greater point).

Even though this is a joke move (I think), "attendance" from the unnatural "fanbase" is more probable for attaining a NHL worthy attendance yearly. Residents of Mexico City only have to go see .06 of a game per season to get the Atzecs to break even on finances depending on attendance revenue. That's opposed to Miami, which at 1M ppl each resident has to go see .5 games per season, and that's a drastic jump, especially for the unnatural fan to the sport! This btw is all based on the fact that a SHL/NHL team needs 500K fans total per season to stay afloat.

It's more reasonable to assume that folks in Mexico City will wander to a game than Miami folks because there's simply more of them. It's not the best move, but it's a start.
