"It was pretty disappointing, but I had this feeling for a while. I was definitely the odd-man out in Manhattan due to me wanting to test FA for a way to raise my overall monetary value. Neither of the two teams contacted me or made any attempt to make conversation regarding my situation. My GM gave them permission to talk to any of the exposed Rage players and those folk didn't look my way. I am clearly far more skilled than a lot of the available selections but they just skipped over me like nothing. God damn. See you can say it has a lot to do with the two player limit per team. Clint is the easy selection being a steady defenseman, despite being old, and is great to have around in the LR. Consumate professional an skilled player so I am not surprised. New Orleans is competing now so this is a no brainer. Cedric was the starting goaltender for a Rage team that missed the play offs by only 4 points, but he has shown no sign of taking the next step. He is likely to just be some stop gap for Chicago. We play separate positions but I am pretty sure he could have just traded for Moreau on the cheap or gotten some other lesser option to substitute. Skill wise it is definitely a shocker that these guys truly went that route, even with Vrana's abrupt announcement for retirement after the upcoming season.
Nah, this does not excuse the NOLA GM for not taking me. Was this some sort of 'bro handshake' that he would leave Moreau for Chicago but if not why? This mans took Soren Kierkegaard over me! Got me on some PTSD when the Blizzard drafted this guy over me despite me being the clear better player. He never reaches his high ceiling and I am still chugging along. It's clear I want a fat contract and maybe NOLA wants to lure in some talented free agents to make a run at the cup. It is tempting for a lot of guys to try and make history by winning in New Orlean's inaugural season. The other motive might be that they have no interest in adding me to their locker room. I didn't get contacted and they clearly didn't scout me for my on ice performance as I killed it for the Rage this past season. That also sucks if that is the case and I am frustrated by that. All I have done this season is put in WORK! Kept my head down and kept trudging forward. May not seem like I am humble but I even took a discount at 3M with Manhattan since I was not content with my development previously and gave them some wiggle room. At this point I am hoping not being selected IS due to a lack of due diligence rather than a conscience decision to not pick me. "

Free Agency
I do not have some high quality ranking to rule teams out but I will discuss each teams and what I feel about what my situation would be but also a guide as to what I might be seeking.
1) Money. I did over 6M in media obligations and earned 3M on my contract. Still 2M in the red. Owch. I am looking for a big pay day somewhere north of 8M. 'But what team will even have the cap space?" Lots of team do with expansion that added a whole lot of room to the entire league. It will be up to whether you want me on your roster or not. I have no malicious intent of 'Bwahahaha I am going to steal away all this team's cap space". This is purely to help me get out of debt and invest in my DEVELOPMENT! I haven't been able to get top tier equipment and would like the opportunity to do so this time around.
Please do not make an offer if it is not above 5M. Let us not waste each other's time, I would just go back to Manhattan if that is all you can offer. Thanks.
2) Role. I am less likely to care about this if I am being paid handsomely. Last season for Manhattan I played on the 2nd line, point on the PP and was the #1 extra forward on the PK. I would be fine with a similar role and aim to never score less than 30 points again. Thus, I do not ant to be buried. Also, I would like to play with at least a competent center. 500-600+ TPE.
Please do not offer for me if you plan to pay me less and in a lesser role where I will get no room to produce 30 or so points. Appreciated.
3) When PMing me pretty much keep it simple. Maybe enough information about what direction your organization is going and where I would fit. Talk about the role, line strategies, splits etc alongside the contract offer. I don't need to hear some Blake Griffin Clippers ish about how my jersey will be retired some day and that I will get a statue or something. I'm good bro, keep them statues to yourself.
Buffalo Stampede
They just won't likely have the cap space and role available for me. I like the team and branding but there is little to be done in that regard. No, I do not hate Mayuu. We have differing opinions on send downs but I can respect his decision since it is completely allowed within the rules. It's okay Tomen, I will still beat you in fantasy and destroy you in the SBA.
Calgary Dragons
There are rumblings that this team will rebrand their logo for a new feel which will be intriguing. However, they did just trade for Rainbow Dash and have some solid wings in the fold still. Will I be buried here? Likely. Esa is immortal, someone please slay him already. They may be able to scrounge up the money but we will see.
Edmonton Blizzard
The Cup Champs! They did me dirty with Kasparek that one time but it's cool. They lost a lot of forwards, but I may not be their main priority in Free Agency. They may have a role for me, they may not. They DO have the cap space so I am keen to see how they move. Just maybe they will meet my demands and allow me the opportunity to represent such a historic franchise. Shout out to Seth's Edmonton Comets.
Hamilton Steelhawks
They have been making moves in hat appears to be a re-tool. They have the 1st and 2nd overall picks in this upcoming draft and will hit home runs on both. They may laugh at the contract I want but they surely have room on their wings. Not a lot of cap room wiggle there but oh well, quite a shame.
LA Panthers
I would love to play in LA one day but I likely will get buried on this team that has a lot of solid talent overall. Not a tremendous amount of cap space here so getting the money I want will be a miracle even with the retirement of some of their guys. Good luck!
Manhattan Rage
Love the team and if they can put in a higher offer then there is a chance I will be back? It all depends on the situation but I appreciate the GM for believing in my abilities. He can bring the best out of me as a player and can put me in places to succeed. This team will be winning Championships soon with the way they are built.
Minnesota Chiefs
An aging core that may be looking to add some REJUVENATING young talent such as myself. Not sure if they have the space? Some dead contracts but I will have to see how it all shakes out in the off-season. I am not opposed to being apart of the Minnesota organization and helping them to a Championship and continue their post-season streak alive. When people believe they are down, the Chiefs are never out. There may be a little concern regarding role since they like to stack their top line. A lot. We shall see.
New England Wolfpack
Pretty young group and they have a lot of top fellow draftees like Herb Robert and Rafe Ulrich. They have space but can likely barely fit me if they chose to offer me the 8M+? Though they didn't pay Herb a lot so I find that quite unlikely. Wouldn't mind giving it a shot here though! Looks entertaining.
San Francisco Pride
They have had a rough patch of luck but maybe I can help turn it around? I already played on a line with Winters and he put up over 40 points, maybe I can work some magic with Luke. This team most definitely has the cap space, but I am not certain they will be doing too well in the standings. At least they can afford to play me and see how I work up close and personal. Give me a call boys.
Tampa Bay Barracuda
Not quite a fan of the relocation but that matters little. What is done is done and it is time to move on from that. I could realistically see me in a Barracuda and be one of the many players pushing this team forward. Not quite aware of what they will do position wise? Have heard rumblings of some of their players switching positions but I would want to play with Kazarian unless they pull in another quality center. He was hesitant to pay Herb and shipped him out so it may not be likely. At least give me a look, JSS.
Texas Renegades
Loved my time back in the days in Texas with Wadey and dpark but times sure have changed. They have Louie Garret, the player Cameron Carter II idolizes. This team has a lot of players to manage. Like seriously, they need to pay and handle their guys first. They may have room for me and this might be a relationship worth pursuing. Cameron's father also played a couple of games for this organization so there is that connection. Yeeehaw!
Toronto North Stars
Love this organization but they just don't have the room for me. They are getting up there in years though and could use a talent like Cameron at this point in time. Perhaps there is an option here? Lombardi may just hang 'em up soon or just stay around like that zombie Esa is. Try to sort things out with me if you folks want.
West Kendall Platoon
WKP wouldn't offer me a contract if they had no players on their roster. If I am wrong, hit me up, otherwise ...
Like I wouldn't mind playing in WKP right now, it's just that there is a rumor that people there aren't exactly fans of me. Going to assume they aren't the only ones. Weeee.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets shed a TREMENDOUS amount of cap space and I would love to come over and maybe get an opportunity to play with the living legend Jason Visser? Maybe, you know get some shifts with him. This may seem unexpected but at least think this over. They seem to be heading into some sort of rebuild or re-tool but they can still possibly make the playoffs with the new format. Would be historic to put on a Jets jersey.
New Orleans Specters
I did not get much love from these guys in the expansion draft but I would still play for them. However, they seem to be heading in a complete win now mode stocking up with high quality players in the draft. They will likely go after other bigger free agents rather than try to pursue me and then bury me on the 3rd line or something. Doubt they will have the space either. Oof. Soren Kierkegaard though?! Why.
Chicago Syndicate
They took the goalie over me, alright, but they are definitely leaning towards a younger grew and I will be able to get heavy minutes here. Mayhaps they do have the cap space for me and I could fit like a glove in this new expansion organization. Look into it Velvera, look into it.
Overall, there is a lot of space on teams and I may just find a home. There is a chance I get poor offers and that would suck, big oof. I haven't decided if I will try to hammer out a deal quick or try to hear teams out to try and get as much value as I can. There is a chance that a team just don't have the room after the draft or sent their money on other free agents so the market can dry up. Quick. great article but to be honest .... the GMs never must ask for permission of UFAs. They had from 8 pm EST friday on the permission to talk with all pending Free Agents. so that means if JayWhy hadnt give them the permission they still had the chance to talk with you.

yep but the Expansion GMs were be able to talk with all exposed FAs. He was exposed so they could talk with him. Now again they arent allowed to do that. It was just for the time between the 48 hours before the Expansion Draft start and yep the start of the Expansion Draft!

The day lists came out, we were discussing if they would be allowed or not. Last I was told was that day that they were not allowed to contact pending FAs without permission. I have full permission that day and didn't have to worry about it again anyway, so never checked if they changed that after the fact.
