S56 PT #5 - Halloween Party

The Maine Timber celebrate the spooky holiday also known as Halloween in a spectacular fashion!
Dressing up is a really fun time and obviously you want to make sure that you have a great costume ahead, Calvin Hobbes dressed up as the famous tiger Hobbes from the series after which he's named.
The entire team showed up in great costumes, everyone trying to loosen up and have a great time ahead of the play offs and the serious couple of weeks ahead.
The rookie initiation is always a team favorite, the rookies have to chop down as many trees as they can in 30 minutes, all while having drinks between each cut at the tree. More drinks whenever a fellow rookie fells a tree.
Luckily so far no one has been injured or lost any fingers from the shenanigans.

Sean Gatez made a great impression this year with many fancy drinks being mixed for the team and the food is as always amazing when JR95 has prepared it for the team.

This year's Halloween party for the New Orleans Specters looked like it might be a little more somber than the previous years. Having just lost to the Atlanta Inferno in the playoffs, a lot of people were not overly jazzed about a party. But as one of the alternate captains, Lyle Odelein III, wasn't having any of that. He went out a purchased extra candy and booze to make sure everyone would have a good time. He said that since they are the only actual spooky team in the SHL, they had to lead by example. He asked his alternate captain counterpart to do a joint costume this year and they chose to go as Harry and Lloyd, from the movie Dumb and Dumber, in their iconic blue and orange tuxedos. The night went over very well and everyone really enjoyed themselves, even when DeMaricus Smyth drop by dressed as one of the Ghostbusters. The legendary Specter player had everyone laughing as he broke out his proton pack and tried to take down all of the Specters, again.

With all the very... cheesy names in his line-up, and to also demonstrate that he's capable of auto-derision, Markus dressed up as a Swiss cheese (with pucks inside the holes) to the Monarchs' Halloween party. This was highly unusual, for usually Markus prefers to imitate an historical figure of some sort - part of his family's background, after all. But since Cal decided to dress up as literal Mac & Cheese, the duo distributed cheesy puns throughout the evening, and it only got worse once the rookies arrived with even more booze to share. Thankfully, everyone kept their cell phones away, so there were no Instagram posts of Markus attempting to break dance with the cheese outfit still on, or attempting to jump from the top of the roof into the pool in Collin Gibbles' backyard - and almost succeeding on the first try... thankfully, the costume was bouncy enough to deflect him into the pool.

The worse part of the evening was having the rookies explain to the MPD why there was a giant cheese haphazardly choking next to the pool at 2 AM.

What was absolutely mind blowing about halloween this year was that, a lot like a majority of the United States of America, the Detroit Falcons held an absolute rager like Covid was never a thing. As is tradition with the Detroit Falcons Halloween parties, there is always a collection of peregrine Falcons that several players rent from a local shelter, which they bring and their costume as falcon tamers or whatever those falconey people are called that train falcons. So to the party shows up rookies Mikhail Borisnoff, Anton Mihailov, Wen Baters, and Jonnathan Granstrom looking terrified as ever with these giant peregrine falcons sitting on their shoulders. The players in classic ribbing fashion tell them to start doing tricks with them like the veterans do every year where they tell them to teach the falcons to grab beer off the table for a player, or dive down and collect cheetos off the floor. Well this year this ribbing went horribly wrong. Long story short, Wen Baters is dead and the cops have detained the Falcons players for further questionning

For this year's halloween party Slimey Snail wasn’t sure what he should dress up as at first but with how much hitting he had been doing during the games and with how short he was and how much he weighed he figured that a bowling ball would be a fitting costume. Sadly it seemed that the amount of hitting he was doing starting to affect his thinking. Dressing up as a bowling ball was enough for Snail to think that anyone wearing a somewhat white costume was a bowling pin and it was his job to knock them down. This ended up being a big issue since there were plenty of people dressed up as ghosts at the party and Snail just couldn’t control himself and was constantly knocking people over. Eventually the problem solved itself when Snail tried to run into someone but missed and hit his head on the wall which was enough for Snail to turn back to normal for at least a short amount of time.

'Twas the night before Halloween, candleflame tickled the foggy air while aging tapestries swayed softly in the cold breeze coming through one of several broken windows.

"Did you bring him?" JNH inquired, although seemingly knowing the answer already.

"He's in my company, but was not I who brought him." SD answered, removing the hood from the shackled figure behind him. " 'Twas the God of Burds who willed him here."

There he stood, Ty, son of Lar, the prince of Newfoundland and heir to the crown. With his hood removed he could gather his surroundings, his mind scanning frantically for means of escape that the chains of which bound his wrists would ultimately render futile.

Hooded figures circled an old, splintering table which held engravings of vikings and lions. Engravings which meant unreadable hieroglyphs to some but not to Ty, son of Lar, for Ty, son of Lar it meant everything. He was to be the newest gift to the God of Burds, and he was to be the one whose sacrifice brings glory to the realm of Newfoundland once again.

"Very well." JNH said, unsheathing a ceremonial knife which stretched near a meter long. "Lay our God's offering on the table and let us begin."

The hooded tribesmen began in unison, erupting in a thundering chant.

"HE WHO FEEDS THE GOD OF BURDS BRING GLORY TO MEN WHO SPEAK THESE WORDS
HE WHO FEEDS THE GOD OF BURDS BRING GLORY TO MEN WHO SPEAK THESE WORDS
HE WHO FEEDS THE GOD OF BURDS BRING GLORY TO MEN WHO SPEAK THESE WORDS"

And it concluded. Ty, son of Lar lie on the offering table no longer, instead lies in the great halls of the Ascended Foundland with legions of heroes that once called the realm of Newfoundland their home, men who surround the Tribe of Berserkers with glorious, bountiful energy for the rest of time.

As a Latvian, I am not among the most celebrated festivals, because our traditions are different from the American traditions, but since I am now a typical American with my heart and soul, it is also in recent years to mark this festival. In former Team St. Louis's parties were glamorous and with a very large influx of people, but now that I'm in the Seattle system, I can't see what is really going to be at this party. Of course, the situation in the world does not make it possible to complete the festival, because there are various restrictions that prevent it. As far as I know, the restrictions in Latvia are harsher, and they do not allow the gathering. But let's get to the most important, thematic party in honor of the helovin. I certainly wouldn't be of those original party guests and would certainly be wearing some ghost or zombie costume, of course, with hockey equipment on my back. But the teammates do more of this sort of tradition, and I don't doubt anyone would be dressed in a pumpkin suit, or even a dead nurse's suit. These festivals would be very beautiful and glamorous, as I have said, here I love them. Everywhere, there's a helovin-matching music, kids and sweets all around. They would be a festival...

As Texas Renegades prepare for playoffs to start somehow it is also a time for Halloween, but management felt like little party could help with preparations, getting people more relaxed to get us better change to take on Chicago or at least gets us partying and drinking when we still have theoretical chance to win the cup.

This was first halloween for Viljami Leppänen, current GM of Texas Renegades, as in Finland it isn't really a thing, or at least wasn't when Viljami was young so he is mostly clueless about what is going on but sees it mostly as work related party and considers himself too old to get a costume but still shows up to eat and drink stuff that team is paying for.

This year we have seen increased interest towards racing on Texas locker and at the party we ended up having at least three players dressed up as their favorite iRacer, Gil Lamar.

For Halloween party, the Maine Timber organization had rented a beautiful rooftop party venue from Portland downtown. Timber captain Alex Oscarsson was responsible for the arrangements and theme selection. He wanted the team to do things a bit differently and skip the typical superheroes, ghosts and vampires. The theme was famous comedy characters, and it was an absolute hit. There were many hilarious costumes.

The sniper duo, Sutton and Oscarsson, dressed up as dumb and dumber. For the Brit Leo Bloomfield there was no other options than Mr. Bean. The Finnish guys, Seppanen and Stromberg had selected some weird Finnish comedy characters that absolutely nobody outside of Finland has ever seen. To not that big of a surprise, the General Manager Tomas Kubovcik dressed up as Michael Scott and the co-GM Hans Hammersmith was Dwight Schrute. Some other honorable mentions include Sean Gatez as Barney Stinson, Rikard Bjerg as Frank Drebin and Patrick Shepherd as Al Bundy.

For the second year in a row in the history of the Quebec City Citadelles, general manager Oisin Fletcher hosted the Halloween party for the team. The theme of the party was the Marvel Super Heroes. They all tried to be different super heroes, but there was a lack of communication between some members. Emilia Bergman decided to come as Black Widow. Ryan Rieley was Captain America. Zdenko Beranek decided to join the fun as Thanos. The Petrov, Igor, Teylora and Boris forgot to talk before showing up, so all three ended up joining the party disguised as Spiderman. This allowed them to do a lot of prank without their teammate knowing who pulled it. Maybe it was actually planned that they all joined as Spiderman? Jasper Maximov was on the lazy side and joined as Tony Stark, so Ironman, but in plain clothes. It was overall a pretty great night with the team and everyone had a blast, especially the Petrovs.

This years Halloween was different for the Specters. Having been eliminated in the first round of the SHL Playoffs just a few short days ago, not many were eager to get dressed up and celebrate like usual. We decided to join up and party anyway, because it is Halloween after all. There were Ghostbuster costumes, Batman, Joker, Beetlejuice, and even Barney the Dinosaur made an appearance. I decided to go as just a generic Wolfman. Things were going pretty good until an unnamed player dressed as Super Mario had a little too much to drink and decided to prove he was the actual Mario, climbed up to the roof and jumped off thinking he was in a Tanooki suit. Luckily he landed on the backyard trampoline and bounced into the pool. He only suffered minor injuries so we all can laugh about it now. It was overall a fun time, and I look forward to next years spooky party.
