Yeah, if he just appeared back here sometime within the next week, didn't even update, I could see him going in the second round just because of how active he was. Probably the biggest SMJHL draft bust, honestly.

Agreed. There was no tapering off in activity either, he just up and disappeared.
He was still logging on for a while actually. His "last seen" would update but he wouldn't actually post anything.

If you look at the formula, though, it makes sense. Salabanzi does beat out Burke in many of those areas, even though he went inactive.
When it comes down to the difference between going from active to inactive and going inactive to active, the formula looks at them relatively similarly. Especially with how active Salabanzi was.

I know it's not perfect and I'd move some of these rankings around but I'm trying to take the extreme subjectivity out of it. So yeah, it has some issues with dealing with guys who were very active and then fell off the face of the Earth. If I were a GM, there's no way in hell I take Salabanzi over Burke. But the later picks are tough to deal with anyways. The top 30 are all currently active guys who actually project to contribute in the SHL in some capacity and I think where much of the ranking debates have been anyways.

I mean, I would presume that once you hit the third and forth rounds, you are sometimes typically going to have to take a risk on someone; there is a reason they fell in the first place.

It does become rounds where you take a guy on a chance he logs back in and you can convince him to stay, its happened before.
