Honestly, for me at least, Vladmir Petrov did not live up to his expectations in Anchorage this past season. While I expected, fully expected, and wanted him to be the best Petrov there is, he just could not cut it on the ice. I do not know if that is because of the lack of playing time in Anchorage, as I still sit as the third line center and only had a little over 13 minutes a game. I still put up some nice points in such a short period of time, mind you, but overall it was just not what I wanted. I fully expected to be moved up on the lines and time on the ice, but everything stayed the same or went worse. I fully expect for Vladmir Petrov to be a number one liner next season, but I shouldn’t let get my hopes up like I did for this season. I hope that I can get out of this shitty funk of being a poor player. (170 TPE) 2. For me at least, the most memorable Finals in the last ten seasons was the Season 49 Edmonton Blizzard over the New England Wolfpack. It was the last Final’s Series that Tommy Tuck won. I will always truly believe that winning in Season 49 helped cement his road to the hall of fame, and that is not a shot at the rest of the team. We had such a powerhouse with Tor Tuck, and Karlstrobe Scholz, not to forget Brady McIntyre. James Truong, Tony Pepperoni, Barrett Blackwood, Julio Tokolosh. Man, what a fun team that was to be apart of. So no, we didn’t have the blow them out of the water stats that people will remember for years on years, but we had such a great close knit group of friends and family, that winning together with my boys in Edmonton was probably one of the best feelings I’ve had in a sim league in a long time. Season 49 was probably my favorite win. (166 words) 6. The best team in the SMJHL this year to not make the finals this season must be the Anchorage Armada. Outside of the fact that they are stacked top to bottom, with max earners literally everywhere throughout their lineup, they were third overall in the league in points, and second in the Western Division. Anchorage put games together, and they were the second highest scoring team in the minors this past season. They also had the second-best defense in the minors this season as well. Anchorage did everything correctly, but when it came to playoff time, they just could not get everything together for the span of the playoffs. Anchorage should have been in the Finals, and they just could not seal the deal. (124 words) 7. One of the most underrated teams that I think will preform very well this year in the IIHF is none other then Norway. While you already know you have your powerhouses in the United States, Canada, Czech Republic and Japan, Norway is going to really surprise people. Outside of the fact that we have such a great crew out in Norway, we added quite a few new faces that will help the team out on both sides of the puck. On top of that, there was easily an almost 3k growth of TPE throughout the Forwards, Defensemen, and Goalies. That is humongous and needs to be accepted for the fact that Norway is Bestway. Do not forget the simple fact that Norway has the: cellyotter: and puts every other single team to shame. Norway has been long overdue for a medal finish, and I can honestly see it happening within the next few seasons. Norway will put everyone on notice this year, and people are going to be scared. (169 words) 8. Hamilton is really looking forward to adding a new product, especially since it is finals time. They surprised everyone when they rolled out this new product, a simple yet elegant item, that no one expected. It is the Gabriel Johnson “Johnson”. Yeah, we know, the name is not what it is all cracked up to be, but the fans seem to be gobbling the Johnson by the bucketload. The Johnson is not your everyday Johnson, it is long, sweet, with a little spicy kick at the end of it. It is on the cheap end, so everybody can enjoy The Johnson. Do not let this Johnson confuse you, as Gabriel Johnson has been seen on record putting back his Johnsons by the plate full. Gabriel Johnson has been heard on record stating how proud of his Johnson he is, and that everyone should choke it down and celebrate with him, that he finally has some food named after him. Quote:1. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Luca Del Vecchio fared about as well as he could have fared considering the team in front of him. On a team that gave up the most shots and with a weak roster in front of him, it’s honestly a miracle that he survived the whole season without injuries. In fact, Del Vecchio was the goalie with most shots against and most saves in the entire league, often facing more than 50 shots a night. Honestly, Del Vecchio is in a world of his own for the most part and for next season, in fact for all future seasons, just has to continue performing like he is. Once the young players come in and develop some more, he’ll be able to show that he belongs among the elite players, both at his position and in the league. For that, he’ll just have to continue saving as many pucks as he can, and keep staying in the zone every night. (159 words) Quote:2. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Of the last 10 Challenge cup finals, the one that will remain the most memorable to me will always be the S47 series between the West Kendall Platoon and the Calgary Dragons. First and foremost, I was the captain of the Platoon on the way to conquering a third and final cup with a Platoon team that dominated the S40s. Secondly, that season, the Platoon went big, like 5 points more than anyone else in the standings and 3 players in the top 10 scorers in the league. In the playoffs, Crossfit Jesus, Dani Forsberg & Gabriel Wong were beasts, scoring 1 point per game respectively but it was Beaujeaux Biscuit’s performance in the nets that was memorable. The final series itself was a sweep but the best feeling in the world remained. That of being the SHL champions once more. To us, the real final was the 4-3 win over the Stampede in the conference finals. The East was much stronger than the West and the finals showed us why. (171 words) Quote:7. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) This year’s IIHF tournament is going to be very much akin to the previous IIHF tournament. I fully expect Great Britain, USA and Canada to be the favourites going into the tournament. I also expect Japan, who surprised many a viewer by reaching the finals last year, to be a much stronger dark horse than last season. Other interesting teams that could make waves in the tournament this year include Switzerland, Norway and Germany. Player wise, I expect Luca Del Vecchio to be challenging for the Top Goaltender of the tournament once more, with such a stacked defensive corps that some of them will have to play as skaters. With only one player making his international debut with the British lions, this team’s core looks solid for another few seasons. For the skaters, Theo Morgan looks to once again lead Canada deep into the tournament and will look to add some international silverware to his tally, after dominating the SHL’s regular season as well as the playoffs. Hamilton has Theo Morgan and the legend that is Robert Phelps. They also have Ray Bork who has arguably the best name of any player on both teams combined. Next to Dick Clapper & Aaron Wilson, this team is stacked both front and back. Really the only knock on this team is that they have Gabriel Johnson who is a terrible player and person. (64 words) B. When you get as far as the Finals, there are so many games that have been played that you don’t dare touch anything for fear of breaking what works. I would say that both teams will stick to what they have unless something goes horribly wrong. Having been there in the SMJHL finals back on Kelowna, neither us nor St. Louis touched strategies and lines for that very reason. (69 words) C. Lets analyze the lakes. Lake Erie is too eerie to be the greatest. Lake Ontario isn’t fully in Ontario so that cancels any claim it may have. The same applied to Lake Michigan that is split between Michigan and Wisconsin so we have to rule it out as well. This leaves us with Lake Superior & Lake Huron. Lake Superior claims it’s superior but is it really? The only cities along it are Thunder Bay & Duluth, both are isolated places which means that this lake is the highest geographically but not actually the greatest. This leaves us with Lake Huron as the sole survivor by this flawed logic. Henceforth Lake Huron is the greatest. (115 words) D. My homie and Kelowna buddy Tweedledum would be my first choice of hanging out with just to go back on the good times that we had, from hosting the original draft streams to the Saturday Knight Live podcasts we had a ton of fun together back then. We haven’t done much since those days as we moved on to our respective SHL teams after that. (65 words) Quote:16. CW TRIVIA, 3 TPE max - 1 TPE for participation, 0.5 TPE for each correct answer. 1.this season was a struggle but we made the most of it in tampa. Slowly but surely we improved our win total again although my numbers stayed the same. You can call it bittersweet but I know I have got to be better out there, I gotta try and carry my guys to the playoffs. Maybe this season things will get better for me as I round out my game to become a more complete player. With strict offseason training I should make that dream a reality. We also have more fresh faces joining us this year and that should be an amazing time for the squad. Hard reset coming soon from cuda town as many will become strong members of our group going foreward. With all the prospects getting ready to make the jump I honestly see us improving a good deal and pressuring by s59 for a playoff spot. Never give up tanpa.
156 words 4. For a bubble I'd look no further than Chicago it's got everything you need wind, pizza, a lake, and a team that never wins rings. I joke I kid but seriously let's give the city of brotherly love a chance here chicago is great as long as your not being mugged. I think we could really help people get to know this fine american venue more then they already do itll be a hoot. The syndicate would approve of it too as they can just chill at home and do what they do. While there we can take in the sights like the statue if liberty and take a dive in lake ontario chicago has it all. As long as the syndicate dont get to amped up playing at home this is a win win for every team in the shl I hope that ho takes it into consideration. Let's make this happen. 158 words 7. My predictions for iihf are pretty simple canada gone win and usa be 2nd. You dont have to be a genius to see that these are the deepest teams that also hold high end talent they are stronk. Next up I'm seeing japan possibly as monkey d luffy is a man on a mission he wants to have his moment and with japan he could have just that. As we round out alot of teams are up for the rest of the tourney but one thing that is certain finland is gonna struggle they still lack actual depth all over the ice and I just dont see them being able to overcome such a shortcoming. Maybe 2-3 years down the road they can compete but right now this is a deep teams tourney you have to be able to roll many lines with diversity in order to compete for medals. As for canada they got this in the bag no doubt. 163 words 14.my choice for mvp of the finals is aaron wilson. Besides points arron brings a diffrent fever pitch to every game. Hes a smart disciplined strong on his skates player that will smash you with a crushing hit. Wilson brings scoring touch to his game as well and is the constemte teammate never afraid to get in the way of a shot back in his own end. If only teams could develop guys like aaron the game would be in a very good place going foreward. Heres to arron wilson and to hamilton for winning and providing a superior culture in the there locker room. Perhaps he pulls off another scoring title. 113 words. 6. For me its Manhattan with the combo of wagstrom Thomas on and gold 9l shocked they still havent reached the pinnacle. It goes to show that depth is paramount in fhm and truly means much more then it did in sths. Without many players above 1500 tpe like hamilton and buffalo you just wont compete for the league crown. Hopefully they get one more shot at it with this group it would be a real shame if they were never able to win a ship with the group. Going forward I wouldent be suprised to see a trade that helps this group win now as Thomson and ola are both strong into regression and at most have 3-4 more high level years left in them. 127 words Cw verification fitted 2x 4Star Cup Champ s49 s50 1x commissioners excellence award s 50

Reflection on your season - how did your player fare on the ice this season? Did you meet or surpass your individual player goals or did you come up short? Whether you excelled or disappointed - what can you attribute that to? What will you try to do better next season? I had a solid season, this season. I wanted to be known as a more of a two way player that helped my team in hockey games, I really don't care if I scored a hat trick as long as we won the hockey game that was the only thing I cared about. I wanted to gain possession, make smart and solid passes to my teammates and make sure my linemates produced. Morgan lead the league in goals and points. we won the president and the challenge cup and I feel like I did my job at the end of the day. I played great defensive hockey and I want to be someone who is hard to play against every night. This was my 3rd cup in my career and I hope to get the most cups by a player. I was quite happy with my play and I hope next season, We go back to back. 2. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Of the 10 most recent finals series, which do you think is the most memorable and why? Which will be remembered in history as the best/most important/most memorable series or victory? S46: BUF over NOLA, S47: WKP over CGY, S48: BUF over WPG, S49: EDM over NEW, S50: CGY over TBB, S51: HAM over EDM, S52: MAN over SFP, S53: HAM over EDM, S54: NOLA over HAM, S55: BUF over NOLA. I think the S50 series was the most memorable, Tampa Bay blew a 3-0 lead to Calgary and it really ended what could have been a very good team in Tampa. Tampa went into a rebuild mode after that and they haven't been the same team that they were in the S50. They are hoping to end their rebuild soon and start building a contender again moving forward. I think that series really change the outlook for tampa and maybe even the league. BUF over NOLA would be another as it went to seven games and i think a win for both teams would have changed their legacy within the league. I think these will be the most memorable because of their storylines involved with them. Another would be the S51 finals, the Steelhawks team changed the league forever and without them we would still be in sths right now instead of fhm. 13. Written, up to 4 TPE - Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words. a. Both of these teams have an impressive set of skaters - without factoring in any coaching or tactical strategies, which team do you think has the better roster of skaters on paper? I feel like Hamilton has a stronger roster right now. I know a lot of people feel like Hamilton has a weakness in goal but Their forwards are the best in the league by far and they can produce throughout their line-up. I feel like it is hard to stop their offence over a 7 game series and they will win the challenge cup because of it. b. Do you foresee the teams making any strategic adjustments during the course of the series? Should the teams be quick to switch tactics or stick with what they've been using? I feel like both teams will stick with what they have been using both teams know that they strategies have gotten them to the finals and will keep them to see if they could win a championship. Hamilton and Buffalo's Coaches are confident in their abilities in terms of strategic adjustments and a back and forth will not matter. c. These two teams hail from the Great Lakes Division. Which of the Great Lakes (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior) do you think is the Greatest and why? Superior is the best great lake because of the their name, it literally means the best lake. Ontario lake meh, Michigan is in the states. Erie is stinky and Huron is weird to me because they as people leave on the south Ontario shore. Superior is the superior lake everyone knows this. 6. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Which SHL or SMJHL team was the best team to not make the finals this season and why? I think the North Stars could have made the finals in the west but they didnt because they are in the toughest division in the SHL. I feel like the great lakes division might have the best three teams in the league in Hamilton,Chicago, and Buffalo and they have too many games against them to get a strong record in the regular season and its not close between these four teams right now. I feel like Toronto might be able to sneak into the playoffs next season but it will be hard to say those 3 teams are still too good right now and they might be stuck behind those 3 teams for awhile. 14. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (100 words min) Welp, you waited until the last day to grind out your CW and the CC finals are longggggggg over by now. congrats to [TEAM], woo! Reflecting back on the series, who gets your vote for series MVP? Make the case why this player deserves it over any other. I think Theo Morgan deserves it this post-season. He scored a lot of goals during the playoffs and without him, I don't think Hamilton makes it as far as they did. Morgan got 12 goals in 16 games which is impressive. He was clutch with his goals and he scored to get leads in the hockey games. I thought he had a strong finals and I feel like he was a difference maker every time he stepped on the ice. There are a lot of mvp candidates on Hamilton, wilson could have been considered or Clapper as he produced a lot of offense. Task 16: poopoo

Registered RIP Lefty Code: 1. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) John Donair had a phenomenal year this season. I can’t imagine it going any better, really. Thirty goals is incredible, and it surpassed nearly every expectation I had. It’s exciting to know that, at least for one season, I’ll be up on the FHM-era list for most goals in a season. The powerplay goals record for the franchise is solid, too! In short, I’m elated. What really makes me happiest about it was that it was a build I created essentially on my own. I talked to my GMs and they asked me to tweak just a little thing to improve balance, and I’m glad we came to that conclusion as a group. After all, I’m nothing without the team feeding me pucks around the net. As I move to the 425 cap next season, I want to keep building on those things I already do better than a lot of the league, like getting open and screening. With the firepower we have coming up in Anaheim on the defensive side, I don’t need to worry a whole lot about rounding out that portion of my game. I just need to keep scoring goals. (194) Code: 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) So this format is super easy. Pool Play Phase 1 begins with seeds 1-4 in Pool C1, seeds 5-8 in Pool B1, and seed 9-12 in Pool A1. Each pool plays 6 games. We then go to the bracket portion, in that the first places of A and B go head-to-head, followed by 2nd places, etc. – and the winners of those games play the reverse-finishing counterparts in the top 4 seeded pool. All of those are best-of-three. Those last BO3’s don’t mean shit, cuz we’re going back to pool play after that. Winners go to Pool A2, Losers to Pool B2. Doesn’t matter how many times we play each other here, since Bracket 2 includes everyone and we’re on best of sevens now. Again, as if it mattered, 1st place A goes against 1st place B and so on in the first round. The winners of each series play each other 9 times in the 3rd and final Pool Phase in Pool A3. The top two teams play a best of 11 for the championship. Let’s see IIHF compete with that. (181) Code: 5. Written, 2 TPE "What's the SHL?" Said a naive, younger me Talking to Wilson. Code: 6. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) The best team to not make the finals – or even make the second round of the playoffs – was clearly the Anaheim Outlaws. They had a high-powered offense, a rookie goalie who wasn't exactly playing out of his mind all the time but stood fast in net, and a burgeoning young defenseman who really deserved more hardware than he alreayd should be getting in the offseason. The gigantic caveat when considering that, though, is that Boxman wasn’t with the team toward the end of the season. While the Outlaws struggled to get wins down the stretch without Boxman in the lineup, there’s very little doubt in my mind that some adjustments in management were the only thing separating the team from maintaining that greatness (as big of a stud as Boxman obviously was). Still, the team is stacked with talent from top to bottom, including myself (Donair), Ryu Jones, Thomas Rose, new guy Casey Outlaw, Jonas Muller, and ROTY candidate Arsene LeClerc. The future is bright for these boys. Code: 13. Written, up to 4 TPE - Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words. Speed – Hamilton has 4 forwards with 17 speed, Buffalo has 2 forwards and 2 defensemen with 17 speed Puck Handling – Hamilton has a center and defender at 20 and 3 forwards at 18; Buffalo has 3 forwards at 19 and a defenseman at 18. Checking – every player on Buffalo has at lest 14 checking but NMT 18. Most players on Hamilton have 17 checking, with a few exceptions (Aaron Wilson, Michael Scarn, and Dick Clapper) Just from these three broadstroke comparisons, it looks pretty even! But I think the edge in puckhandling for Hamilton makes them the better roster on this short piece of paper. (119) b. I think it’s always best to stick to what you know at this point in a season. There might be some temptations to run different strategies, especially for the Stampede since they only managed to beat the Steelhawks once this season in overtime. But the Stampede can’t forget that those games were in the regular season, and this is the postseason. While everything else – the pressure, scenery, stakes – has changed, their game must be true to themselves. (78) c. It’s painfully obvious to every Midwesterner that Lake Michigan is the best lake of all the great lakes. On one coast, you have beautiful Kenosha, with the highest concentration of dirt particles in the air of any Wisconsin city – including Milwaukee, which is still on the coast of Lake Michigan, just 30 miles north. Just below Kenosha is Chicago, and the Lake Michigan beaches there force people to buy $10,000/month condos just to look at all the people pissing in it all day. On the other side, you have the much more scenic Holland, Michigan, home to some sick windmills and amazing landscape. The erosion from the west-to-east winds have made the beaches on my side covered with glass, and the beaches on that side lead into beautiful rolling hills. It’s the greatest lake! (135) d. Well this isn’t a hard question for me – the answer is Faelax. We already took some socially distanced precautions earlier this year, when myself, him, Sve7en, and AgentSmith all attended a disc golf tournament. It was a really fun time. If I have to pick somebody else, it’d still be on Buffalo – Baelor Swift. We’ve talked a little bit over the years, and we’re interested in some of the same things. I’m always interested in the work he’s been doing with the Peace Corps and other organizations, and I think it’d be cool to sit back and shoot the shit for a while. He also deserves way more props on the ‘all-time user’ list that RED propositioned, and we’d talk about that over some blunts as well. (128) Code: 16. 1. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Reflection on your season - how did your player fare on the ice this season? Did you meet or surpass your individual player goals or did you come up short? Whether you excelled or disappointed - what can you attribute that to? What will you try to do better next season? Last season was when Jones demonstrated that he is capable of living up to the hype being a first overall pick. This season was another one where Jones showed he can still improve. Finishing third in scoring leaguewide was something Jones did not think was possible at the start of the season. After finding instant chemistry with Otter and Gotze, Jones blossomed into the offensive buzzsaw that scouts always knew he would become. Jones was pretty even with 31 goals and 33 assists, perhaps he will try to score more goals next season, but being a balanced playmaker is fine. Jones could stand to get a little more physical. If he can start tossing the body around and creating space for other players on the Inferno, the team should get a few more wins. Jones could possibly work on his giveaways/takeaways, but overall it’s looking good for the Inferno winger. This season’s performance surpassed my expectations, a repeat or improvement would be amazing. 6. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Which SHL or SMJHL team was the best team to not make the finals this season and why? It’s a homer pick, but the Atlanta Inferno were incredible this season. The team ended up finishing where they expected to, but outside of Atlanta, there were some doubters about the possibility of an expansion team making the playoffs and winning a series. The Inferno proved they were not a low-tier team, but rather one that belonged in the discussion for cup contenders this past season. There was depth scoring and depth defense that made the Inferno a tough team to play against. Some expected them to roll over dead and be bounced in a few games in the first round, but that was not the case! 7. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) What's your prediction for this season's IIHF tournament? Which teams do you expect to do well (or not well)? Which players? Team Switzerland is still a young team, not having existed as long as some of the mainstays of the tournament. The IIHF community has been paying more attention to Switzerland after a deep run a few tournaments ago. The Swiss are prepared to do it again and this time seal the deal, bringing the IIHF gold medals to the country for the first time. Jones has been practicing hard to improve his on ice performance. This season was a coming out party for Jones, as he demonstrated that he can put up big points throughout a 50 game season. This tournament will be a litmus test for the Swiss. They will either prove they belong in contention or are just fodder. The Swiss, like all the other teams, are play for pride. There is a lot at stake and Swiss like Jones know all about it. Expect the Swiss to fight to the bitter end, there won’t be anyone from Switzerland coasting out there. The Swiss are hungry this go around. 13. Do you foresee the teams making any strategic adjustments during the course of the series? Should the teams be quick to switch tactics or stick with what they've been using? I could see one or both of the teams having some tricks up their sleeves that they have been dying to try out, but reluctant to do so in the early rounds. We will likely see these two teams engage in a classic chess match, one team pulling off a tactical switch only to be countered by the opponents tactics swap. Best be prepared for any and all possible strategies if you’re playing in this series. c. These two teams hail from the Great Lakes Division. Which of the Great Lakes (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior) do you think is the Greatest and why? They say all divisions are created equally, but that is a myth based on the outcome of this season with both teams hailing from the same division. The gracious playoff formatters allowed the great lakes division to demonstrate the food chain of divisions. Name another division that has faced off in the challenge cup finals. It may have happened, but this is the most recent case, so it’s the available evidence. Obviously they are drinking something special in those great lakes to enhance their performance. 16. I largely anchored down the right-wing spot on the third line in Atlanta. But I still managed a 2 in +/-. I would have liked to have contributed more on the power play as I didn't have a single point even though I averaged a minute a game in power play time. It was our inaugural season in Atlanta but we gelled pretty quickly as a team. With the exception of Geoff Moore, Moore is the reason my power play numbers were so so trash. Every time we gave that guy the puck we may as well have shot it on our own net. Like seriously he wasn't even facing the right way half the time. Luckily he's fucked off to retirement. So that alone should really REALLY give my numbers a boost. Code: Code: 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) So to save on travel costs the SHL has decided to ditch seeds entirely and each team just plays whichever city happens to be closest to them. No Byes. The Matchups would look like this. HAM-BUF MAN-NEW ATL-NOLA CGY-EDM CHI-WPG LA-TEX What makes some of these seem off is New Orleans is close to Atlanta than Dallas is. But that also keeps us from having a Winnepeg-Los Angeles series which would have cost the league a kidney. We'll play it out and decide who advances based on who i'd want to advance. Which gives us BUF-MAN ATL-CHI and LA-CGY. This obviously a little weird as there will be 3 teams. But don't worry I'm on Atlanta so they get a bye to the final. And we have MAN-CGY playing into it. Which gives us MAN-ATL Final which ATL wins cause I want them to and I'm in charge. Code: Code: 4. Written/Graphic, 3 TPE (150 words min.) The SHL bubble would take place in St.Louis. St. Louis has upgraded the ice at Enterprise Center in the last handful of years. There is a hotel a block away from the arena. There is also a theatre attached to the Arena so there could be shows or concerts there for the bubble residents. 2 blocks to the west of the arena is Union Station which has a newly opened aquarium. Union station also has a handful of restaurants, Mini Golf, a carousel and ferris wheel. There is a hotel in Union Station so that could also be used. Since this bubble is centered around the arena there is easy access to interstate 64. Which could be used to take players to other St. Louis things to do. Like golf courses further out from the city core. Or to Forest Park where there’s the Zoo, the Art Museum and if the buble happens during the winter there’s a outdoor ice rink there. Code: Code: 5. For the 3rd season of 4, he garnered just 20 points, although this time he saw 5 goals instead of 1. I had been hoping for better production due to having a better team, but the combination of having a rookie on the line sort of offset any progress I had hoped to make. 20 points was not even good for top of the team. I attribute this to playing first line against people like Theo Morgan, while our second line played against other bonafide second liners, allowing them better opportunities. Lastly, my give-aways rocketed up and my take-aways faltered. I collected 0 milestone TPE this season. But, we play for the team, not ourselves, so I am not terribly upset. I think with the injection of yet more talent, season 57 will look a lot better for Tom Fiddler. We have new defensemen and wingers coming into play that should help things a lot. Code: 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) I think a worse, or at least different setup would be to have an 8-man tournament with the 8 lowest teams "playing in" like the NHL playoffs. This means that bottom tier teams can still make the playoffs based on some memery. The series is a best of 5 and if top tier teams can lose, they get a lottery pick. It's the worst possible thing, because if a team like Buf screws the pooch, they can pick up a top 8 lottery pick, and potentially grab the best player in the draft. And, if a team like TBB wins through memes and fuckery, we can play hamilton in the next round and lose 0-4 with 60 goals against. Code: 4. Written/Graphic, 3 TPE (150 words min.) The best possible location for a playoff bubble is in Tampa Bay, because its the one place you actually need a bubble because it's a disease ridden shit hole even without a pandemic. Couple that with the fact that Florida's governor is too busy passing laws that allow civilians to shoot looters on sight (lets read that again, you get to become an extrajudicial executioner for the crime of PROPERTY DAMAGE (double read that again, the penalty for property damage is DEATH)) to do anything about the virus itself. While in the bubble, players can relax by the beach and get infected with covid or an STD, ride jetskis and get hepatitis from the ocean, or go to disneyworld and literally fucking die because overweight midwestern boomers have zero concept of hygiene or personal space and if they don't kill you with their smell, you'll certainly bake alive in the hot hot sun. Written/Graphic, 3 TPE (150 words min. if written) Buffalo is pulling out all the stops with the new loaded buffalo nachos. The Buffalo nachos are not quite what you'd expect from a "buffalo" themed food, which usually entails lots of sauce or wings. For this, we've got real bison meat, poached from real bison in yellowstone national park. We start with a bed of fries, we add shreded bison meat slow cooked, a very light drizzle of buffalo sauce to add that kick and sour punch, then we add some white gravy, onions, and cheese curds. The meal is called the Buffalo Bison Poutine. For Hamilton, although it seems in bad taste, they've got their own chicken wings to rival Buffalo. Traditionally, wings are not sold at stadiums for seemingly obvious reasons. But Hamilton don't give a fuck. Furthermore, their sauce is dyed with metallic food coloring to give it a steely shine. It comes in multiple flavors and shades of steel, with the mild wings being a bright silver and the Toilet-Fucker-9000, the spiciest flavor, being a rusty red hue, foreshadowing the color of your toilet bowl after it eviscerates your butthole. The hawks are keen to avoid the "buffalo" connotation regarding wings and have strictly forbidden the flavor in their offerings, instead offering garlic, bbq, pepper, and tobasco inspired flavors. Reflection on your season - how did your player fare on the ice this season? Did you meet or surpass your individual player goals or did you come up short? Whether you excelled or disappointed - what can you attribute that to? What will you try to do better next season? I'm happy with my season, all things considered. As a team, Québec improved a lot even if we lost an important piece with Alexander Roach going up to Buffalo. I personally spent most of my season playing with Boris Petrov so it was a bit difficult to generate offense with him as my partner but we did great defensively and I improved my +/- by a big fat +40. I was still able to improve my offensive contribution by 9 points so I think I'm on the right path. I'm doing good on even strength but I would like to perform better on the powerplay next season. I was one of the most used players on the PP and I only had 5 points all season. As a team we didn't do that great overall on the powerplay but improving it starts with individual performances. I'm sure most of us unbanking an additional 75 tpe will help a lot and we'll see Québec do much better in the rankings. 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) FHM's 12-team playoff bracket setup has received a fair bit of scrutiny. It re-seeds after the play-in round and for some reason puts the #1 seed and #2 seed on the same side of the bracket. I challenge you to come up with a different playoff format - can you come up with a format that's dumber/worse than this? be creative! Come up with the worst possible format for a 12-team playoff. To do something even dumber than having the #1 and #2 seeds be on the same side of the bracket would be really difficult because that format doesn't even take the regular season into consideration. Being seeded first is the sole purpose of the regular season as it is since all teams participate in the playoffs so it blows my mind that this issue even exists. To make this even worse, maybe we could pit the team with the most fights won collectively against the team with the most shots blocked in the first round because that makes as much sense as not respecting the order in which the teams finished in. After I was done writing this I realized you might be talking about the SHL so it might not make any sense but that's 5 minutes of my life I'm not getting back. Both teams are stacked as hell but I believe Theo Morgan wins the head to head between those teams on his own. Dude is a machine. He was an absolute monster during the regular season but he slowed down a bit during the playoffs but luckily, the rest of his teammates picked up the slack. That's not to say the rest of Hamilton's roster is bad, far from it, since they have tons of 1500+ tpe players. b. Do you foresee the teams making any strategic adjustments during the course of the series? Should the teams be quick to switch tactics or stick with what they've been using? I think when you reach the finals of the Challenge Cup you'll just keep using whatever worked and hope you'll keep winning. I haven't followed the finals at all but I imagine if any changes were made they weren't dramatic at all. d. If, once it is safe to do so, you had to go hang out in person with one of the users on Buffalo/Hamilton, who would you hang out with and what would you do? (if you pick gabe you get -1 tpe) Might be cheating because I did so already but I would totally hang out again with @Evok! We would go to her favourite restaurant, Panda Peng, then go watch an almost scoreless Laval Rockets game because I know she loves both of those things. We'd bring @Zoone16 along just for a bonus!! Man, I sure love [HOCKEY]. [TEAM] really deserved their win. I'll go with Dick Clapper as MVP for various reasons. First, MVP gotta be on the winning team. Then, Clapper might have less points than his teammate Theo Morgan but he did better defensively, with more hits and more shots blocked. I don't think those stats should be overshadowed because he got 2 fewer points than Morgan. He was used in every situation and did well in all of them. He was notably one of the better powerplay players in an engine that doesn't seem to really reward special teams at all. An argument could also be made for Jobin in net because he did really well too but I like giving the edge to skaters for this award. 16. Registered Senior Member Code: 1. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) I didn't have very high expectations for my player. Fred Wanesly made his SHL debut with a lot lower TPE than I was hoping him to start with. And then you pair that with being on a brand new expansion team! With all that, though, I was pleasantly surprised with how the season turned out. The extra playing time brought on by such a new and relatively inexperienced team probably contributed to that more it hurt it. I also think I can attribute some of the goodness that came out of this season to the strong defensive built my GM has guided me towards. I believe keeping Fred Wanesly more defensively strong as he grows is a good idea, as he won't be out on the ice as a liability for the team all the time. And everyone knows that a good offense starts with a good defense.. I am definitely looking forward to the next season. Code: 3. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Here is a terrible idea for a playoff bracket: You don't do the 12 team playoff, but instead you use 13 teams. For the first round, the #2 and the #3 seeds play each other, the #4 and #5 seeds play each other, the #6 and #7 seeds play each other, and so on... But the #1 seeded team gets a bye all the way until the finals. This way it becomes a sort of battle royale to see who will play the number one seed in the finals. I call it the "If you ain't first, you're last royal rumble playoffs format". Code: 4. Written/Graphic, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Code: 6. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) This is an easy one. For the SHL it is obviously the Seattle Argonauts. "Why?" you ask? I'll tell you why. The Argonauts sail on a great ship, and that ship is friendship. A team full of great fellas who are just real pals. Fun times are had every day by the members of that team. And for the SMJHL, well, it's obviously the Detroit Falcons. What's that? You think I'm stuck in my glory days of the near unstoppable S53 championship run? Well you are plain WRONG! The Falcons are still filled with talent and a group of great guys that are just fun to hang out with. Code: 8. Written/Graphic, 3 TPE (150 words min. if written) Code: 16. Registered Senior Member Quote:1. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) I think it's tough to judge my player too extensively this season, as I had pretty limited minutes so there wasn't much sample size to draw too many conclusions. There was definitely some areas in which I thought my player did well, and some where I did terrible. I only got 12 points, but I'm pretty content with that in the end based on TOI, as well as with my 31 shot blocks. My advanced stats were obviously inflated due to being on one of the better teams in the league, but it was nice to see that I could hold my own with almost one more GF per 60 than GA per 60, as well as a 60 CF%. The biggest disappointment by far was my abysmal giveaway to takeaway ratio. Hopefully just beefing up some of the defensive stats, as well as stuff like strength and balance during the offseason will be enough to address that and start getting it trending in a better direction. +3 TPE Quote:2. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Already slightly handicapped in answering this question, since I've only been around for about half of these finals. If I recall correctly, the CGY vs. TBB finals a few seasons before I joined involved a reverse sweep, which has to be up there for one of the most memorable (in a good/bad way depending on who you ask). For the finals that I've witnessed, I think last season's of BUF over NOL was one of the more exciting. BUF had been a strong team for the past few seasons, and were in the finals after falling short in the semi finals the year before. They faced off against NOL who was the defending champs and coming off a strong regular season performance as well. Any time the finals goes to 7 games you know it was a memorable one, but add to that an OT breakaway save and a golden goal to win the cup just makes it that more exciting. Sprinkle in a touch of line/role scandals and that's a good recipe for a finals that people will remember even many seasons in the future. +3 TPE Quote:6. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) For the SHL, I think a lot of teams could have different arguments for why they deserve this 'honor,' mainly CHI, CGY, and my own biased opinion of MAN, all based on both TPE levels and performance in the season. However for the SMJHL, I think the Kraken is the answer for this. The #1 seed in the east, and 2nd in the league in points and wins, only behind the eventually cup winners in VAN. This is the second season in a row that CAR has come into the playoffs as the 2 seed, but due to FHM's structure they had to play the 1 seed in semi finals, lose to them in 7 games, then watch them eventually go on to win it all. And for that reason they're once again the best J team that didn't get to play in the finals. +2 TPE Quote:13. Written, up to 4 TPE - Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words. a) I think this a two part answer. Hamilton has the advantage in overall TPE against BUF, as they have the #1 ranked offensive TPE forward group, and #3 ranked defensive TPE group, compared to BUF's #4 and #6 ranks in the same categories. However, BUF has the highest TPE player in the league with Luffy, as well as a higher TPE goalie in Doyle, so I think that the rosters on paper end up pretty balanced, but with a slight edge to HAM. b) I surely see these two teams making adjustments throughout the series. HAM has always seemed to be ahead of the curve when it comes to FHM knowledge, and I know first hand from round 2 that BUF will test new theories and make changes to their tactics depending on how the series is going. I think HAM may want to stay with the strategies that got them the overall 1 seed in the league, as clearly it's worked for them to date. d) I think that I would have an NL reunion with Lime or Burd from Buffalo. We all have a shared interest in video games, so we would probably just hang out and play some together. Another choice for me would be Zomb from BUF as well, and there would be an extremely high chance of a ton of shots being taken. +3 TPE Quote:14. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (100 words min) From purely a statistical standpoint, I think I would give the finals MVP to Aaron Wilson of Hamilton. He put up a stat line of 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points in 5 games, and had at least a point in every game except for game 3 where the Steelhawks got shut out. HAM obviously had the better goal differential in the series, but Wilson led the way at +7. He played a strong two-way game in the finals; on top of the 8 points, he had 13 hits and 5 takeaways in the 5 games. If you put any stock in DGR at all, he had DGR games of 68, 74, 80, 95, and 100 throughout the series, so it's that kind of two way effort that I think deserves finals MVP. +2 TPE Quote:16.
