The best team to not make it to the 4 Star Challenge Cup Finals is simple - The Nevada Battleborn. Now, you may say I have team bias, because I play for them... and you'd be right. We have the best lockerroom, the best management, and some of the best and most talented skaters on the ice in the game today. However, our offensive and defensive performances didn't show us the results we wanted, as we often suffered from being scored on. By season's end, management had changed and we were beginning to get our scoring touch. However, the playoffs saw the Battleborn losing in the first round.

Between the two juggernauts, Buffalo and Texas, I believe that Buffalo possesses the offensive firepower to best their more defensively-oriented opponents, Texas. The trio of Aron Hernadvic, Matt Kholin, and Monkey D. Luffy together have amassed 251 points together while Texas top three forwards, Kaarlo Kekkonen, Andreas Kvalheim, and Alexander Wachter only put together 212. Edge Buffalo.

In the question of who has the bigger chip on their shoulder between Buffalo and Texas, I believe Buffalo has the bigger chip on their shoulder. Texas has been suffering from a cup draught for over twenty seasons, which is difficult pill to swallow for Texas fans. However, Buffalo has come so close to becoming one of the best franchises in the SHL - only requiring the finish to solidify their place in the annals of history.

If I had to choose between Buffalo and Texas over whose branding I prefer, on most counts I would say I prefer Buffalo. On the count of name: Renegades are the cooler name (BUF 0-1 TEX). On the count of colours: Buffalo has the lovely green and yellow, a personal favourite colour combo of mine (They're kinda like Rohan colours) (BUF 1-1 TEX). On the count of location: I have never been to Buffalo, therefore (BUF 2-1 TEX). On the count of whose jersey I'd rather buy: Buffalo, again for the colours and the logo (BUF 3-1 TEX).

I don't know what brought about this eat-or-die scenario between me and a hockey player. For argument's sake, however, I am going to choose David S. Pumpkins, from the Anchorage Armada. I am basing this decision on the follow criteria:

Pumpkins. Simple as that. I love pumpkin pie. So I'd probably love Pumpkins's pie. 

-Portions:

Pumpkins is 6'7" and 257 pounds. That meal will last longer than most hockey players.

-Personality:

David S. Pumpkins is a kind soul and a funny man. I would love to spend time with him in any capacity - yes, even roasting and eating him.

Which SHL or SMJHL team was the best team to not make the finals this season and why?

I don’t think there is any question this is Hamilton. Maybe you could make a case for Chicago, but that doesn’t feel good when Hamilton is your other choice. They were pretty clearly the best team in the league during the regular season. No team scored more goals than the Steelhawks during the regular season. They also had 3 of the 4 highest scoring players in the league. Texas was the only team to allow fewer goals, and it was only 4 fewer, during the regular season. I wouldn’t have called them a heavy favorite to be in the finals, but I do think they were the safest bet.

It’s a bit closer than the regular season goal numbers might lead you to believe. Buffalo gets more scoring from fewer players, while I think Texas scores a bit more by committee. In this instance, I take Buffalo by a slim margin. I’ll bet on the cream to rise to the top.

It has to be Texas. Going that long without a cup is definitely a factor. I think the bigger factor in putting a chip on their shoulder would have to be how dominant the Great Lakes has been lately. If it were me, I’d feel a bit overlooked with how much attention the GLD teams have gotten.

I dig both of them pretty evenly. I like the Texas concept, but could do without the hockey sticks in the logo. Location is fine. Buffalo has one of the better logos in the league, I think. Colors are solid. I’m not big on Buffalo as a location. It’s very close, but I think on the strength of the logo and colors I’ll take Buffalo.

Again, very close here. I’ve been to Dallas, and enjoyed it fine. I haven’t been to Buffalo, but was planning on it for the NCAA hockey tournament in 2019. Nothing about that trip had me especially excited to go to Buffalo. I would like to see Niagara Falls. I think I will go with Buffalo here. I think Niagara Falls tips the scale enough.

The Purge is a concept where typically illegal things (e.g., robbery, murder) are legalized for one day. In an SHL-purge, there's a game day where everything typically illegal to do on the ice is now legal. No rules for sticks or pads, no penalties, no icing, etc. What will your player do on the ice to make the most of this and gain a competitive advantage?

Grape Fruit will play with multiple pucks to score goals more quickly. The secret will be to get a mop bucket and fill it full of pucks and skate to the opposing team's goal and throw them in the net. This will be done over and over for maximum goals. There is no possible way to stop this because there are no rules. If the other team will employ this strategy as well, I will simply steal there bucket of pucks and throw it in their own net, doubling what I would have done without their help. Thanks other team. Now the Panthers are unstoppable and achieve Challenge Cup glory. For extra insurance, I will plastic wrap the pucks into the bucket to make sure they all make it in the net. It would be a shame to spill any of the pucks on the way to the goal, allowing the other team a chance to score.

If real life versions of all 18 SHL team logos were entered into a fight, which would come out victorious and why? Which would be the first eliminated?

In real life the logos eliminated first would be the Aurora and the North Stars because they are just things in the sky. They just look pretty. The rage would also not win because emotions can't win physical fights. My money would be on the Blizzard. In the end, cold will consume all. Even the fire breathing dragons. While the animals fight amongst each other for temporary survival, the cold will be a constant waiting for whoever happens to be left. Even the water bound Barracuda will eventually be frozen by the blizzard. If the effects of the blizzard were not enough, it's not really possible to stop a blizzard, unless there is a weatherman around to announce the blizzard will continue but I do not believe this is the case. Now, if one of the expansion teams claimed a weatherman as their mascot, we might have a fight on our hands. Unfortunately, that is too hard for even myself to decide who would win that battle.

I would eat Jimmy Jimmy. Why? There are too many Jimmys in this world and this would eliminate two with one meal. Jimmys are very nutritious and offer many vitamins and protein to survive the long winter or whatever crisis I am facing. Many other options would be enticing but this is my choice. I think I would survive because I would have consumed the power of two Jimmys as opposed to the usual one I am used to. Hopefully no other SHL player would choose to eat me because I am very small and offer no chance of survival, despite my delicious name it is quite deceiving and a common mistake.

I think that Calgary would come out victorious. They are dragons after all, I think they would dominate all the other animals for sure. Now let’s take this to a meta level. We have ingenuity of humans who can develop tools. Syndicate is probably the most powerful of all the human figured, their mini guns can mow down a lot, even dragons. So, does this mean north stars take the cake? No, not at all. There are two train of thoughts about the stars, either they can go super nova and obliterate literally everything, or they are much too far away to actually do anything. One aspect that I believe might be overlooked is the Phoenix endless life death cycle. Yes they die, they are re bourn. They can out live everything, doctor strange style and just keep renewing their beings, out existing anything. Any mortal creature lives and dies, and any being ends while the Phoenix continues its life death cycle into infinity.

They host some of the top points players in the league and those will be their offensive power leading the way into the finals against a very strong defensive and tactically sound team. 59 Words

Texas one mission percent. The actual buffalo logo is very dated and needs a re vamp. Green and yellow are yucky combination. Texas has a bold color scheme of silver and black. It’s sleek. I eat my good friend Nathan Thomas @KaleSalad. Now this might shock you at first, “he is your friend, why would you do that”? I have a pretty simple answer to this question. If I am ever in a situation where I need to eat a fellow SHL player, I know Thomas is right there next to me.
What would be the cause? A plane crash in the rockies, stranded on a deserted island, party boat goes dead in the middle of the ocean. All of these scenarios are very real, and for that reason I like to always make sure I have steak spice with me just in case.
I know Nathan is by my side causing trouble with me, so he is a sure thing option. I would expect he would be choosing to eat myself as well.

First thing to truly decide this debate, we must define what "victory" means in this competition. To simply outlast your opponent is not victory, it is cowardice. You must conquer and destroy your opponent. Secondly, the prompt specifies the "logo," therefore we will consider only what is present and reasonably discernible within the image. While the "Pride" may, as a name, indicate a group of lions, the logo only features a single lion. Let's get started with the SHL logo deathmatch.

Step 1 - Immediate DQs
Toronto and Winnepeg - Neither the CN Tower or an aurora have the presence of will to kill an enemy.
MN, NOLA, and Texas - The Monarch is just a dude without firearms, he is easily outmatched by those with firearms such as Texas and Chicago. Texas is immediately DQ'd because they're outdated in firearm technology and capacity compared to the mobster from Chicago. The specter of NOLA has no corporeal form to kill any of these targets directly.

Step 2 - The Best of the Beast
Atlanta, Baltimore, Buffalo, Hamilton, Manhattan, NE, TB, Edmonton, LA, and SF - lol sorry, but the dragon of Calgary could solo all of these competitors at once.

Step 3 - What's Left
Only three teams remain, and I think the remaining ranking is pretty clear:

That advantage of numbers is helpful to them clearing any of the opponents in steps 2 or 3, but they lack any clear artillery capabilities to help reason any ability to overcome the other two combatants.

As an adamant and enthusiastic glizzy guzzler and lover I believe the easy answer here would be hotdog. However, the question here specifically asks about a player. Therefore, I wanted to look through the index for players that were clearly non-human and, ideally, animal and nature. Ekko van Otter, Pasta the Turtle, Strawberry Sailfish, and Duncan the Walrus immediately stand out, but all of these options are a bit too exotic in nature for me. Detroit's Peanut Butter provides a simple and inoffensive option, however my eyes are unwavering upon my true target: Puddles the Duck. Puddles is the easy option here, as his fatty but clean and savory taste will be perfectly accentuated by implemented Peking techniques to perfectly crisp the exterior skin before consumption.

If real life versions of all 18 SHL team logos were entered into a fight, which would come out victorious and why? Which would be the first eliminated?

Before we even get to the point where we can consider the winners of this fight, the Argonauts are done for. They are eye boats. Just a boat but worse, really. If the Legend of Zelda has taught me anything, the eye is always the weakpoint. You can't sit there and tell me that a giant boat, that is already weak to fire, too much water, or anyone with an axe, that's main draw is the fact it's weakpoint is advertised would win? It's out immediately.

With that out of the way, current logos that can be ruled out due to realistic constraints would have to be Texas, Montreal, Phillidelphia, Chicago, Toronto, Los Angeles, Minnesota, and Winnipeg. They are either humans that stand no chance against mythical creatures (MON, TEX, CHI, MIN), non-specific objects/phenomenon that can't fight (WPG, PHI), or just skylines (LAP, TOR). I also think SFP, EDM, TBB, NEW, MAN, HAM, BUF, and BAP can be removed for similar reasons animals simply have nothing on a phoenix or a ghost. Then there are the contenders;

Atlanta, Calgary, New Orleans.

This can really go anywhere, tbh. Atlanta technically can't lose cause the Phoenix can't really be killed afaik, but can they beat out a dragon, and a 'specter'? Maybe if it's the mardi gras specter, but in it's current form New Orleans is very intimidating. But intimidation probably doesn't impact a Dragon? I think I'd have to give Calgary the win. They can fly, breath fire, and have very big scales. I don't see what the field is supposed to do to get past this behemoth of a logo.

This has a very obvious answer for the SHL, because like, it's what everyone expected. Hamilton - Buffalo rematch was billed as the big thing against this year, but Texas pulled out the upset to beat Hamilton in 7, and have their shot to win the cup. However, the best team to not make the finals is actually San Francisco. I already covered why they would win the cup in one of my PT writeups in the past, but I can reiterate some of the important parts. Youth is the centrepiece of any young, up and coming team that wants to surprise their competitors. San Fran has a wealth of that youth that is hungry to win and could lead them to a surprise win, and I truly believe they had a chance to pull it off. Marner, Antonescue, Oscarsson, Bjerg, Stromberg, etc. A young core all there that can compete with the best of them. Perhaps a Binnington esque story with Antonescue, or maybe Oscarsson and Bjerg establish themselves as a premier shutdown duo. Maybe Marner makes his case to earn his money in FA and is a series MVP. They have the youth to make it a possibility.

I don't know the scene for a lot of famous actors but I have to imagine Ryan Reynolds would be repping Vancouver big time due to his Canadian roots. While they aren't necessarily an SHL team, that Whalers in a huge market and I think they should be considered for the role. I think Spike Lee would be expected to cheer for Manhattan. They're somewhere around New York and proximity wise he would want to support a team like the Knicks. John Krasinski would cheer for New England as he's already established as a Boston fan, as he opposed Jenna Fischer in the 2019 finals if my memory serves correct. Chicago could probably get Joe Pesce, Jim Belushi, or some other mobster-lite actor that fits with their Syndicate namesake.

As much as animal players such as Julio or Pasta the Turtle are allurig to consume(?), as their current/future teammates I couldn't bring myself to enjoy medium-rare Tokolosh on a deserted island. As well, it would fall under stereotypes that we in Edmonton want to avoid to pin the "designated meal" role onto an animal. I think it would be a valuable learning point for Dwight Knight (@hockeyiscool) to walk in the shoes of an animal for a day or two, take his leg off so Foley can keep going. That way he will learn the pain of being an animal hockey player in todays society when people feel it is alright to make animal jokes at the expense of human... err, bovine beings. They say it is best to walk a mile in someone's shoes to learn the most about them, but I will say you must endure a meal from the dinners point of view to truly learn, and Dwight could learn a lot from an experience like that.

3. If all 18 teams logos got into a fight there would be a number of possible outcomes.
First and foremost i think its obvious who is going to come dead last in any fight, and that's a monarch. Assuming they don't have an army to fight for them and it's just a king or queen you know they are going to be useless coming up against some of these mythical beings. Monarchs lose 100% of the time.
Next we have 2 conscientious objectors in the North stars and the aurora. 2 logos don't really have a foot in the fight. They are not beings they are light and heat. In this situation I believe they stay out of it.
Onto the rest I feel a hawk kills a barracuda. A renegade kills a hawk. We can wipe out just about every regular animal by considering a dragon will fuck every single one of those up. Even if they teamed up at once. That leaves us with the infernos Pheonix, Calgarys Dragon and NOLAs Specter.
The question here is, how can you kill that which has no life? Ergo the Specter wins by default. 3TPE

5. If there's one person everyone thinks of when they think of celebrities from New Orleans it's not newt Gingrinch. Nope, it's clearly the legendary actress Sandra Bullock. Not only us she beautiful, hilarious and a damn good actress, she's also a major sports fan. Usually seen supporting basketball, bullock has become a massive fan of the New Orleans Specters. Their purple uniform matches her eyes and the furiosity of their play reminds her of her furious acting in classic film 1994s speed.

Well the obvious answer here is the team who've basically run the league during the last decade or so, the Hamilton Steelhawks. This is the first time that they haven't made the finals for a little bit, and they came very close to getting back there this season before the Texas Renegades were finally able to get over the hump and beat them out in the conference finals. The Steelhawks are a stacked team who are going to be right back in the picture next season, but it was definitely a surprise to see them unable to find their way there this season.

Wow is it really time to write about how dominant a season Canada is going to have in the IIHF again already? It isn't the most interesting of topics, but honestly it's hard to even look in a different direction when you're talking about a team that's going to have a great season in the tournament. I would be very surprised if they weren't able to win another gold medal this season due to the quality of their management and roster, and they just consistently seem to be the best team in the league by some distance. I'm also predicting that the USA will finally get over their slump and win themselves a medal. It's been a very long time coming for them in recent memory, and they definitely have the quality of players required to go out and collect some hardware so that's something that I'm very much expecting to see happen this season.

Being based in Texas, the Renegades would have a host of celebrity fans making an appearance at their games; especially now they're in the Challenge Cup finals for the first time in 20+ years and have a ton of media attention on them. We would expect to see several members of the Dallas Cowboys show up for a game or two, with Dak Prescott known to be a big supporter of the team and several players. Another Texas resident, Joe Rogan, has also been spotted at games before and it wouldn't be surprising to see him make an appearance at one of the games during the finals either. Definitely a lot of celebrities based in Texas, and a lot of guys who will want to get in on the success the team is seeing at the minute.

a. I'm going to go against the grain here and say that Texas had the bigger offensive firepower. This might seem controversial but the system that Texas plays favours the team unit over the individual, and has led to a lot of goals during the season. We saw the way the finals played out, and a lot of that was due to the Renegades' ability to get the puck on net with a range of different players.

b. As someone who's been on Texas since that last appearance back in S36, its hard to imagine anyone having a bigger chip on their shoulder than the Renegades do. The wait has been unbearable, and since getting to the finals not a single person on the roster wants to make it this far and go home empty handed. We were able to end the drought and win a cup that seemed like it took forever to arrive, but it came in the end and that's all that matters.

A. That would be Buffalo. 2. If SHL purge was actually a thing and there were no rules on the ice, Zlatan ibrahimovic junior will be laughing in everyone's face. When he is on the ice, the first thing he will do is throw the net away. You cannot score if there is no net. Then he would make sure to just stand in front of the opposition's net and cherry pick the whole game. Man will set up a record for the amount of points he will score. Imagine a structure like Zlatan standing right in your face. Other things ibrahimovic jr would do, is high stick is opponents, sweep their legs, break their sticks, he will just make it impossible for any of his enemies to play. He will become a real threat to the opposition. He may even pull some of his dad's acrobatic skills on the ice and petrify his enemies with just his gaze. All in all, Ibra jr. would make it a living hell for for enemies and they will wish they have not played against the legends son.

5. THe best SHL team to not make the finals is without a doubt Hamilton Steelhawks. In fact majority of the user base expected them to repeat and claim another challenge cup. Hamilton cruised through the regular season with ease and even got the president's trophy. Hamilton has a very deep roster and this is the main reason why they played very well. Their first playoff matchup was against Edmonton Blizzard and even then then won 4-1 in the series. They then had to play against Texas Renegades and this is where things turned sour for the. The series were tight and at a point Hamilton was actually leading 3-2. But then texas forced them to a game 7 by winning 5-1 and then ended up beating them 6-1 in game 7. This was a terrible loss for Steelhawks as they all believe they would have won if things worked out differently. But we wish Texas the best of luck against their next opponents who are the Buffalo Stampede.

6. My prediction for this year's IIHF is similar to last season's. I believe it will be a toss up between Canada, USA and Great Britain who will be the medal winners. If i had to guess, Canada will win gold again, USA with silver and Great Britain with bronze. The reason why these teams will always do well is because of the amount of users that continue to be part of one of these three nations. Out of the numerous players that join these countries, many will become top tier and thus will provide them with the added depth to always be relevant. Zlatan ibrahimovic jr, is part of the Sweden team and he believes they will be a tier below the ones already mentioned. In terms of player performances, I think Theo Morgan from Canada will have a stellar year. He destroyed this years regular season and I see him repeat that performance in the IIHF level. The teams that will do horrible are the following: Latvia, Austria, and Ireland since they have a small userbase and thus it will be harder to find elite players.

If I would be forward I would go over the opponent's blue line and wouldn’t get punished for “offside”. So I am a defenseman I think I could just give an offside pass for forwards who are next to the goalie. Hey! No one can stop me! I’ll give pass by a hand and score with skate! Muahahahaha! Actually, I have one genius answer. Newer leave the ice since there can not be a penalty “Too many men on the ice”. If get tired I could just lay next to my goalie and trip everyone near me who are not from my team. Actually, this is going out of hand. No wonder I haven’t watched that movie. This would make the game so uninteresting to watch. I bet some idiot would always flip the puck over boards. I actually like that rule. That makes the game kind of more interesting. I don’t find purging very interesting for hockey.

This one would be a dirty fight! As a member of Calgary Dragons, I really think that our logo is the best! I wish this tournament would be like the one in Latvia right now. Unpredictable and wild. Last championship week I thought that Canada would pick the shiny but they were 2-3 in their group. Funny but Sweden was next to them. I thought that SHL Sweden sucks but hey – they do pretty good now and I believe that they will improve every year. So I call Sweden for my bronze dark horse. Actually, the Team United States of America and Team Great Britain are gold/silver medalists in my opinion. For another dark horse of this tournament, I would pick Switzerland and Team Czech Republic who is somewhat named “Chezcia”. Like really people... I find it a little bit of mockery. I hope for Kaspars Claude for the best defenseman for the tournament. I really would like to see him with this achievement. He is really hard-working guy and should have some gratitude for his incredible good work.

Parmy is a big boy and for apocalyptical reasons, he could be the best fit for my meal. If I’d like to something of a taste of whiskey I could eat Otis B. Driftwood @Slappydoodle . I'm sure we have all seen that scene from Might Ducks Two where they combine teams for the Winter Junior Olympics. I would bring a lasso and just try to tie up all of the other players. Imagine skating around the entire ice rink in a Simulation Hockey League game just lassoing opposing players while they try to make it down the ice to score. It would be hilarious. We could corral all of the other team up which would not only give us an advantage but they couldn't try and foul one of my players or even get off of the ice to substitute out. It would be crazy. The best part is I don't even have to play the puck. My sole purpose is to be a menace and to distract the other team. I could even run and tackle the other teams goalie. The possibilities are endless and nonstop fun! Lassoing the opposing team would be my illegal activity if we didn't have any rules.

It is hard to look anywhere but the team that was last in the Great Lakes division. We constantly have the best four teams in the league and someone is not going to make the playoffs. I think we were a team that would have been better in the playoffs then in the regular season. We finished fourth in the entire league yet we did not qualify for the playoffs and did not get an opportunity to play for the chance to make the finals. I don't know if that's the biggest snub ever but I'm very glad they realigned all of the divisions. The Toronto North Stars were a team that should have made it.
