2nd year center Alexander Roach is taking any questions from the media regarding the past season. He scored 4 goals and 12 assists for a total of 16 points while playing big minutes for the Timber. Alexander was a 5th round pick of the Buffalo Stampede in the S53 SHL entry draft, and is continuing to work towards his goal of making the big leagues. He plans on spending his summer back in his hometown of St. Cloud, Minnesota, working on his skills and getting ready for the upcoming WJC where he hopes to be able to represent team USA once again.

With the callups of Mr. Kayhall and Mr. Cheezy for next season, you are looking to have quite a bit more responsibility next season. Are you looking forward to really taking on a bigger role?

It is going to be bizarre next season to walk into the locker room for the first time next season and not see Kayhall and Cheezy there. They have obviously been great players for the Timber, but also great guys in the locker room. It's hard to replace guys like that, but I think we have a great room, with lots of leadership and talent. I am really excited to see what our guys can do next year, with all the young guys having a year of experience under their belts, I think the sky is the limit for this group. As for myself, I feel like I am ready to step into a bigger role next season. I think my game has been coming along really well in the two seasons I've been here, and I'm ready to see what I can do given a bigger role, both on the ice and in the room.

With how busy I am during the season, I haven't had a ton of time to sit down and play it yet. But with the summer break upon us now, I'll have some time to finally start playing. I am hoping to get a twitch stream up and going if you would like to watch me over the summer!

What parts of your game are you working on this offseason?

If you could win any individual award in either the SMJHL or SHL, what would you want to win and why?

I haven't been around very long, but the high point of my career so far would probably be when I was selected to team USA's world junior championship roster last season. I wasn't expecting to get the call, but I was ecstatic when I did. Getting the chance to represent your country on an international stage is a huge honor. Plus the event itself is a ton of fun. Getting to play with guys you wouldn't normally get to is a blast. Last year I got to play on a line with Zoltan Topalo and Jmac Ncheese and those two were great linemates. I'm hoping to get another crack at it this year, and hopefully help team USA to a better result than last year.

I'm working really hard on my shot this offseason. It's no secret we weren't the best scoring team this year, and losing two of our top guys is only gonna make it worse. My shot is definitely the weakest part of my game, so I'm going to spend a lot of time on it with my skills coach back home.

Well everyone dreams of winning the MVP right? Maybe I can get to that level one day.

So I think you misspoke, you meant 1st to 10th right? I think we will take a nice step forwards this year, and make the playoffs. I think we will do much better once we get there, our defense and goaltending has been the teams strong point this year, and both of those go a long way in the playoffs.

Ideally, up in Buffalo playing for in the big leagues, with you on my wing.

Oops, fixed that.

As far as the WJC goes, it should be fairly similar to last seasons. I'm excited to see all the familiar faces again.

I expect us to make the playoffs next season, this roster is a young group that is on the up. We have another chance at an excellent draft with quite a few picks. If we hit on those, we could could have on of the deepest teams in the league. Once we make the playoffs, it's anyone's game at that point, but I feel like we are very well set up for playoff hockey.

He absolutely did, and I'll make him give a real answer on next weeks episode.

The leadership core headlined by Kayhall is moving on to the SHL, but he was the face of that franchise for a while now. How does that void affect the team going forward, and are there people you expect to step up and at least informally fill that?

You guys, Newfoundland, and Carolina are all in similar spots with your depth and talent coming out of rebuild seasons. What do you foresee happening in the East this upcoming season.

You have formed some tight bonds with a few Carolina Kraken players, including captain Jimmy Wagner and rookie Dwight Knight. How does that affect the rivalry that seems to be brewing between your two teams?

What players are you looking forward to playing with most when you make it to Buffalo?

What team other than Team USA would you pick to win the upcoming WJC?

Drums or flats?

It's been fun playing with Konrad and Patrick this year. They are both great players and will continue to get better. We constantly push each other to improve different areas of our game. Patrick is the faceoff king, Danke is great defensively and a great skater. We learn a lot from each other. And while I'm sure all of us would love to have that top line spot, in the end it all boils down to what the coaches feel are the best line combos.

Like I said earlier with Mr. Hammersmith, it's difficult to replace the guy who's been the face of the team for years. The biggest issue I see is trying to replace his scoring touch. He did a ton on the ice for us and we are definitely going to miss him and Cheezy on the power play. And while we certainly will miss his leadership, we have a strong room even without him, and have a few guys who I feel like could step up into a bigger role in that area. Guy like Kalashnikov or Sondergard, and we still have Danke, who was one of the assistant captains last season. Hell, even myself. It's going to be weird walking into the room next season and being one of the older guys.

All three of those teams are going to be good next season. They are all full of young, talented players who are only going to get better. Detroit is obviously still going to be good. St. Louis is the team I could see taking a step back next year, but I wouldn't be surprised if the playoff race came down the last game like it did this year.

Wags and Dwight are both cool guys, I'll probably hang out with them a bit during the offseason, maybe have a drink at the WJC. But, when we play the Kraken, gotta leave all that stuff off the ice. I'm not going to hesitate to finish a check against either of them, and I'm sure that they feel the same way. It fine to be friends off the ice, but you can't let that slip into the way you play against them.

Well, I'm certainly not going miss getting brick walled by Elizabeth Doyle. But I'm very excited to get a chance to learn from some of the great forwards who on Buffalo. The guys like Luffy and Hippo, who have been great pros for a long time already.

Besides USA, UCORCAL still looks really good. I would call them the favorites besides team USA. Dach looks pretty good again, as does Sweden. I think most of the teams are fairly close though, and I expect to be an exciting tournament as always!

I feel like since I got drafted to Buffalo my opinion on this is pretty important. Flats all the way. Flats will generally have more meat on them, and are easier to evenly cover in sauce. The extra little bit of effort required to eat them is absolutely worth it.

What's a goal you have for yourself as an individual by the time your career is over?

What do you see being your strengths that could be of value in the SHL given another 5 seasons or so?

Do you see yourself spending your entire career with the Stampede?
Any player who you'd say was an exemplary leader in Maine?
I know I asked Wagner this, but was there any player that you hated to play against this season?
