S57 mPT #1 - Offseason Moves
(This post was last modified: 12-07-2020, 12:42 AM by Jumbo.)

The Baltimore Platoon had 4 Call-ups. 2 S54 guys (Patrick Shepherd and Adam Friedland) and then also 2 S55 guys (Daniil Nikiforov and Lord Raiden). Baltimore then was able to acquire 2 more S54 guys by trading for Simon Takshak later and signing free agent Bryce McMahon. That is a lot of young players on the roster. But Baltimore was in for a rough season anyways. So by getting these players up early, they can start working on chemistry together. Baltimore has put together an exciting young roster with alot of future potential. These young guys look to be the foundation for Baltimore for years to come. Maybe we will see a small glimpse of what the future holds for te Platoon this season. -124 words

The Atlanta inferno definitly had the best offseason. They acquired @Jepox during the draft and also we got the Rex Kirkby. The cup is basically a lock for that team and for many years too come. Other teams shoudda drafted better.

I've got to toot our own horns in Edmonton and say we did something great by trading away a top-4 defenseman for a 1st round pick and then coming back with an even better d-core than we did the season prior without giving up any assets! That's great management!

I believe the biggest move, this may be biased, is the haul of prospects for the San Francisco Pride from the Entry Draft. I know it seems like nothing at the current moment, but the building that is going on from the Pride is simply great to see and be apart of! pride

While maybe not the biggest move throughout the whole off season Atlanta did manage to add a bonified top pairing defenseman for free in Rex Kirkby which will help them sure up their blueline with the departure of veteran stalwart Geoff Moore.

I think without a doubt, the Toronto North Stars trade for Adam Barron was the trade of the offseason. We have the up and coming Toronto North Stars who just brought up rookies Scoochie Stratton to backup their already great goaltending in Harry Carpet, as well as both Luffy Richard and Ryosuke Sato who fill out their defensive core that was certainly lacking last season. All that's left was to replace the 3 IAs in 2 forwards and 1 defenseman. This is where Adam Barron comes into play.

The Toronto North Stars traded away a Toronto S57 1st, a Seattle S57 1st, a Winnipeg S57 2nd, IA Daniel Kuster, and prospects Sarah Burke and James Kimanje. This was all for soon to be star defenseman Adam Barron.

Now some may say this was an overpayment but from the North Stars perspective, the team's window to win begins now. They already have a number of prospects in the pipeline in Liam Slate and Juni Panda to fill out the team, and their older players in Harry Carpet and Mika Kandinsky are already starting to regress. Therefore, their window is now and the picks and prospect were kind of expendable, even though Sarah Burke and James Kimanje look to have the foundation of great players in the SHL. Then, Daniel Kuster's spot on the team would be replaced with the incoming Adam Barron.

With Adam Barron, the team is looking like contenders already with the team getting even better as the season progresses. Barron fits the Toronto North Stars window quite nicely with the team on the up and up until around S63 where the team would regress entirely, needing either a retool or rebuild. This means around 6 seasons of Adam Barron's prime for the Toronto North Stars, whereas the picks and prospects traded away would have only started to hit their prime when the team begins to regress.

This is not to say that the Winnipeg Jets lost in this trade. Quite the contrary as many people believed that the North Stars overpaid for Adam Barron. With 2 picks that became Dwayne Gretzky and Freya Hellstrom, Sarah Burke, and James Kimanje, if they all continue to progress than they would have 4 solid pieces to the team in the future. Furthermore, Daniel Kuster would be there to fill in the gap in the mean time.

All in all I think this is a win-win situation for both teams.

This is a super obvious and simple answer. Toronto acquiring Adam Barron is by far the biggest and best move of the off-season. Toronto is now set up so perfectly for the future and didn't lose a single step out of it.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

The Edmonton Blizzard signed Eric Vanderbug over the course of the offseason and it's a huge signing for them. Edmonton really needed to bring in a little outside help on the blueline, and Vanderburg decided to take his retirement tour to Blizzard country.

continuing to shop around the plug known as aron hernadivic has been a good choice for the buffalo stampede. the locker room hates him and he's better off destroying a different team. good riddance.

LA managing to scoop up poopity scoop is quite the move that should help them out a lot this season. Although it was expensive it was worth it and it's rare to see a player of that caliber be available as an IFA

Atlanta had a great offseason, signing a couple key players, like Rex Kirkby and Anders Christiansen, and they look pretty solid for this season. They could potentially be a contender.

I think the best move of the off-season was Atlanta picking up Rex Kirkby. The team was a surprise hit last season and now they've been able to bring in a second top defender to shore up their backend. He will gel greatly with Guy Zheng.

I think one of the bigger moves this offseason was TOR getting Barron. Since they had been rebuilding for a few seasons already, they had extra draft picks and an abundance of prospects in the pipeline, which they were able to turn into a mid1700s TPE D, who's among the top in his draft class and still a few season away from regression.

A really good thing that the Chicago Syndicate did this year was to re-sign me, Gunnar Söderberg. Hopefully it's a good move for the team but it's definitely a good move for me because I'm very happy here and I am glad I don't have to write a bunch more media about how emo I am to leave.

I think the biggest move is the Rage not getting rid n of this Barret McCarthy scrub. This guy is terrible, he keeps bringing the team down, and he's falling down the roster in terms of importance. What a loser and a big reason why the Rage will not win the cup this season.
