For most of us S48 is over and now its time to sit down with your GM's for a season end review! talk to your GM's about what youve accomplished, what you are strong at, what you need to improve on and what would you like your role to be moving into S49. Hey @Keygan and @"tommysalami", with the season over I wanted to tell you about last season and what I plan to improve on. To start with, I generally think of myself as a more defensive two way player than an offensive one. Based on that I really want to improve my plus minus for the coming season. I know it's more of a team stat than an individual one, but there were definitely times when I could have worked a little harder or been in a better position to stop a goal against from happening. On the positive side of things I was able to produce quite a bit offensively, 7 goals and 29 assists. In the coming season I hope to reduce the number of penalties I take because I view myself as one of our top penalty killers and it really hurts our penalty kill when I'm in the box. I also plan on being a little more involved when it comes to assists rather than goals to keep myself in a good position for transitions to defense rather than making a risky play that may not result in a goal. All in all I plan on being the #1 defenseman that I felt like I should have been this season rather than the #3 defenseman I felt like I played as.

Jason Visser is one of the best players in SHL history, I'd take Dermot Lavelle and slide him to the wing along with his teammate Viktor Marius who is one of the most impactful forwards in the league righ now. On defense this is possibly one of the best defensive pairs in the entire league. Gary Grease is in the best form of his career, and Makela has just started regressing. Although Robinson isn't the best goalie in the league, he doesn't have to be. This would be the best 5 man unit in the league.

2. When it comes to defense I think you have two schools of thought on the top end defenders. Either offensive defenders or defensive two way defenders and we see that here. Gary Grease, Troy McClure III and Slip McScruff are all really defensively sound and lay big hits with Grease being able to add some offensive skill. Buffalo on the other hand has Connor Tanner, Tatu Makela and Charles Walker who are all really offensively minded. I think you have to give the nod to Winnipeg and the defensive guys. Let the forwards do the offensive stuff and protect your own goalie.

3. I think you can look to two members of the Winnipeg Jets as the reason that they've had their long term success. The first one being jason Visser @ToeDragon84 . Visser has been a top end player for the Jets since I've been on the site and is still a top line forward for them, the longevity is just incredible. The other member is @FlappyGiraffe who came into the management team when it seemed like things were going to start getting rough pretty soon. With his player Gary Grease being an absolute all star along with some great management skills he's retooled the team on the fly and made them into a contender again.

5. When it comes to the Cedrics it's obvious which one has the most SHL experience. Moreau has been around a fair bit longer than Robinson. On the other hand Robinson is just a more talented goaltender in my opinion and already has one challenge cup to his name. Despite Moreau being more seasoned and having a stronger defensive minded defensive group in front of him, I think you have to give the nod to Cedric Robinson.

Task 1: (3tpe)


I’m going to have to go with building a franchise around Noah Gallagher. He’s a super promising young winger, and has quickly adjusted to the game at the SHL level. The upside of a player like this is insane and his development is set off to a great start. He has the mentors in place in order to take himself to the next level and is a hard working player who is often the last player on the ice. He has a set of skills that are already so deep and he looks to keep developing those as he clearly seems to intend to compete for the scoring title in years to say. He is someone that as he gets more experienced I expect him to be logging big minutes on the penalty kill, powerplay and your normal 5 on 5 even strength because he’s just a player that can do it all. Task 3: (3tpe)

I’ve been ready to sit down with the boys @tweedledunn and @Grapehead through the season. It was a successful season, and I felt confident going in knowing that I had locked up a contract with the team I love for the coming few seasons.

I feel like this season was a very strong one for me as I developed my goal scoring ability and though I was unable to be at the top of the goals scored list for the league, I was in the conversation for a good chunk of the season. It was a great season for the development of my offensive skills, and I really have to thank the guys for putting me in a position to succeed with a great set of linemates.

Going into s49, I want to improve my playmaking a little and make myself a more rounded player in that sense to help the Pride pot as many goals as possible. I’m hoping to continue my role as a top line forward, though there’s always some young promising talent that could come in and make some big moves. All in all, I’m very satisfied with the season and am ready to move onto the next and try and make a deeper playoff push with the boys (213 words)

I expect the group of Troy McClure III, Gary Grease, and Slip McScruff to really show what they’ve got in this series. We’ve got a long time veteran, and some All-Star hopefuls in this group, and as a set, they can really do everything needed to take over a series and bring home the cup. They have experience Winnings cups and will stop at nothing to bring that cup back to Winnipeg. Expect them to play a little greasy, but showcase a lot of skill as well. They’ve shown that to this point in the playoffs and I don’t expect them to stop here(104 words)

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series. (*tag anyone involved)

The Jets are a fantastic team who most assumed they’d be done for when they ran into the New Orleans Spectres in the Western Conference finals but they came in and showed them that they’re not going to just roll over to the favoured team. They had great goaltending out of Cedric Moreau @treant and that is just plain and simple something you need to have success in the SHL playoffs. Their defense has player huge with the combination of McClure, Grease, and McScruff putting up some impressive point totals while limited dangerous opportunities.

4. Buffalo has made it to the finals in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Who or what has been a primary reason for the recent success of this franchise. (*tag anyone involved)

I think that you gotta give a ton of props to @Tomen and our resident thunderdome superstar @WannabeFinn. They’ve managed to built a great team that’s strong front to back by drafting very well and making some good deals. They made a big deal to net themselves a number of picks, so you can expect that this trend should continue over the coming years as we see a new crop of youngsters coming in to make their mark in the SHL

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

Cedric Moreau has been crazy so far these playoffs. Posting two shutouts and a .937 save percentage I think he is running into this series cool calm and composed. While we certainly can’t count out the regular season performance of Robinson, Moreau just seems to be firing on all cylinders and I expect him to continue this dominance and be lifting the cup over his head for his efforts.

Script

A long hard season has almost come to an end, and while both teams are battered and bruised by this point, there is still some amazing hockey left to be played. These teams will be selling out their bodies and playing through injuries unbearable to the normal human being. When all is said and done, one team will be lifting that cup above their head, having it feel lighter than air as they finally reach a moment they’ve dreamed about since they were children.

The Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Stampede are about to get physical, fast, and into it with each other as they vie for the hardest trophy to win. Keep an eye on all-star keepers like Moreau and Robinson as they intend to duel each other and keep that puck out of the net.
Watch out folks, it’s going to be a wild series and is definitely going to be many games of unmissable hockey that will be keeping you on the edge of your seat.

Both teams in our challenge cup series come in with a healthy set of talented young players. if you were to choose a player from either teams SHL roster or there prospect pool with a (start date of S45, S46, S47 or S48) to build your team around, who would it be and why? What qualities on or off the ice make them 'that guy' and how do you think they would shape the image of their franchise? (150+ words and *tag any player involved in this task)

I have seen a few write about players including the one I will write about now but that is fine, I am okay with that cause I am going to talk about the one and only Noah Gallagher @[fever95] as the guy I would build a team around. A recent S47 draftee, he is a guy/user that has created extremely successful players in the past and will do so again with Noah. When I was the co-GM at New England, this guy was probably the top target on my list of draftees but I am glad he found a place like Winnipeg and has had a lot of success there. I had great scouting conversations with him and couldn't be happier to have him succeed even on a different team. I think he brings value on and off the ice because his player is already pretty good and will keep getting better and the user is great also and an SHL vet. I think I would go young and full of potential if I was starting a team so Noah Gallaher is the guy I would choose to start it off because he is just that.

@[Ace] and @[hotdog] listen, I am the future of goaltending in the SHL. I know you want to go goalie with your next player Ace, but Leitner is going to last a long long time and outlive Bitties which will have you with a big decision. Leitner's number one goal is to be the all-time wins leader in Wolfpack history and my recent extension I have agreed to will lead up to a lifetime contract which is something I am looking for, let's make it happen. Cancel your goalie plans Ace, Leitner is New England! I have maxed a ton of my abilities and now am working on the other ones that to my knowledge have a bit of a lesser effect and as long as we keep a defense intact, Johannes can be really good. 96th in the top SHL 100, usually up in the rankings in save percentage, gotta love it right? With less shots against, Leitner will win a few awards for Goaltender of the Year but consistently is in the top 3 or 4 in shots against or shots against per game, it is sad. With an improving Pack, we have a shot to do big things!

This team I think would be pretty elite except both Garrett and Manius have been playing as right-wingers mainly and with Visser as the center, it should allow for flexibility of the wingers and you have Tanner and Metzler both which Tanner is your more offensive d-man and McClure your defensive guy, I think. Moreau and Robinson were close but Moreau has the better save percentage and goals-against average so I wouldn't feel bad with either but I feel like Moreau is the guy that would be more reliable.

2. This series boasts an interesting matchup at the blue line between star-studded defenders! Which includes Troy McClure III, Gary Grease and Slip McScruff from Winnipeg.. & Buffalo's Tatu Makela, Connor Tanner and Charles Walker.. which group do you expect will outshine the other and why?

When looking through a lot of the statistics, I think Buffalo's defenders are a bit more flashy and I think based off the eye test that Buffalo will win this matchup. I think they boast a more experienced like and I believe the experience will come in handy for a championship. I don't know if the difference will be much here because both sides boast terrific defenses but I will take Buffalo here based off an eye test and the eye test alone.

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series. (*tag anyone involved)

I don't think you can count any team out of it because in the playoffs, literally, anything can happen. When you have talent like Winnipeg has, which was outlined in the question above at least with defense and having a goalie like Moreau as well they are just tough to score on. Defense wins championships and goalie performances are huge when it comes to the playoffs and with Moreau having some great performances, they have been able to lean on their defense and goalie for a great run.

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffalo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

I don't know. I think regular season shows that Moreau was just a bit better albeit in limited performances as he played just 35 games and Robinson played 44. Robinson performed very well in the minutes he had but Moreau flirted with a 92% save percentage which was great. I think both teams rely on their defenses to limit shots and good shot attempts so the goalies have it a bit easy. Given the fact that Moreau performed tremendously in the regular season, I will give him the edge but I do think Buffalo's defense could change that.

This was a tough one as each of these teams has a young player that I think are going to be the franchise players teams build around for more than a decade. In the end I decided that the Winnipeg Jets top piece Michael Scarn is just below the keystone player the Buffalo Stampede have in Alexander Selich. The biggest reason for me was I just never knew if Michael Scarn was going to stick with hockey since he is fighting Golden Face and fielding calls from the President. Alexander Selich is a guy who is committed to the game and his team and that means a lot for a franchise trying to build around a player. Alexander Selich is a legacy player in Buffalo and has had other generations of Selichs on the same roster. Furthermore, nothing can keep him out of the sport. There are a rumors that a vehicle based assassination attempt was undertaken by opposing fans that nearly ended Alexander Selich’s career. However, his personal fortitude and passion for the game kept him coming back for more. He appears to be of good character and pleasant to be around as well. Alexander Selich is the full package when it comes to young prospects teams want on their roster.

Tor Tuck had a pretty rough start to the season but he picked it up a bit in the end. While he has never been known as a goal scorer he was last on the team form much of the season with just two goals. Fortunately, he picked up the pace and was able to rack up quite a few assists as the season went on. This was particularly impressive considering Tor Tuck is leaving his prime and generally players of his age struggle more as the season goes, not the reverse. Tor Tuck is still a strong defender that can make plays for the shooters on the roster as few as they may be these days. Tor is satisfied with any role that helps Edmonton get back into the playoffs and winning games even if it eventually puts him on the 3rd line of defenders. Time expects to take its toll on Tor Tuck this off season where his endurance and skill in the penalty shots are expected to take another hit. Fortunately, he’s going to get that money from the team to get the best trainers around.

I am taking this as meaning the team most likely to win the finals, not score the most fantasy points.

Here is my line-up:
I am going defense first because defense is obviously the most important. My guy here is an easy choice taking Gary Grease. My other defender is definitely going to be a guy who’s a bit long in the tooth but a legend nonetheless with Alexis Metzler. Offensively my young player is going to be Ola Wagstrom as he is a top tier player for his age and won’t harm the team being on the front lines. My other two forwards would definitely be Louie Garrett because he’s a saint and a skilled winger and Jason Visser at center another old school player that still has it. I’m going to grab a back-up for forwards and defenders too. On offense I’m taking Viktor Marius a player in their prime. On defense I think I’ve got to go with Tatu Makela because they’re also quite skilled. Goalies have a lot to be desired here and even though he was outplayed in the finals I think Cedric Robinson is more skilled overall so I’m taking him here.

This is a tough one, Charles Walker is a legend and Tatu Makela is a hell of a player but for me the choice is easy. Gary Grease is the man. I would take Gary Grease as my only defender over a lot of duos in the league. His skill on the ice and attitude off of it are enough to inspire the offense to put up a million points and the goalie to block every shot. He would probably just sit there smoking a cigar and looking cool while his team won the ship.

The Winnipeg Jets must have made a deal with the devil because every season people count them out and they just keep winning. I think a lot can be said about their general mangers but the real secret is something I have already let out of the bag. GARY “F***ING” GREASE IS THE MAN. If you get Gary on your team his coolness is going to get you at least 50 wins a season. Take that to the bank.

Wow another easy question. Cedric Moreau has the advantage here not because he is the better goalie, in a vacuum I am taking Robinson everytime. However, in this match-up Moreau has the man, the myth, the legend. GARY “F***ING” GREASE in front of him. I would imagine it’s a combination of Gary stopping every puck before it gets close and having the opportunity of seeing a god play on the ice in front of him would really help Moreau out here.

Since it seems all of the playoff indexes that are before my time are dead I am going to take a different approach on this one a bit and do a more recent series.
In season 45 the Edmonton Blizzard played the West Kendall Platoon in a seven game series for the challenge cup.

The game was a big one for Edmonton as it was the fruition of a lot of hope that team had had for several season after a long stretch of terrible play and non-playoff bound seasons. In the final game 7 there was controversy after an Edmonton fan took out hundreds of minutes of advertisement time showing nothing but clips of real life Blizzards. Some of the top players in this match-up were SHL legends like Ludwig Koch Schroder, Joe Kurczewski, Oisin Fletch, and Roman Augustus. It was a hard fought series but in the end Edmonton won out before the league expanded and many of the stars on that championship team split up and went their own ways.

CW TASK 1: (Written, 3 TPE)
Both teams in our challenge cup series come in with a healthy set of talented young players. if you were to choose a player from either teams SHL roster or there prospect pool with a (start date of S45, S46, S47 or S48) to build your team around, who would it be and why? What qualities on or off the ice make them 'that guy' and how do you think they would shape the image of their franchise? (150+ words and *tag any player involved in this task)

To reach a championship in any sport it takes a strong group of players with a close bond to be able to conquer the hardships and doubt that a long season can throw at them. Often times there is one strong voice from a core leader and the one that stands out most for me is Buffalo Stampedes Viktor Marius @karey. Marius is the type of player any team would kill to have on their team, he is a threat everywhere on the ice, he can kill you with his elite level of shooting but has the defensive ability to frustrate and shut down the leagues best talents. Boasting a trophy case full of awards it's clear to see the impact Marius brings to the ice, I've had the pleasure of getting to know him off the ice and Marius is truly one of the most positive people in the league. A friendly presence off the ice and a dominant one on the ice Viktor Marius might just be the key for Buffalo to win another championship. (177 words)

For those in the SMJHL, your job is to fine tune your game to be ready for a call up to the SHL. Part of that fine tuning is having to decide what kind of player you want to be. That can be a tough decision to make as it impacts your entire career! What made you decide on the position you picked? why did you choose your specific player template and talk to us about the type of player in the SHL that you would like your game to resemble. (must be 150+ words)

Every young hockey player has grown up watching elite talent come and go in the SHL, from forwards that score the flashy highlight reel goals, defensemen who are able to shut down those flashy shooters and goalies who seem to be spinning on their head every night, everyone has someone they want to be just like. Miikka Salo a prospect of the Tampa Bay Barracuda has just wrapped up another season in Detroit and is getting closer to the player he strives to be in the big leagues. Salo has modeled his game after Tatu Makela. Tatu has boasted strong numbers for someone who plays on the blue line and as expected he has proven his worth as a shutdown defender who can lead off and on the ice. Salo has tried to model his game after his fellow countryman and awaits the day he can finally play against him. (150 words)

In S43 it was stamps, in S45 it was coins... and here in S48 the leagues looking to sell Challenge Cup Commemorative Plates! The SHL Marketing department is asking you to design a Commemorative plate honouring the leagues most important series. Plate must include both team logos on it, the league logo, the season number and at least 2 head shots of players/GM's in the series with there names underneath them.

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

Goaltending is one of the biggest keys in winning a championship, all it takes is for a goalie to get hot at the right time and you can ride that through a whole tournament. While both goalies in this series are fantastic Robinson of the Stampede is the real difference maker to me. Robinson has been one of the leagues top goalies since he broke into the league a few seasons ago. He has been a coveted prospect of Buffalo since his days in Detroit and now he's brought Buffalo to yet another championship. Facing a tough elimination game against Tampa, he has shown that he can keep his nerve when the pressure is on and that will be the difference maker. (122 words)

Tampa hit new strides this past season. For starters, we went from the worst team in the league in S47 to winning the presidents trophy this past season and taking the challenge cup champions to game 7 in round 2 and being the only team to do so. We had a lot of great seasons from Kristaps Ball, Alex Andani, Benjamin Blue and more who all had career high seasons. Now towards the next season, we need to focus on maintaining what we had this past season. We need to look towards getting in the playoffs and making sure this last season wasn't a one and done deal. We have a lot of more rookies coming so it's an exciting time to be involved in the Barracuda organization. As the chapter closes on the season Miikka Salo gets ready to start another season for Detroit, while focused on the season he long waits for when he finally gets called up to play for Tampa Bay (165 words) @JSS

I think I had a pretty solid season this year. I know my production was outshone by Muller, Kandinsky, and Fleming, but the rest of the league feels that way too. At least I'm not alone right. Anyways, I'm sure I could probably play better on the defensive end of the ice. I only blocked two shots this season and seemed to be hit as many times as I threw hits, which could always be improved. I also know that although I totaled out at 41 points, there is something about my scoring that could be improved and that is my shooting percentage. For most of the season it was down in the single digits. If I could have kept that up all season long, I probably would have scored more than 13 goals. As far as my role goes, I'm happy on the second line, but I also know that Flem is done on the team and that there might be a spot opening up on the top line. Just sayin'. (172 words) @Nictox @TML99

I wanted to be a winger because I had a very specific idea about what kind of offensive player I wanted to be. I didn't want to have to worry about allocating TPE into faceoffs, and therefore I didn't chose to be a center. I knew that I wanted to be the go-to scoring option for whatever team I ended up on, and so I decided on the sniper archetype.I figured that it would make me a bit of a defensive liability, but I was hoping that I would have teammates to make up for that. I really wanted to be the guy that has the puck on his stick at the end of the game when you need that game tying or game winning goal. I think the current SHL player that I'd really like to emulate would be Flacko Lagerfield. He's just a pure points scorer, out there netting goals and piling up the assists. He's like a one man wrecking crew, and I'd love to one day be counted on by my team like he is by his. (183 words)

If I were to choose a young player on either the Stampede or the Jets to build a team around, it'd be Season 45 Buffalo draftee Alexander Selich. Selich has already started to put up impressive numbers in the league - he's not yet a superstar, but over 20 points in his second season is nothing to scoff at and in his third season in the SHL he's up to almost 30 points. He's been showing quick progression on the ice - his training is clearly paying off as he becomes more of a good all around player over time. And with young players, sometimes dedication can be an issue, but Selich's agent seems to believe his young player will continue to improve and reach great heights in this league, and there's no reason to doubt him. Of all the young players on the championship teams, he's the safest bet to become a star and have a long, successful career, and therefore a very solid building block for a franchise.


CW TASK 3: (161 words)
Looking ahead to Season 49, Isak Odegard is definitely starting to feel the stress of being an older player in the league, but physically and mentally. But his offseason training plans are in place, and he's confident he can continue on for at least the next season without letting his age show in his game. Isak has won one Challenge Cup, but not with the Pride, and he'd really like to help the team that he's come to call home in the second half of his career reach that pinacle for the first time since relocaiton. Isak is one of the team's leaders in ice time and knows he contributes to the team, but it's a little frustrating that he's never reached the heights he thinks he's capable of - he's willing to lose out on individual awards for the sake of the team, but he does wonder how much more he could accomplish if he found the perfect chemistry out there. Alright let's get those engines fucking started as we sit here in the anticipation for the deathmatch of the century here on the SHL network. The battle of two titans is about to start and its YOUR BUFFALO STAMPEDE, VERSUS, THE WINNIPEEGGG JEETTTSSS. That's right folks coming at you in a blaze of glory we got the depth of depths coming from the stampede locked in a heated battle of the old and bold jets. Soon the action is gonna be heating up in center stage and YOURE NOT GONNA WANNA MISS ONE SECOND OF THIS. Will Buffalo go down in a blaze of glory while simon bends them over and fucks them raw. Or will the jets get yeeted into the sun? Don't you dare change that channel as your host LUFFY lights the night with his amazing commentary. Wait why is he commentating? So obviously I'll be playing this on my podcast. Sure I only have one episode right now but the bank account is running low and I need another way to make money. For me this is the last year (finally) of juniors. It's been a long road and a lot of struggles to get to where I am. Finally breaching the playoff surface was a breath of fresh air and Luffy likes what he tastes. Losing in game 7 was obviously really heartbreaking but what can you do? I'm ready for my rookie season and I'll still be modeling my game after ryan nugent hopkins. However, It has become clear to me that Viktor Marius is who I need to look up to. He just crushed the playoff points record and there is no better C in the game than him. I'm lucky to be on the same team as him so learning from the best is going to be easy. Sure my time will come to surpass and take up the buffalo mantle from him and passamas. Right now I think i'll be playing on the wing on the 2nd line right behind marius. The buffalo first line looks like what dreams are made up and playing right behind them I will learn a lot. It's exciting times for sure and be ready for this rookie season breakout!

2. Clearly the edge goes to buffalo here. There is no better roster in the entire SHL than buffalo so when comparing sticks to stones it's easy to see who out paces who. Sure walker is almsot in a walker and he's pretty old but the vets on this team are stunning and they let the offensive talent shine bright. Darrow isn't even mentioned here and he's the stud of studs.

3. Let's be real here. There is a lot of qualities that go into making the finals. A team needs depth, it needs consistency, but most importantly it needs a lot of luck. So that's exactly how the winnipeg jets got into the finals. Luck. Time will show the cracks in the jets armor once the luck fades, and buffalo is exactly the team to break through.

4. Obviously the GMs know how to oil up the lube on this fine tuned machine. They are cutthroat and accurate with the needs of the whole. When things need to change, they change it. There is so much depth on this team its ridiculous and thats the name of the game in the SHL rn. you can't be a one line time anymore you need that depth to make it all the way and buffalo has that.

5. Like I said before and I'll say it again. Buffalos goalie cedric robinson is by far the best goalie in the league and comparing the two is futile. Sure robinson plays either red hot or icy cold, but when the chips are down and buffalo needs its best player, he'll be there to answer the call. You can talk about all the talent on buffalo but the quiet star is robinson and obviously he is the best goalie out of the series.

With @Tomen as his #2, who is a beast in his own right, Buffalo benefits from strong, knowedlgeable leadership. Buffalo is not only reactive to deficiencies and needs, they have been able to set themselves up for long term success.

For the most part it was a pretty productive season, finishing in the top 35 in scoring, not bad for a player not in the top 100 going into season 49. My player is designed after the dragons front line center, Mike Izzy, so playing a good 2 way game is imperative to the success of my player. Playing most of the season without a bonafied checker, helped my hit totals get up over 100. One of my main goals as a player. My plus or minus rating was a plus 4 so my line was not a liability on the ice, a key stat that I think goes undervalued. Getting more time on the Power Play this season, led to more Specialty Points, would have been nice if that could have happened in the post season when we went 0-17 in the 2nd round. The one area of focus that I need to improve, and since I am doing the team a favor, playing out of position as a center, is to get my faceoff percentage up. I made a change right before the second round of the playoffs and was hovering around the 50% mark, up from 47% during the season. Got to control the puck more to have a better shot at putting it in the back of the net.

Viktor Marius - F- Dude goes out and completely dominates the playoffs. 32 points in 22 games. no wonder the Stampede won the damn thing.
Louie Garrett -F- 18.75% shooting percentage in the playoffs. Dude knows how to get it done on the biggest stage.
Alex Selich - F - Young Player rule here, best of the bunch on both teams, a real up and comer. 16 points in 22 games.
Alexis Metzler -D- dominates the game from the blue line. So important to a teams success.
Gary Grease - D - I would have selected Lil manius, but Gary Grease will have to do. Shut down D That is on the ice in all situations.
Cedric Robinson - G - 4 post season shutouts! Holy crap my team didnt have 4 shutouts all season.

Buffalo's Defensive group is very impressive, usually you have a drop off when you put another line out there on the ice, with Buffalo, that doesnt happen. They all play alot of minutes, and can all score and defend. Their backline is why they are the champions of the league, and oh by the way you forgot Alex Metzler's name. Huge playoffs and a giant reason they are the champs.

Lil Manius had such an amazing regular season, going into the playoffs, if you told me that Winnipeg had made it to the finals, then I would without a doubt think it was because Lil Manius continued his amazing success in the regular season. 5th in points with 54, 25 goals, 164 hits. Just an amazing season from my Junior teammate. Congrats on the awesome season.

Without a doubt, Cedric has the advantage -- Robinson that is. With the defence that he gets to play behind, it is not hard to see why they are having so much success this season. A competent netminder would do well. Good thing is, Robinson isn't just competent, he is an emerging superstar, which is nice to see from such a young netminder. Alot of times, we don't get to see the young goalies get into the action because they are blocked by some old balls goalie.

as a member of this site with 5 SHL cup wins, it would be easy for me go back a reminisce about one of the victories that the Calgary Dragons posted. That is something that I'm not going to do. Picture it, LA Panthers Hamilton Steelhawks season 24. One of the most entertaining series in the history of the SHL, that nobody really every talks or remembers. Now since the indexes are broken, I cannot go back and verify the accuracy of what I am about to write, but for the most part it is the truth. If you look on paper, this series was completely dominated by the LA Panthers. The only thing is, they didn't win the series that ended up going 7 games. Hamilton Steelhawks defied every metric possible to steal the SHL cup from the Panthers. LA out scored Hamilton in the series by 15 goals. I am not even bull shitting you, 15 fucking goals. Another thing I am not bullshitting you about. The LA Panthers never trailed the series in regulation. Well this one might be bullshit, but what isn't is that all four games that the Panthers lost, were in Overtime. Game 1, 4,6,7 all overtime wins for Hamilton. I dare any of you with the ability to sim games, come up with the same outcome. 7 Games - 4 OT wins by the same team. Then drubbed in the other 3 games. Unfortunately with that tremendously horrible luck, the Panthers have never been the same. It's unfortunate because that was an amazing team, that could have been on the cusp of building something great. #LAPDANCE

Bobby Sharp, a rookie in this current series, has 10 points in 22 games, a fair feat if I do say so myself. He scored 2 goals, with 8 assists, with an impressive plus minus of 10, meaning he did not let up a single goal on the ice. He also had 29 hits, showing everyone that he is not afraid to throw the body. Now, the reason why I, Benjamin Blue, believe that Bobby Sharp can be the player to build around, is because he currently has a promising start as a rookie, showing promise for his potential in the future, he has a "Sharp" name, , and, he is a left wing, the 3rd best position behind goalie, and right wing. This, in conclusion, in total, certainly, is why I believe that the player, Bobby Sharp, of the Buffalo Stampede, is the perfect rookie left winger to build a team around.

@JSS This season I finally managed to not carry the team by myself, we had an exploding offense, the top 2 rookies, and the top defense man in the league! Something i would definitely like to improve is my Goals Against Average, as well as my save percentage, as always, just like every goalie strives to do. Some things i believe that i am strong at is staying consistent throughout the season, and also, maintaining a solid save percentage throughout the season. I really believe this team can truly be a solid, amazing cup contender in the next upcoming few seasons. This team can really push to win the entire thing, and bring the cup back home to Tampa Bay for the first time. With season forty eight in the rear view mirror, Jack Kennedy feels it is time to sit down with the Chicago Syndicate's General Manager, @Severin, to carry out an exit interview of sorts. Jack Kennedy feels he taken another step forward this year. He put up better numbers than last season, with less overall time on ice (due to Chicago increases their overall depth). Kennedy knows his scoring is elite, followed closely by his puck handling. What is often overlooked however is just how strong he is in his own zone and defensively in all three zones. Kennedy was also happy with quarterbacking the power play unit, and as a result he saw his passing increase and in turn his assists number was higher. Looking forward to next season, Kennedy feels he has earned a larger role on the team, potentially even finding himself on the the top scoring line (depending on the regression hit the legend Luke Atmey takes). With increased ice time and increased ability (in the form of off season TPE), it is expected that Jack Kennedy will have another career year in the stats department.

Jack Kennedy has always loved to score on and off the ice. Since his days as a tyke hockey player, he has always been a forward, spending his time among all three postions: Centre, Left wing, and Right Wing. Because he was so much bigger, stronger, and faster than his peers, he often found himself playing down the middle in his travel years. However, as he moved to the junior leagues at age fifteeen and thus had to compete with men who were now bigger and stronger than him he moved to the wing because he struggled to win face offs. As his junior career developed, he cemented himself on his off wing (the left side), so that he could terrorize opposing goaltenders with his cannon of a one time shot. Scoring buckets of goals from the Ovechkin slot, he models more than just his scoring after the hard hitting fast skating Russian.

The season forty one Simulation Hockey League Championships were certainly one for the ages. The conference Semi Finals saw the Calgary Dragons lose to the Winnipeg Jets. The Panthers also fell to the Blizzards on their side of the conference. Meanwhile on the other side, The Hamilton Steel hawks beat down the Chiefs and The Platoon took out the Stampede. The conference finals saw highly contested action featuring the Panthers giving up home ice to the Jets of Winnipeg while the Steelhawks flew in to do battle versus the squad from West Kendall. In the end out of the four remaining teams, only two were left standing. The finals would turn out to be an all sunshine finals. Disney World pitted up against Disney Land, as the LA Panthers hosted the West Kendall Platoon for the first two games of the Finals series before flying east to Florida. Home ice would prove to be advantage not enough, as the Platoon ultimately prevailed as champions.

From my point of view, I feel the trio of Grease, MCscrff, and Mcclure will have prove to display their superior set of skills, primarily in the defensive end. Their team speed, size, and grit should prove too overwhelming for the Buffalo Stampede. Buffalo will put up a fight I am sure, but they won't be able to permanently keep up.

More than anything it has been the Winnipeg Jets ability to win more games, in each series, than their opponents. For instance, in each of the prior series, Winnipeg has reached four wins in the series before the other team could. They may have lost some games, but no more than three per individual series. This has been key.

The two have a combined sixty two points throughout the playoffs and are plus twenty four in their plus / minus category. The other contributing asset is the goal tender, Cedric Robinson, who has been a brick wall, going 16-4 and putting up four shut outs

I think a player like Nick Brain has the ability to really grow into his position given a few more seasons of growth and make a huge impact for the surging Winnipeg Jets. Playing a solid 1st line position at a young age, Brain has the ability to keep up with opposing players and show them that despite his age, he's here to play too. His speed and strength allows him to take the body easily, and his well rounded shoot and/or pass build allows him to make snap decisions in the offensive zone. This hybrid mindset confuses opposing defenders and goaltenders, not allowing them to read his next move, opening shooting or passing lanes more easily for him and his teammates to capitalize on. This simple, yet effective, play style will carry him into bigger and better things with his team, eventually leading the team to a cup win in the very near future.

I won't actually tag my GM because he does do exit interviews but that's a different story. I've really come far with the Rage in jut a few seasons I believe. From a nobody who fizzled out with his first player, you took a chance on me in the second round when I fell to you and I'll always be grateful for that. I won 2 individual awards so far, including the Jesster thanks to you. You've allowed me to build and grow the way I wanted to and supported my efforts and contract talks, the first real set of renewal talks I've ever had. You had faith that I could play on the 1st line in season 48 and I did what I could to play up to your expectation. Maybe it didn't work out the greatest all the time, but that didn't stop me from trying and you from supporting me. I hope to always play up and above your expectations, and to have the support you always give me!

2. It seems to me looking at the match up that McClure, McScruff, and Grease have a better set of skills going into the defensive battle. They have a more physical presence and can transition to either side of the puck faster and easier than the Buffalo defenders will be able to.

3. They have a mixture of veteran, and upcoming players. One standout for me is Ola Wagstrom. A max TPE earner and friend of mine who has made a big name for himself in the league and expecially on Winnipeg, proving that them, and he, can go places with this team given the chance to shine! @StamkosFan

4. Tampering. No I'm kidding. In all serious though, despite the aura of pompousness from some of the players on the team, they can provide many players looking for a championship now the opportunity to sign in FA, allowing them to keep their roster strong and keeping a sense of being a contender going from season to season.

5. Cedric Moreau has an edge in this battle. a former ROTY runner-up, he's performed at a high level at a consistent basis and will not let the pressure of a big game get into his head. He's got nerves of steel and a quick glove hand. This man is a future hall of famer in my opinion and I hope he shines for seasons to come. @grok

Obviously I'll be picking the Old Man Jokes Podcast with myself and JayWhy. We may not be the best podcast on the market but I believe we have a good back and forth discussion on any topic and really look at different angles of everything. As for the series, Buffalo versus Winnipeg:

I Think BUF's will outshine WPGS by a fair margin. The only player on the Jets that's really solid is Gary Grease, the other guys aren't the studliest of dmen in my opinion. Makela and Tanner have been studs for a long time, and Walker is a solid piece as well. BUF easily gets this one.

I think they had a lot of luck on their side. All season long they overperformed, and it seems like it carried into the postseason. I was completely shocked they made it that far with that roster, but I have to give a lot of credit to the GMs or whoever was setting those lines. Because whatever tricks they did, it worked well.

4. Buffalo has made it to the finals in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Who or what has been a primary reason for the recent success of this franchise. (*tag anyone involved)

Victor Mariuz was carrying them, and I think getting rid of MCZ helped them a lot. He's pretty bad and Tanner is a much better dman, that trade was amazing for them. The GMs have also been really good at setting lines. Have to say though that they've also matched up well against the teams they faced, they are lucky they didn't go against CGY.

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

Well I have to go with Buffalo because they already won the cup. WPG has a bright future with Moreau though I must say. I think that Robinson is better at building his player in the sim with his TPE. He seems to know what attributes to upgrade first which is really benefiting BUF. Perhaps Moreau is a bit less experienced with the sim.

It seems like my offense took a great step this year, hitting 28 points on the season with an amazing 10 power play goals. My GM was quite impressed with the amount of PP goals I had this season, I believe I was top 5 in that category. Next season I look to improve on my defensive stats. Hoping to get my Defense up to 96 to start the season, while I continue to work on Checking to round out my 2 way game. As I approach the 1000 TPE mark I expect my numbers will really shoot up again this year. I'm hoping to hit 30 points for the first time in my career while also getting some solid SB and hit numbers. It looks like my role will be exactly the same as last year. Playing on the 2nd pairing with no PK, but being on the 2nd PP unit. I hope to get on the PK by midseason, but for that I must increase my defense to 99, we'll see how it works out.

Welcome to one of the greatest finals matchups of all time. On one corner we have the powerhouse BUF squad, facing off against the underdog Jets. What an amazing story the Jets have been this season, surprising everyone all season long. I'm pretty sure most people had them at the bottom of their predictions, but they proved everyone wrong and look at where they are today. I'm sure neutral fans all over the world will be on the Jets side, facing the bad-boy BUF team. Tune in to witness one of the most hyped up finals matchups in years, and help cheer on this underdog Jets team. Screw the Stampede!

I choose to air this on my very own brand new podcast because it's the perfect place to start my career. Although there are many great Podcasts out there, I think I can beat them all so I'm going to choose myself. I'm going to choose to build my team around Left Winger Noah Gallagher from the Winnipeg Jets. First of all, I can't come to choose anyone on the Stampede. Yeah, they have some amazing young talent, but I just really dislike the team. So my top pick from the Jets is Gallagher. I have history with fever on this site dating way back to S4. Pretty sure he joined the league at the same time as me and has created many amazing players over the years. I trust he will build another HOFer, plus he's just a great guy to have on the team. He's always a good dude in the locker room from what I've heard, and treats everyone with respect. I'd choose him not only to build around, but also to be my captain. There's no doubt in my mind that Gallagher would bring me another cup to add to my resume as GM of the Dragons (S8,S9).

Task 1

This is a homer pick but definitely Esa Parmborg.  He has star written all over him and it’s been a pleasure playing beside him.  He has played a factor in a lot of my success and I think I helped him boost his game last season.  I don’t mind being the bridesmaid in this scenario though.  To say I got to play beside one of the best when he was just starting out will be on honor.  On and off the ice the guy is a class act and has really helped Halifiax find an identity again.  We played spoiler to the #1 seed this past season and people have been looking at us a little differently since then.  Except Anaheim, they still have our number.  He can definitely be “the guy” that you build your team around.  Any team would be lucky to have him.  Look out and see how his career unfolds.

Task 3

Well I don’t think my play will improve too much between Season 48 and 49 based on league constraints.  But I feel like I was a solid hand and expect that to continue.  I was a good goal-scorer and clutch when it counted, especially in the playoffs.  I also managed to stay out of the penalty box most of the time.  The best contribution that I can make in my final Junior season is to help out the new rookies.  With this being a reddit draft we might have a lot of fresh faces who will need help and guidance.  I can help them stay motivated as they improve throughout the season.  Someone will have to take my spot and I want them to be as prepared as possible.  Who knows?  We might even challenge for the Cup this season if we have enough rookies improving across the board.  Time will tell but I hope to play more of a leadership role this season.  I don’t need an A or a C on my chest to help the new guys out. @Citizen of Adraa @"Flareon4043" Sorry guys, it said to tag you.

Task 5: Topic 3

Winnipeg made it on sheer grit and determination.  We see surprised all the time.  Sometimes teams punch above their weight and turn heads.  We like to focus on the dominant teams and who “should” win but every now and then a team can just flip the script.  They believed in themselves and at the end of the day the accomplished a lot.

Task 6

I honestly can’t remember who I looked up to when I first joined the league.  I was fairly well-rounded and knew that I needed improvement with my scoring and positioning.  I always liked being a winger because I like scoring goals and getting points.  It’s selfish reason but there it is.  It just so happens that when I score goals, it improves our chances of winning.  So I see no problem with being selfish in that regard.  I also wanted to improve my positioning and defense because you have to be able to play both sides in today’s game.  It’s just how it goes.  My priority is to put goals on the board and I admire players who do that with ease.  So I look up to them and hope to be compared to them one day.  For now, I’ll just keep doing my thing.  I feel like anyone who says they don’t like seeing their name at the top of the leaderboards is fooling themselves.

Task 10

This will be hard to do because I can’t pull the index but let’s focus on Season 33, Montreal’s last Four Star Cup Win.  They stopped Kelowna’s first three-peat in epic fashion.  While most of the players from that Militia squad have fizzled out, Adam Kaiser had an amazing SHL career.  Montreal took an early 2-0 series lead but Kelowna tied it up.  Game 6 was probably the one everyone remembers as it turned into a wild shootout.  Kelowna survived and made it to Game 7 before eventually losing.  The final for Game 6 was a score of 7-6.  The shots were many and so were the goals.  Kelowna had their number though and came out on top.  This entire series was epic but Game 7 was almost anti-climactic.  It was Montreal’s last win although they have come close since.  It is still talked about by those who lived through it and it was a result of a lot of hard work from the GMs.
