I'm assuming that this strictly pertains to hockey rules and societal rules still apply so bringing a gun to the rink is off the table. Gaining an illegal advantage as a goalie is a tough one. There isn't much I can do to my gear that would beneficial without also making my job harder. Like, I guess I could walk out there with a literal wall and just put it on the goal line right? Bulkier pads would make me slower, a big fan for a stick would probably also make me slower to react just by virtue of it being heavier and making it harder to play the puck. However, short of bringing some kind of extra barrier to cover the net, the big paddle stick is probably the most realistic option. Like just a big pizza paddle for a stick, sure playing the puck would be nigh impossible but good luck getting past that thing at any range.

Previously I would have said Blizzard, because their logo was an alpha chad yeti but now it's a wee little fox so I think the answer is the Specters, since they're a supernatural entity and generally intangible so they cannot technically be harmed at all. On top of that, a Specter could probably do some weird remote control shit, like just enter your brain and make you eat cyanide or mutilate yourself or whatever and there really isn't anything that can be done about it. Like, putting serious thought into this and Specters would just absolutely dominate the field like it wouldn't even be close. I can't see them not OHK'ing pretty much all of the other mascots. As for first eliminated, I mentioned them previously, but definitely the Blizzard. I mean, they're the smallest and they have like zero terrain advantages over something like the Barracuda. Hitmen are normal dudes with guns and normal dudes with guns kinda own little foxes so they just get waxed. Barracuda are next weakest because they can't do shit outside of the water, and even in the water they're not really a threat to anyone but the humanoids and they're all armed.

Which SHL or SMJHL team was the best team to not make the finals this season and why?
Once again, Newfoundland. Unfortunately, my last season with the squad saw another playoff exit short of our hopes. It is what it is, and I'm not sure I can pinpoint any one thing and say "yeah, that's why we didn't make it". Playoffs are a hard road, and doing well over a season means a lot less than some believe. Sometimes, you just don't play well on a given night and that applies to any point in a season, it's just a lot less noticeable in a 60 game set than a 7 game set. A howler in the season can easily be brushed off, but it is way harder to recover in the post season. Naturally, this means as much luck is involved in winning a cup as skill, which isn't to disparage any team that beat us, but luck is something you need. You need the universe to have things go your way when they might not have otherwise, and if you've got more of it than someone else, all things being equal, you'll end up on top.

What's your prediction for this season's IIHF tournament? Which teams do you expect to do well (or not well)? Which players?
Still not playing in the IIHF, but I guess I'll say Japan just because of my previous connections to the team. I don't occupy like literally any other locker room for IIHF other than Japan, not even Finlands (if they have one) so I'm giving Japan my vote. Plus side, they have good management and excellent players. I expect Minamino to pop off, he's a staple in the SHL for consistent performance so he's a very safe pick to watch and I also am looking forward to seeing if any of the new blood are included in their run. They've grown a lot since their inception, japanophile/weeb romanticism easily makes their recruiting base far more potentially larger than other non-mainstream hockey nations, and they've done well in that regard. Hopefully they continue their trends of growth and success even beyond this tournament. There's potential there to be one of the first outsider nations to become the perennial champion.

Abel Skinner is offended by the idea that he would need any help beyond the scope of a regular hockey match to gain a competitive advantage. Hooking is for people who can’t skate and are unable to keep up with opposing dainty wingers. Icing is for people who cannot control the puck and so have to skip it down the ice to keep it away from the enemy. Crosschecking is for people who do not know how to lay a shoulder into a guy and knock him off his keester.
I guess the one area that Abel would like help with is scoring. Perhaps if his teammates were able to spear other guys to keep them away from him when he winds up for his slapper, he might be able to net a few more goals. That would be very sweet and something Skinner would be willing to contemplate. Other than that, Skinner says, “I don’t need no stinking help on the ice.”

\Well, obviously, Great Britain will dominate the entire tournament and cruise to an easy gold medal. They have the horses and the grit. And covid has ravaged the country and it’s time for some rage payback. So, watch out rest of the world. Canada, the United States of America, Czechia, Sweden, Russia – all these may have the pedigree in the NHL and other world leagues, but in the SHL, it is the Lion of Great Britain who will roar loudest.
I believe that Abel Skinner, D for the Seattle Argonauts is going to rise to the occasion and be the hero of the British squad. He has played in the international tourney enough times to know what it’s all about – the differences and the similarities with the regular SHL season and he is ready to exploit those differences.
Skinner will lay down the hits, block the shots and score the timely goals that will lead Great Britain to victory!

The only team that really matters in the SHL is the Seattle Argonauts so let’s talk about who might be a superfan of the Argos.
First and most importantly, I know for a fact that both Ken Griffeys (senior and junior) are huge fans of the Argos. As athletes they can recognize the superior caliber of the nautical icemen and how could they not root for the franchise in the city of their beloved Mariners. Junior spent most of his illustrious career in Seattle and Senior ended his career there.
Bill Gates is also a big fan of the Argos. Not as much fun as having the Griffeys cheer you on, but the sponsorship of the arena is a nice gesture.

On paper I'd say Buffalo they just have so many good offensive players that not only score but set up their teammates. Not saying Texas doesn't have that but in my mind Buffalo is the best offensive team in the league. It also helps that it's not only their forwards that grab a lot of points but Wang is one of the best in the league as well.
b. This is Texas’s first cup appearance since winning it in S36, while Buffalo is recovering from 2 recent final losses to Hamilton. Which team will have a bigger chip on their shoulder entering the finals.
It's very close on one hand you know Buffalo desperately want to take this one as they've come up short the last 2 seasons. On the other the hand it's been so long since Texas has been here that they have to be hunger to win it knowing it could be another 20+ seasons to get back here so I'm going with the Renegades as the hungriest team.
c. Which of these two teams' brandings do you prefer? Take into account colors, logo, name, location, and anything else you consider relevant.
I'm a bigger fan of Texas's branding to be honest. Both team's name, logo, and location all fit well, but I do like Texas's colors and logo better. In real life the city of Buffalo already has both of their pro sports team that uses a buffalo as their logo and the Stampede are no different. It's like when the SHL Winnipeg team has called the Jets had almost the logo as the NHL team, it just comes off a little lazy.
d. Would you rather have to spend a long weekend hanging out in Dallas or Buffalo? What would you do?
Dallas for sure, although part of the reason is I don't know anything about Buffalo besides that it's in New York. I've never been to either city but I've heard great things about Dallas and that if you're in Texas, Dallas is the place to be. I feel like I could see and do more things in Dallas then Buffalo.

What's your prediction for this season's IIHF tournament? Which teams do you expect to do well (or not well)? Which players?
My prediction for the tournament is that Russia's unbelievable run last season won't be a fluke and they move onto the knockout rounds again this season. Russia has a good combination of veterans, Kandinsky, Bruchevski, Horvat all of them played for Russia last time they won a medal, to mix with a solid core and some exciting up talent. A few games into the tournament and Jakub has proven he's not only a good goal scorer in the SHL but in the IIHF as well. The team is very hungry and after coming so close last season the team is very confident they can compete with the big teams again this season. Rookie goalie Evgeni Petrov got his 1st IIHF win in his 1st IIHF start. Young defensemen Puddles O'Duck and Teylora Petrov have been very good offensively in generating points and scoring opportunities. Last but certainly not least starting goalie Samat Beibizhanov, one of the best IIHF goalies if he is locked in once again, he'll be the key to seeing how far Russia goes.

Delver Fudgeson will be commanding the team like never before. He will have one of his team's forwards set up near the other team’s goalie at all times. The main strategy of the game will be to play 4 on 5 and then dump it to the scorer. Meanwhile, defending will become a little easier because of all the hooking and slashing in the face that will be happening. About two shifts in and the other team will know what they’re in for. The thinking is that they will forfeit the game, rather than deal with this garbage for the entire duration of three periods. Also, if too many men penalties aren't being called, then the entire team will be out there at once, fighting and hitting and slashing and just clogging up the entire rink. The game will become unwatchable and result in no views for the day, and hockey being as unpopular as it already is, will take a huge hit and cause the salary cap to dip ever so slightly. This will hurt the top teams and bring parity to the league after about ten seasons of having a purge day.

Which SHL or SMJHL team was the best team to not make the finals this season and why?
The finals were underwhelming, as it was a five game series. Even if some games went to OT. The real finals were the round earlier, when Hamilton took the champions to seven games. Buffalo didn’t stand a chance against Texas, and likely wouldn’t have against Hamilton either. So I think it’s a fairly safe bet to say that the Steelhawks were the best team to not make the finals, just based on how they did against the champions. Not even factoring in how much they’ve won recently. I’m just happy a Great Lakes team didn’t win. Shout out to the Toronto North Stars for being a top five team in the league and not making the playoffs based on some sick divisional garbage.

Look at these cities. Do you think many of these are real hotspots for celebrities? The only three teams that would attract famous fans are Los Angeles, Manhattan and Toronto. LA would probably have some good showings. Actors and everyone who gets free tickets from their agencies. Manhattan would have some big rich stars, some actors, some musicians, but probably a lot of just rich famous people who suck showing up in the press box to sit quietly and disregard the game. Toronto would wrangle Canadian stars like Drake, Justin Bieber. Not as rich and famous as the two other cities perhaps, but at least their group would be interested and show some real appreciation for the sport of hockey.

Buffalo scored over 300 goals this season, and did it in the most stacked division in SHL history. Scoring 33 more than Texas makes them a clear offensive favorite. High end talent, absurd depth. It’s gonna be a defensive battle for those cowboys if they want to compete with some monstrous firepower that should be nerfed by a new “functioning” salary cap system.
Texas for sure. Buffalo won recently, and then losing to a dynasty team twice is nothing to scoff about. They would probably be looked at like Hamilton is now if it wasn’t for, well, Hamilton. Texas is finally making it out of their weak division/conference. They need to prove that they can compete with these stupid Great Lakes teams. Now’s the time to do it.
This is probably the worst branding finals matchup in a very long time. Two of my least favorites in the league. Terrible colors, terrible names. Horrid logos that inspire nothing and no one. Just miserable in general. That said, at least the terrible black and white of the Texas Renegades is different from the rest of the league, and isn’t a puke green, yellowish monstrosity.
Could you imagine spending a long weekend in Buffalo. My god. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Buffalo is the most miserable place on the planet. When you cross the border from Canada into Buffalo, it’s like entering a smoggy, miserable, rained out apocalyptic wasteland. Dallas would have better weather, actual things to do. JFK got shot there, so that’s something. JFK would probably choose to go to Dallas again rather than spend one hour in Buffalo.

Harry Carpet’s gotta go. My teammate and should be a hall of famer, honestly. One of the nicest dudes and best team players I’ve ever seen. He’s getting eaten. Not only can you not trust people as helpful as him, but it will make everyone else look better. With him gone, it lowers the bar significantly. I can continue to be a piece of shit, and it will reflect so much better. Also, he’d probably volunteer, rather than have someone else go, so he likely wouldn’t even be mad. I’d be sad to see him go, but you’d have to imagine a stringy, athletic goalie would have some premium cut meat that would be even more memorable than the friendships that would be lost forever.

Starting off small would be the first play. An overly sharpened stick turning a slashing penalty into a disembowelment, lead in the gloves to turn one punch in a fight into an eternal nap, little things like that. Following on from that would be more intricate plans designed to really demotivate the opposing team whilst also providing great entertainment for the crowd. A series of tunnels underneath the ice dug out and inhabited by trained animals, ready to destroy the ice from below at a key point in the game to really turn the tide. What could hurt more for the travelling team than their star player sinking into depths unknown whilst on a breakaway, never to be seen again. Or you know, go old school with the old shotgun on a stick and come up blasting with both barrels to really get the edge. Teams will have to run rosters 5 times as large to keep up with the carnage.

I am opting for some creative liberty in order to answer this question and therefore the entity that is created for each team will be one of either the team name or that depicted on the logo, based on arbitrary criteria set by me that would not hold up to any form of scrutiny. With that out of the way, the clear winner of this contest would be the Toronto North Stars. As the fight begins, all entities are spawned in their respective locations. It is at this moment that Polaris, a yellow supergiant 50 times bigger than our sun appears where Toronto used to be and consumes and destroys Earth as we know it. As it appears all at once and not outward from Toronto, it is safe to say that all other 17 logos are defeated at once, and all therefore are deemed to have been eliminated first. Polaris secures a victory for Toronto that no one is left alive to see. And we must then ask ourselves, if that is the case, did Toronto really win anything at all?

It would be with a heavy heart and a salivating mouth that I would have to consume my teammate and dear friend from the Newfoundland Berserkers, Pasta the Turtle. If the situation has become so dire that I am resorting to having to gain nutrition from a fellow player, it would have to be one that is likely to provide the most satisfying meal. Pasta would prove sustenance and starchy goodness far beyond that of any other player in the league and the thought of turtle is slightly more palatable than that of human. Plus there is plenty of him to go round, so it would keep many players fed for a good while.

Its got to be Buffalo with the stronger offensive firepower. Just a quick look at the stats from this season during the regular season, shows that Buffalo had three players in the top points scorers before Texas even gets 1. Think that first line is very dominant and will be really important for them.

Buffalo will have the bigger chip on their shoulder as they enter into the finals. Losing two in a row does suck, and they will hope to be able to make up for it this draft. I think Texas will have a chip as well, but it will be more evident on the Buffalo team. Good luck to them, will be tough, but not impossible for Buffalo to win.

This is pretty hard to be honest, I dont really like anyone of their brandings. Neither black, nor green + yellow is really an appealing color scheme to me, and both their names are pretty unique which is cool. I do think I like the Texas logo tho, so I think I would end up going with that.

I would no doubt rather spend it in Dallas. I am not 100% sure where Buffalo is actually located. Maybe New York? But Dallas seems like a pretty chill place, I think the US Soccer Hall of Fame is close to there, and that would be a fun to place to end up visiting.

I do not know too much about the SHL, but one common thing that I hear is that Hamilton makes the finals every season and always wins. They were first in the league this season, ten points ahead of Buffalo, and thirteen points ahead of Texas which were the two teams that ended up making the finals. What this does prove is that Buffalo and Texas were both teams that deserved to make finals as a second and third seed, but Hamilton is a clear best to not make it. Along with their league lead, they had three of the top 4 points getters, which is a very dominant force. They also gave up the second least goals in the league, second to only Texas. So on offense and defense were very nice. TOTAL TPE: 16/16

I was initially going to complete my answer in another direction, but I felt it too dark for what this question was asking for (despite this question, literally including murder in the question, I decided not to write about how I would Steve Moore hoes). Instead I will just skate around the ice, grabbing the puck in my glove and get in to the net, however possible. My teammates will use whatever method they can in order to stop other players from reaching me, if I have to I'll run into the stands and wait out in the rafters, until closer to the end of the game with the puck, so that the other team is stuck without an opportunity to score. Even a 1-0 win is a win, and I will do whatever it will possibly take in order to win. Any means necessary. Besides that, any player I see that I absolutely hate? They are getting Steve Moore'd for sure, without a doubt.

Congrats to Texas for draining the lakes! I almost became a member of the Texas Renegades, perhaps I would have won a cup. But instead of became a member of the Hamilton Steelhawks and made it to like 3 finals in a row, only winning one of them. Tough. I was really wanting for Buffalo to win, as I was a member of that team just last season, but alas, it was not meant to be. All star snub Monkey D Luffy, was not good enough this series to win it in their favour, which is a real shame, but that is just how things go. In expansion I worry Buffalo will lose a top S46er, and so many are questioning whether they can return to the finals again. With expansion looming around the corner, I wonder if it is time to see some new finals contenders. Hopefully ones from whatever team I am on.

I would have to eat @hotdog's meat, and no I am not talking about his penis. Otter meat must surely be a delicacy somewhere, and even if it's not, who is to say it is not. Regardless of societal norms, I will be going to town and chomping down on that boy, and he will fill me up with nourishment and flavour and taste and all that. If every single one of the Simulation Hockey League logos were to come to life and go to a battle to the death, I think there would be one or two which would stand no chance, but a couple of logos who would seriously fuck up the rest of the competition. For instance, I think if a logo such as the Manhattan Rage, representing nothing but an angry bull, were to go to battle with a logo like the Chicago Syndicate, representing the entire mafia of Chicago, the numbers that the Chicago Syndicate would have behind them would simply be too much for that of the Manhattan Rage to handle, and the Syndicate would shoot the bull down no bother. I personally think the other worldly logos such as the Monarch from Minnesota or the Spector from New Orleans, would be the ones which would stand the most chance in an all out battle to the death. - +3 TPE

The Purge is a concept where typically illegal things (e.g., robbery, murder) are legalized for one day. In an SHL-purge, there's a game day where everything typically illegal to do on the ice is now legal. No rules for sticks or pads, no penalties, no icing, etc. What will your player do on the ice to make the most of this and gain a competitive advantage?
This would cause a lot of violence on the ice. I mean hockey players have weapons at the bottom of their feet as well as in their hands. Plus hockey players are extremely athletic people where fighting is okay without a purge. So I know that everybody would be out for blood. I think what I would do to gain a competitive edge is put brass knuckles on my hands as well as even a laser gun attached to my head. This way I have a competitive advantage at close range where I can just murder someone with my fists as well as at long range where I can annihilate them with my laser beam. I would probably attach the trigger to my arm where I can just press it and it shoots out. If someone gains a break away bam! no more breakaway. I feel like this would give me the best opportunity on the ice.

For the simulation hockey league I think the answer to this question for the longest time has always been whichever team from the great lakes did not make the playoffs. This season is no different. The Toronto North Stars are easily the best team to not make the playoffs. They finished 5th in the league with 93 points. Which was five points ahead of sixth place Calgary Dragons who made the playoffs and 19 points ahead of sixth place who also made the playoffs. The Toronto North Stars were a very good team in an extremely hard division. It is always a blood bath to see which three teams make the playoffs out of this division. They only had one player higher than PPG but they had a solid core of players and played a decent game defensively.

If I had to eat one player of the simulation hockey league I would eat Patrick Twist of the Atlanta Inferno. I would do this simply because I am technically a zombie so the nutritional value of the person is not something I necessarily care about, I kind of just want to eat him for shits and giggles. If I had to give a reason I would simply say I would eat him because I crushed him in fantasy. If I am being honest Patrick Twist would probably be a nice treat. The obvious answer to this is the Colorado Raptors of the SMJHL. Well we might not have seemed to do too well it was because of DECEIT AND TRICKERY BY THE WIZARDS OF FMH. I dont have any proof yet but I am certain that these results were not true. I’m sure that in most dimensions colorado has won the cup. Though I can no longer play with the team I will not rest until I am certain that these wizards have been defeated and colorado finally can hoist the 4 star cup that is so much deserved. The team has been amazing and I truly with some time soon we can end our cup drought and maybe even get a captain an award but thats a whole nother problem.

The player I would at least attempt to eat is Narboza Manyhands, I feel like this is easiest choice as if I were to do this. Not only does he have more limbs then any other players, but I would also obtain quick access to all of his technology. With this technology I feel that these struggles of not being able to eat would seem like nothing more then slight annoyances as I will be able to easily control the rest of my peers and have them do my bidding. Maybe I could make it so the worst team has to live on half rations and spend their off time farming for me or something, the possibilities are endless.

If real life versions of all 18 SHL team logos were entered into a fight, which would come out victorious and why? Which would be the first eliminated?
All right, I entered the teams in a bracket maker so I could work that all the way to the end. I took all 20 so screw. A few team got a bye, but ultimately I should end up with only one at the end anyway. First up we get a kitty fight, with the Pride against the Panthers. Not gonna lie, a lion Pride is super organized while panthers are not much social animals, so I think the Pride would win here. After we have the Stampede vs the Barracuda. If a stampede is to run over a river, I think everything in it is gonna die so Stampede it is. The Rage vs the aurora is next. Well an Aurora can’t really hurt you unlike a jet, so I think the Rage wins by default. The Renegades vs the Montreal Patriots. I’d bet for the Patriots since they are again in a group. Well im already at the complete word with only the first round … ok I’ll go ahead and say the Dargons are probably gonna win cause well have you ever fought an ancient red dragon? Yeah that shit kill.

Congrats to the Texas Renegades. It was a great run those guys had this season, that’s for sure. After not reaching the finals despite having a really strong team, it finally paid off this year. The first game against buffalo ended up with a win for Texas in overtime. They managed to win without any issue the second game on a 4-1 score. They lost the third game on a shutout by the buffalo stampede but quickly answered in game 4 where they stomped the stampede with a 6-0 score. The final fifth game went in overtime again after a high scoring game on both side, and once again, Texas managed to put the puck past Elizabeth Doyle to win the cup.

I mean, this is asking for an absolute blood bath, but without going too far with the physical side of things, I would in all ways practice excess and completely warp the rules that are no longer in effect. A few examples of what I mean by this - I would have a bag of at least 30 pucks at any given moment that I could simply carry and place in the opposing teams net to score 30 goals at any point. I would construct a solid barricade that blocks our entire net down to the millimeter to ensure that the opposing team couldn't possibly score. I would have every single player on our team come out to the ice at once, also each with their own puck bags of around 30 pucks, so that all of us could get 10 hat tricks simultaneously and give us a 200 goal lead right then and there. There is nothing to big or ridiculous when there are no rules.

So aesthetics aside, I believe the winner of the battle would be the Calgary Dragons logo. Honorable mention goes to the Atlanta Inferno which appears to be some kind of fire hawk, but a Dragon literally breathes fire so you would have to expect it can withstand the fire of some kind of hawk that it could just kill with blunt force. It would have zero issues with the other animal based logos, and certainly no trouble with the human ones. The Specters might give it a run for its money but if video games have taught me anything, ghosts don't like to be healed and they don't like fire either. The loser of the battle would have to be The Barracuda. I believe out of all the remaining creatures, Barracuda are likely the ones that would be prey to the others, with perhaps the Blizzard having some issues with it. Some non-mentions here include logos like the Aurora and North Stars, I don't think the sky can either win or lose at this, it simply cannot compete.

Welp, you waited until the last day to grind out your CW and the CC finals are longggggggg over by now. congrats to [TEAM], woo! Reflecting back on the series, who gets your vote for series MVP? Make the case why this player deserves it over any other.
I don't think there is much of an argument against giving that honor to the Texas Renegades goaltender, Cillian Kavanagh. Kavanagh single handedly won multiple games just about. He was extremely stingy in nearly every game, and allowed Texas to play with confidence in front of him. When Texas secured a lead, which they did a lot in the series, Cillian Kavanagh was trusted with and came up big with backstopping that lead and barely gave the Buffalo offense any hope of success. Hot goalies are something you see a lot of in the playoffs and I believe this time around was no exception.

Chimkin Wing for sure. There are lot of other good options like Tony Pepperoni as I'm a complete sucker for pepperoni pizza, but Chimkin Wing and the associate Chicken Wings are absolutely delicious. I imagine that Chimkin, just based on his smell and aroma in the locker room, and the massive size of those thighs, would be delightfully meaty, delicious, and fulfilling. Just be in the same locker room with him when he's taking a steamy hot shower and you can immediately tell that he would be an absolute snacc. One of these days I might just sneak a bite but don't tell him that'll be our secret.

I think the Manhattan Rage were easily the best team to not make the finals this season. Forget the Hamilton Steelhawks for a second here, let's take a deep dive into the lineup that the Manhattan Rage were able to ice this season. We have my boy Olivier Clearly who played a season for the Detroit Falcons, we have Luke Tomson, we also have Jacob Aitakalo who is a fantastic goalie as well as mr second overall pick Ola Wagstrom. Just stars all across the board here and it shocks me how this team has failed to make one challenge cup finals apperance in the last few seasons.

C. Both of these brandings are very nice, very clean just like Gabriel Johnson's ass. However, there is one winner for me and that is the Buffalo Stampede. No knock on Texas, but it is hard to beat a branding like Buffalo's considering it was professionally made by a real graphic designer.
D. Anyone who would rather stay a week in Buffalo should be sent to a mental ward. What is there to do in Buffalo other than go to a Bills game and smoke crack? Dallas got top tier food, top tier experiences and is just overall easily the better city of the two.

Well they say that human meat tastes like pork, I think so the most delicious SHL user would be the biggest rat of the site. While there are quite a few of people on this site with rat tendencies, one user sticks out the most to me. His name is @golden_apricot. He squats a lot so I bet his leg would taste pretty good, good ass too I bet. Some nice juicy thighs from golden apricot, I would marinate it in gooney's saliva and roast it on the spit. I would eat golden apricot with my steelhawks friends and we would enjoy him together.
