I am under the firm belief that NO ONE in this entire league has let their team down more than Cainer. Let's look at some numbers. NOLA has 7 seasons in the books, 7 post-seasons. That's pretty cool. Of those 7 postseasons, 5 of them ended in a pivotal game 7. Cain has had some ups and downs in the playoffs but overall his save percentage numbers aren't bad: S46- .904 S47- .897 s48- .912 S49- .893 S50- .879 S51- .895 S52- .919 Career average- .899 It's not amazing but by SHL standards it's not an absolute sieve. some tough series like s50 against the dragons absolutely tanked his save percentage. Now, just for fun, lets look at Game 7 save percentages: S46 game 7- .865 S47 game 7- .871 S48 game 7- .839 S49 game 7- .889 S50- lost in 4 S51- lost in 5 S52 game 7- .857 Game 7 average- .864 Ouch. So when the team needs him most, when everything they have fought for is on the line, Cain drops more than .3 in save percentage. At what point can the fingers be solely pointed at him for choking away great seasons from a dominant expansion team? I'd start at s46. If this performance is not corrected Cain will retire with exactly 0 cups, and likely no individual awards either, but that's an article for another day.
