Quote:Mathias Chouinard Award - Top GM Duo

In fourth place after leading their team to a 24-20-6 record is @FuzzSHL and @cpetrella . These guys had their players skating through walls in the postseason, and if playoff results were taken into account, the Awards Committee would have surely had this duo higher. Congrats to Fuzz and Trella for their 4th place finish!

In third place, taking over after a pair of borderline inactive GM's were given the boot, and after using a league high number of draft picks in the S49 SMJHL Reddit Draft to rebuild their team are GM's @JNH and @SDCore . This duo helped rebuild Lethbridge in one season, hitting on picks early and late in the draft, and should result in Lethbridge being strong for seasons to come!

And finally, the moment all GM's have been waiting for..... the award for the Best GM pair in the league goes to.....

Congrats to @NJBadApple and @Noble ! The Award Winning GM Duo out of Kelowna took the Knights from a 10th place finish the season before, to a second season finish with a final record of 28-16-6. This team pushed the Falcons all year in the race for the Laurifier Trophy. This team finished middle of the pack in team TPE Rankings, and middle of the pack in CF, but with their GMs figuring out good line combinations, hitting on some great picks like @Naosu , this year's Mathias Chouinard Award winners are well deserved.

That then means @Flareon and @Citizen of Adraa came in second. Although the Committee heavily favoured the Knights GMs over the Raiders, Halifax still had a successful season, developing multiple first round SHL picks, including the 1st overall pick in @charlieconway, these guys have a bright future in what should be a competitive SMJHL season.

In a tie for 3rd place, recieving the same number of votes from the Awards Committee are....

@Symmetrik Luca Vecelli (LET) and @thiefofcheese Ivan Maximus (ANA) !

Here's what some committee members had to say on these two players.

Regarding Vecelli: "Luca Veccelli "finished second among rookies in points while also maintaining a positive defensive record (+7 on the season, big minutes on the PK) and a 50.21% efficiency on the dot." | "played more on the PK while maintaing the same offensive production as well as bieng slightly better in +/- compared to his team than Maximus"

Regarding Maximus: "Ivan Maximus finished fourth in scoring, and is 12th in TPE, but the role he had to occupy was a gigantic one. He immediately made himself a presence in the locker room, and got the A on his chest before even playing a game, and filled the 1C role with plenty of people leaving for the SHL" | "top rookie scoring on team, fourth in overall rookie scoring. team as a whole had second most goals scored so did well to finish fourth overall"

Great seasons fellas!

Quote:Vyacheslav Onoprienko Trophy- Most Underrated Player

Thanks @DaftRaincloud for the video! Great stuff. Congrats to @Velevra for the ROTY!

Here are your nominees for the Most Underrated Player.

@FinnRhys FR Finn-Rhys (HFX)
@JaytheGreat Jakub Bruchevski (STL)
@KlusteR Markus Tegernako (LET)
@thebigschnoz Zbigniew Pokrywka (MTL)

As mentioned earlier, the GM's each nominated one of their players for this award, and provided reasoning for why their players deserved it.

In fourth place - @JaytheGreat Jakub Bruchevski (STL)

In third place - @thebigschnoz Zbigniew Pokrywka (MTL)

In second place - @FinnRhys FR Finn-Rhys (HFX)

Congrats to rookie goalie @KlusteR aka Markus Tegernako (LET) for winning the Vyacheslav Onoprienko Trophy!

Tegernako was given the most underrated Player in the SMJHL for his rise up through Lethbridge, beginning out as an undrafted player and siging with Lethbridge after the Reddit Draft. This rookie had a regular season record of 14-8-1 as the Lions backup goalie, playing more and more as the year went on. Eventually, the GMs gave him the crease, and he responded with a strong playoffs, winning 6 games while posting two shutouts. @SDCore referred to @KlusteR as a beacon of activity, never complaining about playing time, and always being around in the locker room. Congrats to Markus for winning this season's Vyacheslav Onoprienko Trophy!
