S55 mPT #2 - Behind the Username

So the story behind my name is long and boring but ill shorten it. When I was growing up and even now, I am a big nerd. I love politics, I love history, I love playing online games. When I was about 12, I found a political themed game on AOL. Remember AOL? Anyway, they needed a character name, similar to how you create a player. I was doing homework on the Cold War and was reading about a general named Vandenberg so I made my name 'Eric Vanderberg'. 20 years later, that's still the name I use for all my internet games. It used to be very formal, id make my screens "Eric Vanderberg" but then as I got older I was like, that's stupid, ill just use Vandy. Games like that get to be incestuous, by that I mean the same people play the same games for years so nicknames are more than enough to identify who is who. So, that's where Vandy comes from.

Hint: Its not even anywhere close to my real name, which makes it even better when people try to dox you over a video game.

KlusteR has effectively been my online "front face" for the better part of the last 15 years. All I did was change a letter to the word "cluster", as in "server cluster" (as these were the early days of virtualization and blade servers). I felt like it had a nice phonetic ring to it, as well as giving a kind of analogy of the person I am - an amalgam of information that I draw from various nodes, and try to unify as much as I can. Or as I like to say, "I'm a Bard IRL".

Special thanks to @Carpy48, @Chevy, @Turd Ferguson, @fever95 and @enigmatic for the signatures!

Well, a long time ago, one of my friends made a joke about a fuzzy sweatshirt, and I made my PSN username Fuzzy as a joke about that. Over the years, it has just become Fuzz, and with this being the SHL, well, put the two together and you get FuzzSHL

So back in season 27 or something, I played for Eggy in Montreal. He teased a major trade or announcement, so I kept pestering him about it. I said I'd change my username to MyLittleHexx if he did, and it was then I noticed he had already announced it. So I changed my username and have been too lazy to change it back

There is a small story behind my username, but not in the way you might think. The basis for my username is my real life name. My real life name is Rich. However, when I first joined the site, I was Rich701. I was used to adding 701 to my username because in most things with any decent sized user base, simply ‘Rich’ would be taken. So I used Rich701 for a bunch of things. Little did I know that there was a user who went by 701 already in the league. 701 is an area code in the state we were both from, North Dakota. After I had been around the league for a little while, and had made enough money that I could justify changing my username, I had the 701 removed.

I used to play CoD with a guy by the name of CAMPIN_KILLER68, and we were good buds. One day I started PC gaming and stole a version of his username cause it was better than my username

Well, my username has evolved slightly over the years. At first I used lasrcomet19 for xbox, then as time went on and I slowly started to get pretty good at some games I changed it to VRTX L4S3R to indicate a clan tag when I wasn't actually in a clan. When I signed up for ISFL, I used that as my username, but I had about 12 variations of what people called me, from Vert to VRTX to Laser to VL, that I decided to change my username there and in PBE to Laser. I'm just waiting til I have the money to do it here.

Well believe it or not my real name is Raymond. As for the 3000? I honestly have no clue. I came up with that when I was a kid, and I've stopped using raymond3000 as my display name many years ago. I've meant to change my username to just Raymond for a while now, but just haven't gotten around to it.

It evolved from playing Counter Strike 1.5 in high school. Used to be a bunch of different things, and then one day I decided mixing a werewolf and a tarantula would be dope.
Pretty straight forward honestly.

Not that great of a story was part of a hockey pool and basically everyone chose a name of a player on their team and made a funny name out of it. Examples being Hartattack, Dwayne the Brock Johnson and so on. I was really struggling to come up with a name I had taken Cale Makar and remembered the Kale Salad being help up in support of him with his name and decided to roll with it. CaleSalad was to weird to look at and I would never remember how to spell it so went with KaleSalad to honour it instead.

some high fibre sigs are Powered by AllBran,

This is actually a fun mpt ngl. So the name Peej comes from my nickname being Panda Jr. Which got shortened to PJ, then to Peej (Peedge). The numbers 2189 is my pin number in my fraternity. I have started using it in everything since I got initiated Spring of 2018. So in many places I have changed my name to Peej2189 or some variation. Before I went by this screen name though I was going by NovaFantom. Just some name I found in a random name picker when I was making my minecraft account in 2012 lol.
That is why my players name is Panda though, just to give myself some attachment to the league.

Dave Semenko was "CementHead" - the legendary oilers protector in the 80's - and this is a blend of CementHead Semenko, and "Hands of Stone" - the famous boxer Roberto Duran. Karl definitely emulates both these guys on the ice as I want him to play like a fully loaded freight train.

Shouldn't you guys know what being "ferda" is? No? Geez, you guys are a hockey site for goodness sake.

Well, ferda is hockey slang for when you're doing something "for the boys" or "for the team".

The term "ferda" has always been popular in hockey because you need to emphasize teamwork in order for your team to have the most success.

Why did I choose this name? Well, it's simple. If you've ever talked to me on Discord or on the site, you can quickly tell that I am definitely ferda. I don't let my boys down and I always go hard 100%. Do or die. All or nothing. Ferda.

Just remember to always wheel, snipe, celly and always go bar downskis, ferda.

Now pitter patter.

Jericson is actually from what my name is. Having a common name (for my generation), I have gone by various nicknames. In high school, it was simply my last name. However, in college the group I used to play League of Legends with started calling me Jericson and it has stuck ever since, even these 10 years later.

Looking back at my almost nine years as part of the SHL, I do not know why thirteen year old Darian thought leafstw1967 would be a great username. At the time this was my PSN for PlayStation 3 and copied it over to SHL. As a big leafs fan I wanted to has leafs in my username but the ftw1967 part almost seems like a troll looking back now as it is a reminder of the fifty plus year since Toronto has won the Stanley Cup.
