Registered Probably shouldn't be a GM
Just a tiny bit different now that my player isn't involved, and dare I say a little bit more fun. It was a fun season with a lot of these guys, and I'm personally very happy I got to meet them all, and get to know them throughout the course of this season.
I've tried to keep the actual reports about their players, well, about their players. But, I think that does them a little bit of injustice. In the end, it isn't about player performance that gets you into the SHL, it is about the character and personality someone brings, and I'd gladly vouch for any of them. So, at the end of the article there is a little piece about/for each of them. Now for a second time, without further ado, let's get into our Carolina Kraken Prospect Reports. Aleksander Kozlov - @FlappyGiraffe
Date of Birth - Jun. 24, 2002
Place of Birth - St. Petersburg, RUS
Nation - Russia
Position - C
Height - 6'2"
Weight - 208lbs.
Shoots - L
Drafted - S55, #5 overall by Carolina Kraken
Eligible for S56 SHL Entry Draft
This class was sorta kinda disappointing with the rankings this year. TPE only? Don't want that. Oh well.
Aleksander Kozlov was one of the top players heading into the SMJHL Draft, and according to many, one of the more skilled players heading in. Now, he is one of the more skilled players heading into the SHL Draft, and it is quite hard to argue he is not worthy of a top pick. Kozlov wasted no time to make an impact in Carolina, as we ending up with 10 goals, good for 8th on the team. As a rookie. He was a key part of the second powerplay unit during the season, and even had a taste of the penalty kill. He was a large piece in what was the Kraken's recent playoff run, and his versatility, hard work, and discipline will allow him to become a strong player for the Kraken in his junior years, and continue on to be a star in the SHL. "Kozzy is the kind of player you see out there and you assume he’s going up to the SHL next year, He’s composed on the ice, he reads the play effectively at both ends of the ice. He feels like a veteran, especially with his work killing penalties. He’s got a wicked shot and a great first step that pairs well with his ability to anticipate the play. He doesn’t play the body a whole lot but he doesn’t need to with an active stick that pairs well with solid passes. An overall great player with balanced talents, I don’t see how he even makes it out of the top 3 of the draft." - @Mazatt
"Kozlov has been crushing it this season and has truly developed into one of the better all-around performers for us. He took advantage of the opportunities that he had and I have zero doubt in mind that he will become a cornerstone for the Kraken throughout his time in juniors." - @FuzzSHL "Kozlov is definitely one of the most complete prospects I've seen come through the J system. He's got the physicality, hands, and game IQ to take over the next level. I personally think he's that lock for 1OA that the last few years haven't really had. His first season here in Carolina was great and I'm looking forward to what he can bring to the table once he's not a rookie." - @sve7en Strengths

Adrian Ayers - @gordieboom
Date of Birth - May 9, 2002
Place of Birth - Ayr, SCT Nation - Scotland Position - W Height - 6'2" Weight - 211lbs. Shoots - R Drafted - S55, #27 overall by Carolina Kraken Eligible for S56 SHL Entry Draft
Adrian Ayers looked to be a promising prospect in the early part of the season, but it slowly got clear that he as a player had things he needed to deal with. First with an announcement to straight retire, then a promise to come back and play out the juniors, it has been a difficult situation for everyone involved, mostly Ayers and his team. "Ayers was looking so promising as the season started. There had been rumors about his relatives' past in the league, but he seemed to shale away the doubters without a thought. News broke of some unfortunate circumstances in the bigs and we haven't heard from him since. The team misses him, and we hope to see him return." - @FuzzSHL

Grape Fruit - @canes2112
Date of Birth - Feb. 13, 2002
Place of Birth - Raleigh, USA
Nation - United States
Position - LW
Height - 5'10"
Weight - 190lbs.
Shoots - L
Drafted - S55, #46 overall by Carolina Kraken
Eligible for S56 SHL Entry Draft
Grape Fruit was another player who had a great rookie season with the Carolina Kraken this year, since the very beginning he was adamant on being the type of guy that can create offense in any form, whether he is putting the puck in the net himself, or setting up his teammates to get a tally or two. He had sheltered minutes, and will only show how great of a player he is next season, once he gets a taste of some special teams, or just more even strength opportunities. He might have to improve his defensive game, as well as physicality over the offseason just to keep up to the league, but he'll have no problem doing what he does best. If a team drafts him, they're drafting him to score, anything more is icing on the cake. "Grape’s offense impresses in every aspect. He’s great up tight with good hands close to the net--really good at locating within the slot as well. He’s especially dangerous in the slot with his solid passing ability mixed with his play reading abilities which have led to a whole team going down to block his shot that turns into a no-look pass. That’s on top of great edge work and acceleration, though his entire physical acumen is impressive. He can be a top scorer in the big leagues, though the only concern will be his defensive game. 19 points as a rookie makes up for those deficiencies though, especially with no special teams ice time. No matter where he’s taken, Groot is gonna be a solid grab." - @Mazatt
"Grape was a very nice surprise for us. We loved his performance at the combine but other scouts weren't entirely sure about his ceiling and his drive. I think he's proven the doubters wrong and I am extremely excited to see his progression continue to give other teams a reason for regret." - @FuzzSHL "Fruit is one of those guys that kinda resembles how you need citrus in cooking. He's got a bite to him that is hard to find, and falling so far into the J draft put a chip on his shoulder that will carry him far in the league. He's got a good taste for the game and will surely be flying up SHL boards this week." - @sve7en Strengths

Ragnar-Alexandre Ragnarsson-Tremblay - @LarryTheMVP
Date of Birth - Apr. 25, 2002
Place of Birth - Unknown, FIN
Nation - Finland
Position - G
Height - 6'3"
Weight - 220lbs.
Catches - L
Drafted - S55, #61 overall by Carolina Kraken
Eligible for S56 SHL Entry Draft
#6 by Matteo - S56 SMJHL Goalie Rankings
Ragnar-Alexandre Ragnarsson-Tremblay made waves in the SMJHL season, putting up crazy good numbers as a rookie, being just short of franchise records, alongside Blunt Man. He seems to already have an idea of what you need to do to be successful as a goalie in this league. RART has great reflexes, and his only real flaw is his skating, which is easily countered by the incredible amount of time he has spent working on his positioning, and game read. He isn't fazed easily, and it allows him to keep the team in front of him in the game at all times, even if they're down. It will be interesting to see how the rest of his career plays out, but very exciting at the very least. "Man, what is there to say about Ragnar-Alexandre Ragnarsson-Tremblay? As a rookie, he puts up great numbers, only lost two games, a shutout, .913 sv%--really, what is there to say? He is a horse back there, and with Blunt Man in front of him his relative lack of fitness isn’t much of a concern. Instead of focusing on cardio, RART relies on steady positioning complimented by fantastic reflexes. Really, just solid as a rock in net with great balance in all his attributes, making it impossible to abuse any of his flaws. Real good pro." - @Mazatt
"It has been a long time since I've seen a performance of this caliber out of a true rookie netminder. While he fell just short of the minimum start count for our franchise leaders, he tied Blunt Man for the 2nd best all-time goals allowed average as a rookie. While most teams might look for a way to trade one of their goalies, I don't see either of our netminders leaving us for any reason other than the big leagues." - @FuzzSHL "Ragnar-Alexandre Ragnarsson-Tremblay was a late round steal, falling in the draft last season despite his family pedigree. He had one of the best rookie goaltending scenarios to fall into, under the wing of Blunt Man, and that really fortified the mental game of the young netminder. He's flexible, adaptable, and a great presence to man the bench door week in and week out, but he's also a bona fide top guy that could do so much more than the 1a-1b situation in Carolina." - @sve7en Strengths

Like I said at the start of the article, it isn't the players that matter, it is the actual user. I realized that pretty quick through the Carolina Kraken Organization, and now my season in the New Orleans Specters Organization, and I'm pretty happy with the people I've met so far. It would be unfair to try and sell these guys to SHL teams without speaking to how great of people they are, because that is what makes the difference. So here we go, I suppose;
@FlappyGiraffe I would be lying if I said he was the most active on our team, but I can say he is one of the bigger contributors. Within a week this guys came in with revamped stuff for his new teammates to use, including the likes of a team-only index (instead of searching "CAR" and continually hoping guys like Alexander Oscarsson stop showing up). Pinned to the main channel, it saves time as well, and while it is not necessary to say, I was impressed. He works hard on the league, which is shown in his TPE levels thus far, and he makes great graphic media, with the humility to take some time and give me some pointers. Probably not easy to hold back a few insults, I'll tell you. Flappy is a great, relaxed dude, and will make a difference wherever he goes, I am very confident in saying that. Good luck at the draft, man. @gordieboom Gordie, if you end up seeing this, want you to know that it sucks to see how things went in the later part of this season. Even if your player brought nothing, you were such a pleasant guy to have in our locker room, and while I know you've heard this more than enough times, your "good mornings" every one of my nights was a great thing to have. You always had a positive attitude, always had something nice to say, and wish you stayed with it a little longer, even with what went down. I know you said you wouldn't go to the SHL regardless, but for an article dedicated to our rookie class I didn't want to leave you out. Hope all is still going well since the last time I reached out. @canes2112 Putting it all out there, when @TheDangaZone saw you create at midnight before draft day, I don't think I was expecting a whole lot going in. However, since first contact you have been such a cheerful (or at least seemingly) guy, and I am so happy that first, we were able to grab you, and second, you became what we hoped you could be. You're a joy to have, and I'm sure some of the guys appreciate another Hurricanes fan. Keep doing what you're doing and have fun, it is quite obviously working. I'm glad I was able to coin the nickname "Groot", probably the best I've come up with, and likely the best on the team, in my opinion. @LarryTheMVP It's so great to have you already looking ahead to making an impact in the SHL, I can tell you enjoy the league, and it is an extra bonus that you love the team you're on. You've been great to talk to, and always make the locker room a better place while we're watching the daily games. Even in the dome watching the NHL games, although someone was usually upset, myself more often at night when the Canucks were on. Like I have probably said too many times in this article already, I'm glad we got you, and you're going to make a good difference for whatever team grabs you. Just be patient with it.
