Eric Hudson S54 Season in Review
#1

Just like last season, I tracked my S54 stats against individual teams just out of curiosity to see if there was any one team that I had some extra voodoo against, and I already had the spreadsheet set up, so why not?

To say I had a good season would be an understatement, setting career highs in Goals (9), Assists (24), Points (33) +/- (+17), SOG (80) and Blocked shots (104). I'd love to take some trophies home for this performance, but of course we're still fighting for the most important one, the Four Star Cup. I'm excited to take a look back at this banner season.

First a look at the Offensive side, as with last year, I considered +/- a "Defensive" stat, but include it in the offensive stats for context and as a tie-break/ranking tool.

1. Maine - 2 goals, 5 assists, 7 points, +8
2. Anchorage - 3 goals, 3 assists, 6 points, +5
3. Carolina - 2 goals, 4 assists, 6 points, +4
4. Colorado - 0 goals, 5 assists, 5 points, +3
5. Detroit - 0 goals, 4 assists, 4 points, -1
6. Vancouver - 1 goal, 1 assists, 2 points, +1
7. Anahiem - 0 goals, 1 assist, 1 point, +1
8. Kelowna - 0 goals, 1 assist, 1 point, Even
9. Newfoundland - 1 goal, 0 assists, 1 point, -1

Not surprisingly, this correlates relatively well to the final standings. Better performances against the teams lower in the standings, poorer performances against the teams higher in the standings. Carolina is a slight outlier with my performance being slightly better than the ranking in the standings, but my Charlotte born player just seems to have some special voodoo against the Kraken, the same thing that spawned this idea last season.

Now, onto the defensive side of the ice. I think this is where I showed the most improvement this season, which makes sense with where I invested my training moving from the 350 cap to 425 cap.

1. Carolina - 3 hits, 22 blocked shots, +4
2. Maine - 3 hits, 12 blocked shots, +8
3. Colorado - 4 hits, 13 blocked shots, +3
4. Vancouver - 0 hits, 12 blocked shots, +1
5. Kelowna - 0 hits, 10 blocked shots, Even
6. Detroit - 4 hits, 10 blocked shots, -1
7. Newfoundland - 3 hits, 11 blocked shots, -4
8. Anchorage - 1 hit, 6 blocked shots, +5
9. Anaheim - 0 hits, 7 blocked shots, +1

The defensive side is a little harder to rank, but it's interesting with both sides to see decent success against the teams we only played 4 times from the west, like Maine, Colorado, Anchorage and Vancouver, so it's not sure a pure numbers game or more stats for more games played.

Like last season, a little bit of shuffling. Carolina and Maine are fairly high on both lists, Anchorage was good offensively, bad defensively, Colorado, Vancouver and Detroit all kinda stayed in the middile. Newfoundland and Anaheim were not great on either side. Anaheim was my Achilles heel last season too. I think having two 425 capped goalies has a lot to do with that.

Now for the overall rankings, based on a rough average between the two lists.

1. Maine  - 1.5 rating
2. Carolina - 2 rating
3. Colorado - 3.5 rating
4. Vancouver - 5 rating
5. Anchorage - 5 rating
6. Detroit - 5.5 rating
7. Kelowna - 6.5 rating
8. Newfoundland - 8 rating
9. Anaheim - 8 rating

Single Game Highlights:

First Career 2 goal game - Game 11 vs Carolina (2G, 1A)
First Career Hat Trick - Game 33 vs Anchorage
100 DGR, 90 GR - Game 48 vs Newfoundland
Multi point games - Games 8, 11, 18, 22, 25, 37, 40, 44, 50
2 hits - Game 17 vs Colorado (only multi-hit game)
5 blocked shots - Games 32, 35, 38
+3 - Games 8, 12, 22, 44
First Star - Games 8, 22, 31, 50
Second Star - Games 12, 40, 44
Third Star - Game 37

There we have it. My third season in the J by the numbers.  Hopefully, I can continue to improve upon this next season. I will be the most senior active member of the Scarecrows next season, so very likely playing 1F, 1PP and 1PK.

Yeah, I just looked at Wanesley and Williams. At this point I'd be happy with a nomination.

You deserve at least a nomination.
