S54 SMJHL Draft Class Player Review and Scouting
By AgentSmith630
Eligible for 2x Draft Media Bonus

Greetings, and welcome to one of the most comprehensive Season 54 SMJHL Draft Class Player Introduction/Review and Scouting posts you'll read this season! I've compiled the Attributes of every draftee (so far) in order to learn about my fellow classmates and to provide SMJHL Team Management a resource to use alongside whatever tools they may have to pick the best fit for their team. This is a long one. I didn’t want to leave anybody out, and the class is pretty big, so buckle up and get ready for my best attempt at a home-brewed ranking.

Spreadsheet here => S54 SMJHL Draft Scouting and Prospect Ranking <= Spreadsheet Here

A few notes and statistics before we begin:
• This is not a Draft Order prediction. The ranking is based upon my arbitrary "Prospect Grade", which is calculated based on TPE Distribution based on listed Position, whether the player is a Recreate or a First Gen Player, Bank Balance, and a small adjustment for Aggression.
• This ranking and the spreadsheet do NOT take into account the change in starting Stamina for players created before the change. Only players created after the change (marked with a " * ") will have this reflected in their TPE calculations.
• Please take my "Prospect Grade" with a grain of salt, as I know only what the Attributes can tell me about how each person wants to build their player, so an Offensive build on a player labeled as a Defenseman is graded lower than a Defenseman with a Defensive build because that's usually what makes sense for most defensive players.
• Rookies are not only some of the fastest-growing players in the SHL, but are able to shift their stats easier than most, so the stat weight is probably higher than it should be, but I didn’t really have anything else to base the ranking on. In addition to that, everyone gets one free TPE redistribution in the off-season, so some of the more imbalanced players may choose to re-balance with the advice of some of the more experienced players.
• I have excluded Goalies from my Draft Ranking because I couldn't figure out a way to accurately represent their stats in my calculations when compared to everyone else.
• A player's bank only counts in the Prospect Grade up to $15 Million, above which they receive the maximum point value for Bank Balance. This makes Recreates, especially those with healthy bank balances, more favored in the ranking, which is why most of them are at the top. I chose $15 Million because that number is a good point at which a player should be able to afford all the training and Coaching they need for one year (if they don’t earn any more money).
• Current Applied TPE only calculates the TPE that has been applied to your stats. Any TPE that has yet to be approved or applied will not be counted. I didn’t want to go through more than 90 update threads to figure that out.
• Reminder: TPE Updates were only applied to players who were signed as DFAs before playoffs started, so these players inherently have an advantage over those who were not signed. The last included TPE update for S55 Prospects happened on 5/3/2020 and does not include the change to starting Stamina.
• I will do my best to update the Google sheet linked below as new players are approved and as updates to players happen, up until the Draft actually happens. All player data is entered into the spreadsheet by hand, so I apologize if there are any mistakes. I’ve spent more time on this than I planned to, but that’s what quarantine will do I guess.
• I will not change the order or add to the write-up below based on changes to the spreadsheet after posting.

Quick Stats
Centers: 19
Defensemen: 25
Wings: 52
Goalies: 7
First Gen Players: 61
Recreates: 43

Prospect Grade Ranking

1. Asclepius Perseus Flitterwind - Right Wing - @CaptainCrazy
At the top of the Prospect Score ranking is Flitterwind, who is looking to be a sniper any time he touches the puck, and with the offensive attributes he’s packing, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at the top of the shots taken board next season. Decent physical stats, but poor defensive ratings means that teams should not rely on him to be helpful on the defensive side on the ice. The Colorado Raptors picked him up in time for their upswing to make the SMJHL playoffs. His bank should help him progress nicely, and his current TPE shows CaptainCrazy’s commitment to his recreated player.
2. Adrik Baranov - Left Defense - @Jorec
Jorec comes back to the SMJHL with a Left Defenseman solely focused on Offense and physicality. His score boost from his considerable bank is the only reason he’s so high on this list, as the refusal to put any TPE into defensive stats goes against common sense unless he’s a winger in disguise. His speed, acceleration, and agility are all top-notch, and that could prove beneficial, as it allows him to ignore those as TPE sinks for now. With more than 9 years of site activity, Jorec knows his way around and likely already has friends in high places, resulting in a more favorable draft outlook for him.
3. Young Logo - Right Wing - @Loganjj21
Fast feet and fast hands are the best way to describe this recreate from Loganjj21, who has been active since the middle of 2017. With top tier stamina to help Logo stay on the ice longer than his classmates, it’s not hard to see why he’s near the top of the list. He’s staying on top of training and if he continues, he’ll be one of the higher TPE coming into the draft. Talk to the St. Louis management if you want any insight into how he plays, as Logo was picked up to help them make the Scarecrows push into the post-season. His hefty bank account doesn’t hurt either, as he won’t be missing out on any PTE opportunities that come his way.
4. Zelma Zuntnere - Left Wing - @Jogurtaa
Boasting the largest bank in this draft at over $100,000,000 and more than 6 years of experience, Jogurtaa is set to make Zuntnere the premier Left Wing in the SMJHL. His speed and agility will make him a threat going after the puck and getting open, and you won’t be able to knock him down. Outside of the physical aspects of the defense, don’t expect to rely on him for much on the home half of the ice, as his Defensive Read is as low as they come. Zuntnere should be a reliable player, and his experience and presence in the locker room will be a positive addition no matter what team he goes to.
5. Theo Kondos - Left Wing - @Ohtaay
Kondos is a small, speedy, offensively-focused Left Wing that can read an Offense with the best of them, and not get tired while being in the right spot at the right time. He signed with the Falcons before the preseason in order to get some time on the ice in a professional setting, so there’s the draw of a semi-proven player as well. With Ohtaay, who has more than 5 years of site experience and a bank to prove it, Theo is looking to really boost himself into large amounts of growth as early as possible.

6. James Hagan - Left Wing - @CampinKiller
CampinKiller has built an offensively focused Left Wing with a focus on reading the offense and using that knowledge to get open and take accurate shots whenever he gets the puck. With solid physical attributes, you won’t be able to bully him while he’s on the ice. With a considerable bank and lots of experience to work with, Hagan is a very strong Wing with considerable upside and lots of room for growth.

7. Liam Slate - Right Wing - @Tylar
Tylar is back in the SMJHL with an offensively-balanced Right Winger. With experience that goes back to 2011 and a bank that’s itching to spend on training, expect Liam to be a presence and a quick growth player who will be able to fill any spot asked of him. With no glaring weaknesses aside from a low hitting and shot-blocking stat, we can expect to see Slate performing well on both sides of the puck in the coming seasons.

8. Stan Q. Next - Center - @iamslm22
In this Offensive Position heavy draft, Stan stands out as the top-rated Center, boasting an impressively balanced build and one of the highest Bravery stats in the class. Not that they needed the help, but Detroit saw some promise and picked him up to help bolster their depth for their playoff run. With his large bank and iamslm22 in the driver’s seat (more than 2 years of site experience), Next is poised to be a great Center in the SMJHL.
9. Jason Desrouleaux - Left Wing - @Gooney
One of the most Offensively focused Wings in this Draft, Desrouleaux will be a considerable force when attacking the net. He’s one of the best screening Wings in this class, and his Puckhandling and Shooting accuracy, combined with an excellent Offensive read, will ensure he’ll be a terror for opposing goaltenders. Gooney’s previous player was a Center, so the offensive knowledge is there, and his 4 plus years of experience will serve any locker room well.
10. Pavel Kharlamov - Right Wing - @RippleLuck
This short Russian has the offensive knowledge and ability to find any small opportunity to get open to be an absolute terror for opposing defenses, and when he gets the puck, expect magic. He has an excellent handle on reading an offensive push and can shoot accurately to match. RippleLuck will be able to show his almost 3 years of experience and flex his considerable bank when guiding Kharlamov through his first season in the SMJHL. Watch for him to be a force on the ice sooner rather than later.
11. Guðmundur Kristjánsson - Right Wing - @Fluw
This recreation from Fluw is looking to be one of the top passers and puck handlers in the class, and with an excellent ability to read the offense and no shooting skills whatsoever, I can only assume he’s going for a “pass first, shoot second” type of wing, which is rare in this Wing heavy draft. The ability to go so deep into passing and handling is likely the result of creating after the change to starting stamina. No defensive skills could hurt until there’s an influx of TPE, but that’s really his only weakness outside of shooting. Luckily there’s a decent bank and lots of proven activity to help keep the GM’s interested.
12. William Reynolds - Right Wing - @sharksisback
Reynolds comes into this draft with one of the best set of hands on a Right Wing, and knows how to use them not only with the puck but on other skaters, as he is more aggressive and can fight better than most of his peers. In combination with his speed, he should be able to be a threat no matter where he is on the ice, and he’s not lacking anything either. With one of the largest bank balances in this draft, expect Reynolds to be an explosive growth prospect and a positive force in the locker room.
13. Alex Marshall - Right Wing - @DonutDefender
Marshall looks like a good offensive Wing, but his stats also bring to light the fact that he’s looking to be one of the most aggressive Wings in the class. With a higher than average aggression, hitting, and fighting stat for a Wing, Marshall is looking to be a menace for opposing defensemen who come up against him. If it weren’t for his considerable bank balance and the fact that he’s a recreate, Marshall would not be so high on this list. He has enough money to get him through several seasons without much effort, so it’ll come down to whether he can make a good impression on the scouts and GM’s to determine his true draft value.
14. Ryan Rieley - Left Wing - @Brandon
Picked up by Carolina to help them make their push for the postseason, Riely hits hard and has the speed, stamina, and aggression to make other players nervous whenever he’s on the ice. Don’t let his physical stats turn you away though, as his Offensive abilities shine, and with Brandon having experience that goes back to Season 1, you know he’ll be able to shine.
15. Kolja Kekkonen - Right Defense - @WannabeFinn
WannabeFinn is coming back to the SMJHL with this banger of a Right Defenseman, who has one of the most evenly balanced players in the draft. He’s not higher on the list because his attributes are so spread out and the algorithm looks for more TPE in the appropriate stat grouping, but you’re guaranteed to have a highly active and positive influence in the locker room. It’s hard to quantify mathematically how much of a draw Finn’s personality and engagement are, but it’s enough to have many consider him a First Overall Pick, as they know he’s a safe bet for growth. With a large bank, he’s looking to grow very quickly and any team is going to benefit from his considerable experience.
16. Jöörgüštrâäd DuBølk - Left Defense - @MCP_
DuBølk is an imposing figure on the ice, coming in at 6’ 8” and 245 pounds, but don’t let that make you think this Swede is a fighter. In reality, he’s one of the smartest players in the draft, with incredible ability to read both the offense and the defense, and the stamina to make sure he’s out there long enough to make a difference. With no shortage of experience and a hefty bank balance, be prepared for DuBølk to make large strides in TPE and stay active in any locker room he’s a part of.
17. Jax Gracie - Left Wing - @Im_A_Boonana
Im_A_Boonana comes back to the J with a great take on a balanced and physical Left Wing. With an early focus on Shooting Accuracy and Offensive Read, Gracie is going to be a threat when he uses his positioning skills to be in the right place at the right time. Don’t expect to bully him on the ice, as his physicality is top of the class and incredibly well-rounded. With a decent bank and just over a year’s worth of experience, expect this Brit to make an impact on the locker room, as he did for the Maine Timber when they picked him up as a DFA.
18. Skipper Joe - Center - @Cuffy
The Anaheim Outlaws robbed the DFA pool of a great player when they signed Center Skipper Joe before their playoff run. A great offensive skillset provides Joe with a great launching point for a quick start in his rookie season. With Cuffy, who is one of the most experienced and active members in this class with over 9 years of experience and 14,000 posts on the forum, at the helm, I expect Skipper Joe to be a highly sought-after draft pick, and it shows being in the top 15 of a large class like this one.
19. Lonnie O'Donoghue - Right Defense - @Good_Ole_Kimmy
A recreation, O'Donoghue has one of the best sets of hands in the draft and can prove it by showing off his insane passing ability. Also one of the smartest skaters in the class, he can read what’s happening at all times whenever he’s on the ice. Good_Ole_Kimmy has the knowhow and bank to make sure Lonnie doesn’t fall behind in TPE, which will be key seeing as they were a later addition to the prospect pool than many of the others.
20. Mack Daddy - Center - @Mack
The Center Mack Daddy has decided to grace the SMJHL with his presence by descending from the “Timeless Halls” of his birthplace to play among mere mortals as one of the stronger Center prospects in this draft. A more physically inclined Center than his competition, he looks to put opposing offenses in their place by always being open and not being afraid to throw his celestial body around on the ice. Mack has already proven that players under his divine gaze can do well, having 3 Four Star Cups and 3 Challenge Cups in his trophy case, and he’s looking to add to the collection.
21. Axel Foley - Left Defense - @Mazatt
The Carolina Kraken saw something in this Canadian Left Defenseman, and it’s not hard to follow their logic. Foley always seems to be in the right spot at the right time, and his ability to read both sides of the puck is outstanding for someone just coming into the league. Not only is his game sense fantastic, but he can back up his brain with brawn, as his large frame and willingness to hit other players can swing the momentum of a game. Mazatt is looking to quickly develop his player into one of the top Defensemen of this class, and he has the experience and bank to do it.
22. Taylor Gervais - Right Wing - @Pamplemousse
Gervais is known for his ability to get open and attack the net more than anything else, which should help this Center become a valuable pickup in the draft for any team that favors him. While Pamplemousse isn’t as active on the forum as some others with as much time, he’s still a positive presence in the locker room, and he’s looking to have a good start to the TPE gain by being able to afford the best coaching right away with money to spare for continuous training through the season as long as he stays active with his media.
23. Big Drincc - Right Wing - @LB.
The spirit of hockey fans everywhere takes physical form in Big Drincc, who apparently looks like “a Heineken bottle or smth” according to his player profile. I’m not sure how long an actual bottle of beer would last on the ice, but Drincc should be able to hold his own by way of his excellent ability to play the offensive side of the puck. While he is able to understand what’s happening on defense, I wouldn’t expect too much from him, as outside of being in the right spot to hit someone, you won’t see anything special. LB. is a veteran who is looking to make his comeback in the SMJHL, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him taken in the first third of this class.
24. Malik Wilkins - Right Defense - @Fizzy
Fizzy is back in the SMJHL with one of the most intimidating Defensemen in the class. At 6’ 11” and 300 pounds, it’s not surprising Wilkins is looking to be a hard hitter and a terror for literally anyone who gets in his way. One of the most aggressive players in the class, Wilkins is going to be a force on any defense he plays on, and if Fizzy keeps up with earning TPE, he’ll only become scarier over time as he brings his weaknesses in line with his strengths.
25. #A-Rye Izzy - Left Wing* - @Samee RETIRED Hmm
Samee is known for creating players and then leaving them out to dry rather quickly. I would be surprised if he’s picked up for anything outside of the name recognition (his player thinks he’s the son of another user’s character). If he does stay active, he’ll be one of the fastest rookies in the class, and a sniper to boot. Don’t look for any help on the defense though, and his aggression could cause some problems if not kept under control.
26. Alexander Oscarsson - Right Wing - @Zema
Oscarsson is the definition of a min-max player, with a huge early focus on puck management, reading the offense, and agility. Lacking in speed and any sort of accuracy, don’t expect Oscarsson to be any sort of shooting whiz, but he should be a good player to put on the ice and help the other players get into good offensive spots. Luckily Zema has the bank and the experience to get his other stats balanced out rather quickly, if he so chooses. With some experience gained playing for the Timber in the final weeks of the season, Oscarsson has improved his draft stock by being a positive force on the ice and in the locker room.
27. James Boxman II - Center - @siddhus
Boxman II is looking to be a shooting Center with high accuracy and range, and his focus on offensive stats should help him be an asset to any team that is able to get him the puck. Balanced physical stats should mean that any TPE earned in the early season should be able to bolster his severely lacking defensive skills outside of faceoffs. A decent bank should allow him to have relatively steady growth as long as siddhus stays active.
28. Victor Ball - Right Wing - @jcfbey01
Inside sources tell me that Ball is looking to build into a sniper of a Right Wing, but his current build is about as balanced as they come. With no real holes aside from shooting range, Ball could develop into whatever he wants with no real issue. Good stamina means he won’t be left behind on long plays, and a healthy respect for defense means that he won’t leave you hanging when he’s needed to defend the net. If he can stay active and utilize his money to the fullest, Ball could be one of the best value pickups in the draft.
29. Jesse Seppänen - Left Wing* - @ligma
Seppänen is built to play the two ends of the ice very differently from each other. On offense, he’s a sniper, with the accuracy and range to take shots whenever he can. On defense, he’s looking to be in the right spot to hit people and let his team get control again. Good speed and balance will let him get between the two with relative ease. A small (for a recreate) bank balance could provide a roadblock if media isn’t a thing, but ligma has plenty of experience to back it up and get Seppänen to the top of the class.
30. Rikard Bjerg - Right Defense - @AgentSmith630
Picked up by the Maine Timber as a DFA only a few days after declaring for the Season 55 draft, Bjerg already has some SMJHL experience. He has the honor of being the highest-rated First Gen player, and he’s currently near the top of the class in TPE, showing no signs of stopping his growth. With a balanced but defensively focused build and high stamina, Bjerg is looking to grow into a true shutdown defenseman, providing protection for any goalies he gets in front of by shutting down opposing offenses. If AgentSmith630 is able to stay active and keep his growth as steady as he’s proven he can, Bjerg is positioned to be one of the dark horse picks in the draft and should be an excellent addition to any locker room.
31. Teddy Park - Left Defense* - @trashae
Park created something special, an excellent look at a defenseman with a good focus in physicality and defensive skills without an overly offensive focus. His incredibly high (for a rookie defenseman) fighting stat paired with a non-zero TPE push into aggression means that Park could be parking himself in the penalty box more than his fellow draft defenseman. If he’s as much a scrapper as his stats might suggest, it could turn some GM’s away, but you never know when a team could use someone like Park to make sure the other team doesn’t step out of line.
32. Domenic Alessandrini - Left Wing - @kylecorbett42
The only Italian in this season’s SMJHL draft, Alessandrini is looking to make his country proud. His early lean into offensive stats should do well in a deep Wing field, and some experience in faceoff could earn him some interest from GM’s whose teams are a bit lacking in that area. He makes up for being one of the shortest rookies in this class by also being one of the hardest to knock down, having some of the best Balance and Strength compared to his classmates. While this is a very deep Wing class, Alessandrini has an experienced user in kylecorbett42, and a decent bank to help him keep up with some of the more experienced recreates in the pool.
33. James Gogol - Right Wing - @GamesJogol
Hailing from Edmonton, Canada, Gogol is a well-rounded Right Wing who could blossom into a star if he focuses on building himself up quickly. More aggressive than most of his classmates, he makes up for his temper by not having any glaring weaknesses. GamesJogol, the user behind this player, has some work to do to get his player into the spotlight, but being so well rounded has its positives.
34. Wile Coyote - Center - @Brucehum
Wile Coyote is the top First Gen Center in the class, and it’s not hard to see why. He’s managed to stay offensively focused while not ignoring the defensive skills that will allow him to play both ends of the ice. The Maine Timber recognized the potential and picked up Coyote as a DFA, so he has some experience on the ice already. Coyote is one of the top TPE earners of this class so far, which bodes well for any team that decides to pull the trigger on him.
35. Biggs Secksy - Left Wing - @BadLck
Biggs Secksy surely lives up to his name, being the heaviest player in the draft at 300 beautiful pounds. What’s surprising about this large Finnish man is that he’s also one of the fastest, most agile players in the draft, and is as fast with his hands as he is with his feet. Look for him to win his way into the hearts of any fanbase and locker room he ends up with, and while his defense isn’t as beautiful as his face, he should be able to grow rather quickly, as he has shown his engagement by hosting a Q/A podcast, and as long as he stays active, Secksy could develop into a star.
36. Hunter Scott - Center - @I'll change this later
Hunter Scott was picked up by the Kelowna Knights as a DFA in time for their Championship run and is looking to leave his mark on the class of Season 55 by showing he has what it takes to help his team go the distance. He’s below 4 of his fellow Centers in this list because if the calculation for Prospect score sees more than 60% of TPE in one category, it hurts more than helps your ranking. Scott ignored his defense entirely, so he’s not as high as he could be, even with some of the most dangerous shooting skills in the class. As long as there is a focus on becoming a more well-rounded player in the future, Scott should be an excellent pickup anywhere in the draft.
37. Sammy Blaze - Center - @hockeyfan
A rare defensively-focused Center makes Blaze stand out in this class of offensively-minded Centers and Wings, and having no stat left at base value means he’s already one of the most balanced recreates in the draft. Unfortunately, as a Center, the algorithm views Blaze as an offensive player with more TPE in defensive stats, so he’s hurt in his Prospect Score, but he could absolutely fill a need for a team that needs skill on both ends of the rink. There is experience and a decent bank to help Blaze grow quickly, so he could be an excellent pickup for any team.
38. Emery Khan - Right Defense - @Chromium Knight
Khan, who is the smallest player in the draft at only 5’ 8” and only 170 pounds, makes up for it by also being one of the most aggressive and one of the best fighters in the class, making him a classic “goon” on the ice. Aside from being willing to fight anyone and everyone, his defensive abilities are on par with a rookie, and he’s really only lacking the ability to read the offense, which isn’t super important for what he’s going for. As long as he’s active and on top of TPE opportunities, Khan could be a good addition to a team looking for an enforcer on the defense.
39. MIervaldis Nemiers - Center - @Gukis
With one of the most interesting names in the Class, Nemiers joins a shallow (compared to the Wings) pool of Centers for the Class of Season 55. With a strong offensive build and a healthy respect for faceoffs, Nemiers could be a terror for opposing defenses across the league as he grows. His Aggression could be a concern, as it’s higher than average, but don’t let that turn you away from an otherwise great looking prospect. Gukis has some work to do to grow his bank to the point where growth can be constant, but if he can do that, Nemiers could be a force to be reckoned with.
40. Ismael Sanchez - Right Wing - @Ismael8907
Sanchez leads the next grouping of 8 prospects, all Wings, by having the most TPE so far. Also sporting a build that completely ignores the defensive side of the puck, he makes up for it by being fast, agile, and an absolute sniper whenever he touches the puck, which should be relatively often with his uncanny ability to read the offense and find any open space between the defenders. If there is steady growth and a decent team to feed him the puck, Sanchez could turn into one of the league’s leading shot takers and goal scorers.
41. Ivo Lüx - Left Wing - @motzaburger
Lüx is another very offensively focused Wing in a class full of them, but he stands out as one of the most accurate shooters and one of the best at reading the offense. His speed and stamina will help him be in the right situations to take advantage of his strengths but don’t look to him to help on defense very often. That could change with some time and consistent TPE growth, but he hasn’t used the opportunity of being picked up by Colorado as a DFA to start quite yet.
42. HeHateMe DanglesForDays - Right Wing - @Vorshayla
Mr. DanglesForDays is a physical Right Wing who also shows the tendency of the rest of his Winger classmates to ignore his defensive skills. In a break from the norm of his classmates, however, he has not dumped most of his TPE into his offensive stats but instead has heavily invested into being a speedy and agile Winger with some of the highest physical stats of the draft. As long as Vorshayla stays active and looks to tighten up his weak spots, he could be one of the biggest threats to opposing defenses when it comes to getting to a loose puck.
43. James Kimanje - Right Wing - @"VRTX L4S3R"
VRTX L4S3R comes back to the SMJHL with a very balanced Right Wing from Uganda. Slightly more aggressive than average but able to read both sides of the puck, Kimanje made a great run with the Detroit Falcons at the end of the season and is looking to help his next team to similar success. With more defensive skills than a large portion of his Winger classmates, Kimanje is flexible in his room for growth, and as long as he stays active, he should be a positive influence on and off the ice.
44. Juli Schneider - Left Wing - @RiderLAK
Small and agile, Juli is looking to be able to squeeze into spaces that her larger offensive teammates not might be able to, and with her uncanny accuracy, she could be a real threat to defensemen and goalies who aren’t expecting her to find those areas. Not only is she dangerous near the net, but her ability to read the defense makes her rather unique in this offense-focused Wing heavy draft. The Colorado Raptors saw an opportunity to test her out on the ice and picker her up as a DFA for the final stretch of the season. Schneider has the potential to be an excellent two-way player if she’s able to keep up with the available TPE opportunities.
45. Ginger McAlester - Center - @Ginger56
If it wasn’t obvious from the name or the bright red hair, McAlester is a native Irishman and the only one in the class. A star in the faceoff circle and one of the elite passers in the draft, he’s definitely going to help his team look good as often as he can. A little lacking on the defensive front, Ginger56 has some work to do TPE wise to make sure McAlester doesn’t get burned while trying to help on the back end. As it is with a large portion of the bottom half of this class, that would require some effort in creating update threads and being a bit more active, but that can all change once the season starts.
46. Devin Basher - Right Wing - @HanTheMan_
Basher was picked up by the Vancouver Whalers as a DFA and was rewarded by having his player updated which put him ahead of some of the less fortunate. For a Right Wing, his defensive stats are a little high, and the algorithm looks down upon that. It does, however, give him the opportunity to really focus on building up his offensive capabilities without becoming too unbalanced. If he can stay active and use his TPE wisely, Basher could be a star.
47. Juan Hunna-Pussent - Left Wing - @AdamS
One of the faster Left Wings in the class and probably the best name in the draft, Hunna-Pussent is a physical monster, with no important skill in that category left behind. He’s also looking to be a threat on the attack, as his offensive skills are also poised for a quick jump if he can stay active and claim all available TPE. A little more focus on Offense instead of Physicality in his original build would have landed him higher in the ranking, but there’s only so much you can account for with such a balanced player.
48. Lord Raiden - Center* - @Jumbobone19
Raiden is going to be an absolute menace for opposing goaltenders, and his faceoff skills as a rookie are on par with a large portion of Centers currently playing in the SMJHL. If he stays active and gets his TPE up to clear out some of his weak spots (like his defensive skills), he should be able to compete with the Centers who have more experience and money to back them up.
49. Rusty Willows - Right Wing - @Omega
Willows is a very well balanced Right Wing, really only lacking balance and being able to read a defense. He’s going to be able to grow in any direction that Omega chooses as long as he stays on top of TPE and money opportunities. With the proper coaching and practice, Willows could shine, but it’s always a risk, taking a First Gen player who hasn’t posted anything other than his player page. The fact that he’s claimed his free rookie money is a step over some of the First Gens in this class, but the fact he hasn’t spent it on the recommended training is a little worrying for teams looking for activity and growth.
50. Boris Bison - Right Defense - @tylerw30
Boris Bison is one of the most physically fit Right Defenseman in the class, as shown by his incredible Balance, Stamina, and Acceleration. These skills only complement his strong Defensive skills and excellent puckhandling. It’s too bad he wasn’t able to be picked up as a DFA by any team, as his build really could have pushed him towards the top of the First Gen player in this list if he’d been able to be updated. If he can stay active, look for Bison to be a menace on the ice.
51. Aston Martin - Right Wing - @Warner
Martin is one of the fastest Wings in the class, which should serve his ability to read an offense well. His Defense, aside from his ability to read it, could use some work, but as a wing, it’s not super important right away. An above-average screening stat could make him stand out to some, but it’ll take some work to get him to the point where he’s a true threat. If Warner can stay active, Martin could be a dark horse pick up later in the draft.
52. Marc Palicka III - Left Wing - @BaseScoutX1
Palicka III is a well rounded Left Wing recreate from BaseScoutX1, who has the experience to build a player to greatness. Palicka is poised for greatness, and with no real glaring weaknesses for a Wing, it’ll be hard to say he won’t achieve it. Good physical and offensive stats pair well with few defensive flaws, making Marc one of the more attractive lower-rated players on my list.
53. Rudy Gay - Left Wing - @rg_8522
One of the larger Wings in the draft, Gay is looking to intimidate opposing defenseman not only by being large but with his deadly shooting ability and the know-how to know how to put them in their place. To go with his stature, his physical stats are also very well balanced, and while he’s not severely lacking in defensive capabilities, they could use some work. As is true for everyone on this list, keeping active and gaining TPE will be crucial to shoring up the holes that are present.
54. CD Qwig - Right Wing* - @qwig
Qwig is a whiz with the puck and has the speed and physical stats to make sure that nobody is going to get in his way when he comes charging down the ice or when he’s trying to find that back door to the net. Aside from a basic understanding of how it works, don’t expect too much when he’s on defense. It could be an easy place to sink his TPE assuming he stays active, but it depends on how flexible he’s willing to be with his build.
55. Daniil Nikiforov - Center* - @DELIRIVM
Among the better passers in the class, as well as having some of the best acceleration and offensive reading capabilities, Nikiforov is an incredibly agile Center with a decent understanding of faceoff. Unfortunately, he’s also one of the slowest players in the draft, which will hurt if opposing teams can quickly transition from defense to offense because he also has poor defensive skills. Look for his defense to be the focus of early updates if he can stay active.
56. Florentin Rauséus - Right Wing - @teddyperra
Rauséus comes into the draft with some of the best hands on the ice, and the offensive knowledge to know how to get the puck where it needs to be. He’s also able to get after the puck with his incredible acceleration and agility but his low stamina means he’s only good in short bursts for now. Look for him to be a terror for opposing defenses once he’s able to get some ice time and TPE under his belt.
57. Hennesey-Gallchobhar O'McGuiness - Right Defense* - @the_paytonium
It’s surprising that with a name like O’McGuiness that Hennesey-Gallchobhar isn’t from Ireland, but I guess Great Britain is close enough. A sniper of a Right Defenseman (which doesn’t look great according to the algorithm), he could be an interesting fit for a team searching for an offensively minded defenseman. Able to read the offense and defense equally, he won’t be a liability, but he doesn’t really compare to some of his Defenseman classmates. He’ll have to stay active to round out his weaknesses and make him a more attractive player.
58. Juan Fernandez - Right Wing - @skurlexx
Fernandez’s build is suggesting he’s looking to build a sniper of a Right Wing, with incredible accuracy and range, and the offensive knowledge to know when is the right time to strike. His defense could use some work, but with as many TPE opportunities as there are early in the season, he could clean up those weak points with relative ease. As with most First Gen players, staying active will be key in raising TPE and draft interest.
59. Justin Smith - Center - @Canuckmale1988
This rather large Canadian Center is willing to throw his body around in order to put his dangerous shooting skills to work. With one of the best shooting ranges in the class, paired with excellent accuracy, look for Smith to be a hassle for defenders to keep in check, especially because he’s not afraid to check you back. If the TPE grows consistently to help shore up some of his weaknesses (speed and balance stick out here), Smith could be a terror.
60. Randy Everist - Left Wing - @reverist
With his Offensive and Defensive reading capabilities combined, Everist could make the argument of being the smartest Wing in the draft. While his other stats aren’t as strong due to this (especially his defense outside of stickchecking), he’s already shown to be active on the site and this could make him a good candidate to be a quick and steady earner of TPE and a true dark horse in this class.
61. Ryu Jones - Left Wing* - @SFresh3
One of 5 Japanese players in the draft, of which he is one of two Wings, Jones is hoping to stand out with excellent hands and higher than average speed. While his shooting could use some work compared to some other Wings in the class, his ability to find the gaps in the defense to get open is incredible. He’s not a physical skater, which could be a detriment against some of the more aggressive defensemen in this class, but his good balance should mean he’s not on his back very often. As with all rookies, staying active will be vital in growing into a star.
62. Sven Gunnar - Center - @Southie
Gunnar is focused on two things: Offense (specifically having a deadeye shot), and staying on the ice as long as possible. With a Stamina and Shooting Accuracy stat tied for the highest in the class, he should be able to both of those things incredibly well. Don’t look for him to be helpful on the defense though, as aside from some minimal understanding of reading a defense, he’s pretty lackluster. He’s already proven to be active on the forum, so that should be a positive sign for TPE potential. If he can put it to use minimizing some of his weaknesses, look for Gunnar to be a true danger.
63. Tokamir Ripovski - Left Wing* - @FEV X
A pass-first, shoot-second Left Wing, Ripovski makes himself stand out from a large portion of his Wing classmates. Not only does he have good physical stats (including stamina higher than the rest of those created after the stamina change), but he didn’t completely ignore his defensive traits like so many in this draft. If FEV X can continue his activity, he should be set to create a Wing that could be at the top of the Assists category in the coming seasons.
64. Walton Stromberg - Center*- @sulovilen
A well-balanced, pass-first Center, Stromberg is looking to be a force on both sides of the puck. Created after the starting stamina change, he was able to focus on making sure his other stats got some love. Excellent knowledge of both offense and defense pair well with his decent physical stats, and with no serious holes in his skills, if he can stay active I expect him to be an excellent Center in the coming seasons.
65. Young Cowboy - Center - @desruial
Mr. Cowboy is about as balanced as you want a Center to be, with a good understanding and focus on both offense and defense, and no real glaring weaknesses physically aside from strength. A lack of participation and bank balance really hurts what would otherwise be a rather attractive and easy to build prospect. The right application of TPE could get Cowboy to a spot that would make him a star, but he’ll need to show some willingness to grow and earn TPE before a team is going to pull the trigger on him.
66. Martin Nedved - Right Wing - @Medis
Another well-rounded but slightly more aggressive Right Wing, Nedved is hoping to stick out by being one of the best screening Wings in the class. Medis has some work to do to make Martin a threat in front of the net, but he could quickly blossom into one of the strongest Wings in the First Gen section of this class as long as he sticks to gaining TPE as often as possible.
67. Clayton Carlsen - Right Wing* - @sharkaiders
Fast and incredibly agile, Carlsen is looking to be a sniper when passing to his teammates. He’ll need to put some work into his accuracy to fill that role as a shooter, but with a draft full of shooters, he may be encouraged to stay as a pass-first wing in order to allow his team to take the shots. I wouldn’t expect miracles on defense, but with some time and energy, Carlsen could grow into an excellent and reliable Wing.
68. Joker LeBlanc - Left Wing - @CablePlays
Small and fast, this Canadian is looking to be a blur for opposing defenses. With a good balance across the offensive stats and no glaring weaknesses aside from Checking, LeBlanc could develop into a variety of different threats with the right focus and training. As always, this requires a commitment to staying active and gaining TPE whenever possible.
69. Moritz Müller - Right Wing - @Brojoh456
Müller is fast and agile, and that should serve him well in a class full of Wings who are not quite as fast and defensemen who are looking to punish them by hitting hard. A decent push of TPE into his offensive stats will do him well, as his defensive stats are probably OK where they are, at least for now. As is true for every player, staying active and getting TPE whenever possible will help turn the negatives into positives.
70. Videl Satan - Right Wing - @ValorX77
Satan, aside from having a name that might instill fear into some of the more pious hearts, is incredibly balanced and has very few weaknesses. On the plus side, he’s also already relatively active on the site, showing that he will probably continue to grow and only be an upside for any team that is able to pick him up. His score is hurting from not being picked up by a team and also by not having any money is his bank, but that’s likely to change sooner rather than later. Satan could be one of the best dark horse picks in the draft assuming he’s not already making a case for himself.
71. Zakkira Diporov - Right Wing - @TheSparkyDee
This big Russian is looking to be a threat on the offense, with an uncanny ability to get open and a laser focus on the net whenever he gets the chance to shoot. His physical stats could use some work, as could his defense, but there is definitely potential for Diporov to be a menace for defenses across the league if he can remain active.
72. Jonathan Lillehammer - Right Wing* - @Scheetzzy
Lillehammer is the only Dane in this draft (at the time of posting), and he’s hoping he can make himself stand out by also being one of the better passers in the class, as well as having one of the best offensive reading capabilities. While his defense isn’t totally neglected like with some of his Winger classmates, he could definitely use some of his early TPE to remove some of his more pressing weaknesses. As long as he can remain active, Lillehammer could be a decent late-round pick for a team looking for what he’s got.
73. Kyle Reinholt - Right Wing* - @kylereinholt
Great hands go well with an uncanny ability to find the gaps in the defense set up Reinholt to be a pretty big threat to opposing defensemen, and he’s not afraid to hit those who get in his way. His defense could use some work, but it’s not as lacking as some of his classmates. If he can stay active, make a good impression on the GMs, and earn TPE at a decent clip, he could be a decent Wing in any locker room.
74. Cody Spinka - Center* - @CapoPirate
Spika has created an excellent offensively-focused Center without forgetting to invest some TPE into his defensive stats. An uncanny ability to get open should pair well with one of the better screening stats, making him a menace for opposing goalies trying to defend a crowded net. His early TPE (assuming he stays active) could go into some of his physical stats, which could pair well with his decently large frame, or into shoring up his defensive skills.
75. Colin Lambert - Left Defense - @rum_ham
Coming back to the SMJHL, rum_ham has built Lambert to be an offensively focused Left Defenseman. His experience on the site would usually mean a larger score, but his focus on stats outside of the defensive category and relatively small bank balance compared to other recreates means that the algorithm placed him rather low. If he can be active and boost his defensive capabilities, his knack for passing and ability to read the ebb and flow of the game should come in handy for any team willing to pick him up.
76. Harry Walker - Left Defense* - @chilidawg
With higher than average aggression, balance, hitting, and strength, there’s a feeling that Walker is looking to be a defenseman who is going to be extremely physical with the opposing team. Outside of that, he has decent defensive stats and didn’t ignore his offensive capabilities, which could serve him well when he’s not in the penalty box. Walker will benefit from staying active to get some of his weaknesses up to par with the rest of his build.
77. Soulless Ginger - Left Defense - @soullessginger
Ginger is a Defenseman who is just about even across the board. This allows for incredible flexibility in TPE usage, and while he doesn’t currently show a propensity for any specific skill aside from Speed, the potential to grow anything that’s needed to fill a gap is huge. We’ll need to see more activity from Ginger before there’s any major interest, but if he shows up, there’s an incredible upside to be found here.
78. Nolan Theurer - Right Wing* - @ntheurer
Theurer is looking to be an aggressive Winger who isn’t afraid to hit people who get in his way, which could be relatively frequently given his poor sense of positioning combined with his high aggression and balance. He’s not a liability when the puck does come to him, which is more than some of the similar builds in this draft can say. As with a large part of this class, staying active is key to getting Theurer to a point where he’s more than just a bully on the ice.
79. Am Sory - Right Wing - @soryantyler
Sory is an incredibly fast and accurate Right Wing looking to be able to make defenseman look silly by being where they aren’t to put the puck in the net. A complete disregard for defensive stats means that the algorithm did not look kindly on this build, but with some work and a focus on earning TPE, Sory could become an absolute sniper on any offense.
80. Johnny Shuffleboard - Right Defense - @mee
NBA Star Anthony Davis has shrunk, learned to skate, and has a great alias in Johnny Shuffleboard, who sticks out as a short but incredibly fast Right Defenseman. While his stats are more Offense focused than defense focused (which, as a Defenseman, hurts his Prospect Score in my calculation), there is nothing holding him back from growing into a great pickup for any locker room. The Vancouver Whalers saw some promise in Johnny and used him as a DFA for the final weeks of the season. Here’s hoping he’s as good on the ice as he is on the basketball court.
81. Max Ripoff - Left Wing - @guy
Ripoff is probably looking to live up to his name by being one of two players in the draft who are incredibly aggressive (the other being Malik Wilkins), and will probably be the definition of a brawler. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him lead the class in PIM in the next few seasons if he continues to build like an MMA fighter instead of a hockey player. In all seriousness, Ripoff is going to be a menace for opposing teams and if he shows the promise the Detroit Falcons saw in him when they picked him up as a DFA, he could be something truly special.
82. Loser Dude - Left Wing - @LoserDude
Dude is all about two things, passing and putting the other team on their backs. One of the most aggressive builds in the draft is only dwarfed by the ability to put the puck wherever he wants. Easily the best passer in the class, Dude is going to be a hit or miss (probably all hit) with the rest of his build. Very little focus on defense but instead going into Strength and Fighting, you should probably expect to see him rack up the PIM relatively quickly. Dude will need to be active and earning TPE if he hopes to even out his build a little and not be attractive as only a fighter on the ice.
83. Chris Goodname - Right Defense - @kikish18
Goodname put a lot of focus into reading the movements of the teams and the flow of the game, and more into Offense than Defense, which hurts as a Defenseman. He’s got a wealth of experience to help him make his way up through the ranks; staying active and earning TPE will be crucial for interest in him to be anything more than minimal.
84. Terrence "Big Terry" Smith - Right Defense - @Puljujarvi98
Picked up by the Colorado Raptors and so far proven to be relatively active, the only real issue the calculations have with Smith is his lack of TPE in defensive stats as a Right Defenseman. His speed is the highest in the class, but other than that and his Offensive read capability (which isn’t as necessary on a defensive player), there’s not much here to be impressed with. If he continues with his activity on the site, Smith should be able to balance out his build.
85. Conner Hutton - Right Defense - @overdoo
First Gen player Connor Hutton is another Defenseman who focused more on offensive capabilities than defensive skills, which is why he’s so far down the list. If overdoo is able to stay active and earn his TPE, he should be able to get Hutton to a spot where his offensive stats can mesh with good defensive play as well, making him an excellent two-way player; or he can stick with the offensive focus and make an excellent offensively focused defenseman.
86. Bud Light Lime Bud Light Lime - Right Defense* - @travis.stoffer
Mr. Bud Light Lime’s speed can be compared to how fast a Bud Light Lime will make you have to use the bathroom. In other words, he’s very fast. As a defenseman, he’ll be looking to utilize that speed to make use of his excellent ability to read both the offense and the defense. Without any real weaknesses for a defenseman, Bud Light Lime could be as appealing to some GMs as an actual Bud Light Lime is to your basic white person. Staying active will be key to retaining said appeal, just like how real Bud Light Lime is appealing all summer long.
87. Alexei Yashin - Center - @Lockdown Defense
This First Gen Center from Russia is looking to be a strong screener and two-way player, judging by his TPE dispersal. Created after the starting Stamina change, he was able to create a more rounded player overall, and he won’t really have to worry about sinking a lot of early TPE (assuming he stays active) into non-essential stats to become one of the stronger Centers in the class.
88. Jed Mosley Jr - Right Defense - @JayTee
Jed is a Right Defenseman who focuses on excellent pass handling and positioning, which pair well with good physical stats. A little too much focus on offense (according to the algorithm) means that he has some work to do to balance out his build for a defenseman. As a First Gen player, he has a lot to prove in order to make himself more attractive to the scouts and GMs of the league.
89. Nathan Thomas - Right Defense - @KaleSalad
One of the most balanced Defenseman builds in the draft comes from Mr. Thomas and KaleSalad. While he still has more TPE in his offensive traits, which hurts his score, due to his accuracy and range (again, these aren’t bad traits for a defenseman looking to shoot to have), his defensive skills also stand out as being very well balanced. There’s not much else to say here, and as long as he can stay active, look for Thomas to grow into a fantastic defenseman.
90. Blip Blop - Left Defense - @ThatDamnWookiee
The lowest rated actual attempt at a recreate player, Blip Blop has fallen into the same trap as many of his fellow defensemen in this class, focusing a large portion of his TPE into the offensive stats, which could be good but really hurts him in the calculations for this ranking. The fact that he has no money in the bank hurts his score as well.
91. Jonas Müller - Right Wing - @Simmie58
Defense is not forgotten in this build from newcomer Simmie58, and that could play well in a class full of Wings who are looking to be pure Offense. Müller has an excellent mind for knowing where to be and how to be a nuisance for opposing teams, whether it’s by being in the right spot or by using is excellent balance and checking to get an attacker off the puck. With some early focus of TPE into his accuracy and range when it comes to shooting, he could be a threat as long as he’s active enough to be attractive to GMs.
92. Igor Victory - Left Defense - @Wearingabear
Another defenseman who has a focus on offensive stats, victory might be out of reach for this Finnish player if he can’t find a team that needs what he’s able to provide. Decent speed and acceleration will help Victory transition from one end of the ice to the other, which is a plus, but he lacks the agility and shot-blocking to be a true annoyance to attackers.
93. Eric Garza - Left Wing - @Gmixx36
With unmatched bravery and good speed, Garza is not worried about how he's going to be treated by opposing teams, though with low balance and strength, I could see him spending as much time on his backside as on his skates. With no defensive capabilities outside of a decent hitting score, he's going to struggle while on the back foot until he puts some time and effort into getting his TPE.
94. Antoine Bergeron - Left Defense - @Yakupov64
Bergeron is hands down the best passer in this class and is heavily focused on offense, which in my calculations, is not necessarily wise for a defenseman. If Yakupov64 had put any TPE into his defensive capabilities at all, Bergeron would be higher on this list. This is always correctable with either the free redistribution or with TPE opportunities, but it’s hard to look attractive as a defensemen with no defensive skills.
95. Sam Collins - Center - @flyingmonkeys2020
Collins is built for one thing: being as fast as possible for as long as possible. His Speed and Stamina are top of the class, but that means the rest of his build is severely lacking. With only minimal interest in Offense and a slightly larger investment into Defense (mainly positioning to complement his speed), Collins is going to have to show serious commitment to making sure he doesn’t fall behind in TPE. He’ll have the opportunity to redistribute some of his stamina TPE (as he was created just before the changes), so it remains to be seen how he’ll actually turn out.
96. Neg Rep - Right Defense - @Carlz
With a build and a name made to make GM’s shy away from drafting him, it’s not hard to see why Rep is last on this list. The only player to put almost all (98%) of his TPE into one stat, it’ll be a tough sell for Carlz. He could technically use his free redistribution to balance himself into an actually useful player, which might be his only saving grace, but at this point, it doesn’t seem likely. Lol

That was a doozy! Thanks for sticking through it! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask below!

This is insane work dude. I knew you were writing a lot on it for a while, but it went beyond expectation really!

Quick note about myself however, is that I'm actually not a first gen player!
