The SHL Board Game: Live Out Your Dream as An SHL Star!

Set Up
Each player must take a player board and assign 15 points to their various base stats (Speed, Hitting, Fighting, and Skill) along with drawing a random SMJHL team token to decide which SMJHL team you start on. You may optionally decide to give your player a name and/or nationality though these do not affect game play.

SMJHL Career Begins
After every player has been set up your SMJHL career begins, turn begin clockwise with the player on the most recent SMJHL Champion going first. Each turn you have 3 action points that you can spend Training a Stat or Drawing a Card. After every player takes their turn it is game time, and Match Up Cards should be drawn until every player has a game going on (Multiple players can play in the same game)

Training
Training a stat first requires that you choose a stat and then roll a number higher than your current number in that stat to succeed. You can also use Training Assistance cards to add to your roll

Cards
There are two types of cards: Training Assistance cards, which add to your training rolls and Off Ice Event cards, which modify your reputation according to the number on it.

example:
Player A is on the Vancouver Whalers
Player B is on the St. Louis Scarecrows
Player C is on the Carolina Kraken

Match Up Cards drawn are:
Vancouver Whalers vs Anaheim Outlaws (Player A is in this game)
Lethbridge Lions vs Colorado Raptors (No players are in this game)
St. Louis Scarecrows vs Carolina Kraken (Players B and C are in this game)

Game Time
During a Game you draw from the Game Events deck and use dice rolls and your Stats to decide how you go about responding to these events. As you respond to Game Events you gain Reputation depending on how successful you respond.

example:
As you skate down center ice you find yourself blocked by a defender at the blue line how do you approach the situation?
Skate Past Him (Speed) (7)
Knock Him Over (Hitting) (8)

Player A has a 3 in Base speed so he would need to roll a 4 or higher to skate past the defender, however Player A has 8 in hitting so he will always succeed in knocking the defender over. Your Stat + Roll has the Number besides the option subtracted from it with the difference being the change in your Reputation.

End of Season and Awards
After the Match Up deck runs out of cards the season is over after which it is award time. Awards are given to players with high enough reputation and stats and are given out at the end of each season (not including the rookie of the year award which only happens in the first season). Winning an Award gains you extra reputation but lowers the number of actions you can take during the off season.

Off Season
During the off season each player has 10 actions points (5 if an award winner) that they can spend Training and Drawing cards at the end of the off season all players must discard their hand and the Draw Deck and Match Up Deck are reshuffled.

SHL Draft
After the first SMJHL season everyone is entered into the SHL Draft, where each round the players rolls dice to see if they are drafted that round rolling that round's number on the dice or lower to get selected (ex. Round 1 you need to roll a 1. Round 2 roll a 2 or 1, so on). After being drafted randomly select an SHL team Token to place on your Player board. You get a reputation bonus depending on what round you are drafted in.

Round 1: +15 Reputation
Round 2: +8 Reputation
Round 3: +5 Reputation
Round 4: +3 Reputation
Round 5: +1 Reputation
Round 6: +0 Reputation

Players with more than 100 Reputation move up to the SHL where they use the SHL Draw Deck and Match Up Deck and compete for SHL awards. Winner is the first player to surpass 1000 reputation.

This of course will be the game of "CLUE-Who killed the Russian Hooker?"

The game of clue is a strategy based murder solving game, you have to move around the board and go into different rooms, and guess who killed who and with what.

The characters would be :
Matt Kholin (For Russian hooker reasons)
Thicc Cheezy
Jack Durden
Ben Dover
Ace Redding
Random Russian Hooker

The rooms located on the board would be:
Minnesota Chiefs Locker room
Hamilton Steelhawks Locker Room (Sorry Hamilton, there's no 'stats' in the game of clue. Can't cheat this time)
Chicago Syndicate Lcker Room
Matt Kholins House
Calgary Dragons Locker Room
Los Angeles Panthers Locker Room
Toronto North Stars Locker Room
Manhattan Rage Locker Room
Winnipeg Jets Locker Room

The weapons would be :
Hockey Stick
Skate Blade
Knife
Glove
Poison
Jock Strap
Helmet
Ice Shard
Zambonie

The dice would remain the same.

A turn looks something like this :
Thicc Cheezy would role. I get a 10, Matt Kholins house is 8 spaces away, I move there. I accuse Matt Kholin of murdering Random Russian hooker with a knife in his house. We go around the board to see if anyone has any of those cards, whoever passes me the card of whatever I accused, I Mark it down and know that is not apart of the final official accusation.

This will be the game of the DECADE

BONUS POINTS:
If the game ends and the final accusation turns out to be Matt Kholin, in Matt Kholins house with the Knife, you can send confirmation to the board game developer and they will send you a special prize! (It won't be a Russian hooker, there don't seem to be any more of those left...)

Secret Hitler: SHL Edition

The original is a hidden identity and social deduction where two teams go up against each other. In some ways it is similar to the popular game Werewolf, in that the "bad guys" or Facists in this case, know each others identity so they can conspire, but they are outnumbered by the initially uninformed Liberals. Unlike in Werewolf however, this game doesn't see a player killed every round, instead every stays in the game until the late stages and people have to form governments and pass laws in order for their side to win. And of course there is constant arguing, bickering and accusing other players of being the baddies which for some reason I think could tie in well to the SHL...

So in the regular game there are Facists and Liberals, in the SHL version however those two teams will be replaced by HO and the Members. Everyone will claim to just be a regular innocent member, but who is actually secretly a part of the nefarious Head Office? Oh and did I mention that in the base game one of the Facists actually has a special role and is literally Hitler? Well who better to fill that role than our current Commissioner, which is why this game will be called "Secret Eggy"!

My SHL board game would be derived from Uno, where each player is dealt a number of cards labelled "Passing" with different values and colours, as well as some with different effects once activated. Some of these effects, like in Uno, will reverse the turn order, switch the card colour that can be placed, or force another player to pick up cards (up to a full hand) or undo a redistribution of their cards that they had made legally. A full hand is given a score of 99 and you cannot pick up more than a full hand of cards, the goal of the game is to reduce your Passing cards to a score of 40 and then make it a full turn without other players complaining enough to cause the referee to undo your last several turns. This prevents scenarios where any player wins through skill and game knowledge rather than impartial luck, because as we all know, winning is against the spirit of the game

It would be a simple checker board but each team would have its own set of rules and advantages or disadvantages. So the really good players might challenge themselves trying to win with a weaker team while beginners would start with a stronger team. Hear are the special rules for the teams.
New Orleans Specters - Start the game with four kings
Edmondon Blizzard - Can move two spots per turn
Calgary Dragons - Automatically start the game with eight kings, but if they accidentally have nine that's ok
Los Angeles Panthers - Normal team, no additional rules
Minnesota Chiefs - Have to tell a story after every turn
Texas Renegades - Start the game with half your pieces, have to make it to the other end of the board to unlock additional pieces, and all the way back again to get King
Winnipeg Jets - Gets one auto-kill per game
San Francisco Pride - Opponent can randomly take a king off the board at any time
Hamilton Steelhawks - No information available until new board comes out
West Kendall Platoon - Can move sideways, not just diagonally
Chicago Syndicate - Can move forward and backward, not just diagonally
Manhattan Rage - Has to answer a trivia question before each move
Tampa Bay Barracuda - Only one piece available unless they decide to go by Barracudas
Buffalo Stampede - Distracting laugh track plays after every move
Toronto North Stars - Only allowed to kill opposing pieces with one player
New England Wolfpack - Only start the game with ten pieces

I am proposing an SHL version of Settlers of Catan called "Expanders of SHL". Rather than choosing just a basic color like it is now players would choose a franchise that is building up its farm teams abroad. The board would remain similar in the aspect that it is a new island or continent in which the SHL is expanding. The tiles would need to change to suit the game, so rather than wheat, brick, stone, sheep, and wood it would be players of different types: sniper, set up man, 2 way forward, offensive defenseman, and defensive defensman. The goal is to build as many thriving clubs with the logistics to move players up and down (roads) as possible. The thief piece would be renamed "losing streak" and keep teams from signing/developing their players. The knight card would be changed to "Coach's Charisma" and allow players to end their losing streak and send it another team's way. The trade ports would operate in exactly the same way that they do now.

The SHL Monopoly game, where you get lucky TPE based on where you land on the board, and if someone lands on a space someone claimed TPE on they get suspended and lose TPE themselves. This means that the lucky few who get TPE will be able to lord over the rest of the players and get career numbers while others will get crap STHS luck and never get a chance to succeed. This is kind of like the real SHL since there are a lucky few who get the breaks while others do not. This game would not be fun to play, just like Monopoly, and people who buy it anyway because it would be a staple of the SHL and an institution of some sorts. Plus the game would last forever as people who are low in TPE get mad at the people with high TPE just killing their players and getting all the points.

Alonzo Garbanzo Final Tallies (Among Defensemen):
2nd in Goals (208), All-Time Assists Leader (765)*, All-Time Points Leader (973), 3rd in Hits (2587), All-Time Blocked Shots Leader (1882)*
*All-Time Leader Among All Skaters

The SHL board game I would create is an SHL version of Trouble. A simplistic board game where you try and round the board with your 4 pieces while avoiding getting overtaken, an SHL version would focus on the best hitters from either S51 or throughout history. You overtake a piece by landing on the same space as a piece and sending it back to it's home base. To put that into an SHL context, overtaking is much like hitting a player off the puck, the exact reason why we would be focusing on hitting. Each team would be made up of 4 players, with 3 forwards and one defensemen. Each player would pick from a group of player pieces. Some of these players would include Mike Izzy, Mikhail Lokitonov and Andreas Kvalheim on forward. For defence, players like Poopity Scoop, Tor Tuck and Oliver Cleary would be made available. The game would be played by much the same rules, but with an SHL flair.

My version of the SHL monopoly is to have advancements on the board by TPE, but you can only earn TPE by doing random things like writing over 150 words or randomly earn tpe by guessing things correctly. I would also make it so that there is also a lotery in which if you are chosen and complete a thing then you get more TPE than other people. Like a ponzi scheme, if you get someone to join and earn tpe, you get TPE by proxy, as that is how we grow the SHL. And dont forget, in order to buy property you need to earn money which the best time to do it is wait until they give double the bonuses to everyone who throws shit at the wall so thats the only time people try to write stuff. For the people who want to write meaningful stuff that wants to be clear and concise, too bad because its all about the word count. In this version of monopoly, only the people who have the luck and can write 2k words about nothing win Smile
