This seasons playoff theme song is "Banana" by Conkarah Ft Shaggy because it is a bop of a tune. The song is catchy and will make the viewers bop their heads everytime. The commercial will be more of a hype video type featuring highlights from the SHL season from big goals to big hits. It will include all the SHL teams currently in the playoffs and particuluarly feature some of the leagues top players like Dick Clapper, Monkey D Luffy, Theo Morgan and many more. It will also include SHL players Jukka Timonen, Corey Kennedy, Rintarou Okabe and Martijn Westbroek doing the Banana drop dance from the popular app tik tok. This commerical. The purpose is to engage some of their young viewers and bring more eyes to the game. Using current trends like the Banana drop is a marketing ploy for the league to gain some viewers they normally wouldnot reach. The end of the commericial will show the message - "Whose Banana will be requested next (As in whose going to win the Challenge Cup)? and will end with people dressed in Banana costumes skating in a circle.

Aight for this commercial it's gonna feature Lil Jon's 2013 hit single "Turn Down for What", but every 'what' is replaced by Gilbert Gottfried yelling 'PLAYOFFS'. Each team will feature a representative for the commercial. Monkey D Luffy from Buffalo, Corey Kennedy from Chicago, etc. They will all be dancing on stripper poles in the opening shot. On screen will flash "SHL PLAYOFFS". Then "SEASON 55".

The screen is dark. The lights turn on and there is a spotlight on each of the representatives on the ice. The camera pans around them all in a circle. Manhattan's representative, Ola Wagstrom, is nowhere to be found. The lights go out once more.

The stadium is now fully lit, and the battle begins. Players start beating the snot out of each other. Mike Izzy breaks a stick over Julio Tokolosh's large cow head but Julio is unfazed. Kennedy takes a swing at Luffy but falls over. Eventually we are left with Jimmy Slothface, proudly standing over a small pile of players. But just before the commercial cuts out, we see Andreas Kvalheim leap from off-screen and tackle him.

"WHO WILL SURVIVE?"

The commercial would feature players from Manhattan, Buffalo, New Orleans, and Edmonton for 25 out of 30 seconds. A smattering of moments from Chicago, Hamilton, and Texas will make up the other 5 seconds (Calgary will appear three times in clips, all Kata Vilde getting lit up by the opposing team, to mimic how New Orleans will make him look in their first round series).

There will also be a second version that only has those four teams for the second round on, because anyone who thinks the under seeds are winning a series are silly. This is coming down to the four teams that fought for the President’s Trophy, and the rest will win a few games, but I’m not holding my breath on an upset. The Rage, Stampede, Specters, and Blizzard were the crown jewels of the league, and they’ll back it up with their play.

If I have to pick a song, I guess we’ll go Alive by Krewella. I don’t have a good reason. Maybe Royals by Lorde, but I think the energy of Krewella’s a better call. It’s less likely to piss people off after three games (imagine hearing Royals on repeat for a couple weeks. Thank me later I won’t force that upon you).
------

Let the record reflect I think this is, alongside the casino PT, probably the least enjoyable PT of my entire career on the site. Please no more of these.

Written Task (150 words min.):Describe the TV commercial you've designed to promote this season's playoffs. What music will accompany the commercial (remember this is something that people will be hearing over and over again throughout the playoffs)? What teams/players/messages will you feature?

The commercial opens to LMFAO's hit single, Shots ft. Little Jon - with a bored guy sitting at home on the recliner flipping through channels. When he flips to the SHL Network channel - Little Jon tells him to "Get ready to get turned up!" - and then the song starts, remixed for the playoffs:

When I walk in the rink
All eyes on me
I'm with the skating crew
All drinks are free
We like Gatorade, we love Pickle Juice
We came to play hockey
Everybody its on
Shots shots shots shots shots shots
Shots shots shots shots shots
Shots shots shots shots shots

The video starts with players walking down the tunnel and then stepping on the ice, skating off powerfully. When the famous chorus that everyone knows starts, the video starts cutting to players blasting the puck - doesn't matter if it's hard bombs from the point, wristers from the dot - all kinds of shots are represented, showing the exciting action and amazing shots that will happen during the post-season. The players and teams that are represented in the video will be the ones that are competing in the post-season of course, with some household name superstars such as Rex Kirkby, Luke Thomason, Augustus Wang, Ola Wagstrom, Tony Pepperoni and Andreas Kvalheim getting most of the time on screen. The last scene before the end of the ad would be the call to the chorus - "EVERYBODYYYY!" before it cuts to black, leaving people thinking the chorus in their minds.

So I really tried to make an audio clip of myself saying "playoffs" over a Rae Sremmurd song but realized that I'm pretty damn incompetent when it comes to Audacity. For my last playoff run in the SMJHL, the ad campaign will be centred around a few key players for the Knights. We wouldn't have been able to make it this far without Daniel Laforest, so he will be front and centre in many ads. I would probably choose to have "Boys are Back" by The Dropkick Murphys as the main song playing, and have the message behind the ad being that the Knights have returned to the forefront of the Western Conference and are back and ready to roll. Justin Keahi will also have a presence in the ads, as he's just a scary individual to begin with. If I saw my opponent's ad with a player like Justin in it, I know that I'd be scared shitless for the upcoming series.

Well, Luffy Richard here, and let me tell you about a little diddy by some good old Canadian boys in a band called 3 Inches of Blood. The song, off of their excellent album Long Live Heavy Metal, is called "Leave it on the Ice," which is about playing your balls off and leaving everything on the ice. I don't know how you can't get more pumped up than having a bearded, denim-clad man falsettoing your team to greatness?

Now, this song would of course be played over video of the team in their pee wee years doing the best they can, because I think that juxtaposition would be glorious. Plus, who doesn't like kids falling over?

Well the chorus for the song is very poetic and goes as follows

The challenge made
Leave it on the ice
Defend your team
Leave it on the ice

I would replace the "leave it on the ice" with Don Cherry saying its the play offs, because he's cheap and available. being cost effective is important. I would feature video of the players whose teams didn't make the play-offs because I don't want them to feel left out. And that's about it. nothing too extravagant, just good old nonsense to get the fans ready for the most wonderful time of the year.

the play offs.

here is music for your pleasant listenings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7xOGxmzd6Q

I think you will find the music is fitting for good family programing.

(Music : The portion between 0:17 and 1:10 of the song Absit Omen, by Australian Melodic Death Metal artists Be'lakor. The sample from 0:59 to 1:10 can be used as a fade out to the minute-long ad, by repeating it over the growls, and fading it out for the last 7 seconds.)

The ad starts as the screen is black, save for the words "The time for farewells..." in bright blue with deep purple shading.

A somber melody of a high string violin starts hitting you as the images of Benjamin Blue in his prime, with a Barracuda uniform, flashing save after save, transitioning to Joe Kurczewski, from a spring chicken in Calgary, to lifting the Challenge Cup surrounded by his Specters teammates, and EVO in a Renegades, then a Pride uniform, are being broadcasted straight to your retinas. Those retirees, those veterans of the game, they won't be there...

Another cut to a black background and the words "...will have to wait." appear in bright white highlighted by a reddish hue. The words stay there until the song transitions, at 0:34.

The guitars, the bass and the drums start taking over. Within the first second, you can see Mike Izzy, with his legendary smile, flashing a wink to Jon Forty-One of the Edmonton Blizzard, who promptly starts going after him - quick cut to an outlet pass from Brennan Kennedy Jr. through the Texas defense leaving Maxime Bouchard all alone in front of a helpless White Goodman, and then the Calgary Dragons logo appears and disappears within a second. The riff keeps transporting you through the Western Conference, as you see a quick cut of Aleister Cain frustrating Julio Tokolosh with a pad save, Jimmy Slothface dangling and relaying a perfect pass to Rex Kirkby who roofs it on Kata Vilde, and the New Orleans Specters logo flashes in for a brief moment. We then see combination play between the deadly Edmonton powerplay, crowned by a snipe by Theo Morgan - and then a crunching hit from Tor Tuck, which flips an unsuspecting Josef Kubinec forward with his momentum, and the Edmonton Blizzard logo is the next one to flash in. As the bar of the song seems to be on the verge of being concluded, you see Piotr Czerkawski and Andreas Kvalheim on a 2-on-1, with Kvalheim finishing the move with a sweet wrister over Emiko Spector's glove, and then a bullish Björn Leppänen pushing an insisting Boris Poroshenko away from a smiling White Goodman, and the Texas Renegades logo flashes in, rounding out our 4 Western Conference teams at around 0:46 on the song.

The second bar of the riff kicks in to show a slideshow of Cassius Darrow perfectly relaying a pass to a wide open Monkey D. Luffy, who snipes it short side on Peter Larson, transition to a 2-on-1 between Bobby Sharp and Eko Van Otter that is finished 5-hole on A Jobin, and a quick flash of the leather from Elizabeth Doyle to see the Buffalo Stampede logo appear alongside it. Another transition brings us to a relay from Martijn Westbroek right into the windmill of Parker Smeb, who smokes it past A Jobin's open glove - followed by two back-to-back saves on an insisting Robert Phelps by Tibuk Soonika, with Corey Kennedy and Lallo Selman rushing to his aid, as the Chicago Syndicate logo comes into view momentarily. Onward we continue to a quick cut of Ola Wagstrom & Luke Thomason moves to score beauties each, to a huge kick save by Peter Larson on Matt Kholin, followed up by a cleanup of the front of the net by Barret McCarthy, and the Manhattan Rage logo slides into view. And last, but not least, we see a surging Aaron Wilson juggling past Akira Ren, sliding a delicious saucer pass to Flacko Lagerfield, who roofs it on Soonika's blocker side, followed by shots of Guy Zheng and Tig Murphy crunching people to the boards and helping out on rebounds by A Jobin while the Hamilton Steelhawks logo appears, at around the 0:58 mark.

Another fade to a black background as the song kicks into overdrive and the double bass drums pumps adrenaline into your veins - you see it, in all its beauty, the Challenge Cup, as if illuminated by a halo of purple light. 5 seconds later, the words "In the 55th SHL Playoffs..." in bright white to further draw in the viewer stay for 3 seconds, then "...who will win it all?" as the 8 logos gradually appear from the blackened background until the end of the spot.

... Okay, that was a hell of a write-up. Hope you enjoy, whoever reads this.

These days it's all about saying or doing something unexpected to create a viral hit. How am I going to do that? Here's how-- we get OLD PEOPLE to say something RUDE. You know old people? They're all so sweet and nice. But for the SHL playoffs, we'll find some old people that have a bit of edge, and get them in a close up saying something like "I fucking love the SHL playoffs!" and then we post that on Twitter. Bing bang boom, 6 seconds, we're done. It can even run as a YouTube pre-roll at that length. Two-for-one baby!

Maybe we do one with a tumbleweed old couple that's like "We like to fuck during the SHL playoffs!" Woof! I can just imagine the Zoomers sharing that one! Think of the numbers, and the remixes! Like they'll pull the video and then put their own words at the end, like "We like to fuck during homework!" or whatever. Shit like that that the kids want to parody. If you get an old enough person and a raunchy enough sentence, it's guaranteed viral. I'd stake my career on it.

The world wide broadcast begins with past legendary play by play announcers at a relatively low sound to louder and louder until eventually faded out and the intro song kicks in.  Intro Music.  As the music starts the TV screen shifts to a giant scoreboard with replays playing of the meanest and biggest hits of the season.  Leaving hockey players laid out on the ice or escorted by referees with bloodied jerseys.  P.Smeb, Rush, Shepard, Izzy, Krashwagon, Morgan, Passamus and on and on.

Then as the intro song ends a new theme song begins Theme Song begins and as you can tell with the fast paced music comes some high level fast paced highlight reel goals and some backstopping elite goaltending! Leading it off with the elite sniper Theo Morgan and MonkeyD. Luffy setting the stage to other great plays throughout the S55 campaign.  Lets not forget the goaloies in all this, as Spector, Larson and Doyle highlight the goalie saves.

I think this is pretty easy for Anchorage, after a season to forget last season, they have come out much stronger and are looking for a long playoff run. As much as I want to write about Nickleback cause that is the power of the Armada, Bloos already wrote about it.

This season, the Anchorage Armada will come out onto the ice playing their promotional commercial were on a boat by T-Pain in all its glory. The video will have different cameos of players on the boat, doing different activities that the navy would do during a mission. As the commercial continues it will lead to a scene where the boys set sail on the boat, the screen will fade to black and a boat prop will be lowered onto the ice for the Armada to skate out of. As they hit the ice the song will switch a long auto tune sequence of t pain saying "boaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat gang, im on a boat"

A black screen slowly comes to life with black and white footage from the 55th season of the SHL set to some serious sounding tones playing accentuating the seriousness of the battle for the cup. After 10 seconds of big hits, blocked shots, dangles, close ups of guys in pain we hear a familiar electronic drum fill bringing the screen alive with color

That's right we just rick rolled the whole god damn SHL fan base.

The once serious monochromatic drudge of a commercial now shows the lighter side of the SHL. Guys messing with each other in post game interviews, blooper reel highlights, mascot antics. Rick Astley himself has agreed to come in and re record some lyrics to be SHL centric. The closing of the commercial is video of every captain lifting the cup in celebration from season 1 to 54 then cut to black.

Tonight....

Cut to skates hitting the ice, pucks being thrown down for warm up

Gonna have myself, a real good time. I feel ali-i-i-iveee

Hitting posts and in, skating and doing warm up things

And the worlddddd i'll turn it inside out yeah

And floating around in ecstacy

Players exiting bench to the locker room

So don't stop me now

Slothface scores

Don't stop me

Cloutier snipe

Cuz I'm having a good time, having a good time...

Cain save

Supercut of season highlights cut to Don't Stop Me Now, creating hype and highlight reel to prepare for s55 playoffs. The message will be about the returning champions defending their title. First highlights are against Calgary, then a bunch against Texas and Edmonton, before finally showing Eastern teams such as Manhattan, Hamilton, Chicago and Buffalo. Lots of goals by the top line, Manius, Williams, and especially Kirkby, the new addition
