Alternate Reality: Physicists and other smarties believe that this reality is just one of infinite realities existing alongside this one in parallel. Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S51 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there?

I feel like i've written about this alternate reality before but this season it makes even more sense for it to happen as it actually was quite likely in some reality's. In this reality Hamilton doesn't have an OP shooting team so we can just assume they don't exist, also in this reality Crawfling is somehow not a god against Chicago so the Syndicate would take their 2-0 series lead and move on to the Eastern finals beating Buffalo somehow and advancing to the challenge cup finals. Meanwhile in the west NOLA decides to not randomly lose in the playoffs again after dominating the regular season as usual and easily makes the finals for an exciting expansion bowl. Unfortunately at this point Cain decides to do his random sucking in the playoffs due to STHS hating him and NOLA and Chicago wins the cup in an exciting 7 game series.

A. Tommy Tuck posted a better SV% during the regular season, but Geezus Kryyst has been lights out during the playoffs. Which team has the advantage in goal for this series?
B. Edmonton averages more hits per game than Hamilton, but also more PIMs - and Hamilton has proven pretty deadly on the power play this postseason while the Blizzard's PK has struggled. Be the coach: should Edmonton stick to a physical style of play or back off a bit in this series?
C. Who is your X-factor skater in this series? Who's got the intangibles? Who's gonna step up for their team when it matters most? Why do you think so?
D. Which player name is your favorite from the rosters of these two teams? (not your favorite player, but your favorite name)
E. WOULD YOU RATHER: (a) eat a Pepperoni pizza with Tony Pepperoni (debatably cannibalism), (b) get a nice long hug from Teddy Cuddles, © have Tor and Tommy Tuck tuck you into bed at night, (d) do squats with Hugh Jazz, (e) have a tug of war with Tig, or (f) have Aaron Wilson uncover a brand new strategy for your team to use? Why?

A) I think Geezus Kryyst has the advantage in goal for this series, not because I think hes a better goaltender although he may be as  both are extremely good goalies and two of the best in the league, but because Kryyst will be more fresh due to Hamilton being so good at constantly shooting the puck resulting in the puck always being in the Edmontons Blizzard zone and eventually a tired out Tommy Tuck

B) While you don't want to be not physical at all as it can be quite useful for intimidating the opponent and getting the puck off them, I think in this case Edmonton should back way off in this series as Hamiltons powerplay is deadly and lethal due to their skill and capability of shooting the puck.

C) My X-factor skater in this series is Aaron Wilson, he practices 24 hours a day refining his skills giving no other team any real chance of beating him, in the end as long as he's on the team Hamilton will be good and I don't see what Edmonton can really do about it

D) My favorite player name from these rosters is Terrence Nova, I'm pretty neutral on the name Terrence not having any thoughts on it either way, but for some reason I really like the name Nova and think its cool. It's a nice color too and everything nova related is cool.

E) Two of these options appeal to me more than the others, first off pepperoni pizza is great and who's to say Tony Pepperoni isnt a huge pepperoni pizza fan too, secondly who wouldn't want Aaron Wilson to uncover a brand new strategy for their team to use, i'd love to watch such a galaxy brain in action working.

The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know!

After a disappointing game 7 loss to the Manhattan Rage in the Eastern Conference Semi Finals. Daniel Smeb plans on taking a nice little break and vacation for as long as he can, perhaps he'll go back to his original home of Korea for a bit to visit some friends and other family, his fellow Smeb brothers would probably come along with him though making the trip much less pleasant. After that Daniel has to begin training again for the IIHF and Team Japan as the team made their first run out of the group stage last year and after a crushing one goal loss to the eventual champs in Team USA are looking for even more this success this time. Lastly Daniel has much work to do in the offseason mostly involving figuring out how to get better at shooting and worse at passing so that he can lead his team to the finals this time and an eventual challenge cup

Welp, you waited until the last day to grind out your CW and the CC finals are longggggggg over by now. congrats to [TEAM], woo! Reflecting back on the series, who gets your vote for series MVP? Make the case why this player deserves it over any other.

The index isn't fully updated making this a bit harder but if i had to vote for MVP it would have to be one of Aaron Wilson, Tony Pepperoni or Geezus Kryyst. I think cases can be made for why all 3 are deserving for the award. For Aaron Wilson he's on of the teams leading scorers offensively and supposedly has a very big impact on the team off the ice too. Geezus Kryyst has been outstanding these playoffs so far with an insane save % and is another reason why this HAM team is having so much success. Lastly Tony Pepperoni perhaps the SHL MVP is continuing his dominance in the playoffs as one of the leading scorers and by far the leader of his team offensively

Pretend that your team has hit an injury bug - the roster is so depleted that your coach is asking you to play out of position. What position is your coach asking you to play and what about your player build will help you be successful in this new role?

If I were to play out of position, I'd honestly say that my best shot at doing so is gonna be as a goalie. First of all, I'm a pretty big boy. Standing at 6 foot 2 inches and 205 lbs, I take up a reasonably large portion of the goal already. Second, two of my strengths are skating and puck handling. Being able to handle the puck and skate fast should ideally translate to being able to get around the crease with relative ease as well as use my good hand-eye coordination to be able to react to shots in time and keep pucks out of the net. Additionally, I'd like to think I can hold my own on defense here, so I can track the puck to a reasonable level and read a play, giving me and advantage in being able to figure out where the puck is going to be moving and subsequently coming at me from.

Which player from Hamilton or Edmonton would you bet on to win a regular season individual award in a future season? What player and what award? What makes you think they'll live up to their potential and take home the hardware?

For awards, I'm gonna go with Tig Murphy winning defenseman of the year. He had quite the incredible campaign this year and I would be surprised if he doesn't take it home in S51. Although he will be hitting regression in S52 and getting worse, I think he'll still be able to pull together a pretty incredible season despite this. With the roster around him and the force that Hamilton has shaped up to be, I think that we can count on at least 2-3 more seasons of Tig being one of the most dominant defensemen to lace up the skates.

Here we go again, it is that time
CW is here, I must stake my claim
Upon this forum I write, meter and rhyme
Even if this sonnet ends up a bit lame

Upon a sheet of ice, the stage is set
Skates are sharpened and ready to go
Come on down and place your bet
Sticks are taped, from heel to toe

Shot after shot, pucks enter the goal
The onslaught of rubber was too much to bear
All series long Edmonton hoped they would hit the pole
The SHL was upset, ready to rip and tear

The playoffs were over, Hammy had won
Some say not a single pass was even done

Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S51 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there?
In this other reality, the Calgary Dragons continued their winning playoff ways. Not only that, but Mikael Choybuk dominated throughout the whole playoffs, beating out the Edmonton Blizzard almost single handedly and is on the verge of breaking the post-season goal record before the finals even start. In that reality, Hamilton is still in the finals, but because of skill rather than their alleged, controversial sim breaking ways. Choybuk and Parmborg are together in control of the whole post-season as a duo, and nobody can stop them. The odds makers in the SHL have them taking this finals series over Hamilton quite easily. Not only is Choybuk on the brink of beating the post-season goal record, but Esa Parmborg is about to kill the assist record. These two are just destroyers right now in the playoffs, and no team wants anything to do with them. Calgary in this alternate reality is going to win the Challenge Cup, whether the league likes it or not.

The Calgary Dragons defense core has been hit hard this playoffs, and Mikael Choybuk has been asked to slot in as a defenseman moving forward. No, Choybuk is not going to be your classic, big man defenseman who has strength on the puck. Mikael Choybuk has elite skating, which will definitely help him in that regard, as well as fantastic scoring. He will not be your hulking defenseman, but more of the type of a Quinn Hughes, or Cale Makar. Quick, shifty skating, a good shot, and great puck handling skills. Do not look for him to get physical at all, because he just really can't be. If somebody takes the body and Choybuk does not move out of the way quick, he will get bodied. His passing is not elite status, but it is really good at 90, so you can look for him to not fumble passes often. Not only that, but his defense is really good, but not amazing. He's got a 90 in that category as well, so while he does not often mess up, don't get too reliant on his defensive skills. Mikael as a defenseman is going to be fun to watch.

The SHL, trying to re-extend popularity among a fan base whose numbers have diminished this quarter, is hosting a town hall think tank right before the finals. It is a well-attended event, and many come forward with ideas to reinvigorate the league. What are some ways the SHL can re-ignite that flame with fans and soar to new heights of popularity? (don't you dare write about sim engines here, pretend this is a real life hockey league and answer it that way lol)
If there is anywhere that the SHL should branch into, it is the restaurant game. More specifically, restaurants that sell chicken parmesan dishes. The Calgary Dragons are widely known for their love of chicken parms, but I think if we can expand that into the entirety of the SHL, the numbers will only go up. Seriously, tell me one reason why Simulation Hockey League and chicken parmesan would not be great together? You could even re-brand the whole league into the Chicken Parm League. I mean, yeah, the Calgary Dragons would have a head start in the chicken parm game, but that will just be how it is. More seriously, while not being serious at all really, the SHL should have each of their teams pick a food or restaurant to sponsor with. Calgary would be some chicken parm place, maybe the Edmonton Blizzard could be Dairy Queen with their Blizzards. Teams could make it a vote, and hang their SHL logos in the windows of said restaurant.

Why?
A: I gotta say that Geezus Kryyst has the advantage in this one. Like you said, Tuck had the better regular season, but Kryyst has been just stellar. A 93.4% of saves with just 1 loss is nothing to look past. 2.22 GAA is the best of the playoffs thus far as well, so I feel like Geezus takes this easy on this question. Whether Tommy Tuck can dominate the finals is another question, but looking just at the stats, Geezus Kryyst has been the far better goalie.
B: I think Edmonton should just keep playing their game. No team should have to change up what has made them successful just for 1 team. Of course you should try to match lines and adjust in other areas, but to pull back the physicality just because of another team's PP? I do not think that's a good idea.
C: I think if any player is going to be an X-factor, it has to be Tony Pepperoni. Leading up to the finals, he is only 1 back from leading the entire playoffs in points. Not only that, but he is just a complete player, while also leading the whole playoffs in hits with 65 hits. He has 7 goals also, which ties him for the best in the SHL in the playoffs too. Pepperoni brings everything you want to the table, and that rough style of play as a big goal scoring threat is something all teams want.
D: My favourite named player has to be Tony Pepperoni. Pepperoni goes great anywhere. A sandwich, a quesadilla, a cheeseboard, a pizza, and even an SHL team. Tony also rhymes with Pepperoni, so there is just a lot to like there. If you can make a player name and have it rhyme, you are pretty cool in my books.

VIP Status again babyyyyyyyy - your player has been invited to attend one of the first homestands of the CC finals as a VIP guest - all expenses paid, front row seats, any hotel you want - and it's all on the Commissioner's dime! Eggy has complained to me the past two seasons about having to pay for this so I'm graciously volunteering SDCore to front the costs for this season's splurge! (This is the same prompt as in the past but we've got different cities! be creative! Don't re-use what was written last season.)

I am probably going to Hamilton for this VIP weekend, Edmonton is a nicer city for sure, but it's only a short trip away from home and can be gone to anytime during the season. So I am going to Hamilton for sure, I will gladly take a free trip on the commishs tab and be able to bring my boys with me. I am flying the whole lot of the Calgary Dragons to Hamilton with me and we will make this a time to remember, or try to remember I should say. We will eat at the finest of restaurants, we will drink the finest of liquors, smoke the finest cigars and have the finest ladies of the night on our arms. This would be a trip fof the ages and have such a ridiculous tab that it would probably be the end of this trip that has become a yearly staple of this league.

A. Tommy Tuck posted a better SV% during the regular season, but Geezus Kryyst has been lights out during the playoffs. Which team has the advantage in goal for this series?

Hamilton has the advantage in goal in this series for sure. Simply for the fact that Hamilton will take a million shots on Edmontons net, for that simple fact, no goalie is able to stop everything coming at him so it seems quite simple to suggest that Hamilton has the upper hand in this series.

B. Edmonton averages more hits per game than Hamilton, but also more PIMs - and Hamilton has proven pretty deadly on the power play this postseason while the Blizzard's PK has struggled. Be the coach: should Edmonton stick to a physical style of play or back off a bit in this series?

Edmonton should try to back off of the physicallity a bit as Hamilton will be deadly on the PP. Finishing their checks is recommended for sure, but they should be weary of taking extra liberties on their hits or just during the game in general as putting Hamilton on the PP wil not work out for them at all.

C. Who is your X-factor skater in this series? Who's got the intangibles? Who's gonna step up for their team when it matters most? Why do you think so?

I think Tony Pepperoni will be the X-Factor in this series. He is one of Edmontons top players and will likely be a deciding factor in the series. If he can get going, then Hamilton will be in trouble. If they are able to contain him then Hamilton should easily cruise to victory.

D. Which player name is your favorite from the rosters of these two teams? (not your favorite player, but your favorite name)

I love the name Karlstrabe Scholz. I realize I have anglicized the name as I am to lazy to find it to copy and paste, but I just like the way the name looks and how I think it sounds. It's a great looking and all around great sounding name.

E. Why?

I would take Aaron Wilson for sure, he's already proved his ability to find strategies and I think he would be a valuable asset to any team. While I may not use the strategies he finds, I will be glad to have him on my team working with me, rather then on another working against me.

Congratulations Hamilton, I guess. I would say without a doubt Aaron Wilson has to get MVP of this series, if not for his play then for his strategies he has found for sure. He is the reason for Hamiltons success in the whole season and should be rewarded with MVP for sure. Without him, they are just another middle of the pack team, but Aaron has found a way to give them success. While I may not be a fan of the way that the strategy is employed, it is well within the rules and as such has won Hamilton a Challenge Cup.

If I had the choice to get the VIP status in either Edmonton or Hamilton for the Challenge Cup finals, I would have to choose Edmonton. In the end, it is a really tough choice because neither city is really that desirable. Edmonton is very cold and that its biggest negative. Comparing that to Hamilton though, which smells really bad at all hours of the day, I can put up with a bit of cold for a few days. First thing I'm going to do to run up the tab is ask for the most expensive penthouse with the most expensive heater in order to combat the Edmonton cold. If my penthouse is so hot, I won't even notice. Then, I'm only requesting ubers with the most expensive heaters. I'm okay with a regular box seat at both games. The seats don't matter to me as much as the presence of the most expensive heaters does.

If my team had an injury bug so bad that my player needed to move to a different position, I feel like the best position for Cleary would be on the right wing. I'm not sure if Cleary could hang as a scoring threat on the top line, but his build would allow him to spend time on the middle lines and be able to provide some great support. Cleary's highest attributes are his passing, checking and defence so Cleary would make a really good two-way winger who is able to provide support in both zones. With a scoring and passing gap os about 10 TPE, Cleary should be able to provide enough offensive to keep things competitive when his line is out. As a 6'3”, 215 pounder, Cleary may also be able to provide his offence as a net front presence on the powerplay. So Cleary, if needed, could be used as a decent second line right wing option.

I think the player who will eventually take home an individual regular season award is Hamilton's Gabriel Johnson. With 33 points in his sophomore season, Johnson is starting to quickly establish himself as a top offensive defensemen. Though his defensive game may not be there yet, it is easier to teach defence than offence. As such, I'm expecting Johnson to eventually take home the Scott Stevens trophy for best defensemen. With Johnson's offensive potential, he's on the fast track to really establish himself as a top guy so once the rest of his game catches up, it's going to be hard to start denying him the chance at top hardware.

I think that Edmonton should keep up their physical style in this play despite the great Hamilton powerplay. My biggest issue with changing your system out the game is that we don't know how Hamilton will respond against the Edmonton penalty kill. Every team they have faced plays a different PK system than Edmonton. See how it goes at first and make adjustments as you go.

The X-Factor for the Challenge Cup finals will be Robert Phelps of Hamilton. Though his play hasn't really dropped off while he has gotten older, he's the one player we can look at as the one with the most to play for. He's an older player who has never won a Cup. He's going to come in and play lights out really tipping the scales.

If I had to choose from all these options, I would choose a nice, long hug from Teddy Cuddles. Cuddles has been one of the hardest hitters during his career. I offered to play the middle but we agreed that I would need to conserve energy during some shifts and therefore wing made the most sense. I will be out there for both special team units, manning the point on the powerplay and acting as a forward on the penalty kill. I may be a little long in the tooth but I'm as good once as I ever was. - 3 TPE
5. After a few seasons of coasting and not really working out much, I am excited to get back into the gym and try to end the tailspin my career was in. I am a free agent this upcoming offseason and that is easily the thing I am looking forward to. I hope to repair my image a little and show that I can still be trusted to be an elite-level player. I have no idea which teams if any, will reach out and offer me a contract and I am aware that I am not the promising young talent I once was but I know I have a lot left in the tank. I would obviously like to see a fair monetary offer but I'm not looking for a huge payday; more important to me is that I have a sizeable role on the backend and can help contribute to my team's success. - 3 TPE

Pretend that your team has hit an injury bug - the roster is so depleted that your coach is asking you to play out of position. What position is your coach asking you to play and what about your player build will help you be successful in this new role?

I think a very high % of players want to score goals and create offense but I’ve always enjoyed making sure the opposite team scores as little as possible, which is why I’m trying to become a good two-way forward like Bergeron, Toews or Kopitar. I always work on my defense skills first and I think I can say that I’m fairly good defensively.
Defense is definitely the strength of our team, as we have a superstar in Tig Murphy, and great young defensemen Jax Duggan, Gabriel Johnson, Akashi SixNine and Samuel Michaud.
I started this season as a winger but I was asked to switch to center after our second line center went down with an injury. I haven’t player at center since juniors and it was definitely a struggle, my faceoff % is quite low but overall I did ok.
However, after 3 of our defensemen got injured, the coach decided to try me with Tig Murphy on first pairing. It seemed like a crazy idea at first but I enjoyed being a defenseman a lot, and I think my skills meshed well with Tig’s playing style.

The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know!

With the IIHF tournament coming up this season isn’t over yet. I am focused on bringing the gold medal back to Canada, I know we have a very deep roster and I might not be among the top forwards but I’m willing to do whatever it takes and play any role that the management needs. I’m also hoping to sign an extension this offseason. My agent has been discussing it with the team but as far as I know there is no deal yet. I want to get paid, after a 57 point season and 2 dominant playoff runs I feel like I deserve it. My first contract was 0.5M AAV for 3 seasons, and I’m currently making 3M per season. It’s frankly embarrassing to know that I’m not one of the highest paid players in the league. I will sign 12x10 with any team that offers it but I’m hoping to remain a Steelhawk, and I am willing to take a hometown discount and sign 8x10.

Which player from Hamilton or Edmonton would you bet on to win a regular season individual award in a future season? What player and what award? What makes you think they'll live up to their potential and take home the hardware?

This may be considered a long shot but I think Steelhawks’ prospect out of Halifax Al Kayhall will lead the league in points one day and win the Sergei Karpotsev Trophy.  Kayhall wasn’t considered a top prospect at the time of the draft but he was very high on Hamilton’s draft board and they sure were happy to draft him at #14. Ever since the draft Kayhall’s work ethic has been incredible, he’s willing to put in time to improve his player and it’s already paying off. He had a very good season for Halifax with 23 goals and 23 assists in 50 games, and I think we can expect him to continue to improve.

E. WOULD YOU RATHER: (a) eat a Pepperoni pizza with Tony Pepperoni (debatably cannibalism), (b) get a nice long hug from Teddy Cuddles, (c) have Tor and Tommy Tuck tuck you into bed at night, (d) do squats with Hugh Jazz, (e) have a tug of war with Tig, or (f) have Aaron Wilson uncover a brand new strategy for your team to use? Why?

A. I think Hamilton has the advantage in goal. Kryyst has been absolutely on fire all postseason, he comes into this series with a .934 sv%. This is his first finals appearance and he will be eager to prove himself. Tuck is an experienced goaltender who is enjoying a good postseason as well (.915) so it’s a close matchup.

B. If we look at postseason stats, Edmonton averages 6.27 penalty minutes per game vs 5.56 for Hamilton so the difference is negligible. Hamilton is 4 for 21 on the PP which is really not that great, and Edmonton actually has a better PP%. In any case, if it ain't broke don't fix it, and Edmonton should stick to their style of play.

C. I’ve played almost every game of my career with Dale Miller and I know he always rises to the occasion. After a decent but not a great regular season he’s absolutely on fire in the playoffs, Miller had at least 1 point in every game in the first 2 rounds and expect him to do more of the same. He might be short but that’s one of the reasons he’s so good.

It is true that Steelhawks usually win because of their offense but the story of this postseason has been the play of Geezus Kryyst. He is undoubtedly the series MVP and he deserves the playoffs MVP as well but let's focus on his performance in the finals. Game 1 was probably his best game of the playoffs as he stopped 45 shots out of 47 before Iam Essellemm scored the OT winner for Hamilton. In game 2 he was outstanding once again, stopping 33 out of 35 shots. Game 3 was a must win for Edmonton but they only managed to get 1 shot past Kryyst. Steelhawks’ netminder struggled in game 4 but he rebounded in game 5.

Easily it would be Edmonton. I have no clue what kind of food to buy because it is Edmonton and I’m not sure there is a thriving food scene in comparison to other cities but hey you never know. I guess the first thing I would do is load up on Tim Hortons and Pizza and have it overflowing from the VIP box like mana from heaven. A doughnut for every child and a coffee for every parent. Let none say Rykov is not generous. I would also take a clinic on passing just to make sure I am sharp and up on one aspect of my game. I would also take an ethics seminar just in case I get any silly notions to manipulate something for shortsighted gain. After that it is just limos, champagne, and throwing as many squids as I can on the ice until they kick me out of the box.

Well in this alternate reality the HO would have acted for subverting the league and attempting to destabilize by suspending Hamilton itself so basically, we would have the same setup as we do now but with Edmonton. My guess would be we would have seen Edmonton vs Manhattan it would have been a very tight series and I think in general would have left the league in better long-term health till the simulation could be replaced. Maybe even have less retirements and people leaving because they are burned out but alas, we are in the reality where the league was “saved” we shall see. Regardless of what timeline at least we are taking some good steps towards replacing the sim and even though it undermined HO’s authority and confidence that they refuse to act on Hamilton due to high placed members being in their ranks maybe they can regain it with a proper shift to the sim so that it won’t matter what reality we are in.

Honestly, I want to jokingly say goalie as I would be horrid in any position I was shifted too as winger seems to be what I am tailor made to do. I could play center though it would likely be a tough uphill battle with a barely touched faceoff percentage and the fact that while I do have decent strength I would be in a rather tough spot. Though defenseman might be a better choice as it provides the fact that Rykov is becoming a much more physical player and his amount of hits keep going up dramatically each season providing a stronger more active game. Though he would likely be a much more offensive dman because it is how he plays wing. There have also been precedents of forwards playing dmen successfully in the league especially if they are more offensive minded and seem to provide an edge against teams running typical defensive pairings. Wherever I ended up I would try my best to adapt.

Rykov’s plans for the offseason were unfortunately coming surprisingly early this season and he was caught a little off guard. A good part of it was spent going over with the rest of the Kraken what went wrong during the playoffs and how the curse of coming in first place for the season seems to come to fruition far too often even for someone who is not prone to superstition like Rykov. After that Rykov again went back to his plan of hitting the ice and gym while consuming inordinate amounts of Carolina BBQ and wondering what the next season will bring for the Kraken. Rykov also went back home to Russia not only to train for the IIHF and WJC but to visit his family back in St. Petersburg and host a clinic for the SKA youth program. At this point Alexei is excited to see what the IIHF and WJC tournaments provide and that he can help Team Russia once again make a run for medals in both.

Oh baby, thank you so much to the Simulation Hockey League for giving me the ability to have an all-expenses paid trip to Edmonton, Alberta or Hamilton, Ontario. Both one of the top murder cities in all of the beautiful country of Canada. Unfortunately, this year I am actually playing in the games so I cannot go crazy and go to all the cool bars that Edmonton offers. Instead, I will be going to some Edmonton Oilers games to see the lightning fast speed of Connor McDavid to try and emulate what he does on the ice against the Edmonton Blizzard. I will also try and see if I can make it out to some of the cool monuments in the Edmonton area, and maybe I will go to a bar to get a drink and run into some of my idols in downtown area. In Hamilton I already get everything paid for since I am such a big deal so I have no need to do anything there.

Sigh, in an alternate reality the Challenge Cup Finals would go vastly different. The Tampa Bay Barracuda would have reverse swept the Buffalo Stampede, and they would have went on to dismantle the surging Hamilton Steelhawks in a close fought 7 game series, but the Chicago Syndicate would have beat the Manhattan Rage easily and then took down the Barracuda to make the Challenge Cup Finals for the first time in their history. On the other side, the Specters avoided a collapse in the post-season and went on to sweep every team on their way to the Challenge Cup Finals. In the finals it has been a tough matchup so far with both teams going neck and neck with each other. Neither of the expansion teams want to lose and it is evident in the hard hitting, defensive games they have both been playing, as the final scores of most games have been by one goal and very low scoring.

The two finals teams have decided to team up for a fundraising opportunity to benefit both cities. What noble cause will the teams decide to benefit? What sort of fundraiser will the teams hold together? How will the two teams mesh before the finals start?

Fundraising opportunities are always a fantastic way to get teams in the Simulation Hockey League further exposure in the public markets. I have heard from numerous sources that individuals in the capital markets have also had ideas to allow teams to sell to the public to introduce further funds that can be used to bolster the team, however, it has been met with severe anti-competition legislatures by the league and the political domain. The league should hold a charity game fundraiser which would bring a lot of the crowd out to see how the players interact in a non-game situation. This also allows the team to mesh as they will be mixed on the teams so Steelhawks players will be playing with Blizzard players and they will be able to gain some chemistry and build friendships along the way. The team decides to fundraise for the Ronald McDonald House as this was something that is near and dear to the hearts of many players on both teams.

The management of the Hamilton Steelhawks have requested that I play on the top line of the forward group for our first game in the Challenge Cup Finals of the fifty-first season of the Simulation Hockey League. This would have meant that I had played all 3 positions in the Challenge Cup Finals during my tenure in the league dating back to the early S20’s when I was a goalie for the Texas Renegades. My player build will allow me to succeed in this role as I have very high passing, skating and strong offensive awareness which allows me to seek the open spaces in the offensive zone, and get the puck to my team mates, while creating opportunities that just opens the game up. Think of it like Johnny Gaudreau if he was 10 inches taller and had another 150 pounds on him, but I have the same speed and skills as he does. Just a monster of a player that can also demolish opponents in the offensive zone, might as well just give me the playoff MVP already

Well having just won the Challenge Cup, I think I will be doing a lot of partying for the first half of the offseason, think of how Alexander Ovechkin partied when the Washington Capitals won the cup, that is something I would mimic and enjoy thoroughly. After getting through my party phase, it would be getting right back to the gym and working hard to retain the title for next season, I was happy with my effort last year and was rewarded on the ice throughout the playoffs and the regular season so I want to build upon that and create a phenomenal player that can excel on both sides of the ice and just be the best defenseman I can be. I am also going into a contract year, so if I want to garner something close to my old contract I need to be at the best of my game and show the team I deserve to earn top dollars in this league.

As the finals between the Edmonton Blizzard and the Hamilton Steelhawks was decided, the two teams were contacted about doing a fundraising night. None of the teams would budge on the location though, becasue obviously you want it in your own city. After a full day of negotiations the teams finally decided on taking the middle road, doing it in between, in Winnipeg. The Winnipeg Jets were nice enough to offer the two teams their arena to have their practices during the days they were in town. This however was before the Winnipeg organization was notified on the theme. The theme wasn't decided beforehand, but both teams were unified in their decision. "Relocate the Winnipeg Jets". With the GM change, voices has been raised in unity, the team needs to change their identity. This fundraiser was not only to help them with the economic side of the switch, but also as a think-tank. All the visitors got to leave their identity preference and hopefully the Winnipeg organization finds something they like.

This is kind of weird. I woke up this morning by a phone call from my SHL GM. It was just a normal morning in Lethbridge where i play as a defenseman in the Lethbridge Lions. "Hey Disisde, Niclas Wastlund here. We've got some roster issues here in LA and we would really love it if you could hop on a flight as soon as possible to join us for tomorrows game against the Chicago Syndicate." My SHL debut, wow. Just thinking about it sent a tingle through my body. I didn't really need any time to wake up, as i could never fall asleep again after a call like that. I got on the plane at 11am and landed in LA to find Hiro Fujikawa waiting for me. Of course they sent the japanese to meet me up. We got my gear and went straight to the arena, i should've known something was up when Hiro laughed (in japanese) when i said i needed my gear. In the Locker room they had already put my name up at a seat next to Hiro. But something was wrong, there was already gear there. And it was goalie gear. I asked in very bad english "Wat is dis?". "This is your gear, put it on.

Am i a goalie now?

I'm definitely looking forward to get some rest. I played my heart, body and soul out this season and had a good season, 7th in points amongst defensemen, which was one of my goals. My goal was of course to win the scoring race but with the competition not only in this league, but also this Lethbridge team, if you're 7th in the league amongst defensemen and still only 3rd on the team, that is saying a lot about the capabilities of my fellow lions. One thing we're not great at is the physical game though, which is what i will focus on during my off-season training. We've left the hits to the forwards for far too long, that needs to change. My blocking abilities is another thing i'd like to improve, i averaged just under 1 block per game, but the top 10 starts at 63. So it'll be a good mix of resting and just pounding bodies and standing in front of whoever wants to shoot pucks at me.

I've always liked Hugh Jazz. He was in the draft class before me and is already putting up numbers in the SHL. Sure it's not Mika Kadinsky record breaking ROTY numbers, but i can still see the potential in this young, good looking lad before me, his 47 points were like 20 points more than the next rookie, so he was dominant for sure. I am sure that he will compete for the Jeff Dar for best two-way forward in the future, as he's got a good amount of hits for his TPE level too. So not only do i think he'll win the Jester this season, as well as the cup, he'll probably get a fair amount of hardware in his career.

Choosing a MVP without the updated index is kinda hard, but what the skater stats are doesn't really matter when you have a guy like Geezus Kryyst in net. After 9 games he had 8 wins and a crazy .934 percentage, as well as a 2.22 GAA. 1 shutout is still great, even if others had more. I can't imagine any skater stat beating him out for MVP. I didn't follow the finals too much but i know they only lost 1 game, and i doubt that it put too much of a dent in the wall that is Geezus Kryyst.

After beating the Panthers in the Western Conference Finals, Thomas Bathory was one of numerous players from around the SHL that the Blizzard brought in to show support against the roided out Hamilton Steelhawks. There has been an uproar around the league questioning the ethics of the Steelhawks training habits as of late and players from around the league filled the Blizards stadium to protest the issue. Bathory doesn't care that much about the whole thing but the trip was paid in full and Thomas figured it would be a great opportunity to catch up with players from around the SHL. Edmonton is a cold place so naturally Bathory went on a snowboarding trip while he was in town and filmed a black metal music video out in the forest. Unnaturally, Bathory paddled out a surfboard in his swimming trunks on a near frozen river. There were no waves obviously but he spent about 3 hours out there to the shock of the locals.

Thomas Bathory is happy to get a break and unwind a bit this offseason. The SHL schedule can be grueling at times, one night you're in South Florida followed by a quick trip across the continent to Edmonton. Bathory will be spending most of his offseason back in Los Angeles. Thomas is dedicating himself to improving on the ice after a lackluster start to his professional career. He'll be training with a number of the Panthers up and coming players such as Theo Morgan, Simon LeBlanc, Vorian Atriedes, Knox Booth, Elijah Jones, Tony Ford, & Oliver Cleary. The Panthers future appears very promising. With so many players still improving their games and just now entering into their primes, Los Angeles hopes that the hard work during the offseason will eventually be what brings the Challenge Cup back to LA. Bathory also intends to get to know some of the new additions to the team such as Mikhail Loktionov and Bobby Watson, two players who have proven that they are elite SHL talents. Thomas will spend most of his downtime at the beach surfing and in his music studio recording. Thomas is hoping to release a solo album hes been working on titled "Scream of the Angels".

Tom Fiddler is going to games 1 and 2 for sure. Mostly because you cant miss an opportunity to see the opening games, to really feel that energy right out of the gate. For another reason, I just wanna know what the west of canada looks like. Maybe after the games, I'll fly over to Banff national park, it seems like an amazing place. Might as well tour calgary while I'm there. But more specifically, I'm getting to edmonton, hitting up all the clubs because I am an SHL superstar now and they better pop some campaign for me. I don't have to play, so i can drink all I want. Maybe I'll see some Kraken there, and we'll go hog wild on some buffets. Im glad we have a hotel but I feel like I should almost never use it. Maybe Ill sleep in the streets, strung out and burned out.

In this new alternate reality, Tom Fiddler has plenty of money and keeps up on his player progression. He has 3000 TPE already and plays for Buffalo. It's this little extra bump that makes the big difference between playoff success and not. So now the Buffalos are in the challenge cup. Also in this new reality, there is no exploit, so a high passing player is perfectly useful and Hamilton is not in the finals. San Jose is in the finals instead because I just picked them at random. its an alternate reality after all. Tom Fiddler has the best performance of any center in the playoffs, because its an alternate reality where he is good. He records 16 goals and 32 assists in 16 games as the Buffalos sweep their way to the challenge cup. His name and his name alone graces the cup for this year, for everyone knows that he is truly the winner and no one else.

Tom Fiddler is being asked to play defense in lieu of many injuries plaguing the kraken. Tom Fiddler has 82 defense and 80 passing. While its not strictly meta, his solid positioning should help him defend against oncoming attackers. 82 is excessively high for the juniors as well. 80 passing allows him to move the puck well while attacking and helps break out of the zone. Passing is great defensively because, as opposed to shooting, you cant really shoot from your own end. His skating is between his passing and shooting, which allows him to move the puck well in and out of the defensive zone. One source of difficulty is his shot, which is only 70. Some good defenseman have a great shot that lets them put pucks on net. Some would argue that in order to be a good offensive defenseman, you need great shooting abilities to keep the puck on net. But Tom would rather make a pass. His Puck handling is tremendous for a defenseman, usually a skill you see reserved for forwards. This allows him to hold the line and fight off opposing forwards trying to stop his attack.

It's his 3rd off season going into his final year of the juniors. he's fallen a bit behind, but should be perfectly serviceable next season if not this season for some SHL time. Beyond training, he's looking forward to spending some time with the boys before we all ship out to different teams. Phineas Gold, Bobby Lane, Ricky Bobby, Alexei Rykov, Joseph Weston, Michael Fitted, and others. It's been a stellar 3 years filled with some amazing success and some let downs. So they will obviously go hiking in the mountains, someone will break an ankle, and they will try to take a shortcut through the woods only to start a descent into horror and madness. This is basically exactly what happens in the movie The Ritual, except that one was in sweden and this one will be in the appalachian mountains. So instead of ageless vikings, they come across meth heads and mountain folk.

The Carolina Kraken have a new flavor of doritos: Seafood. This is a popular flavor in east asian countries. It tastes a little sweet, almost like syrup. It's a cheap imitation of the classic seafood flavor, but its delicious enough that no one should care. Doritos are supposed to be like nachos or some shit, but they just taste like...doritos. The bag is of course orange, with the image of a Kraken wrapping its tentacles around one chip while cracking another in half. The slogan is "Carolina Kraken chips: Put them in your mouth!" They will sell like hot cakes.

In the alternate reality we are going to look at, Hamilton did not try and break the sim engine. Upon realizing they are still a shit team that needed to make something big happen, they fold and their players all retire. Hamilton is relocated to Montreal as the SMJHL expansion teased by HO earlier in the season. With the exact same amount of competition in the East, everything plays out as it would and Manhattan sits 1st place in the conference, making it to the CC finals. The western conference plays out exactly the same as it would have if Hamilton wasn't a team anymore because the West fucks and the East are just virgins who rely on attending 6th grade sex ed classes for their source of knowledge about the female orgasm. In the CC finals, Edmonton wins in 4 games because the East is inferior to any western conference team in this reality

Pretend that your team has hit an injury bug - the roster is so depleted that your coach is asking you to play out of position. What position is your coach asking you to play and what about your player build will help you be successful in this new role?

The LA Panthers all suffered freak wrist injuries at their annual soggy cookie tournament. Unfortunately this meant that Creller needed to be called up early in order to fill a roster spot. What he didn't know was that he was filling every position on the team as no one else was able to hold their hockey sticks. Crellers ability to control the puck allows him to keep the puck away from the opposition as he tries to eat up 60 minutes of playtime every game, while his body checking ability allows him to stay solid in the nets as he body checks slapshots out of mid air. His only downfall is he is a terrible shot, forcing him to attempt to pass the puck into the opponents net. He can put some sauce on it, but it's still not enough to score a goal, so he ends up losing every game by being kept of the scoresheet, but he tries hard

The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know!

Creller was looking forward to being called up to the SHL next season, but with the Panthers moves throughout the season and offseason, it looks like he will be staying in the SMJHL one more season. So after putting as much time as he could into the gym, he will be entering S52 with the Kraken at the top of his game and ready to become the points leader in the J. The offseason is always a boring time for players returning to the SMJHL, all the PT's and TPE earned cannot be used until they enter the SHL, so it's forces them to be patient, which is not the easiest thing to do. Staying active during the offseason can be difficult, but Creller enjoys his time off between seasons, allowing him to take a break from the league and relax. Once pre-season starts, things become busy and Creller can see how much progress he made.

There is one way that is sure to bring fans back to the SHL. Cheerleaders who give out free beer. Hockey has always been known as a male dominant sport, like Football, and they have cheerleaders, and their stadiums are packed every game. Something about their system works, so let's hone in on the fact they have scantily clad women prancing about doing choreographed moves and taking fan pictures. These women are the backbone of franchises and show tremendous pride in their team, and do so much good for their communities, why not bring that atmosphere to the SHL. The free beer is just an added bonus to this scheme, because everyone loves free things, especially free beer. Give fans their first beer free and once they get a taste, they will be going back for at least one more for the remainder of each game. Boobs and beer, marketing genius.

In an alternate reality called 'Land of the Smebs' we would see the lone Smeb, Chico Smeb take on all his brothers in Chicago, there's like 4 or 5 Smebs on Chicago so it'd be a huge match up for all the Smebs. Chico on Calgary is the only Smeb to win a challenge cup so far, so he has that going for him. In this Smeb reality we would see Calgary beat Edmonton, then go on to beat LA in the conference finals in the West. Chicago would run the table in the East en route to the S51 cup finals. It'd be a good match up going to game 7. Parker Smeb would score late in the 3rd period for Chicago to force overtime. Then Chico Smeb on Calgary would unleash a howitzer from the point, deflecting off every other member of the Smeb family and finding it's way into the back of the net for the overtime cup winning goal! Chico Smeb reigns supreme. @xDParK @O4L [167 words]

Injuries happen in life but not SHL which is great, but in this case if Calgary was faced with an injury in net the natural replacement would be Esa Parmborg because he's 7'0" tall and weighs 350 pounds. He would take up virtually the entire net and wouldn't need much skill to stop the puck. He would just wallow like a walrus and swing his limbs around when needed. With that huge frame there's no question he'd be successful in goal for the Dragons. I don't think any particular skills as a forward necessarily translate to playing goal, but Parmborg does have 95 Defense and that's a strength of his game so he'd be able to read the play well and his defensive IQ could help him in goal. He also has a high pass rating and could help with break out passes, that is if he could get up of the ice, which at 350 pounds remains to be seen. [161 words]

The off-season is a time to relax and rejuvenate yourself after a long grueling season. Esa Parmborg is a large man and 50 games plus travel takes a toll on his body. He plans on doing nothing but relaxing and eating during the off-season. He would book a special massage therapist from the local womens college of massage to come and rub him down daily and keep his appendages loose. He'd tip her with chicken parm that he has delivered daily from one of his many restaurants in downtown Calgary. She would be very grateful and probably want to move in afterwards with all her college friends. Parmborg would spend his days relaxing, getting limber and fattening himself up for the season. He plans to also play some new video games he got for christmas and maybe take a nap. It's a hard life being an SHL superstar but Esa Parmborg knows how to stay relaxed and preserve his energy for the upcoming season. [164 words]

I took a long nap it was stupendous
What HAM did to the league was horrendous
But what can you do so here we all sit
I wish Kate Upton would show me a tit
Moving forward I have moderate hope
But that's mostly because I smoked some dope
Not lots and lots just enough to feel good
I used an old pipe made out of birch wood
Let's be nice and hope the league can stay strong
Maybe I should have used my old glass bong
It matters to us not what's done is done
Now everyone please start having some fun
