If I knew what I know now, going into that trade, I wouldn't have accepted it, and that's not a slight on the players we got back. Otrebor and JT are both great locker room guys, and I have genuinely loved having them on the team, but with no cup win and no extension for Morgan I would in hindsight call it arguably my worst trade ever.

That being said, the trade is bad because Morgan left, yes. But when making the trade we had the impression that we could afford both Toner and Otrebor leaving because of how much of our core was locked in for the foreseeable future (Maybe not contractually but I'm sure you can relate as a manager when you have those few guys that it is just a given that they will re-sign with you.) We had what we thought was five defensemen locked in, as well as 7 forwards and three really talented prospects in the wings. Our roster was "locked in" to the point of we didn't feel a strong need to continue stockpiling prospects after three successful drafts stocking the cupboards.

What in hindsight made this trade hurt a lot more was the unforeseen loss of McIntyre and Tuck, purely because we don't really have a ton of assets to replace the position at this point outside of trading prospects which I am not really keen on doing, though success at the highest level is always what is most important.

Tuck was just a brutal miscommunication that I think we can both admit at this point got blown out of proportion but after the reprimands had been made he felt as though the damage was done and it was best he move on. I wish him well, I still consider him a friend and would have loved Tuck to retire a member of the Blizzard but he again is his own person and if he truly feels how he does about me then it absolutely is his right to leave unfortunately.

How do you see the West playing out this season? Some teams have lost a lot this season (EDM/NOLA/LAP) and others are getting effing old (CGY).

Considering the changes to cap structure and contract rules, do you think Atlanta and Seattle should have been granted a chance to grandfather their GMs into HTCs, rather than carrying an effective cap penalty of $1-4 million into this next season?

I still don't know Seattle's final roster, but from what I can capture in a glance they're lacking the forward depth necessary to compete with the Edmonton's, Calgary's, and the New Orlean's of the world. I think the West at the end of next season barring any trades will be something along the lines of:

Edmonton
New Orleans
Calgary
Texas
Winnipeg
Seattle
Los Angeles
Minnesota
San Francisco

I could see New Orleans falling further dependant on the re-signing of Cain and Kirkby, they were two pretty important pieces of their puzzle. I think Edmonton stays on top but without the distance from New Orleans they had next season.

I could see the arguments from both sides, but in the past it has always been that they have to trade for their home town discounts for the first six seasons, if I were a manager of one of those two teams and looking to compete I would talk to the players that were with franchises for a long time and entertain the idea of a sign and trade to acquire a home town discount. I wouldn't refer to it as a cap penalty though, you have to account for the extra prospects teams have that they're paying as well.

It's going to sound stupid when I eventually bring this back around to you, but I have always always always absolutely loved Karey's work I think he does some of the best graphics works I have ever seen and I've been around signatures a long time.

Wasty has also been a great graphic designer on the site for a long time, but I haven't seen his work much in the last three of four seasons.

Turd's took the graphics section by storm again and I love his work too, but I don't know how much he is around anymore.

and finally Noka, you've improved leaps and bounds since you initially started, and I genuinely believe the work you're showing off recently in Edmonton's discord are a totally different style than anything Wasty, Karey or Turd have done, but you do what you do so incredibly well. I love the vibes your latest work gives off.

I'd call those my top 4 right now, but I'm sure I'm missing someone elite.

On a more serious note: Lots of teams have had new GMs and/or Co-GMs. What are your thoughts on this?

I'm going to sound ridiculous saying this because everyone always complained about this in regards to STHS but I think the biggest flaw in my experience with FHM would have to be the lack of variance team to team, with Simon T there was always that weird outside chance that some totally out of the blue team snags the last playoff slot, but I don't really feel as though that's possible with FHM and that's become more and more evident with the fact that people are scoring higher than ever before on season predictions. In the past it was like "Oh fuck yeah, I got 6 on predictions" and now it's almost disappointing to get less than 10 or 11.

In less words FHM to an extent makes the regular season somewhat a drag for those lower ranked teams cause it's just a means to an end.

You can ask @SDCore just last week I was one or two comments from hanging up the suit as a manager, but sometimes you gotta take those deep breaths and reassess why you're doing it, if you do not enjoy management don't stay out of obligation because in all honesty, you're probably doing the team an overall disservice.

I always try to wait until all the questions are done coming in because often times I will just have a stroke of bad luck and I won't answer a question for 12-15 hours and it gets graded before I can answer every question in the thread.

I mean I think it's nice because it's a breath of fresh air with a lot of teams, but it's a shame how a lot of the new manager had to come to be. I would be incredibly frustrated if my manager got fired for a mistake caused by someone doing their job poorly, and no I'm not talking about Head Office. I'd also be incredibly frustrated if my manager just rage quit because someone didn't like their trade. I really respect @dankoa for admitting that management was something that was becoming a bit too time-consuming for his liking and stepping down because he felt it was best for the franchise.

I feel for the head office too because a lot of these postings came at really inopportune times.

I guess in summary I love the opportunity to meet new people through management, but it's a shame that some of the turnover came from less than ideal situations.
