Here's a rating/review of Meek's album:
Dreams & Nightmares: 4.25/5 In God We Trust: 4.25/5 Young & Gettin' It (ft. Kirko Bangz): 4/5 -Yep, this one is autotuned, but that doesn't mean it's bad. I actually think the autotune works here. Traumatized: 4.5/5 -Story about his dad who was murdered. Fuck those who say he only raps about bitches and money. Believe It (ft. Rick Ross): 4/5 -Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber name drops here for...some reason, lol. Though, Ross on the hook is actually enjoyable and then Meek does his thing. Maybach Curtains (ft. Nas, Rick Ross & John Legend): 5/5 -Undoubtedly a contender for my track of the year. I just cannot stop jizzing when I listen to this. John Legend murders the hook and then Meek, Nas, and Officer Ricky kill their verses. Amen (ft. Drake): 3.5/5 -Not a bad track, but gets knocked down by being a recycled track from Dreamchasers 2. Young Kings: 3.75/5 Lay Up (ft. Wale, Rick Ross & Trey Songz): 3.75/5 -Obvious track about sex is obvious. Rick Ross doesn't work here though. His flow just doesn't blend well. Tony Story (Pt. 2): 4.5/5 Who You're Around (ft. Mary J. Blige): 4.5/5 -First "Reach Out" for Nas then "Now or Never" for Kendrick and now this. Dayum is Mary J. on fire this year. Polo & Shell Tops: 4.75/5 -One of the tracks I was definitely looking forward to, if not only for Cardiak's production. Does not disappoint at all. Rich & Famous (ft. Louie V): 4/5 -Jahlil Beats! But, if you didn't like "Young & Gettin' It", allow me to assume you won't like this one either, lol. Real Niggas Come First: 3.75/5 Burn (ft. Big Sean): 4.5/5 -Might be a repeat from DC2, but...SWERVE. 63/75 -> 4.2/5 Meek's amazing beat selection shines brightly in this project, but that's not to say that it totally outshined his own performance on the mic. For a guy who I would not say is a lyricist, he's still great at what he does. Is this the album of the year? Nah, but it's damn good.

1.Dreams and Nightmares - 3/5
2.In God We Trust - 3/5 - This constant screaming is getting annoying 3.Young and Gettin it ft. Kirko Bangz - 2/5 - I hate autotune so naturally I hate this song 4. Traumatized - 4/5 5.Believe it ft. Rick Ross - 4.5/5 6.Maybach Curtains ft. Nas, John Legend & Rick Ross - 5/5 - Definitely the best song on the album 7.Amen ft Drake - 3/5 - Drake needs to stick with singing about ladies, he isn't a hardcore dude, he was a wheelchair actor on degrassi. 8.Young Kings - 3/5 9.Lay Up ft. Wale, Rick Ross & Trey Songs - 3/5 - My girl as bad as my son is. WTF DOES THAT MEAN U SICK FREAK 10.Tony Story pt 2 - 3.5/5 - The beat switch is nice and meek has the ability to tell a good story. Not at Kendrick's ability but still good. 11.Who Your Around ft. Mary J. Blige - 4/5 12.Polo & Shell Tops - 3.5/5 13.Rich and Famous - 1/5 - Atrocious 14.Real N***** Come First - 3.5/5 Total: 46/70 = 3.2/5 = Good; obvious flaws This was the first full album/tape that I have heard from Meek. The album is good and fans will definitely enjoy it. Before I get to the obvious flaws, lets get to the good. Meek prospers from the great minds at MMG and they give him some fucking great beats. He also has a good flow for the most part. The bads to me are really bad. The main issue I have is that he has real troubles riding a beat and everything seems forced or it just isn't cohesive and this is obvious in the first two songs and painfully obvious in Tony Story pt 2. My other main issue is the screaming is annoying. Finally the worst part of all is the overuse of features. Having a lot of features on a debut really over saturates the ability to showcase your skills. On top of the features being an issue, it is the fact that those feautres outshined meek mill whether it was Ross on believe it or Nas on Maybach curtains and even Wale on Lay up, and that really hurts this. The fact that this will outsell Kendrick is a travesty and also the fact that Dylan says Meek Mill is the future of rap makes me scared for the future. I am not a fan and definitely will not be checking for new meek mill joints.

Some songs are good for driving too But overall the only tracks i see myself listening to everyday is Maybach Curtains, Believe It, and Amen. Lamar's album would outsell this IMO but yea, people and their mainstream bullshit make me sick. |
