S58 mPT #3 What Does SHL Stand For?

I gotta go with something that fits the mood and vibe I carry in life. If my mom comes into my room demanding to know what I'm doing I'd have to let her know it's a lifestyle website known as Slim H* Land. Now I have to apologize, as I understand that "H" acronym there is very frowned upon by certain SHL users but it is something I say frequently in jest in real life. I inform people I get "plenty ho's" because they all know that I am lonely, and it makes them laugh. So in order to get my dear ol' ma off my back I'd simply tell her "This is Slim Ho Land, a spot where I converse with my peers about banging and such, that also offers up advice for weight loss." But really, that might not be believable now that I think about it... surely my own mother would laugh that off and then show genuine concern over the fact I have written longer pieces of media for this "SHL" site than I have for any university essays. She'd 100% call my bluff, knowing that I haven't interacted with any ho's--male, female, or otherwise--to accurately write that long.
As a fall back I have one last acronym to throw her way. Silo + Homeowner Lads. I think like, 10 years ago I told her I was going to be a farmer when I grew up. Maybe I can really make her doubt my committment to university and going into business by telling her that I simply have renewed my passion for the subject of farming and want to know what it takes to run and maintain a silo, as well as learn about the safety risks of swimming in different wheat stuffs in silos. I'm like 90% sure there's a movie where someone dies from going swimming in a silo, but I forget the movie and the good they jumped into in order to drown. That should be believable enough for her to think that I have direction in my life. If that doesn't work and she demands to visually see what the SHL is I'll just tell her it's porn. Easier than the reality of the situation. Code: 300 words or something like that

My parents being farmers will be delighted to learn that SHL stands for Simply Hilarious Legumes. They will no doubt be supportive of this career path and my secret will never be revealed.

I just wouldn't really describe the SHL in what it really is, and just say it is a management sort of game that is similar or close to Wasty's league where you just have control and whatnot. The motivating factor? I will claim I make some sort of profit doing this so they don't think i'm entirely lame!

SHL obviously stands for Shared Hockey Love. Its just a forum to discuss hockey in all forms. If you want to discuss Hockey, the SHL will have something for you. NHL? Got it. AHL? Of course. KHL? Sure its here and represented.
Its definitely not "hockey dungeons and dragons", cause that would be ridiculous.

The SHL is an online hockey game. That's about all you need to know really. There's a bunch of guys that play it from that other online hockey game, Hockey Dynasty. Remember that old guy I told you about? Yup, @Titan plays it too. Am I better than him at SHL too? Yup. Okay, bye!

It is the Swedish Hockey League, the professional hockey league in Sweden of course, the league SHL stole its name from, kinda sad. I would just say that I am a follower of Swedish hockey, yanoe

First off, my wife knows plenty of crazy and weird shit about me way worse than the SHL and she’s still with me. For gods sake, she knows I’m friends with Bonk and Esa! If that doesn’t chase her off, nothing will. That being said, if stuck to explain it to someone I’d probably go with Socio-economic Heuristic Learning, wherein people can learn about social and economic equality and justice and a bunch of other socialist bullshit like that.

The SHL stands for Simple Human League. It's a league where simple humans get together to talk about how simple life is, instead of how complicated life is. It makes for a great escape from reality.

Bean fumbles his words and says that SHL stand for Some Honey Lovers. A site that is dedicated to people who love honey and there is a whole form about who they upgrade their bees to be better producers.

Super Hot Ladies.... no wait, that’s not helping. Sieg Heil Lads, WIAT, NO that’s way worse! SHL stands for.... Simulation Hockey League. Yeah it’s kinda a big deal, I run simulations for the boys in Vegas so they know the most likely outcomes of hockey games. I’m an incredibly import part of the entire hockey betting scene, without me and the entire SHL community they wouldn’t have any idea how to set their lines.
Feel free to steal this when y’all are on dates and an SHL notification pops up.

Code: Oh no! Your partner/boss/parents just heard you talking about the SHL. Clearly there's no way to tell them the truth, that you spend your free time pretending to be a hockey player on an online forum. Quick! What do you tell them SHL stands for (and what do you do there) to avoid being dumped/fired/shipped off to military school? I would tell them that i am #A-Rye Izzy, the son of the Augment.. I’m a professional Hockey player for the Simulation Hockey League. I have a pet tiger named #Kitty which I got for my 8th birthday and who is forbidden to eat the Parm-Pigeon. #Commited

SHL is pretty clearly gonna be a sports league in my opinion just based off of the abbreviations such as MLB, NFL, NHL, NASCAR. So I'd just say instead of the Simulation Hockey League, it's a board for discussion about the Super Hockey League, which I'd then tell people is a niche video game that I'm interested in. Not too far from the truth but close enough to be believable

To add to the experience of this mPT, I'm writing this at my desk with my boss sitting just a few feet from me. I'm being responsible and scrolling down a little, so that the browser doesn't say "Simulation Hockey League" at the top. At work, i could play it off as "Screenprinting, Heatsealing, and Laser-etching" in reference to 3 popular forms of decoration in the merchandising field.
In front of friends that can see it's hockey in September with weird teams, i just say that its a European fantasy hockey league made up of multiple leagues. "Sweden Hockey League" is semi-popular and common, so "Platoon" seems like a reasonable thing to have on the screen as long as I scroll fast enough that people don't see "Baltimore". I typed the first paragraph at work and I'm posting from home. not as risky as i brag that i am. |
