Buffalo Stampede Arch btw
1. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.)
Are you kidding me? His name IS Rintarou Okabe! Mad scientist! El Psy Congru!!!!!!! However, he has been to many many timelines over his lifespan each one more different than the next. Surprisingly the one true reality that got him was the one where he lifted the Challenge Cup in every single final. Buffalo Stampede made the playoffs every season with a perfect 50-0 and would face Texas in every final. With the same result, a sweep. Things became very boring for Okabe, he stayed for 3 more seasons and won 3 more MVPs. He then decided that he could now do this anymore as he knew the dangers of timeline jumping (Let's just say love ones die). After 43 years of bouncing back he returned to his normal timeline at the prime age of 19 once again where things are very random and no one knows who will really win the cup. [153 words] 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) After talking it over with my team and disagreeing with them wholeheartedly I decided that I will pour all my efforts into the stickchecking statistic and I will not stop until its at 20. My player will be the ultimate stickchecker in SHL history. He probably won't be able to recover the puck but damn will he be able to lift that stick over and over and over. I am picking this specific attribute because I feel I can piss people off when they think they have the puck I will just skate in and lift their stick with so much ease it's like pushing your hand through a puddle of water. [112 words] 4. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Rintarou Okabe and the Newfoundland Berserkers suffered a crippling loss in the SMJHL Playoffs. But instead of going back in time to change the future he has decided enough was enough and he will let the timelines rest for the time being. Okabe played his last season in the SMJHL this year and is currently awaiting to make his regular season debut for the Buffalo Stampeders, however he is also a UFA, with no contract offer thus far. Okabe's fate seems unknown for the time being but he has been training hard to show teams that he can play at the top level. Okabe is hoping for a contract renewal in the future but he is unsure if one will be given. Okabe has been grinding hard in the gym and has signed up for some independent camps help by former SHL and NHL players. When questioned he refused to answer anything and looked determined to hold out on media until a contract is signed. [165 words] 6. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) I think this is a great idea for the players as they also get to have more rest and not have to fly back and forth to the games. However for the fans they will ultimately pay the biggest price because some fans probably do not have passports to travel and/or are too young to travel alone. On top of all that fans will now have to pay for hotels and other concessions because they cannot go home at the end of the day. The cities of the teams will also suffer due to losing out on ticket sells at potentially one of if not the biggest moments in SHL history annually. So I think the cons deeply outweigh the pros so I am against this idea. [127 words] 7. Written, 1-2 TPE Limerick #1 There was a goalie named Evok Who downloaded the app called TikTok There she danced Then she pranced Now she just plays with a rock Limerick #2 There was a team named Stampede Who said there was no way we'd concede Then they got rocked Even got socked Now they can barely succeed 14. Manhattan has been rocking a pretty evenly-distributed ice time for forwards (35-33-32) whereas San Francisco is going a bit more top-heavy (40-40-15). Which approach do you think is better for a fierce Challenge Cup series? I think neither approach makes a difference simply because of the fact we are still using STHS. Everyone knows by now after you put your endurance to 60 you are basically super human who has an adept ability to skate for 60 minutes a game. However if I were to guess, San Fran has the edge with this approach because they now play 2 of top lines more frequently than the rage which means their higher rated shooters get more time and opportunity to score much important goals in the series. First on his list of " things to do " is sign with a new Agent. While his lat agent , Peter Dogood, has done a lot for Goodman, He is now apparently going to sign with Walter Hobbs, The same Hobbs that has been his Goalie Coach the last 3 seasons. After that, it's two weeks of fun in the sun Dominican Republic followed by training. With the unknown of whether there will be a call up to Texas or not, Training will be done in Turin Italy until the news comes through in about a month. For me, I want to focus on being very gifted offensivly, focusing on skills like Offensive Read, Getting Open, and Shooting Accuracy. Having this much of a high TPE I can be allowed to be at the top of the moutain in terms of what I can invest TPE into, making me fast, and lethal in the offensive zone, while also having enough TPE to be defensibly sound. I will have getting open and shooting accuracy at 18, and offensive read at 20, in order to have the best chance possible to help my team be as good as they can be. I will also have things like speed, stamina, and other physicial skills up so my overall speed is up Code: 5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) I would say that it would be Peter Larson, the goaltender for the Manhattan Rage I would be on to win a reglaur season individual award, because he is about to be reaching his peak TPE and his maximum potential to win an award. With a great team behind him, and some good defense, he will be someone who will excel in his position as a goaltender, and with him at his best shape, then he will be at the point where he can compete for the awards. It also helps that he is playing amazing in the 4 games so far, and just recorded a 1-0 shutout, so he is playing some of his best hockey at the moment, so he could win an award this season. If one of their top lines are on point, then they are screwed, where if one line of the Rage can afford to have one line not going, and the others will pick up the slack. Also as the games go on, people the top heavier teams will get tired, losing their edge, where Manhattans top players can afford to take some more time. 3. Well the Manhattan Rage logo is a lot better than the "weak" San Franscisco Prides logo. Who needs a lion when you can have a RAGIN bull, with the skyline of new york city inside the bull. Also Red and White are always some great color schemes, which fits with Manhattan and what their identity is. 4. I would say my favorite Player on the Rage is Infidel, aka Barret McCarthy. If terms of the user, Infidel has been a great friend of mine on the site, and have been apart of my management cirlce for the past like 6 seasons he has been a great advisor and coach for when I was in Vancouver and Manhattan 5. Well, the parallel world that I would want to be in, is one where Toronto doesn't get swept in the first round to Buffalo after a great article came out saying that Toronto really had a fighting chance to get the first round win. In this parallel universe, Toronto takes Buffalo to game 7 and Mika Kandinsky feeds Bobby Lane a one timer in double OT for the win. This gives Toronto an insane amount of confidence and momentum. Harry Carpet goes on a tear, playing the best hockey of his young career, and Mika, along with the rookies, get it done on offense just enough to take them all the way to a Challenge Cup. Now, this would be no easy feat. There would be multiple game seven series along the way and it often times wouldn't be pretty. But Toronto would make a 3-1 series deficit into a win to take down the San Francisco Pride in the finals. Code: 4. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) There is so much to be looking forward to this offseason in the SHL. The big switch over to FHM is a big deal and I’m really excited about it. This change has potential to really shake up the league. Sure, the guys with the most TPE will still be good as long as they don’t completely ruin their builds by picking bad stats, but for the most part we expect the high end players to stay high end. But who knows, maybe there will be a few surprises there. I think, the performance of the teams are going to change a lot as it seems there will be all new strategies and things will be much more in depth. This is very exciting. On top of the big change to FHM, I’m excited for the draft as always and to see what new talent comes up to Toronto in the offseason to help us out for next year. It’s pretty exciting times for the team and I’m really looking forward to playing with another crop of rookies this season! Code: 2. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) I know pretty much nothing about sports gambling so whoever made the choice to put me in charge of this was crazy. That being said, I’m putting the lowest odds on Tampa Bay to win the Challenge Cup next season. They seem to be a team that is having trouble putting it all together and I feel like their struggles will continue for a little bit in the early goings of the FHM era. It’s pretty hard to predict who will end up on the bottom from season to season. As we saw this season, Toronto made it to the playoffs when most people had them pegged for dead last. So who knows, but I’m in charge, so lowest odds go to Tampa Bay. I think the highest odds will go to New England Wolfpack. Maybe that’s crazy because they didn’t make the playoffs this year, but it just came out that their team has the highest average TPE out of everyone in the league and my bet is that going into FHM next season, this will matter a great deal and you’ll see a pretty big performance increase for the team. Code: 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) For me, I think the stat I’m going to get the highest out of every stat in FHM is going to be Offensive Read. The reason for this is that all offense is based off of this stat. You can have the best, hardest, most accurate shot in the league, but if you have no idea what’s going on once you cross the blueline, you’ll never be able to get into an opportunity where you can use the shot you have. While I am going to be a two way forward, Mika’s always leaned towards an offensive goal scorer above being strictly defensive. So my offensive read stat will definitely be higher than defensive read at my peak. I think with a high offensive read, I’ll be a smarter player in the offensive zone and therefore create more offense for me and my team. Code: 8. Written/Graphic, 3 TPE (150 words min. for written option) The Manhattan Rage really want to pack the house for their final series against the San Francisco Pride, so the marketing team put their heads together and decided they needed a new drink to sell at all concession stands. The Raging Bull, is their new drink. Based on the movie by the same name, the drink is grey and black. It’s also full of Jagrmeister, Guinness, and amphetamines. This drink will fuck you up. And that’s the idea. They want their fans going absolutely nuts in the stands. They will be raging at the other team so hard, the Pride will be way off their game. It’s going to be a huge party and these drinks will have a special sale. If you wear a Rage jersey to the game, you get the drink for only $6.50. This is bound to draw in huge crowds so people can get crunked on a team and cinema based theme drink. Code: 7. In an alternate reality, that is very much different from the one that is present right now, we would have a completely different playoff outcome. The panthers will emerge victorious against the dragons in a hard fought out game 7, the stampede will advance blowing out Toronto once again. In the west, Panthers will overcome Pride in 6 games as well as the blizzard beating the specters. In the east, we will have the stampede once again blowing out the steelhawks as they are no longer allowed to use their loophole. Syndicate will also advance over manhattan. Now heading into the semi's, the panthers will once again do the unthinkable and beat the blizzard in a hard fought out game 7 once again. In the east, the stampede will continue to blow out their opponents, this time being the syndicates. Then we arrive at the showdown of the challenge cup finals. A totally different finals from the one we have right now where the Panthers will face against the Stampede. A fight between a the agile panthers and the heavy loaded buffaloes. GM wastlund of the Panthers has gone to the finals many times but is keen on securing the challenge cup once and for all this season. On the other side, we have GM Wannabefinn, who has already seen the cup twice in his reign. THe Stampede clearly have the experience over the panthers when it comes to securing the cup and will take it at their pace. The games were tight with them alternating in wins between each team and we finally head to game 7. Phillip Winter posted an excellent game scoring 4 points and was hailed the playoff MVP. Afterall he did bring the panthers their first challenge cup in so long. 2. As we are moving to a different sim engine next season, it really is hard to predict what the heck is going to happen. Who knows, since everyone is new at this, Toronto may even have a chance with how fickle the sim engines are. But judging based on tpe, i would give the highest odds of winning the challenge cup to New England Wolfpack from the east and Calgary Dragons from the West. The lowest odds are obviously Toronto North Stars as they are sitting way at the bottom. As we are moving to FHM, it seems like you will need a whole lot of tpe to be on the top end of the league in terms of production and thus, this is why i based my predictions solely on tpe. If someone does however tries to find a loophole in FHM such as a overpowered tactic or something, this may very well change the odds. So for example it is not impossible for the Northstars to win the Cup. 3. As we are moving to FHM, i did a little analysis myself to see what type of player i wanted to create. Since I am a defenseman, i chose three defenseman, I can model my player after in terms of the points production. From the list i was provided, Brent Burns, Mark Giordanno and John Carlson had the highest production. Two of these three were two-way defenseman and thus i decided I should go for that archetype if I wanted to make an impact in the league. The person that intrigued me the most was Brent Burns. The man is a beast in real life and I like his two way game. So based on his player model, he had Passing, Puckhanding, stamina and balance as the highest attributes. As a result, if there is one attribute i would focus most on, it will definitely be puckhandling. It seems that this attribute affects the effectiveness of the player. A good puck moving defenseman can also position himself well and that is why i believe this should be focused on most. THis attribute may be like defense in SHL, which is important for the effectiveness of a player. While I focus on puckhandling, if there was a thing my player will be known for, it will be passing. As a result I will also max out his passing so i can dish out many assists to my teammates. I will focus on this because this well help overall team production. 4. During this offseason, Zlatan will head towards Winnipeg. Unlike last season, where he went back to his hometown in Sweden, Zlatan realizes he has a lot of work to do as he will be playing in the SHL for the first time, since being drafted by the Jets. Renowned for being one of the best prospects of his draft, Zlatan will be doing heavy training to prove his position in the organization. He understands that he will only get few minutes initially, but this will soon change as he continues to maintain his worth ethic. Ibra Jr., is the type of player that becomes better with difficult scenarios. Thus, this will be a great challenge and obstacle for him to overcome. Zlatan will be working more on his offensive game this time around as he wants to be more well rounded. He is already a beast in the defensive end, thus he is looking to dish out some assists to his teammates to improve team efficiency. Zlatan will also meet his new teammates in Winnipeg and get used to their organization. This is going to be one of the toughest offseasons for Zlatan but he is more than ready to face any challenges that may emerge. 5. If i had to pick one player from either the Rage or Pride that will win a regular season award in the future, it will definitely be Luka Thomason of Manhattan Rage. The dude is a complete monster and has all it takes to be a beast. The award that he will most likely win in the future is the Jef Dar trophy for best two-way player. He had 53 points this regular season and also amassed 143 hits. THe only player that i will see is arguably ahead of him is Philip Winter from the Panthers who had hell of a season. Luke Thomason also had 24 goals and 29 assists. As you can see, he isn't a one dimensional player as he is able to score and make assists. Luke is also a hardworker and has all the pedigree he needs to attain that award. He is also almost at 1900 TPE, which is phenomenal. 6. While global warming is a significant problem we are facing right now, I do not see how this can be a solution to reduce the carbon foot prints. The players and everyone associated with the team will still need to travel to the host country. This can be expensive for both times as it will result in flight fare. On top of that imagine the fans that want to watch their home teams. They will definitely travel, be it car or airplane. This requires fuel which is a source of pollution. Not only that but it will also cost a lot of money. Another disadvantage would be that fans will not truly be able to enjoy the game. The feeling of watching your team at your hometown is much better.

While I'm not sure I would really want to endorse an alternate reality, I believe there is one where an even better Challenge Cup Finals match-up exists. I believe in a reality in which we have the Manhattan Rage against the Edmonton Blizzard in what is the greatest moral challenge in Jakub Aittokallio's career. He leads a team he built from scratch to challenge the team who gave him his home, his fame and his fortune. San Francisco may be the cosmic challenger to the Rage this season, showing this was meant to be as they entered their rebuilds at the same time with a focus on ten seasons prior and now hitting their primes exactly. It's also a team who the Rage often gain from, including Luke Thomason and Luca Veccelli being former Pride draftees now major contributors on the Rage. However, for me personally, only the challenge of facing Edmonton can ever be the ultimate ending. Maybe one day, we'll manage to meet. But in that alternate universe, it's the best internal struggle of my career, and something where I think it ends in seven games -- obviously, in favor of the Rage. Quote:Word Count: 194 Quote:2. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Typically, at this stage you start with who's there. However, with the great variety coming into play for next season, it's going to be difficult to make odds. What I would say is the top odds go to New England, actually. As much as that pains me to say. New England will have the best player in the league for next season in terms of TPE, with Ola Wagstrom being the complete package and only person capable of building an above and beyond superstar. They also added one of the best defensemen in the league in Rex Kirkby recently. Ultimately, the team is primed to compete. They only miss the goaltender, which can sink a team. However, before anything gets started, having two of the best players in their positions is a great place to be to start things off. As for the worst odds, it's pretty obviously Toronto. They sit in a difficult division and conference where just making the playoffs is going to be hard. Meanwhile, their defense is patchwork at best, and while they have good goaltending and a few great forwards, they're top heavy at best. They can steal games, but they have no chance of making the playoffs all things considered. Quote:Word Count: 206 Quote:3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Having read up on the strategies in the sim, we're focusing on something that will utilize our strength down the middle with Luke and myself. In order to best utilize a center-driven strategy, we need to focus in on skating and puck handling. I'll be putting a lot into Offensive and Defensive Read so my player has a great in depth understanding of reading the play and reacting properly, as well as Getting Open so he can drive our success. However, the keys will be in things like speed, puck handling and acceleration. The hope is thanks to this, we'll be able to drive play directly up the middle and take to the zone quickly. We're going to be a transition team, and so developing that transition offense as well as highlighting what we need to succeed around a very physical and strong team is going to be paramount for me. Quote:Word Count: 151 Quote:4. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) This is the longest Jax has made it into the playoffs, the latest he's played in his career. It's also the season he's feeling his absolute best, and expects to see a bit of a slow down in the coming seasons. Due to this, he's going to have to focus on rehabilitation for his training instead. I won't be doing a lot of heavy training with big weights or anything anymore. I'm going to build on my strengths and rehabilitate the injuries I get from a long, long season. It's hard to come back from playing deep into June and be ready to play by September or October, but I feel I'm just young enough to pull it together in time. It's just the focus that I need ultimately on keeping my muscles working without causing any degradation or tearing. This is the hardest part of every player's career, getting older and having to adjust, but it's something I've hired people to help with and I have faith I can do. Quote:Word Count: 171 Quote:5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) This feels pretty obvious to me for this season alone. Peter Larson is still a few seasons from regressing and has set himself apart as the best goaltender in the SHL. Beyond that, Barret McCarthy has been nominated for the Stevens Trophy once before and seems in line to do it again. He's primed to eventually take the trophy if not this season then in the near future as he continues his ascent. Luke Thomason is absolutely in line to challenge for the Ron Mexico Trophy at some point, and we have multiple players like Austin Roenick or Phineas Gold who could be Jay McDonald Trophy winners. The most interesting and difficult ones to call, however, will be that David Kastrba should be in line for a Jeff Dar Trophy at some point as FHM gives us more information on defensive play, and similarly I'd bet on Reginald MacIntyre or Andrej Doskocil to take a Bojo Biscuit Trophy or two. The most likely is Larson, as he continues to set himself apart in the league and is helped by an absolutely incredible defense. However, we have a whole team that has the ability to take it eventually. Quote:Word Count: 197 Quote:17. 1. This reality is just one of infinite realities existing alongside this one in parallel. Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S52 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there?
I'd have to think of one that's sadder than this one for me, personally. Let's rewind to the Eastern Conference semifinals, where after four games, the Chicago Butchers are up 3 games to 1 on the Manhattan Rage. Let's say the Butchers put this one to bed in 5 and not even flirt with a three-game collapse. They, instead of the Rage, face the Buffalo Stampede, and it goes the full series length to 7. They build a 3-1 lead then, and have a minor two-game collapse to put them in their first elimination game. Unfortunately, the hammer comes due, and the Stampede go back to the Finals. Because the miracle never happened in the East, SimonT decides none shall happen out in the West, either. The Specters take Game 7 out West, and we are now looking at another Buffalo vs New Orleans championship. Yeah, that would be a fun way to round out the SimonT epoch - a rehash of a recent title bout. Sounds about as fun as Wilder-Fury III five months after they just had a fight that was stopped in round 7. 4. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know! My player is going to be on the training grind for most of the offseason, and especially come IIHF time, win or lose in the Challenge Cup. At this point, he still has the postseason to think about. At the time of writing, he has to win one more game to get to the offseason victorious. Age is starting to take its toll, and any boost will help him not just survive longer, but thrive longer, especially with the transition into the unknowns of FHM. A victorious return to Inverness before IIHF would be great. For now, the offseason is far from his mind. Free agency has never been on the cards for McIntyre. Manhattan is home. It will be home for as long as they want to keep signing him up for contracts. It will probably be home when he someday finally has to hang up his skates. There may be some planning for that, though the only market he has an eye for is the one run out of Wall Street. 5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Which player from the Rage or the Pride would you bet on to win a regular season individual award in a future season? What player and what award? What makes you think they'll live up to their potential and take home the hardware? I'd put money down on Peter Larson winning the John McBride. I'd have to look for this season. For a future season, that beast of a man in net has done wonders for the Rage in the Challenge Cup Finals. Goals allowed of 2, 2, 1, and 0 across the four games so far, and standing on his head for a legendary Game 4 performance was the stuff kids emulate. Granted, SFP's penalties helped, though it's no small thing to stay cool with the biggest spotlight in sim hockey melting your crease. In a clash of excellent goalies in these Finals, Larson has been better. 6. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) The SHL is taking a stand and trying to do its part in reducing its carbon footprint. One of the proposed ideas is to eliminate back and forth air travel during the Challenge Cup and Four Star Cup finals and instead hold all 4-7 games in one neutral, rotating location a la the Super Bowl. Are you FOR or AGAINST this idea? Why? I'm for this idea. Especially for this Challenge Cup Finals series, going back and forth, coast to coast, New York to San Francisco, and with the two teams not caring much for home ice anyhow, a neutral site series would be great to ease that travel burden. I'm aware the league may not ultimately take this action as fans would be largely stuck in a compromise that doesn't work for either of them. They wait this long for their team to get to the Challenge Cup Finals and they have to go halfway across the country? That would be a major live ticket turn-off. 8. Written/Graphic, 3 TPE (150 words min. for written option) The arenas in San Francisco and New York certainly don't need any gimmicks to get people into the stadium for the series, but the arenas want to make sure they're pulling out all the stops on the big stage. Help the concessions department of one of these two teams develop a new product, with marketing specifically pertaining to this finals series, to be sold at the arena during the finals. Describe the product and the marketing in 150 words or create a promotional poster showing the product, its name, the price, etc. The Manhattan Rage made their first Challenge Cup Finals since Season 38. What I propose is a poster, lining up the players from the championship roster then and doing a side-by-side, or even one on top and the other on bottom, showing how the team has evolved since then. Line up the forwards by line, defensemen by pairing, the goalies by starter/backup, and make for sure the old man, Aittokallio, gets a comparison of his mug then and now. There could also be a version where each modern player has is lined up with or beside the past player they are closest to. It'd be nice to get comparisons of the Aittokallios of old from their playing days vs where they are in management now and with how Jax compares. With how the series has gone, it would make for a great "echoes of the past" memento. This special championship edition poster would be sold for $30. 17. Casual Member Special Sent

In a series of infinite realities not much would change for the playoffs other than it would be Calgary against Manhattan this season. I would then be called up from Carolina and score a goal every shift. Win the whole series and get all the ladies or something. More than likely I would get called up choke, cause chaos, and lead to much lamentation about why you should not call up J people last second. Either way it should be Calgary in the Finals as they have the heart, and it is a great group of guys and I am being a total homer. Overall though I am happy to see Manhattan where they are because at least one part of my damn mock worked out even though I have tried to put Manhattan high repeatedly and they disappointed but not this time. I want to hope karma will make Hamilton suffer and the irony would be delicious as they end the Simon era and lead to the FHM era and suffer heavily for it and that would be delightful. If I had to choose a team I think might be really at an advantage? I would have to go with Manhattan. Luke is a great guy and seems to really have dived heavily into working with FHM and I think he is at an early advantage compared to other GMs. Eventually it should even out but if I had to give the best odds to it is Manhattan and the worst to Hamilton. Code: 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Mostly skating I think will be a huge part of any early builds because without the ability to move properly on the ice not matter how good your offensive or defensive skills it won’t matter if everyone can skate around you a pylon is a pylon after all. I think beyond that it will be a much more offensive build based on getting close to the net and trying to knock the puck in with a very physically aggressive manner and attempting to make an impact as close to the crease as possible where good balance, and defensive skills should help round out a strong forecheck game on top of a high skill game close to the crease. Code: 4. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) The biggest thing will be packing up my apartment in Charlotte and getting ready for the move to Calgary. So that means last mean gorging on southern food and Carolina BBQ and getting a ton of brews with the boys before I head up to the great white north. I will be looking forward to getting back to a cold climate like his native St. Petersburg and is looking forward to seeing what culinary delights Canada will provide him. Then it is going to be finding a place to live and getting acquainted and oriented with the city and eventually visiting the Big Parm and getting on the ice and starting to see how it feels. The biggest thing will be to start training with the team and really getting a feel for my place and hitting the gym as hard as possible. At this point it is about getting my bearings and then really leaning hard into my rookie season in the SHL and making a great impression and proving why I have been worth all this development time which means shaking off some rust from my senior year in the J. Code: 5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) My boy Phineas Gold from the Manhattan Rage with the Jeff Dar Trophy. Phineas has long proven on his time with the Kraken and will prove with the Rage that he is a strong two-way player and a great leader. I can see Phineas putting a ton of effort as he has to the Kraken and he is definitely a top prospect for the team and a I have faith that him and Luke can come up with a way for him to be a dominant force in the SHL especially moving into he FHM era. I look forward to plowing him into the boards but until then I have full faith in my boy!

3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) That's a big if, since I barely knew what attributes there were on STHS, despite years on the site now. But, I remember another league NSHL, where I had a counterattacking forward and was the brother of Piotr Czerkawski - Paweł Czerkawski, who was on only champion team of that league. He wasn't as dominant as I'd hoped, but he certainly brought positive value, that I'll try to replicate in still kind of prime years of Piotr in SHL - the big focus will be physical attributes like speed, agility while being high IQ player with fantastic offensive & defensive reads. He won't be the shooter and remain, pass-first player, I anticipate that I won't be playing C anymore either. 4. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Maybe generic, but I like it now and then since I'm no longer really writing media these days. So the plan is kind of depending on the outcome of this series since if we win I'm most likely gone, otherwise I'd love SFP to get some better returns on 1st rounder they sent for me. And while the free agency has been always underwhelming here I hope with longer offseason and FHM hype around, that TPE should finally matter I hope for more suitors with great pitches, hopefully some good advice how to build my player too, since I don't really have time to do the testing here while being rather interested in getting every possible kind of edge and ensuring my place in HoF - despite rather underwhelming career I feel I might have a shot with 2x 1st team SHL, 2x Jar Dar, MVP nominee, 1x 3rd team SHL - so I just need longevity and some points at this point I feel like. 5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) So many young stars on both teams, really happy to see them growing, as I joined the league back in the S41 they were just about starting their rebuilt, so it's really great to see it pan out with this final sths S52 confrontation that I'm happy to be part of. Anyway, Luke Thomason is one of the brightest stars that you'd expect to win MVP and other related awards at some point in their career. On SFP Bo Kane is a rising star, that just started his SHL journey and with some other potential moves in the future, he should quickly rise through the lines of San Fransisco based teams, which will give him even better shot at future awards. 4. Written, up to 5 TPE Pick up to 5 Challenge Cup-related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words to qualify. 1. Head GMs JayWhy and Grapehead have been GMing for a while, whereas Co GMs Luketd and DaftRaincloud are newer to management - which team's front office staff (including coaches) do you think will provide a strategic edge (lol as if such a thing exists in STHS) in this series? Good call about STHS not having that and being the biggest potato around. Anyway, it's a nice combo and I'm sure they are doing their best to give each team best chance to win the title. I'm about equally famillar with all, maybe a bit better Grape & Luke due to Czechia connection, but I just hope SFP will get that small edge that will push them over the top. 2. Manhattan has been rocking a pretty evenly-distributed ice time for forwards (35-33-32) whereas San Francisco is going a bit more top-heavy (40-40-15). Which approach do you think is better for a fierce Challenge Cup series? I have absolutely no clue, but something 35 33 32 irks me more than nice looking 40 40 15, maybe if they could go 34 33 33 or 34 34 32 instead then it would make more sense, now it's just some irrational jump minus two minus one, Nah, I'm going to favor SFP since that also gives Czerkawski's more minutes and let's win it in all. 4. What is your favorite player name on either of these two teams and why? (not favorite player/user, just focusing on their player name) Let's stop being modest and focus on my own player since I'm really happy with it turned out and gave me plenty to write about compared to some other names I've given player in another sim league - Czerkawski was last good Polish player in SHL so I could make my player at least somewhat like him, it's also not the hardest name to spell out, only downside is that he wasn't given an opportunity to lead his own IIHF nation. 17. Task 1:
In some alternate reality, somewhere across space and time, New Orleans beats the San Francisco Pride in game 7. This would put New Orleans back in the finals where they belong. With Manhattan also in the finals, it proves to be one of the best final series in Simon T history as two GMs try to out smart each other with different lines. Ultimately. it would be New Orleans who finishes on top, tackling the Rage down in 6 games where 4 go to over time. With New Orleans winning the last Challenge Cup in Simon T history, they would forever hold on to that forever as they did it, without a 20 plus point scoring passing gap. In fact, the other reality does not even know that loophole in Simon T's perfect little sim engine exists at all. Most players in that reality rely on one stat and one stat alone. Penalty Shot. [154] Task 3: With FHM coming quickly, I have had a lot of time to really think about how I want to build a player. Up and Down winger was my originally plan. A two way winger who is very good defensively and offensively with a scoring touch. Up and Down is the only one of three in the two way group where scoring is an important attribute over passing. As the season went on though, I have slowly toyed with the idea of being a different player in general. I want to score goals still, sure, but I also want to do something different than the masses. With the possibility moving to center, second time in my SHL career I'd play center, I started thinking of great players who were fun to watch that played the center position. It hit me hard like a train, I want to build a Datsyuk like player. I want to be a thief, no body is safe from my dangles or stick lifts. With a scoring touch on breakaways and a good eye for passes, I think that building like that is best for myself and New Orleans. [192] Task 4: I am looking forward to a longer off season. More time to think about the future of my career and my health in general. The switch to the new engine is very exciting and I have been looking forward to it since it was a possibility. I know Williams will be heading home for the summer to Detroit, FUCK DETROIT, to spend time with family and do a little home town training. Maybe start up a little clinic for young hockey players to attend at no charge. Give back to the community that raised me to be who I am, you know? Towards the end of the break I will head to St Louis to visit the team down there and help out with their training camp and see long time GM, Ryan King, retire and ride off into the sunset. I'll end the off season in New Orleans visiting various jazz and blues bars to get the vibe of the city back into my soul. [166] Task 14: 1. I believe the Rage will have an advantage in the strategic play of the game. No knock on the Pride whatsoever, but JayWhy and Luke are very smart people who know Simon T very well. I could see them having something planned that really rattles the Pride. Of course Grapehead might figure out a way to shut them down. Simon T sucks anyways and needs to go. [67] 2. When it comes to ice time, it could really go either way. The Rage may be even and will have less tired players later in the game, but could be missing out on key opportunities to score on a weaker line. While the Pride running a top heavy strat will have their key players on the ice more, they are risking being tired in the late stages of the game where the endurance might come in handy. [77] 3. Uhhhh, neither? Manhattan is okay I guess. Pride is okay too. Maybe I am just not a fan of the teams enough to appreciate them. If I had to choose one over the other, it would have to be San Francisco's. It just seems cleaner and the colors pop at you more. [52] 5. I would choose the private meet and great with Luke. Gritty is awesome and I know how much of a fan Luke is of him. Just being able to see Luke's face when he meets Gritty would be worth the experience. I can see the look on his face now, he would probably retire from the SHL and live a happy life. [62] Task 17: PM Sent

In another reality you can find one in which the Edmonton Blizzard have made the finals and they find themselves against Hamilton Steelhawks. Yes, it is a repeat of this seasons final. In this reality we can see the Simulation Hockey League truly being just as whiny and pissed off as they usually are. Mainly cause it means I got to a final but more so that Hamilton found a way to make another final which considering they are the least popular team you can imagine the butthurt. I think this would be a fun reality honestly with a lot of salt and honestly the best part of the league is when people are losing their collective shit. It would probably be another good final too but watching the Rage dicked San Fran is also a good reality to me. In that reality Edmonton end up winning that title though, obviously [157 words] Code: 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Bold of you to assume I know what I am doing at all, good sir. It does not exactly matter to me what fancy stats he has as long as he can help Edmonton or whoever out. God forbid I mention them but I genuinely like the Chiefs' logo. Suits the team and colour scheme really well. Dragons, Scarecrows (rip), Whalers and Blizzard should get an honourable mention for having a good logo too. The worst logos are krack head, Texas and Chicago logos. Absolute garbage. [55 words] 4. This reality is just one of infinite realities existing alongside this one in parallel. Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S52 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there? Same shit every year. NOLA sees another game 7 exit after blowing game 6 at home. But what if that one bounce, that one missed pass, didn't go San Fran's way? 18:56 into the second period... Williams takes it across the blue line, looks for an option but Schieck is stepping up. Dumps around the boards. Picked up by Moyer.. BOOM. Huge hit by Manius. He grabs it and sends it so Serpe. Serpe shoots... Williams tips! GOAL! Right under the right pad of Partridge and it's a tie game! With this momentum they don't surrender the PP goal in the third and instead score 38 seconds into overtime on the Bork penalty. A huge game 6 victory and a trip to the finals. I'd be writing this CW about NOLA. It would be great. We'd fall down 3 games to Manhattan, it would look like it's over. But instead a rally from the team would lead to a game 4, 5, and 6 victory setting up for a game 7. I'd be nervous. We'd never won a game 7 before. But a triple overtime goal from Williams would lead NOLA to our first ever cup and the final cup to end the STHS era. And then I woke up. 2. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) You're put in charge of making the casino odds on the Cup winner for next season. Whom are you giving the best and the worst odds to, and what's your reasoning? It'll be interesting to see what the new sim engine favors. If it's in terms of raw tpe, there are some teams that have real superstars. I'd say the forwards for SFP are meh, the defense is stellar and the goaltending is pretty bad. This is opposed to NOLA who has amazing goaltending, amazing forwards, and pretty weak defense. Buffalo has amazing forwards and defense with trash goalies, and NEW just got the top defenseman in the league to add to a decent core. Toronto I would give the worst odds, as well as Texas, WKP, and Minnesota. I think those are the clear rebuilders at the moment. LA has a pretty good thing going but we will see if Booth is up to the task of handling a ton of games behind a younger team. It's very hard to pick favorites for cup odds, individual awards, and pretty much everything else with this big sim change and I'm not familiar with what'll go well. You can likely peg me in for biggest disappointment however. 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) By now, you're probably familiar with the attributes on FHM, and you likely have some sense of what type of build you're going to be aiming for with your player. What one attribute are you going to focus on most? Of all the attributes in the game, what is your player going to strive to be the absolute best at? Why are you picking that specific attribute above all others? I had been debating for a while if I should be a jack of all trades or if I should really spend the extra tpe on the stats that matter most. If I avoided going over 18 on any stat I could have 17s and 18s across the board, but does 18 skating, puckhandling, and passing really help me much? Or would it be worth getting to 20 in reflexes just so I could be the best of the best? These are all things I'm debating as I move towards changing my build. I'm not sure if I want to go into details and I still have some testing to do, but as it stands I believe I can get 20 in 6 stats, 19 in 1, and the rest can be 15s and 10s. That might give me the best shot at being an amazing goaltender and finally getting the recognition that I believe I've earned. 4. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Well, after drinking away my sorrows (cherry dr pepper, not alcohol) I think it'll be time to gear up towards the IIHF tournament. It's really the only success I've found recently and I really want to win another gold to impose dominance on the rest of the world. I think Switzerland was a one-off and Czechia is always horrible but I feel like Sweden or Finland could have a good tourney. You never know with Great Britain or Ireland but it looks like they are losing their medal touch, and Canada is always a tough opponent though the goaltending is looker weaker since the departure of Walter Hobbs from the SHL. I think we have a good shot as always with our vets staying strong and our younger players getting so much better. The D is looking great, Williams, Manius, and Pedersen Jr. are all amazing and just hitting their peak. The goaltending has stalled in actual stat bumping but I don't think the team minds based on the last 2 tourneys. This is looking to be a great IIHF and I can't wait to get started. 7. What one attribute are you going to focus on most? Of all the attributes in the game, what is your player going to strive to be the absolute best at? Why are you picking that specific attribute above all others? When I originally created Piotr the plan was for him to be a defensive D. Now that I have the opportunity to respec him a little bit, and looking at team needs, I modified the build a little bit. I still think the most valuable stat for a defender, no matter what their tendencies are going to be is going to be Defensive Read. At the end of the day their job is to stop the puck from getting into their own net. I think this is going to be the first stat I really push to get to 20. 4. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know! As this is the most generic prompt ever, I will provide the most generic response possible, and I think the response has been the same for every time this question is proposed. Piotr goes back to Russia every off season. This is his time to spend with friends and family and reconnect with his community. Since this is the second Horvat boy to make it to the SHL they have become major contributors to their community. Every season when he returns Piotr spends time volunteering at the rink he learned to play on. He will ref the annual tournaments and do special clinics for the kids. This has become almost a holiday season in Andreapol as none of the kids are in school because they are all at the rink. Both Piotr and Vasily will play in a special 3v3 game where they play against one another. This game has become notoriously chippy as neither player wants to give any ground to their brother. Why? I am against this. Not for the reasons you may think. I really do like the idea, but I want to modify it. What I would like to see is games 1-4 being played in a neutral location. This means that only in the rare event of a sweep during the finals will be held away from one of the participating cities. Once the first four games are over then we should go to a rotating schedule where 2 games are played in the higher seeded team’s arena, and game 6 at the other. This would mean that the league can include a city that may need a little bump in activity, but also brings the games back to the fan bases when they really count. The arena staff in Manhattan went all out this season. To try to make their home games a little more exciting they are introducing a new drink at all of their bars. “The Rage” has enough spicy to make any fan a Rage fan. Starting with Flamin Hot Cheetos and crush them up, they will wet the rim of your cup with lime and then roll the rim in the Cheetos. Then they modify the normal Bloody Mary recipe to add an extra bit of spice by adding Tabasco to the mixture and then garnishing the drink with Jalapenos. If you order this drink wearing anything other than a Rage jersey, expect everything to be stepped up. The price is also increased if you aren’t wearing Rage gear as well, but if you are, the drink will only run a reasonable $24.99 for an 8oz drink with a special commemorative glass that you can bring home to remember your experience. You can also bring your glass back to be refilled for a reduced cost. 14. Written, up to 5 TPE Pick up to 5 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. I have to give this one to JayWhy simply because I am more familiar with them and I like that there are multiple capital letters in their name. We all know that the more capital letters you have, the more powerful you are in all things. On the flip side, luketd doesn’t have any, and Grapehead and DaftRaincCoud have four combined? I am changing my opinion. I am going with San Fran for this one. 2. Which approach do you think is better for a fierce Challenge Cup series? We all know Simon doesn’t care about your carefully balance line rotation. Its all about San Fran’s top heavy lineup. We have seen it time and time again that this is usually rewarded in this sim engine as high TPE lines that are played well above normal ice time. It is very frustrating, but it is reality. 5. Would you rather: (a) a chainsaw lesson with JayWhy, (b) a private Gritty meet-and-greet for you and Luke, © an all-you-can-eat grape buffet experience with Grapehead, or (d) an hour session where DaftRaincloud shows you everything from his internet history? Definitely d. If you have spent any time in the Renegade’s Discord you know that we have seen everything there. From PMs from FormX to memes from JP, there isn’t much that can shock me or gross me out anymore. I would love to take a look at RainClouds internet history so that I can see how tame his fetishes are.

What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there? In my alternate reality the two teams playing would only be altered very slightly. You see, when I was in the minors I was brought up under the tutelage of Jimmy Slothface and Michael Fox and they managers so as the teams all went down the stretch I was watching the Specters very closely waiting for them to meet us in the finals so I could face those two players in the S52 finals. It was a close match where they fought tooth and nail, but in my alternate reality they won game 7 and were facing off in a NOLA vs MAN finals. Everything would be flip flopped. A power house that has made recent acclaim and the dark horse Rage that snuck our way through consistent play. It would have been a great send off for this season and herald in a new era of victory for New York once the Rage inevitably won that series as well. 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Why are you picking that specific attribute above all others? Phineas Gold is going to be the screening master. Everyone can shoot a puck, or deke a defender, but against the new goalies anything is fair game. In a world where goalies almost never let a puck in and the players are just trying to get faster and flashier, you need some people to just bunker down and be big. Phineas is not looking to be that fancy goal scorer. I am looking for deflections and screening those goalies so my team can excel and make it back to the championship round once again. Someone is going to have to be good at getting in the way otherwise all your scorers become just perimeter shooters hoping on luck. 5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Which player from the Rage or the Pride would you bet on to win a regular season individual award in a future season? What player and what award? What makes you think they'll live up to their potential and take home the hardware? No one plays like Phineas Gold plays. This rookie has had a great season supporting his teammates on the third line. In the regular season he did not commit one infraction and kept his team from having to go on the penalty kill. I see this player eventually gearing up to get the future MVP awards for either the regular season or the playoff season. Quietly supporting his team and getting goals when it matters the most. He started off their playoffs with the first goal and I am expecting him to make the same kind of plays to get his team going in the finals. 6. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) While this can definitely sway the emotions of the players it is actually even more important for the fans. If we want people to take the SHL league seriously then you can’t discount the people who pay money to come watch these teams play. If we asked these teams to travel for 1-7 days to another location, take off time, and watch our games then we are delusional. People want to pay to watch games in the same seats that they did while growing up. They care about the team and want to be there to support them. You put it in some neutral location and we might as well be the Olympics. Fuck that. 14. Written, up to 5 TPE Pick up to 5 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Head GMs JayWhy and Grapehead have been GMing for a while, whereas Co GMs Luketd and DaftRaincloud are newer to management - which team's front office staff (including coaches) do you think will provide a strategic edge (lol as if such a thing exists in STHS) in this series? JayWhy for sure. While his team does have Luketd they also have Alaska. Alaska has been playing 3d chess this season while the other teams have all been playing Go Fish. Our team changes up our lines when the going gets tough and even pulls in the occasional Hail Mary. You want to know how Buffalo lost? Their lines never changed. Edge MAN. 2. Manhattan has been rocking a pretty evenly-distributed ice time for forwards (35-33-32) whereas San Francisco is going a bit more top-heavy (40-40-15). Which approach do you think is better for a fierce Challenge Cup series? Manhattan has producers on all three lines. If we can trust our top pairing defense to beat their top two lines, which we do, then you can bet Manhattans third line is going to be taking a bite out of the Pride in every game. We don’t rely on one or two stars. 3. The Rage and the Pride have, in my opinion at least, two of the best logos in the entire SHL. Which team's logo do you like more and why? I actually like the first incarnation of the Rage the best. The new incarnation is simple, sweet, and really screams MESS WITH THE BULL AND YOU GET THE HORNS. The Pride logo looks like a nice kitty cat that I want to take home while I am drinking beer and red bull out of my cup win. Manhattan Rage all the way. 4. What is your favorite player name on either of these two teams and why? (not favorite player/user, just focusing on their player name) I miss my man Tokek “the snake” takashak or whatever his last name is. It’s just such a fun little name how could you not be enamored with it? It both has a certain ring to it and just rolls off the tongue with ease. Combined with the fact that he is supposed to be a literal lizard makes it for one of the best bios/names ever. Bring him to the furry league. If JayWhy can teach me how to wield a chainsaw with such precision that I can make art with my newfound skill then JayWhy all the way. It can double as a lesson for how to take my anger out on people who would disrespect the cause. Does it also come with a free lesson on how to dispose of bodies? Can someone check for me?

PBE PT 1. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) This reality is just one of infinite realities existing alongside this one in parallel. Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S52 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there? In my alternate reality, the high-powered Chicago offense of the regular season shows up to play in the playoffs. They take the deciding game from Manhattan, and then have any easy time sweeping the less powerful Stampede. Over in the West, the Pride likely deserve to have made the Cup with their great roster and the amazing season they had. However, life isn't fair, so let's give New Orleans the game 7 victory they needed in order to move on to play for the Cup. Other results are roughly the same, but we now have two of the newest teams in the league in the finals, with the Syndicate's strong offense once again bearing fruit as the take down the Specters in six. Honestly the real change I would make is that my former team the Wolfpack should've made the playoffs and then bulldozed our way through the East, but alas it was not meant to be. 2. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) You're put in charge of making the casino odds on the Cup winner for next season. Whom are you giving the best and the worst odds to, and what's your reasoning? Honestly I think the team I recently left is the most likely to win next season. They've been the victim of some really bad luck from STHS despite having a lot of really strong players and one of the best strategists around. They seem to be really prepared for the transition to FHM and have the high TPE to back that up, especially after picking up Rex Kirkby as a stud defenseman and coming out ahead despite trading me away in another deal. On the other hand, one of the lowest odds has to be my new team, the Renegades. We are a young team with a lot of developing prospects and a strong young core, but we only have a small handful of current superstars like Harvey Danger and Andreas Kvalheim, and that is not going to be enough with the depth that some other teams have. There's plenty of hope for the future, but next season we have very low odds to win it all. If whoever is grading this has also graded any of my past PT's that were on similar topics to this one, you probably already know where I'm going with this. That's right, I'm going to be the hardest hitter in the new order of the SHL. That's been the primary goal for me in the SHL for my entire career, which required me to focus on what is called checking in STHS without really distinguishing between being a real heavy-hitter and just playing a strong defensive checking style. Now that we're on FHM, I can go hard into hitting itself and really lay some people out, fulfilling my dream of becoming the newest bash brother. 5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Which player from the Rage or the Pride would you bet on to win a regular season individual award in a future season? What player and what award? What makes you think they'll live up to their potential and take home the hardware? I'll bet on Piotr Czerkawski to finally realize his maximum potential and win a Ron Mexico trophy at some point in his career. Piotr is one of the most active folks around and knows a lot about building a strong player, and I think that will transition over well to the new FHM engine. He's also surrounded by one of the best teams in the league right now with a lot of strong Pride teammates, which I see as a benefit - a better overall team tends to lead to more scoring opportunities and more importantly, easier scoring opportunities. He has somewhat passed his prime, but still has time to pull this off. |
