By now, you're probably familiar with the attributes on FHM, and you likely have some sense of what type of build you're going to be aiming for with your player. What one attribute are you going to focus on most? Of all the attributes in the game, what is your player going to strive to be the absolute best at? Why are you picking that specific attribute above all others?

When I first created my player I only had one thing in mind and that was to be a total physical shut down defender. As time went by in the sim it became clear being a total defense first player wasn’t the best choice in Simon’s eyes. With the switch coming up I am aiming to be a bit more help on the offensive side of the game, building a player similar to Charlie McAvoy. Still of all the attributes my strongest is going to be defensive read. I want to help score but my main focus will always be being one of the best defensive defensemen in the league.

The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know!

It was another long off season for me and the rest of the West Kendall Platoon. The thing I am most looking forward to in this offseason is helping prepare all of the guys for the coming year. We have a lot of youth coming up in the system and I am really excited about being one of the leading voices in the locker room helping out the young ones. I’m hoping to get a new program for youth hockey in the West Kendall area with the guys on the team. When I get some free time looking to get over to South Korea to visit my wife’s family. Hopefully I can come back coronavirus free. As always I’m looking forward to the IIHF tournament to help sharpen up for season 53. We are stepping into a whole new world next season and I can’t wait for it. West Kendall is going to be on the rise starting this season.

The SHL is taking a stand and trying to do its part in reducing its carbon footprint. One of the proposed ideas is to eliminate back and forth air travel during the Challenge Cup and Four Star Cup finals and instead hold all 4-7 games in one neutral, rotating location a la the Super Bowl. Are you FOR or AGAINST this idea? Why?

FOR! For the longevity of our planet we need to look into reducing our carbon footprint. We travel so much and don’t really think about the effect that it has. The only thing the league needs to do is make sure that the neutral sites are prepared for the incoming games and that more tickets are available for the fans of the “home” team than the away. In addition to helping the planet the league would also have the opportunity to really turn the championship series into an epic event that people will never forget. The pros far outweigh the cons. It needs to happen.

Our poetry theme this season is a limerick! Write 1 SHL-themed limerick for 1 TPE or 2 SHL-themed limericks for 2 TPE.

There once was a man from West Kendall
Whose stick he had turned into Kindle
He tried hard to score
And left all games sore
With a point total that could fit in a thimble

There once was a sim that was named Simon
That made everyone think “was he high, man?”
In the end it was boring
All you needed was scoring
With the switch we will all be smilin’

The arenas in San Francisco and New York certainly don't need any gimmicks to get people into the stadium for the series, but the arenas want to make sure they're pulling out all the stops on the big stage. Help the concessions department of one of these two teams develop a new product, with marketing specifically pertaining to this finals series, to be sold at the arena during the finals. Describe the product and the marketing in 150 words or create a promotional poster showing the product, its name, the price, etc.

Given the Manhattan Rage’s logo is that of a bull the San Francisco Pride’s concessions department will be introducing a brand new 100 percent all beef hot dog for the championship series. The Pride look forward to having all of those in attendance for each game taking a bite out of the Rage Dogs. The marketing will focus on the term taking a bite out of the Rage. Each hot dog sold will come with a Pride hot dog holder in the shape of a lion’s head. Each hot dog will be completely customizable for each customer. The San Francisco Pride will have your standard fare of hot dog toppings with the addition of more extravagant topping like black truffles, kimchi, and fermented shark. It will the pride of the championship series. Make sure you bring your appetite and take as many bites as you can out of the Rage. Just make sure you don’t choke.

1. Head GMs JayWhy and Grapehead have been GMing for a while, whereas Co GMs Luketd and DaftRaincloud are newer to management - which team's front office staff (including coaches) do you think will provide a strategic edge (lol as if such a thing exists in STHS) in this series?
2. Manhattan has been rocking a pretty evenly-distributed ice time for forwards (35-33-32) whereas San Francisco is going a bit more top-heavy (40-40-15). Which approach do you think is better for a fierce Challenge Cup series?
3. The Rage and the Pride have, in my opinion at least, two of the best logos in the entire SHL. Which team's logo do you like more and why?
4. What is your favorite player name on either of these two teams and why? (not favorite player/user, just focusing on their player name)
5. Would you rather: (a) a chainsaw lesson with JayWhy, (b) a private Gritty meet-and-greet for you and Luke, © an all-you-can-eat grape buffet experience with Grapehead, or (d) an hour session where DaftRaincloud shows you everything from his internet history?

2. If we are going to write this in a real world approach, an evenly distributed ice time is the way to go. A team that relies too heavily on its top players will run into problems as the series goes on. Players need that extra bit of pop they can get from getting a few more shifts off.

Task 1

New Orleans wins game seven of the Western Final and goes on to face Manhattan in the Challenge Cup Final. What follows is completely different from what unfolded as New Orleans smashes Manhattan in four games. The series is a major blowout and sends Manhattan into a downward spiral as they trade stars for draft picks which do not pan out. Management is cleared out and virtually no one is left on the team. A new GM comes in and decides at the first priority needs to be…moving the team. Nothing helps a team get back to their winning ways like relocating. Gone are the Rage and we welcome the Iowa Huskers. The Huskers are a disaster and don’t make the playoffs in their first five seasons before their GM leaves the site. Then, everyone turns to one man, the prodigal son, King. King returns and his first order of business is to…move the team. They move to Salem, Oregon because Portland reminds people of the Admirals. They become the Salem Witch-Hunters even though that was a New England thing, no one has the heart to tell him. They win Four Challenge Cups in a row.

Task 2

Putting odds on the next champion will be incredibly difficult. I think it will take a few seasons for things to settle down and we could see a few upsets in the next few seasons before the usual teams make it back to the top. I am giving the best odds to San Francisco. They are a complete team and probably the most prepared to deal with the new changes. They have a very experienced GM who will have been spending a lot of time preparing. As for the worst odds, I would say a handful of teams will sacrifice their first few seasons experimenting and looking for the next exploit. I would expect a major falloff for Hamilton, Calgary, and Tampa Bay. They would have the poorest odds of winning the Cup right now. As I said, it will be difficult to place odds for the first few seasons until things settle down.

Task 3

I am a selfish player and I will be focusing a lot on offense. The most important parts of my game will be getting open and shooting accuracy. I’m not much of a grinder and I rely more on finesse and style. I’m not the biggest guy so I like to shoot from the perimeter. I’m going to be a threat from anywhere. I expect goal-scoring to take a dip this season but if I can match my numbers from this season I will be happy. My style of play has been the same since day one so I don’t anticipate too much of a change. I am getting older and it’s just a matter of time before I start slowing down. I have to make the most of this next three seasons so I don’t have time to toy around like other players. I’m excited to see what happens. Time will tell.

154 Words

Task 4

I was not looking forward to the offseason because I anticipate it being longer than normal due to the transition. But I suppose the extra training will help me. I had no interest in testing free agency so my first goal was to work on a new contract with Texas. That’s been taken care of and I am locked in with Texas for the next three seasons barring a trade or something drastic. I’ll probably have one more contract after that before retiring. All I am doing now is preparing. Texas made some good acquisitions in the offseason and I don’t think we will be basement dwellers this next season. We flirted with the playoffs this past season but it all came crashing down later in the season. We have to learn to stay on target and stay in the hunt. Preparation is key for this season and it will set the tone for the remainder of my time in Texas.

Task 5

If Brogen sticks around I definitely see him picking up an award. While he is entering regression he has a ways to go before he needs to pack it in. He’s been a solid hand for San Francisco for quite some time now and he deserves the recognition. Pride were supposed to have a stellar draft in Season 43 but it all came crashing down. Brogen was one of the ones who managed to work out from that class where people like King and Vrana disappeared for different reasons. I still expect good things from him next season but with the new engine, anything could happen.

106 Words

Task 6

I am all for reducing the carbon footprint and playing the series in a neutral location. The Super Bowl is a major destination event similar to Wrestlemania and the Final Four. The Challenge Cup could be just like this. It could have a week full of festivities and events including an all-star game, exhibition games, skill competitions, and various other events. They could even do a prospect game during the week. The options would be limitless if the event was held in one location. It takes away the advantage and would be one way to determine who is the best on neutral ground. If the home team makes it, so be it.

Task 7

The Kraken and Beserkers and now the Timber

The relocations come faster than left swipes on Tinder

I hear Minnesota is up

It might help them in a Cup

But the whole thing seems distracting and a hinder.

I have been wanting to build a Connor McDavid clone since creating and I believe FHM will have much more options to be able to really make a unique player. To be Connor, obviously focusing on speed and puckhandling is going to be the key, as a Speedy Forward archetype. I am happy to get both those attributes to 20 to be the fastest and best puck control player in the league, even if it means taking a hit in other areas like checking or defensive awareness! Also though I will make sure to have a decent shot and great passing but overall, it's all about blowing past the defenders like they was standing still!

1. In this season of alternate universes we look at the bass ackwards universe of season 52 in the 69th dimension (nice.). The way this one worked is interesting and is also entirely biased. The WKP came in as the second seed for the East, with the first being the Barracuda. Meanwhilst in the West, the leaders were the Renegades in first and then the Chiefs in second. The series from the Platoons perspective saw a Strong Wolfpack losing in 6 to the People’s favourites, the West Kendall Platoon. After this series the Platoon sweep the Barracuda because it’s the Barracuda and brings them to the finals. Unfortunately for the Platoon, west coast powerhouse the Chiefs are ready to bring in a real series for the Platoon. The bout lasted Seven with each game being defines by a single goal each time, the air was tense in game seven, no goals either side until with seconds to spare Efiug scores a real Efiug of a goal and the universe is perfect and everyone is happy. (174)

2. Since I am not actually sure how to arbitrarily draw the odds, Im going to be just about as biased as I can be with determining them. My methodology is simple and garners around inputting as much money into the SHL community as is feasibly possible. In order to do this I will be checking previous season stats and follow free agency tightly in order to see how the season outlook is. Probably the same there as it would be if not I. Second, I will inverse the normal rankings and ensure that power house teams that are guaranteed to give it a shot Have the lowest odds in order to garner higher payouts amongst the SHL working class. Teams with genuine low chances to win will be given the possible payouts of the best teams around a 1-1 rate in order to leave the option for the dumb and to disuage the dumb. (154)

3. It’s tricky being at such a low tpe count, i should be going into the season near 520 or so which is a good amount but is also not too much when in comparison of the cost of some of these stats. In order to make a good point shooter d man, Im going to rely on mostly my senses and positioning. From my research these stats can be really forgiving of deficiencies to the point of being a viable option. However we don’t really know how the SHL’s meta will turn out so it’s exciting to say the least. (100)

4. Sabo Tage is gearing up to hopefully make an impact in Season 53 as he is being called up to the Platoon in order to make his rookie debut. In order to prepare, its time for a few components. For one, young Sabo Tage eats the healthiest of health, limiting his diet to only the most scientifically sound in order to increase his hockey abilities to the maximum degree possible and necessary. An example of this would be his eptitude to demolish piles of hot dogs in a style reminiscent of the Great Phil Kessel, or his skill in ravaging a tribe of chicken tenders such as star player Johnny Gaudreau. The second component is skating on cement, which I understand is bad for your skates, buts its also good for power. Think of it, Cement is rock, ice is like rock so it works. Its completely logical and helps my explosive stride. Thats how Sabo Tage has been preparing. (160)

5. If I had to pick a single player from the pride to win any individual award in his career, it would most likely be Luke Thomason. Luke is known by all already and has won awards for his work ethic already, however he also has translated that work ethic into a terrific player who should be at the least taking home the Playoff MVP this season. However I can also see Luke, who stands near the top of the global TPE rankings, to have a phenomenal start to the S53 season, from there he could be winning the Stevens regularly, hell he might even win the Best Goalie award too. In the alternate reality where we made the move to FHM in a reasonable amount of time rather than dilly dallying with band aid rules and trying to force another Ham Championship on the entire league, the league is actually turned on its head when the Buffalo Stampede post a perfect 50-0 regular season record followed by a sweep of sweeps to win the first Challenge Cup in the new more realistic era. Viktor Marius posts a record breaking 55 points in the playoffs in only 12 games, while Bobby Sharp gets a +4 and records 2 assists total after recording an exceptional 3 goals and 2 and a half assists for the regular season. The league in this universe is currently frantically trying to figure out a new rule to screw Buffalo over after their overwhelming domination, with the current plan being to revert back to STHS where balance is all made up and the TPE doesn't matter.

Casino odds this time around are going to be much further spread apart in my opinion. The differences between the best teams and the worst teams is going to be further spread apart with the move away from STHS to FHM. FHM appears to very much reward depth, so much so that test sims already suggest the teams that are running 3 lines full of 1k+ TPE players are absolutely dominating over the teams that only have a couple of stars. You are going to see much lower win counts for the bottom of the barrel teams and higher win counts for the top teams, otherwise savvy betters will take the casino for all it's worth. A team like New England that has notoriously been mistreated by STHS recently should see higher win counts, while over achieving teams like the recent Toronto North Stars will be lucky to see a double digit win count.

3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.)
My player is a playmaker first, and while that of course requires a very high level of passing, there are two other stats in particular that I will be focusing on as much as passing or more. Being a playermaker requires the mechanical skill of passing for sure, but the other thing it needs is an excellent vision of the game. Both the defensive read and more important offensive read stats are where this can be worked on. I envision myself as possessing one of, if not the best offensive read in the SHL at the peak of my career. Buffalo has its fair share of snipers and I don't forsee any issue with giving them a steady stream of tape to tape passes for the coming seasons.

1. Have to go with Manhattan's front office here, it's not really a question. Luke alone brings a level of analysis and insight to the table that I have only seen matched by a handful of people in the league, and as a group the Rage's front office has put together a deep, powerful team with both seasoned vets and a solid core from the mid S40s that'll take them places for seasons to come.

2. I don't know which one is technically better but Manhattan should win on this based on that depth alone. Teams with 0 depth and 2 lines shouldn't even make it this far. The league is going to be much more realisitc when a team rolling 3 lines full of big strong men slaughters these one hit wonder teams that somehow find themselves winning games they shouldn't.

3. Rage logo is much better than the Pride logo in my opinion, for the very simple reason that it is very simplistic in nature. The Red and Black combine to make a fierce and intimidating logo especially when paired with the intimidating empty eyes. I feel like the Pride logo has way too much going on around the head of the lion that, especially at small sizes, it becomes a bit unreadable.

4. Nathan Explosion has to be it with Rainbow Dash coming in a close second. Nathan Explosion is more than just a name, it's an entire state of being. I do think both the Rage and the Pride are missing excellent marketing opportunities with their perfect players being on the other team. The Rage could do such a better job at selling Nathan and his Explosive play, while the Pride and Rainbow Dash would be a perfect match for the power of love.

5. Private Gritty meet-and-greet for me and Luke. I can't even imagine how wonderous a night on the town with Gritty would be. Between dumping bags of popcorn on the heads of Manhattan fans or beating up Philly shit bags, Gritty would be entertaining and fun for the whole family. Not to mention having him wisk us away to his secret dwelling.

I think the Buffalo Stampede will have the best odds to win the Challenge Cup because they have the best roster for next year. They will lose two players but they are going to call up Augustus Wang and Nicholas Owens. Both of them were lotto picks and they are going to be superstars in the league. Their forwards are still very good. I think Monkey D Luffy can win the MVP next year. He’s still growing and learning the game but he has great players around him. The Toronto North Stars have the worst odds because they are rebuilding. I’m not sure how they were able to make it to the playoffs but I’m sure it wasn’t their plan since they have traded the former MVP. It’s going to be tough for them to rebuild since they don’t own a lotto pick. They only have three good players and the Eastern Conference is very stacked.

I’m going to build an offensive defenseman type player, probably a point shooter because we need to score and my player will help with that. Our defense is good but Darrow and Scoop are more defensively minded. I’m going to have a bigger role next year. I will be more useful on the powerplay. My focus is going to be more on scoring. This season I played more defensively and only scored 9 points. I expect to score more than 30 points next year. With Makela regressing and losing both Metzler and Walker will hurt us on offense but with my new build I think we will be fine.

I’m going to be busy this offseason. First off, I’m an unrestricted free agent for the first time in my career. My priority is to get a deal done with Buffalo as soon as possible. I love the city and the players. I know they have a lot of signings to do this offseason but I believe we will be able to get a contract. If we can’t agree to a term, I’m fine with moving forward and looking to play for a new team. I am also going to be training this offseason. With Metzler and Walker gone from the lineup, I will be playing a lot more. I’m expecting a bigger role on offense since Tatu Makela is regressing and Poopity Scoop is more of a defensive player. I also want to win the gold medal in IIHF. Team Japan is very strong this year and I believe we can do it.

I’m not sure if DaftRaincloud had any experience in management before being hired as cogm but I know Luketd was the GM of the Vancouver Whalers for five seasons and has won a Four Star Cup. He had a winning record with his junior team and since joining the rage management, they have been winning games. So I think Manhattan will be more prepared in this series.

I think both strategies are good. Manhattan have one of the best top 9 forwards in the league so they can have an evenly-distributed ice time for their forwards. San Francisco has a solid top 6 but their third line is a bit weaker so they play less minutes. I think Manhattan has the better strategy because their top players are less tired and their third line can compete against the Pride top line.

They are both great logos but the Pride logo is a bit better because it’s cool to have a lion as logo. I have never seen one in a hockey league. Also, I love the color of the logo. The purple and gold jersey is so cool. I think the originality and the color makes the difference for why I prefer this logo.

Rainbow Dash is my favorite name in the series. Just hearing the name makes me happy. I’m a big fan of my little pony and seeing a Rainbow Dash playing hockey in the Challenge Cup is great. I also have a jersey of her and I’m going to cheer for her even if she beat us.

I would rather have a chainsaw lesson with Jaywhy. I have never used a chainsaw because it’s dangerous to use them. I’m not sure if I want to have one but it does look fun so hopefully Jaywhy can teach me how to use it and I won’t be scared. Using a chainsaw looks fun.

This reality is just one of infinite realities existing alongside this one in parallel. Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S52 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there?
In this alternate reality, the Hamilton Steelhawks show up to the playoffs. After being humiliated 4-1 by Buffalo in this reality, in the alternate reality, Hamilton is able to beat Buffalo in 5 games, instead of what happened in this reality. This offensive juggernaut of a team learn how to perform in the playoffs and make it past to the next round. Manhattan still manages to beat Chicago in a close 7 games, but goaltender Peter Larson is getting tired of carrying the team. In the Eastern Conference Finals, Hamilton barely manages to beat Peter Larson and the Rage in a tough, grueling 7 game series where Larson had 3 shutouts in the 3 wins the Rage had and only allowed 1 goal in the game 7, but was not enough to lead Manhattan to victory. With Hamilton thinking they can beat a defensive juggernaut now, they learn they have to play the San Francisco Pride, a team that is built on defence. The West played out exactly the same, but we have the matchup of the 2 best regular season teams facing off in the finals. Offence vs defence, instead of offence vs goaltending like last round. And who wins? Well, defence wins championships. Unlike in this reality where goaltending stole the show, defence steals the show in the alternate reality and the Pride are able to win the Challenge Cup.

You're put in charge of making the casino odds on the Cup winner for next season. Whom are you giving the best and the worst odds to, and what's your reasoning?
Best odds go to the San Francisco Pride. They finished first in the league, had the best goal differential and this team is built from the back out. All their defenders can be top 4, even top 2 defenders on most teams, and yet, 6 of them are on one team. That’s just unfair. Even without offence, good luck scoring more than 1 or 2 goals against this team a game. And once they make the playoffs, they are built for a 7 game series. Frustrating the opposing offence every game. Toronto has to be the team with the worst odds. While they may have made playoffs, they are going through a rebuilding phase and trying to rebuild even more. They’re trying to load up on prospects and be ready to fire out an all star team sometime in the near future. This season was a rare anomaly that they made playoffs, so don’t expect it again.

One attribute that I’m going to be putting a lot of emphasis on will be defensive read. As an aging winger, my offensive skills are slowly deteriorating, and I’m not the offensive juggernaut I once was..if I even was at all. I’ve always been a defensive player, season in and season out, I prided myself in helping the team win with my defence and if I chipped in offensively, even better. With defensive read, I’ll be able to keep myself relevant and take some PK time from the top offensive guys so they’re rested if we ever do have to go on the penalty kill. Defence is my specialty and that is not changing.

The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know!
Gabriel Wong is looking forward to spending more time with the team this offseason. With the influx of younger players on the team and how the Platoon are going through a rebuild/retool, Wong is looking forward to mentoring all of the younger players on the team. Gabriel may not be the hall of fame player that the Wong family line is used to, but he still brings a lot of valuable assets to the team. Ben Wong was a pure goal scorer but was never able to win the cup, and Hunter won the cup but was a goaltender. Gabriel is the only Wong to have won a cup as a skater. He has the knowledge to know what it takes to win and what it takes to get to a level that is good enough to even compete for the cup. Gabriel has cancelled his usual trip to Asia with the other Wong’s this offseason and has decided to stay in North America to be around his teammates more.

Which player from the Rage or the Pride would you bet on to win a regular season individual award in a future season? What player and what award? What makes you think they'll live up to their potential and take home the hardware?
Peter Larson is going to be a perennial John McBride winner for best goaltender for seasons to come. Having what I’d say is a breakout season, Peter Larson finished the season first in save percentage and 3rd in goals against average. He is a large reason why the Rage are even in the Challenge Cup right now in the first place. This guy knows how to keep his team in games night in and night out. The Rage will always have a chance to win not only the game, but a cup every season if this guy can be on his game every night. He faced significantly more shots this season than first and second in goals against average, which only makes his case stronger that he will be a dominant goaltender for a long time and a perennial McBride nominee.

Task 1.
Well, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want the playoffs to have gone much more different from the way they ended up going. I was happy that The Rage were able to take down CHI and BUF and I’m not sure those series would have meant as much to me if those were any two other teams. Even for a newer expansion team, CHI has always been one of those teams where you knew things could go either way on any given night and I think that was reflected in our 7 game series. To crawl back into contention after going down 3 to 1 games really made for an exciting introduction series to these playoffs. Things sort of aligned when we learned we would have a long awaited rematch of the s46 Conference Finals with Buffalo. I even think the fact that San Francisco would be our opponent in the Challenge Cup Finals was fitting. They have been slowly building up to their potential just as we have over the past 10 or so seasons. The one thing I’d have liked to have seen was a 7 game series for the cup. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad things went the way they did, but you really can’t beat the tension of a game 7. To come out of that on top would have been that much sweeter.
228 words

Task 3.
To be honest I’m just not the type of player who’s going to be amazing at just one thing, my goal is to be competent in many aspects of the game. Obviously checking will be high on my priority list but a lot of other attributes intrigue me. The goal is to make things as difficult as possible for the opposition so most attributes will be decently even, in the mid to high teens. We’ll see how things turn out but I think I may be a decent Defensive Forward or Grinder. I’ve been pretty versatile my whole career and I think that is what I am still aiming for.
110 words

Task 4.
Ahh, the offseason. Well… things should be pretty busy for me for a bit seeing as I just happen to be a part of some amazing team in Manhattan that just won themselves a fuckin’ CHALLENGE CUP! Busy in a fun sense of course. The team has the parade coming up and all those sorts of activities that come with being the champs. You also have to take into account that the IIHF tournament is coming up. After that I’ll have my big day with The Cup and from there on out it’ll be time for some nice rest and relaxation. This body has taken some abuse over the past 11 seasons and after finally achieving the ultimate goal it’s time to take things easy. That is, of course, until it’s time to do it all over again. Sometimes you just gotta take some time for yourself so you don’t burn yourself out, especially at this point in a career. I’m sure by the end of it I’ll be eager to get back out on the ice with my team.
180 words

Task 5.
Luke Thomason of the Manhattan Rage should absolutely win all of the awards. I mean, this dude is insane. He consistently has led our team in a slew of different categories. Luke has got to be one of the most well rounded players while also being skilled as all hell. Kid is one of our best centers and that’s not even his position, he was a winger. A spot had to be filled and he just went out and filled it without even needing any time to adjust. Luke could easily be one of the best players in the league, I think that’s very honestly the general consensus.
108 words

Task 6.
No, absolutely not. Don’t get me wrong it would be cool to reduce our carbon footprint but I am sorry, this is not the way that I would do it. Home ice is incredibly important to the spirit of hockey and it would be a shame to take that away in the most final series. The atmosphere would just be so incredibly different and while that could test our athlete’s ability I don’t think it is worth taking that away from the fans. Granted... yes the absolute hardcore fans would try their best to attend the games, but I just don’t think things would be nearly the same if the players didn’t have a chance to play for their home crowd during the series.
124 words

Task 14.
1. I know it’s very biased but I have to go with my own team on this one. The Manhattan Rage has to have one of the best staff departments you could ever ask for. They constantly keep our heads on straight through the toughest of times and have shown that they have some pretty decent tricks up their sleeves. This season started out a little rocky but we made it happen and were able to solidify a playoff spot. They did their homework throughout the playoffs and now we are sitting on top of the world with a cup in our hands.
102 words
2. And again I have to trust the ways of my team on this one. We have some decent depth and a plethora of players who can play up and down the roster. I think that was made apparent over the course of the playoffs with our lines changing around from series to series. When you have that sort of confidence in your team where you can give everyone decently even minutes… well i think that’s a recipe for success.

3. When the new logo for the Rage was presented to us I immediately fell in love. Not to knock the Pride’s logo, I do quite enjoy it and even more so since they changed their colors. There is, however, something about the combination of incorporating the Empire State Building and the M for Manhattan into the logo… and red & black being my favorite color combo that would draw me to the Rage’s logo regardless of what team I was on. The lion is nice, but that bull is friggin’ fierce.

4. I know I’ve been going with all Manhattan for this CW but again this is going to be handed to a Rage player. Jax Aittokallio has always been one of my favorite names on any roster. Jax just has that modern, badass kind of feel to it… and that's exactly what you need to be in order to carry out the legacy of the Aittokallio name. Fuck if I know how to pronounce it but Aittokallio has to be one of the coolest lookin’ last names on the site. I know I’ve always had fun looking for interesting fonts to match its uniqueness while making sigs.

You're put in charge of making the casino odds on the Cup winner for next season. Whom are you giving the best and the worst odds to, and what's your reasoning?

With the switch to FHM is going to allow for high tpe teams to actually for once, perform like they are suppose to so naturally I am going with the team with a ton of tpe, The New England Wolfpack. I believe they will have the most tpe in the whole team roster wise next season, or at least when we approach playoffs. They are a team that wont be losing that much due to regression either as they have many young stars who will become big this season. Not to mention Ola Wagstrom who is most likely have the most tpe in the whole league pretty soon. As for the worst odds, I would have to unfortunately go with the Toronto North Stars. Toronto might have wowed us all in this past season but I believe their lack of tpe is going to finally start to show, especially that abysmal defense.

This offseason Nicholas Owens is taking a well deserved break from hockey. That is not to say Owens wont be on the ice this offseason, but after working 3 hard seasons in the J and winning a cup, a nice relaxing vacation is in order. Unfortunately going home to Japan might not be the best option with the coronavirus over there but a nice road trip around North America has a nice sound to it. Besides that getting the chance to catch up with old friends and making pick up some old hobbies would be nice. With how much traveling being a professional athlete brings, its hard to maintain stuff like that. Normally the offseason is for that but the past 3, Owens has been working his ass off to help get Anaheim to a cup and to prove himself to the SHL for when he gets called up potentially next season.

5. Would you rather: (a) a chainsaw lesson with JayWhy, (b) a private Gritty meet-and-greet for you and Luke, (c) an all-you-can-eat grape buffet experience with Grapehead, or (d) an hour session where DaftRaincloud shows you everything from his internet history?

1. Well I'm a bit late to this but I think JayWhy and Luketd over in Manhattan definitely had the edge strategically in this latest challenge cup series. JayWhy was once a simmer and has been gm'ing for a long time and Luke has done so much data and stats stuff around the league that I'm sure he has picked up a thing or two.
2. I think San Franciso might have the edge here. Overall they have some very good forwards on their first two lines and allowing them to play that much time on the ice will allow them to have the best production offensively throughout most of the game compared to Manhattan who are relying on fresh guys to push their offensive load.
3. I have always loved the Manhattan Rage logo a ton so I would have to go with them between the two. The color scheme of red, black, and white is one of my favorites and I just love the little city scape at the bottom of the logo. The bull also just gives off this really nice theme of rage and angry for how the bull is associated with those terms.
4. I might be a little biased cause @Inf1d3l (had to find a why to tag you Tongue though this one is a bit weird to write about lol) is my former boss buuuuuut I think the name Barret McCarthy is just such a cool name. Barret in my opinion is one of the best names out there cause it just sounds so badass and it works for both last and first names. Then McCarthy just fits so well in combination with Barret.
5. C for sure. I'm not a giant fan of grapes in generally but the other ones are just so fucking creepy. Like internet history session would be interesting for like 10 minutes but after words would just be boring. Gritty is creepy, enough said. Also would have to spend time with Luke..... I'm not gonna do the research to find who really was the series MVP but I gotta give it up to Peter Larson. Luke Thomason had a crazy playoffs, putting up 22 points, but without the amazing goaltending from Larson he probably wouldn't have gotten there. 0.932% save and 2.31 GAA are absolutely crazy numbers to be putting up against the top teams in the league. Larson was able to keep the Pride at 2 goals for pretty much the entire series besides allowing 4 on the final game but his shutout in game 4 makes up for that. Overall just an amazing performance from Manhattan's goalie that deserves to be recognized

Well, in the ideal alternate reality, the Challenge Cup played out relatively similarly, only the coin I used to predict the playoffs was 100% correct and I got full TPE for my playoffs predictions. I will say, the coin was correct in predicting the winner of the playoffs, it predicted the Manhattan Rage winning the finals, however the rounds previous to the finals played out significantly differently. First of all, the Rage ended up playing the Blizzard in the finals instead, but defeating them in 7 games. Instead of the Rage and the Stampede facing off in the ECF, it was the Toronto North Stars and the Rage. Instead of NOLA and the San Francisco Pride in the WCF, it was the Edmonton Blizzard and the Los Angeles Panthers that ended up facing each other for the right to play in SimonT's final Challenge Cup finals. I'd go deeper into this reality, but I've hit the word goal for this claim. 161 words

Ronlain is mostly looking forward to finally getting to come up and train with the Tampa Bay Barracuda finally. He's been waiting for the last 3 season to finally get called up to the big leagues and now that he's coming, he hopes that he can finally make his mark on the SHL. Honestly, it felt like Ronlain was never gonna get called up the big leagues, and yeah, Tampa might not be in the best spot right now, but we have a lot of prospects in the pipeline and I think that with all of us getting called up in the next 3-4 seasons we'll be real contenders soon enough. Hopefully, Ronlain can get some good training going in the offseason, mesh well with the team, and with any luck he'll have a great rookie season that he can carry into a legitimate SHL career that he can be proud of. 152 words

I expect Austin Roenick to be a future SHL MVP award winner. Dude is a complete stud and for sure would have won Rookie of The Year in his rookie season were it not for the astonishing debut from Toronto's Mika Kandinsky. I got a chance to talk with him a lot during his time on Tampa Bay, and honestly he's someone that definitely has the right drive and the right attitude to be a player who is of the caliber to compete for the MVP title in the SHL. 1A.In a different reality, the Manhattan Rage and the San Francisco Pride still made the finals. However, instead of going to 6 games, the Rage swept the Pride in four. None of the games were even close as the Rage were dominate. Peter Larson had a shutout every game and had to barely make any save against the Pride forwards. The Manhattan Offense was clicking on all cylinders scoring goals left and right. Nobody on the Rage was left without a point even Peter Larson. Phineas Gold would break the record for most hat tricks in a final in history and go down as one of the greatest rookies to ever play in their rookie season. David Vent would have some fights and be able to take over the top spot for fights in the playoffs. The Rage team would go down in history for how to dominate they were in the finals and throughout the playoffs.

4A.David Vent is super excited about this offseason. After just had won the challenger cup with the Manhattan Rage, Vent is excited for his day with the cup. Getting to spend the day with close friends and family and getting to celebrate with them. All the hard work and sacrifices that the family had to make would all be worth once they saw the family name engraved into the cup. Celebrating isn’t the only thing that will be done for Vent. Vent will also look to become more of an offensive player. Vent and management see that the Defense is lacking on the offensive side and after Vent’s huge offensive push in the playoffs and finals. The team wants to see how well the defensemen do while trying to be more offensive. With working on shooting and passing more effectively. Vent is looking to become one of the top offensive-defensemen in the league next season.

5A.Peter Larson without a doubt will be winning more than one award in his future. The goalie is unstoppable in between the pipes. Putting up impressive numbers this year and also for winning a cup. He was one hundred % the MVP of the playoffs this year. Having an impressive goal against average and a very impressive save percentage. Also, for the fact that the goalie was able to put up multiple shutouts throughout the season and into the playoffs. The goalie is not to be taken very lightly with his skills. He is also still growing and training to be a better person. He will be one of the top goalies in the league for many years to come.

1A.I give the edge to the Manhattan front office and their coaches for the series. Throughout the season the Manhattan coaching staff has been at the top of their game. Putting outlines and combinations that other teams are unable to stop.  With Alaska, Infidel, and Tomas all working on the lines together with its an unstoppable coaching staff. All of them have more years of experience working on lines or being general managers across the leagues for many different teams. They know what will work and what won’t.

2. Manhattan has been rocking a pretty evenly distributed ice time for forwards (35-33-32) whereas San Francisco is going a bit more top-heavy (40-40-15). Which approach do you think is better for a fierce Challenge Cup series?
2A.Manhattans' approach I believe is the better approach. Manhattan is very confident in their player's abilities throughout the entire team. They don’t just have 2 good lines; the team is able to run three consistent lines that are all able to produce offensive and defensively when needed. While having great lines constantly is what you need to be able to win a cup.

3.The Rage and the Pride have, in my opinion at least, two of the best logos in the entire SHL. Which team's logo do you like more and why?
3A.The Rage logo is the better logo in my opinion. When looking at the logo you know exactly what you are looking at. It’s a very simple design with very awesome colors to back it up. The red, black, and white all complement each other and make the logo pop. For the Pride, it's kind of hard to tell what it is. At first, it just looks like a circle with random colors in it.

4.What is your favorite player name on either of these two teams and why? (not favorite player/user, just focusing on their player name)
4A.The best name between all the teams is Rainbow Dash. It’s a fun and creative name to have. Not many people are very open about what they like, and Rainbow Dash is extremely open with what they like. It is also fun to think that when Dash scores the opposing team just got scored on by a pony.

5A.I would rather have a chainsaw lesson with JayWhy. Mostly because that means I get to meet JayWhy and he’s a fantastic person. He is one of the nicest and caring people on the site. He would be very calm and would explain everything in detail. If you messed up, he wouldn’t get mad and would show you how to correct it.

I am going to stay as a scoring Winger the ability to shoot from far ranges as a forward being capped at 12 makes that there will be a lot of perimeter forward in in the simulation. Although victorious is primarily played in the checking Winger over the past 10 seasons he will likely play as a scoring sniper who doesn't use his body much because regression is taking a toll on his body. The one stellar young perpetual young player is now an old geezer who is closer to retirement 10 years success on the ice he has a couple more years left in him as a scoring contributor but he looks like he's going to regress into a quality two-way player. The one attribute that he's going to focus on is playmaking and his pack handling skills.Marius is constantly been compared to Artemi Panarin of the New York rangers And his new bill will likely emulate that same type of forward.

Mary's recently sign a long-term contract with the buffalo stampede and won't be looking at free agency possibly ever in his carrier hoping to stay at stampede or for the remainder of his career. So his focus is to lose weight and become a serviceable sniper rather than focussing on checking and body checks and physical play that has been his game style for many a season now.

There once was a guy named Marius
who wanted to be hairest
however one day
the Rage blew away
his chance to be merriest.

There was a stud called Izzy
with boomer vibes that made you dizzy
his love for amy adams
made all the ladies sadden
when they couldn't taste his jizzy

3. The Rage and the Pride have, in my opinion at least, two of the best logos our in the entire SHL.

1. Luke thomason is an SHL God in his short time here. There is no doubt that his knowledge about the intricacies of the site will lead his team to victory. Luke has the abiltiy to use his brain unlike most, and compile data from all the corners of the sim engine to analytically figure out how to lead his team to victory.
2. The best system is depth in the finals. You never know when one player is going to get a misconduct or penalty for fighting seeing how chippy playoff hockey can be. Having an even team to help out when something like that happens or when the games go deep in overtime is best. Especilaly when the depth players are equally matchd to SFP best players.
3. Both logos aren't that great, and I designed one. well... i copied it off google so yeah the rage aint perfect. but neither is the San francisco pride. I liked their old Pre-King color scheme of the red, blue and yellow. The yellow and purple were an ego flex for our old friend King and should be reverted as soon as possible. Surprised Grapehead has kept it thus far considering he is a man of taste.

Andreas Kvalheim is one of the league's premier power forwards, and the upcoming switch to FHM won't change that. As such, Kvalheim best attributes will be his strength, puckhandling and hitting. With his strength on the puck, Kvalheim will be extremely difficult for defenders to handle when he has the puck on his stick and bulls his way towards the front of the net. Kvalheim also prides himself on his two-way game, and he is working on excelling at separating his oppenent from the puck, either with his stick or his body. That being said, his strength is his main attribute and will be what separates him from the rest of the league.

Which player from the Rage or the Pride would you bet on to win a regular season individual award in a future season? What player and what award? What makes you think they'll live up to their potential and take home the hardware?
Both teams have loads of superstars on their rosters, many of whom are just now hitting their peaks. Of all these players, I believe Luke Thomason has the best chance of winning an individual award soon. Thomason is one of the highest TPE players in the league, and while he's never had a truly elite season, I think the move to FHM will benefit him greatly, as TPE will matter a lot more than it did with STHS where players maxed out at about 1500 TPE. Thomason is my pick for the scoring title next season, as he is the centerpiece of what should be a dynamite Rage offense

PBE Welfare Claim (3/16 TPE)

2. Obviously, I'm giving the best odds to the Edmonton Blizzard. (This is definitely NOT favoritism.) First off, we have a very active team, which is part of the reason that the Blizzard have been regulars in the playoffs over the last few seasons. Secondly, we have in our midst a few gentlemen who are well versed with FHM and the way that the sim operates. I am putting my trust in these men to work their voodoo magic and figure out the best way to assemble our new lines and strategies. As a team, we have pulled together over the last few weeks, since the new update scale and builds were released, to try and work together to make this upcoming season the best the Edmonton Blizzard have ever had. As far as the worst odds, those go to the Tampa Bay Barracuda. After scoring the least goals during the regular season and allowing the most goals, only the grace of Simon allowed them to not come in last. The also had one of the worse faceoff percentages in the league. Not that I think that correlates to win percentage in a major way. Just proof that Tampa was no bueno this season.

3. Well, my player is going to be the classic sniper type player, worrying only about gunning in goals from everywhere on the ice. Therefore, I focused on mostly offensive and skating skills, such as puckhandling, acceleration, getting open, offensive read, and screening. My two highest stats are speed at 18 and shooting accuracy maxed at 20. I not only want to be deadly playing while set in the opponent's end, but also on the breakaway. Also, as a bonus, my shooting range is 9, which is a few away from being maxed, but I'm told that Ovechkin's shooting range in FHM is only 8, so I'm officially a better distance shooter than Ovi, so there's that.

4. Blackwood is definitely looking forward to getting in some work on his offensive game over the offseason. After putting up less points in his sophomore offering than in his rookie season, he's really planning on focusing in on his shooting ability and becoming more efficient in that way. His shooting accuracy dropped off a good bit last season as well, so a little bit of added efficiency should go a long way. He has always dreamed of being one of those deadly scorers, like Alexander Ovechkin or Patrik Laine, and plans on working very hard over the break to make that dream a reality. Not that he expects to go from eight goals to thirty goals overnight, but any steps in the right direction will be welcomed. Also, Blackwood wants to spend some more time with his teammates, hoping that it can help out their chemistry on the ice. Getting to know the guys you're out on the ice with can certainly help a line click.

7. Almost time for FHM to appear
Time for league change is near
I've rebuilt my player
Don't be a naysayer
Edmonton's dominance is clear

There was a young man named hotdog
Who looked like a little hedgehog
He wanted more poems
And so I will show him

1. If the season 52 playoffs happened a different way the New Orleans Specters would be hoisting up the championship. Each series for the specters would have been blowouts until the finals where they would have beat the Buffalo Stampede in seven games. The battle of the s45 expansion teams finally happened and it was one for the record books. This final will be the most watched in the history of the shl and the Play by play would have the most views ever for the game seven game. The two players who will solidify their hall of fame careers in this series will be Nicholas Williams who went off with a dominant twenty one points in seven games and the specters legend winger Joe K, who scored twelve goals in seven games to cap off an amazing career. Joe K would go onto announce his retirement after scoring the game winning goal in overtime in game seven. (3)

2. If I was put in charge of creating the casino odds for season 53 then I would first have to consider how the new sim engine works and look through the new attributes that players will putting their earned points into. After factoring all of that into my decision then I will predict the best team in the league. I will predict that the New Orleans Specters. The Specters would have seven to one odd to win; thus, meaning if you bet one hundred dollars then you would get seven hundred dollars. I made this selection because on paper before any games have been simmed they have the best top nine in the league and they have a young and constantly growing top four defensemen core which only will make them better as the season goes on and the players earn more attribute points. The worst odds would be to the Hamilton Steelhawks as they are cheaters. (3)

3. The one attribute I want to focus on the most is passing. I want to be a playmaking defenseman who has the ability to might tight passes in the offensive and defensive zone. The quicker I can make the pass the quicker the puck gets up the ice and I pick up a few secondary assists. Passing will also be important on the powerplay and I can assume the quarterback role that a lot of teams are missing in this league; this will give the Specters an advantage. Passing will also help set up my teammates better so that they can further their development. (2)

6. I would not be in favor of this super bowl type championship. Team’s play the all fifty regular season games to earn their respected seed; the better the seed the more home ice advantage they have during the playoffs and I think if this was taken away we would see more teams rest players and not take the regular season that serious because the fifth seed and the first seed would have the same home ice advantage if the SHL championship was played like a super bowl. Also, the fans wouldn’t be able to see their team play if the “super bowl” wasn’t near them. (2)
